Welcome to the new Campaign that Strategic Painting are going to be running over the course of the latter half of 2023!
It is a super exciting time for the Team at Strategic Painting to take part in this new campaign.

This week, Smaugonite goes into great detail on his terrifying Titans! From the ones available from Forge World to the smaller ones that are made for the Adeptus Titanicus game!
He talks about where the Titan collection originally planned to go, why it changed halfway through, and what it means for the future of his Titan collection.

The sky is burning with a thousand aircraft! There's no escape on land or in the sky, they cannot escape! Our vengeance has come!

As a weird statistical anomaly, Aeronautica is our most played game this year, as we've managed to play over 10 games, with our Horus Heresy game count being only 4!

In the dark, dank, dredges of the Hive City: Mistor, the foulest characters and beasts have free rein. Not only is the City ruled by a mysterious and tyrannical High-Lord, but the very populous seem to be a mirror of him.

Welcome back!
What a long time it has been. In this episode, Smaugonite goes into the details of what each of the team have been up to since our last episode over a year ago!
More content is coming soon, the team are working hard to get content recorded and added to for the next few months.

The Ultramarines of the Imperium are one of the biggest Legions at the time of the Horus Heresy and their rules make them a formidable foe in the shooting phase when they take advantage of their ability to co-ordinate and work in unison to destroy their enemy!
In this weeks Podcast Smaugonite talks about the things he would be tempted to take in an Ultramarine army when he comes to getting a force down the line. He talks into details on the style of army he'd take and what would be included in that; and importantly why he would take certain units. As this is a little different in the sense that Smaugonite is talking about what he would take down the line it doesn't necessarily mean the rules allow for these units to be taken and he will update when he comes to writing his Ultramarine list!
The Praetors of the Phoenix have bonds to their brothers-in-arms stronger than any other warriors in the whole Imperium. As a show of solidarity before battle, their brothers will mark their armour with a unique symbol that will signify their unity and to show that the Brotherhood of the Chapter comes before anything else. Having this bond means that the Praetors of the Phoenix fight in complete unison, no commands are needed or given as they all work as a collective and conquer their enemies without any need for discussion. The warriors will work towards the Chapters common goals without any disputes, knowing that they are protecting their Brotherhood at all costs.
In this weeks Podcast Croydon goes into details on her very own Primaris army and where the ideas came from for her colour scheme, additions and how she decided to paint her different units.
In this weeks mega-episode all three of us sit down and talk about our Magnum Opus plans and where we'd like our armies to head towards for their completion.
Firstly, Smaugonite talks all things Titans, Custodes and Dark Angels; which then leads on to his idea of having a contingent of every Space Marine Legion present in his Magnum Opus army.
Then Minion goes into details on his plans for the Traitor Mechanicum and how he plans for this army to get to a 6,000 point standing first, with then additional units and models being added in to create an army truly awe-inspiring.
Finally Croydon talks about her collection and how any of it all put together could be counted as her Magnum Opus plans; but how she is more interested in pursuing the Orks in her collection to make an army of such a huge scale!
We think as a collective this Podcast will be a great topic to come back to, so we will aim to do another version of this Podcast in a year-or-so's time for an update and a check in as to where we have got to with our plans!
The soulless, mindless rabble of mass infantry of robots would not be in the Warhammer 40,000 universe without the presence of a Star-God tricking the original humanoid creatures into a deal that would cause such anger. After being blazed by their Sun on a planet where there was little shelter from the radiation, the Necrontyr made a deal with the Star-God to make them immortal, which forever bound their souls into metal and caused them to lose all of the humanity they once had.
In this weeks Podcast Smaugonite goes into details on his Necron force, and where the collection is at the moment, as this army isn't playable in Horus Heresy he talks through the models that he collected for Necrons for the 7th Edition of Warhammer 40,000, but he does mention that as we have a copy of the fan-made rules he may venture in to this army again!
After Magnus decided to join forces with the Warmaster in the Siege of Terra, the Thousand Sons fate was sealed with servitude to the forces of Chaos. As they fell into the powers of evil, they begun to believe in their own lies and deception; convincing themselves that instead of them being used as puppets they were actually in control of their own destiny. How wrong they were. The Cursed Brotherhood have adorned themselves in white power armour, a symbol to their brother traitor legions of their own enlightenment.
In this weeks Podcast Smaugonite talks about the starting point of his Traitor Thousand Sons army and when he started on this project! As it was such a long time ago, there are some aspects of the army that haven't seen the light of day for quite a while, despite being a passion project back when he was working on them. Perhaps one day soon they may be released from their case-like prison to a tabletop for a game or two!
The Ordo-Sinister, one of the most secretive and detached Legios of Titans ever to serve in the Imperium stride to battle in an eerie silence. Often being referred to as the Left Hand of the Emperor, the Nightmare Titans are no stranger to being deployed alongside the Legio Custodes, or Legio Ignatum, fighting in a strange unison, with battle-plans and strategies going unconfirmed, but seemingly acknowledged when in the midst of the battle.
In this weeks Podcast Smaugonite goes into the Nightmare Titans and what Titan he has in the collection. He also talks about his paint scheme, the symbology he chose and the alterations he made to this Warlord to better represent the Sinister Pattern. Another thing he mentions is what Titan will be added next, and how he is preparing himself for an addition to the Ordo-Sinister.
There are those of the Mechanicum who decided to turn on the Emperor and follow Horus and his cohort in the pursuit of Terra, the cradle of humanity. As each of the traitorous Legios turned on the Imperium their mutations grew more gruesome; and nothing represents this better than the fallen Titans who adorn their engines with trophies, spikes or flesh. There are none who turn to Horus' path and return, from Conscripts to Princeps, any who pledge themselves to the Ruinstorm Gods do so with no chance of redemption.
In this weeks Podcast Smaugonite goes into where he managed to salvage something so awful the Imperium demand their destruction on sight. He talks for the first time about the Chaotic Titans that he was lucky enough to rebuild from a project that someone didn't want anymore. He talks through how he painted the model and how pleased he is with the outcome.
He also mentions that the project was more fun than he anticipated, does this mean that he might be open to falling to Chaos?!
By far the most aggressive of the Space Marine Legions to turn against the Emperor during the Horus Heresy, the World Eaters preferred style of fighting is to hurtle forwards axes and chainswords swinging. Without stopping they churn through enemy forces like a knife through butter, only relenting when the enemy has been utterly decimated. They serve the Choas God Khorne in their ways, and they can be constantly heard shouting in his honour! Blood for the Blood God!
In this weeks Podcast Smaugonite goes into details on his World Eaters force and where they started and why he chose to have an army of raging Space Marines! He also talks about where the army might head as he has some models in his backlog that need to get built and worked on too... maybe this time would be coming soon if the events in the Siege of Terra series align...
Who doesn't love the checkered patterns on the Players from the xenos race known as the Harlequins? They fly through the enemy lines quicker than speed of light, being able to disable the enemy force before they know that they are under attack. Whilst their number is few, it is typical that they are fewer in number than a Legion of Space Marines, they still are able to identify the key weaknesses and deconstruct the enemy.
In this weeks Podcast Smaugonite goes into details on his Aeldari force, and where the collection is at the moment, as this army isn't playable in Horus Heresy he talks through the models that he collected for Harlequins, Eldar and Dark Eldar for the 7th Edition of Warhammer 40,000! We do also have a fan-made set of Eldar Rules that Smaugonite didn't mention, but it has allowed us to look at the prospect of taking this army in games of the Horus Heresy!
This week Smaugonite talks through the quieter week he has had hobby-wise and how he has decided to really focus and work on something that he has had on the back burner for nearly a year.
When he manages to get all this side project done however he will have completed another Hobby Bingo item for getting his goals for the year one step closer to completion!

The Solar Forged are a contingent of the Mechanicum of Mars and have proven themselves time and time again in battle. With their numbers being so few, they are often mistaken for a weaker force; however any who deems this relentless march of automata as such will be dealt with swiftly and totally.
In this weeks Podcast Smaugonite goes into details on his Mechanicum force, and where the collection is at the moment, as this is one of the rarer armies in the sense that he hasn't completed it yet; allowing for him to discuss in details where he plans to take this army in the future.
This week Smaugonite goes into details on what he has been up to with a new basing scheme for his beloved Dark Angels. As an after thought he has no idea as to why he actually chose to rebase a perfectly good finished scheme! Nevertheless, the Dark Angels have now been started the long haul of rebasing to city bases and they are starting to look great (...again!)
He also talks a bit about some of the gaming that he and Croydon have been up to, and how they have really been jumping in head first and how Croydon has been winning by using the all time favourite army: Legio Custodes!

The Obsidian Hunters are the Lords of the Night, and with that title comes an inherent ability to use the shadows to their advantage. Striking hard and fast through the darkness and being able to manoeuvre in agile and almost impossible ways means that there are few places enemies can hide from The Obsidian Hunters. After leaving Nostramo, The Obsidian Hunters joined the Warmaster in his crusade to Terra, however before reaching the Solar System they mysteriously vanished, with no trace other than a short voxcast telling how they will return when they are needed most.
In this weeks Podcast Smaugonite goes into details as to how he got started with his Night Lord force, and why this army holds a special place in his collection. He also talks about whether he can for-see any additions to the force, and whether there will be any new models added in to the force or not!
This week Smaugonite talks through a new army plan that he has put together in hopes to clear some of the last remnants of the backlog and therefore some extra storage space in the Studio!
He's finally decided a colour scheme for his Imperial Fists and how he wants to get them to be the 'grim-dark' he has always wanted; even if it means painting them a totally different colour to the yellow we expect from Imperial Fists!
He also talks a bit about Croydon's hobby and where she has made progress this week, with her ideas for a converted Primarch and how her army is going to be a different style than any other that might be played on the table-top!

From the darkest circles of the warp, the Chaos Gods send forth their most brutal and powerful of servants. Using the tides of the nether the form each of these beasts take could resemble any form of the four Chaos Gods when manifesting in the material realms. When they fight however they fight in unison, whether this is battling in the webway, or planetfall somewhere, the Daemons of the End of Empires are always eager to slay souls in service of the Chaos Gods. To fight the End of Empires, the army must be prepared for an onslaught of their every sense, from howling screeching, to fearsome beasts, each manifestation of the Daemons in this force being more terrifying than the last!
In this weeks Podcast Smaugonite goes into details as to how he got started with the Daemons of the Ruinstorm and how it has grown to an army fit for a die-hard fan of the immaterium! He also goes into details on each of his collections under each Chaos God and the reasons he chose to have the models he has from each faction!
This week Smaugonite talks through another retro model he has been working on, and what a joy it has been for him to finally add this to his Daemon army: The End of Empires! He also talks about his Imperial Fists that he has been working on and getting a 'grim-dark' paint scheme done for this army and how important this is for him. The Bitter Sons have long been a force of determination and power among the Traitorous Astartes, and nothing has proven to be useful in slowing their progress when they set their mind to bringing a Fortress or enemy fortification down.

There are those in the Mechanicum who joined Horus on his path to damnation. Traitorous Titan Legions chose to walk the road of betrayal, and so too did their Mechanicum brethren.

The Knights of the Solar System are honour-bound to be the most stalwart, courageous and fearless in the face of any foe. Whether it be a tide of oncoming Daemons, or a rabble of Traitorous Astartes these Knights will see any enemy vanquished.
