For this week's episode, I've met with Stephanie Iraggi, the creator of the Mama Shark blog. Prior to having children, Stephanie owned a successful small business- but before her oldest child was born, she made the decision to become a stay at home mom. As the overwhelm of motherhood set in, she realized she was carrying even more responsibilities than she did when she owned her own company- and just like in a small business, there was a need to figure out how to run things more efficiently. Stephanie realized she needed to learn to do daily mom life more effectively- and now she’s on a mission to do mom life smarter, faster, cheaper, and easier…and to share what she finds with YOU!

In this week we will talk about something many of us deal with on a daily basis: stress.
For this subject, I shared the conversation with Amber Curtis, a Ph.D. and productivity coach who helps overwhelmed moms make more time for who and what they love. Professor by day, and a business owner by night, Amber is also a devoted mom of four busy boys. She knows all too well how challenging it is to juggle all the things. After getting suicidal from the stress of keeping up with her demanding job while raising young kids, she applied her academic research skills to figure out what's scientifically shown to help you better "balance" it all. She shares all her insights in hopes that other moms never feel as hopeless as she once did.

Our guest for this week's episode is Natalie Burns, a wife and mother to 3 in BC, Canada. Previously, as a high school biology, health sciences, and dance teacher, she saw the need for personalized learning and decided to homeschool her own children. This is where she saw firsthand how homeschooling families were pushing to make learning happen which was leading to fighting and overwhelm. Because of her background, she knew exactly what these families needed so she stepped out to show how to eliminate overwhelm for good. She created Homeschool Teaching Simplified to support homeschooling moms to find the freedom to reflect who they are as a family - through the way that they teach - so they can create deeper connections with their children. If you want to know more about how you can support the relationship between you and your child, join us in this conversation! If you prefer reading check the episode's transcription at my website: changeradically.com/podcast/108

In today's episode, Mesha shares her personal story about being 14 and pregnant. She also shares about heart coherence, what it is, and the benefits to it.
To give a little background about my guest, Mesha McKittrick is a Mind & Heart Coach and creator of the podcast, Mindset Check. Through her brand My Friend Mesha, she is a Coach, Social Influencer and a Public Speaker. She graduated from ASU with a degree in Communications and an emphasis in Family Studies. She is also a registered Heart Math Technician thought the Heart Math Institute. Her passion is teaching people that they have more power than think they do. She believes that what matters in life is NOT what happens, what matters is what you THINK about what happens. Mesha has been married to her boyfriend for 24 years. She has 3 boys and an angel girl and she absolutely adores being their mom. She geeks out about the brain, quantum physics, heart intelligence and loves to learn endlessly about these topics. She is a yogi inside and out and if you put on a good beat she can’t help but dance! Paddle boarding and hiking add to her happiness! She knows that when we live inspired it causes us to take actions that we otherwise would not have taken. It’s important for her to help others find the power that is already inside of them.
Take-aways from the episode:
Everyone goes through experiences that are personal to us. When we share our stories we touch the lives of others.
There are pivotal points in our life where we get to choose happiness and joy. There’s freedom and we get to choose our states! Our brain runs away from us. We need to be the ones to put on the breaks because we have so much control in that area.
Our subconscious mind can be our most loyal assistant ever. Everything that is a part of your life right now is because you’ve created it by the beliefs in your mind. When you can internalize that, it’s freedom! Starting to understand that allows you to be in charge. It allows you to come in and make the changes you want to make. It’s not difficult when it’s all inside of your mind! It’s shifting the way we think, the beliefs held so deeply. When we do that we come into a different space, a different resonance, a different place to be. We don’t need to hold fear about what subconscious beliefs we carry. We likely received them when we were tiny. If you can dig down and find out what the belief is that you carry and rearrange that belief you are able to respond differently to it.
Our energetic state is affecting the people around us. We have power to influence the energy of the room around us through our energetic state.
Our heart knows before our brain. It’s so important to listen to our heart. If we spend so much energy in our brain we have it backwards.
Mesha teaches a course at the end of September about heart coherence. There are also meditations coming soon! Find out more by connecting with Mesha. You can find her on Instagram, @myfriendmesha.

What can we do to support ourselves throughout all the seasons of life. Let's talk about it!
Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/corinne-guido-powell/message
Today's episode will fill you in on what's been happening for me and what you can expect from Empowered to Thrive moving forward! I wanted to talk about how we can be sure to still prioritize our needs even in the middle of busy seasons. It is been challenging for me to not fall back into my condition patterns, those patterns that I got used to growing up. I was the codependent people pleaser, always meeting the needs of other people at my own expense... I still notice -Ohh! I have another layer of healing that needs to happen. For example, walking. It's a lot harder for me to take walks in the summer, I've noticed, than it is when my kids are in school I can just carve out 30 minutes or more in a day when they're in school. A lot easier than me having to say where are we going to plan for the day's activities and then in addition to that we're going to all go on this walk. It's just more complicated. It's possible, of course, but it's a lot harder. I'm having to figure out how do I take care of myself. And I could sit here and tell you I haven't done a very good job of it, but I think I'm not going to go from that angle I think that's a critical, judgmental critique, that angle, not those words. And, how I'm choosing to look at it is actually that you know what, because of all the healing that I've experienced already, because of all the intention I've put into my healing journey I'm managing this busy season heck of a lot better than I would have in the past. I'm more regulated. I'm enjoying my children. I'm not exhausted even when I'm tired. I'm overall taking care, much better care of myself and my body. And it's proving so in this very busy season. So are there more layers of hearing healing to experience? Is there more intentional work I can do to take better care of myself? Yes, and I'm figuring that out. And I don't mind showing up in the middle of my process and saying I'm figuring it out because I think there's value in us learning together as we're on the journey. My goal is not to say here, look at me. I've got it all. It's not my goal. My goal is to say we're in it together, and because I've been on the healing journey now for almost two decades, yes, I have things that I'm going to be able to help you with. I have things that I'm going to, I've experienced a lot where I'm going to be able to say, oh, I empathize, I can understand. I know what you're feeling. That's, that's valuable to know that somebody has been there before us, that somebody understands it, and that they have tools to help us, and that's what I've got for you. I've got tools I've got empathy. I do understand. I get it. I also am in the process. And I will always be in process. I will be becoming more and more the beautiful, authentic person that I am meant to be. And the best part of maybe where I'm at right now is that I've recognized over the last recently, I don't know, two years maybe, I can love myself in the process a lot more. I have a lot more compassion for myself instead of judging myself and looking back at my past self or looking at my present self and being -Ohh no. I'm able to embrace the fact that you know what? I'm in the process. Here's where I'm at. And I'm going to show up and be me in it. I know we all have our condition patterns, the ways that our childhood affected us, and the things that became easy for us, that may be toxic, that may not be helping us in our present life, and as we recognize what those condition patterns are, the next step is saying what do we want to do about it. And then finding help to do something about it and getting the support you need. What is it for you? What is a condition pattern that you recognize, I fall back into this and it's really, it's borderline toxic and it's least not helping me out and I don't want to continue in it. And once you've determined that. Then find help, myself or someone else, and together let's get you where you want to go.

Let me take you back 6 years... Corinne shares her story Rest is such an important topic. Not new news. I know. But, do we live as if rest is important? Think about how cranky and irritable you might be before a nap or a good night of sleep, and then how you feel after it. Creating a lifestyle of rest is vital to health. A lifestyle of rest simplifies everything. You’ll say “no” to a lot more. Your days and your schedule will be easier. You’ll be able to go at a slower pace. It’ll be more gentle on your body and mind. It’s an incredible trade to a hectic full schedule. I recognize many of us are conditioned to be on the go all day, every day. For lots of us that’s what was modeled as we grew up.I grew up with a father who praised productivity and a mother who needed a lot of help because she was incredibly overwhelmed and unhappy with her life. So that’s how I learned to live abandoning myself and my needs. What was modeled to you as you grew up? What did parental figures define as good? Were you conditioned to go-go-go at the expense of your energy and health?Guess what, rest is productive! Give yourself permission to take breaks; be easy on yourself; rest when you need, and be prepared to disappoint people. You can still be responsible, stick with your commitments, have good follow through, and be productive. Remember, rest is productive!Sometimes you can’t MAKE something happen. When you are physically, mentally or otherwise exhausted, you must rest to rejuvenate.Rest may look different for you than for me. Some of us enjoy being with people and others of us want to be alone to recharge. Whatever it is for you, do something relaxing that you enjoy! Be intentional to rest and relax. Rest is first a choice. If you deny yourself rest, it will become a demand. What can you do when you’re tired and there’s not an opportunity to rest? 1. Accept kindness. Don’t get caught up in qualifying how it has to look or what it has to be.2. Get outdoors! Nature is naturally grounding. 3. Practice compassion. Become compassionate towards yourself and others. Ex: When you’re frustrated with yourself and don’t like the way you’re responding, or perhaps you are unhappy with yourself that you can’t keep up with it all. You may want to say to yourself, “I’m doing the best I can, and what I have to offer is enough.” What we have to offer will vary depending on the season we’re in. You are doing the best you can, and that’s okay!4. Pause and Breathe. Throughout the day, slowly and deliberately inhale and exhale. By creating a lifestyle of rest we are showing up for ourselves in a tremendous way. We have always deserved this type of attention and care! Creating a lifestyle of rest is a really practical way of showing up for yourself to self parent.--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/corinne-guido-powell/message
It starts early… when we see our kids as people, people who need to be heard, understood, recognized and given a place it makes a big difference.
Children are individuals. They’re people just like you and me!
Q: How do you see your kids? Do you see them as having something to contribute and valuable? They’re not going to become valuable at some point. They’ve always been valuable!
Becoming a safe place for our kids comes when we listen, when we don’t always have something to say to them about what they’re doing or not doing. Let’s not make everything into a big deal. I’m not saying we should never address something with our kids, or that they shouldn’t be corrected. Opening ourselves up to other peoples’ opinions is important. But, we don’t always need to do that.
Put yourself in your kids shoes. Witness yourself. Become aware of how you show up as a parent.
There are times when things are a big deal to us because its activating something in us. We might be projecting something onto our kids that is all about us and has nothing to do with them.
Q: Which one of your kids is the hardest for you to deal with?
Reminder! A child is not responsible to comfort an adult.

Trauma isn't necessarily what we go through but how we go through it.
Today we’re going to discuss how you can support your kids when you’re going through a difficult time. Maybe it’s a traumatic time. Remember, trauma is not about the event, it’s about how we interpret and experience the event. We can go through the same event and one of us is traumatized and the other isn't.
We need to start by acknowledging that what we model to our kids is more important than anything else. We’ve heard it said that actions speak louder than words—they really do! First, it starts with us. That’s why each one of us doing the inner work is so important. Our kids will learn by observing us. How are YOU going through difficult situations? How are you dealing with the trauma in your life? Past or present—doesn’t matter. Remember that is going to impact your kids more than anything else.
Being a support to your children looks like being there to listen as they talk. Maybe it’s just being quiet so they can talk. Maybe it’s asking them what the most difficult part of their day was or the most exciting part of their day. Something besides “How was your day?” Become a safe place for your children where they can actually share their hearts. That’s going to mean when they share you can’t pounce on them. If you do, it’s likely they’ll stop sharing. Remember it’s a gift when a child shares with you, letting you in on the little happenings in their day, that they feel safe enough to tell you.
What I'm sharing doesn't only relate to kids, it’s how to relate to people in general. Your friend or family member says something that you have a completely different opinion on—and a strong one at that. Pause, friend. Watch yourself. Pausing and recognizing what we’re going to say before we say it gives us a chance to actually do it differently. That pause is powerful. It is important.
Everyone hopes to have a safe place to share without needing an opinion in response. There are times that someone is looking for feedback or an honest opinion. If you’re not sure, ask them if they are open to your feedback. We often give our opinion when nobody is asking for it. That’s where we have to be careful.
Become a safe place for your children to share. Model for them how to be transparent and express emotions so that they can do the same. If you feel the need to cry, there’s going to be times you need to let yourself cry in front of your kids. When I do this—some of my kids hate to see me cry—I let them know that Mommy is feeling something right now. Sometimes my tears aren’t even because I’m sad. Sometimes they’re because I’m filled with gratitude and an inexpressible joy and it shows up through tears. I’ve had to let my kids know that I feel this way and get to express my emotions too. I suppressed and shut down my emotional response when I was younger for numerous reasons.
Start with yourself. Be vulnerable. Be transparent. You don’t need to tell your kids everything that’s going on. They certainly don’t need to be your therapist. I don’t mean be vulnerable and transparent where you’re sharing all of your troubles with your children. Their job and responsibility isn’t to be there for you in that way. Don’t make your kids your support system—even when they’re adults. Be friends, but don’t unload all of your problems on them every time. That’s what a therapist is for. It’s easy to treat some kids that way because they’re empaths and eager to listen. Be careful to not put that all on them.
What else can we do to help our kids who are going through a difficult time? Ensure there are places and spaces and times where they get to do fun things. It’s really easy to forget about doing fun lighthearted things when you’re going through a difficult season.

Today's episode is taken from a group session that I recently hosted. I share several practical ways you can alleviate and eliminate stress during the holiday season and all year round!
EPISODE NOTES:
Some things that I think are important that I’ve adopted as I’ve simplified my life and walked out of people pleasing and codependency, are knowing what you want the holidays to look like and then structuring your yes or no along those lines. So when you sit and ask what you want the holidays to be like, bullet point some of the values. Do I want it to be slow and low key? A time of connection? Spend a lot of money or not? Knowing what you value will help you be aligned with the season of life you’re in right now. There’s times we can be busy during the holidays and times we may need to slow it down and that may vary year to year.
Knowing the season you’re in and knowing what’s valuable to you, helps you to know what to say yes to and what to say no to. When you’ve set your intention for the season, it’s easier to respond to people because you’re not basing your answer off of the emotion of the moment. You’re responding based on something that’s bigger. You’re adapting to it, but it’s maybe not yours—just a general idea. Stepping back to consider why you do what you do is a great place to be.
Are you doing things based on expectations from society or other people? If so, I’m encouraging you to evaluate. Consider your growing up years. Some of the things we do are simply because it’s all we’ve ever known. Just because you’ve done something a certain way before, you don’t have to do it that way every year. Something that could feel disappointing this year, may only feel disappointing for this particular year.
A lot of times around the holidays we’re surrounded by family we may or may not get along with. Some people cope with being around difficult people by drinking or smoking more to help making being around those people more tolerable. There’s another way. Knowing your boundaries and limits ahead of time. Predetermining them. If there’s someone who’s hard to be around, you don’t have to go for the whole event. Some people may ask why you’re leaving early—that’s ok. They’re allowed to ask and it doesn’t have to change your boundary.
When a confrontation arises and you’re not running away, take a bathroom break to ground yourself. While you're there, take a few deep breaths, remind yourself of anything you need to hear (“I’m safe” while hugging yourself, “We’re allowed to have different viewpoints”)—give yourself a pep talk. Deliberately check in with yourself. Come back to your body instead of trying to escape it. We learn through what we experience in life, that at times it doesn’t feel safe to stay in our bodies so we disassociate—we’re somewhere else in our mind.
When we are trying to heal and change our patterns, we want to figure out how to come out of that dissociative place and re enter my body as clearly as things are going on right now. Noticing if your mouth is dry and you need water or if you’re warm and need to take off your sweater. It’s noticing so that we can be present in this moment with ourselves—not in our heads.
You can say you don’t want to continue the conversation you started with someone and just reintegrate with the group.
Let’s set the expectation that this holiday season is going to be full of joy and better than we’re expecting, better than we could imagine, and better than we’ve experienced in the past. That this year you’d actually be able to be in this season experiencing the fullness of joy.

Listen to my salad story and find out how that relates to the healing journey!
We are continuing the conversation about how you know that you are healing from codependency and people pleasing. I’m going to relay a story to you that happened at Panera Bread a few weeks ago. I wanted to get some work done so I brought my laptop with me and I ordered a salad with either a sandwich or soup. When I got my order, some of the lettuce leaves did not look fresh. In the past I would have thought to myself, “Ugh. I can deal with this. I don’t want to make a fuss or be an inconvenience.” Instead, I went back to the counter and asked them to remake my salad. I simply said the leaves did not look fresh and could you remake my salad.
If you have come out of people pleasing, you completely understand what I mean when I say I didn’t want to be an inconvenience. You’re regretting your decision to not go back and ask, but you’re also not going back and asking. In the past, if my friend had an issue with her salad, I would have no issue going up to the counter to ask for a new salad, but for myself, I would not have done it. It’s a beautiful thing when we start treating ourselves with love and respect and when I treat myself as well as the other person. That’s an indicator you’re growing in self love and self care. To use your voice and be able to advocate for yourself.
I had to be aware of the intrusive thoughts that came afterwards. “Maybe they thought you were too much. Come on, you could have eaten the salad like that. What was it going to do? It wasn’t going to harm you.” I just let those thoughts be. “No. It’s fine that I asked. I paid for this and now I’m happy with what I got. I enjoyed my salad.”
This is one way you can know. I am healing. I am changing. This is a story about a salad, but it applies to so many areas in our life. When people are speaking to us and interacting with us in ways we don’t like, we have an opportunity to speak up and use our voice to advocate and stand up for ourselves.
These are all good things for any of us coming out of codependency and people pleasing. We learn to put ourselves on the back burner and to grin and bear it. When we disempower negative stories and stop projecting onto everyone else based on some of the past experiences we’ve had. You legitimately were told you were too much or that you should just grin and bear it. You might have heard or experienced these things. The point isn’t that we now live our life based on what our parental figures or someone else in our life said to us or about us. It’s time to reevaluate and you get to decide for yourself. What feels best for me? What is aligned with the direction I am going now? What is actually true to my authentic self?
You can know that if you’re standing up and using your voice, that you are creating some rifts and you’re feeling the tension in the room because you’re saying things that are oppositional. It might get messy and your emotions may be all over the place. You may feel dysregulated. That’s ok. You have to start somewhere. If you’ve been used to shutting your voice down, you may feel dysregulated when you start using it. That’s part of the process. Over time, you get used to it. When we’re initially doing it, it’s uncomfortable. It’s unknown. We may not know how to navigate it. It’s ok to learn as you go. It’s ok for it to be messy. It’s ok to even go back later and apologize—not necessarily for everything, but for maybe how it came out. Sometimes it’s going to be messy and we’re going to need grace in that. Even if the other person is not ok with it, it doesn’t mean we have to stop speaking up.
I’m ready to help you. I understand what it’s like to shut yourself down. I believe who you authentically are is worth getting to know.

Do you ever wonder if the work you're doing on the healing journey is actually changing and healing you? In today's episode we're going to talk about how you can know that you are moving in a positive direction!!
Let this be encouragement to you. As you go on your healing journey, this is what will come to you. I didn’t get here through a week’s worth of work. I don’t say this to scare you off. I’ve been at this for sixteen years. It’s been layered. I wasn’t always doing super deep work. There have been seasons where I was meeting weekly with someone for sessions. There have been times I’ve done my own work and I’ve sought out resources to grow and cultivate change. One part that stands out to me that is imperative to finding yourself in a different place than you once were, is the practice. You must put in your own intentional practice. The things you hear me talk about are things that have to be practiced to become something you’re comfortable doing.
As you saw with the episode title, we are talking about ways you can know you are walking out of people pleasing and codependency. The codependent people pleaser makes themselves small so that they can fit in and don’t make waves or upset anyone. They’re looking for how to keep the peace in the room. How can I keep people from getting upset or offended? Tension is good. It’s necessary.
Working through that is also important. Sometimes people explode and nothing comes of it. There’s no other conversation or resolution. There’s no “why did I explode? Why do I feel so dysregulated?” We have to have the ongoing dialogue between ourselves and others to be changing, healing, and becoming the person we long to be. The one who is free to show up and be themselves.
I don’t mean to be callous, uncaring, harsh, critical, or rude by showing up and being ourselves. I think it’s important to be kind. There’s some sort of balance in all of this. When you’ve gone off the deep end and you’ve become the chameleon who blends in wherever they must and hides their true self, this is for you.
How do I know I’ve walked out of codependency and people pleasing? One way is I’m more comfortable expressing my true thoughts and opinions even when I know the person across from me just said they believe the opposite of what I’m going to say. I’m willing to actually say what I think instead of talking my way out of it and saying, “well if I say that they might feel offended or hurt or misunderstood or they may misunderstand me.” It’s worth it to this relationship for me to show up being me. They can accept me, they can like me, they can say I don’t like her, they can reject me, or they can agree to disagree. We can at least know who we’re dealing with. We can choose into that relationship deliberately. We can say “I really like that person and I want to be friends with them and get to know them more or I’m glad they showed me who they are, but this is not the type of person I want to hang out with.” Both are ok, but we don’t know that when we don’t show up authentically.
We may really like who someone is, but we don’t know who they truly are because they’re afraid to show up as themselves. There are so many reasons as to why we don’t show up as who we are. There are so many past experiences that translate into us believing it’s not worth it and it’s better off to not show up and show my true self. It’s time to explore the idea of why we believe that. You should get to show up and be yourself. You should get to show up and show your heart. It’s going to feel messy and vulnerable. That’s ok.
Messy isn’t scary for all of us. Some of us are comfortable with messy. I’d rather you show up and be yourself than the fraud and hypocrite. You deserve to be found and loved for who you authentically are. Every child should be able to feel loved for who they are. We should be able to show up in our messiness—even as little kids.

Do you want to find out how to grow your intuition? Today I will share some of my process that has helped me grow my own. If you're interested to strengthen your intuitive knowing, there are practical steps you can take away and implement!
What you hear today will give you a little framework for my coaching/teaching style. I like to just share. I hope that what you hear today is something you can take and run with. If you want to dive deeper, reach out to me! I’d love to help.
Intuitive living is a duel. It’s based in spirituality and us trusting our own inner knowing. This will be challenging if you’ve been conditioned to believe that you can’t trust yourself and that you don’t know well enough. It can be through a set of underlying beliefs that our parents had that are modeled to us and unconsciously picked up. We then end up, in many ways, as our parents did. We are able to change those patterns and break out of any cycles that we want, but it will take energy and effort.
I wanted to share a few basic things regarding your intuition. A lot of it is going to be growing your sense of trust in yourself. It’s going to start by keeping promises to yourself. When you say you’re going to do something—follow through. That might mean you’re going to take a walk today. But then you get busy throughout the day and things come up. Make sure if you say you’re going to take a walk, you still get out, even if it’s for 2 minutes and you take a short walk. It’s much better for your entire being that you follow through. Cognitive dissonance is when we say one thing and do another. It’s toxic and not good for our brains and bodies. It’s better for your brain for you to show up as who you authentically are. You’ll feel a sense of satisfaction taking the short walk. It’s ok that it was short. You still followed through and kept the promise to yourself.
Another factor that is important in strengthening your intuition is learning to become aware of your body and physical sensations. That will be a gradual process. Becoming mindful is when you recognize why you do what you do and you pause before you do it. You consider “Do I want to do this? What is underneath this idea?” We can become aware of what's going on in our bodies on the regular.
Sometimes I feel tension in my shoulder blades and I know I’m holding onto responsibility. I’m holding the pressure. I’m believing that all of the pressure is on me. Sometimes I’ll do an actual movement to release that or I’ll breathe. There are many things you can do, but getting more connected with yourself is going to be a sure means of strengthening your intuition. You’re also going to have to practice. That means you will fail or make a mistake part of the time. To fail is a normal part of living.
I had to practice following through on my intuitive senses. There’s been times recently where I have felt like I needed to bring my laptop bag with me. I won’t know why because I didn’t need my bag. I’ll be driving along and then realize my wallet was in my laptop bag and I needed to have my wallet with me. Logically I would have left my laptop bag at home. The worst thing that could have happened with me following my intuition is that I would have had my laptop bag with me and I didn’t need it. The best part is that I
It’s learning to listen and follow through on the things that we sense. There may be times where we get it wrong. There are times I sense I’m supposed to say something to somebody and I don’t know if it resonates with them or not. It’s loving, kind, encouraging things. I’m following through. Either way, someone gets to hear something nice about themselves! There are many times when the recipient needed to hear what I share, and I didn’t know it beforehand.
Growing your intuition and strengthening your inner knowing comes through a deeper confidence in yourself. I channel the source of Unconditional Love as I am meditating.

This is an excerpt taken from a recent group session.
EPISODE NOTES:
Learning to love ourselves and really take care of ourselves changes life so profoundly. If we have a parental figure who is not emotionally capable of taking care of themselves or to take care of us, we can learn to put our own needs aside. We learn how to make sure everyone else is ok. If mom or dad isn’t angry, we feel safer. Sometimes as grown adults, the byproduct is that we don’t honor our own needs because we’ve learned so well how to put ourselves aside.
That’s where we need to go on this journey to keep promises to ourselves. When we feel like we need to do something for ourselves, it means honoring that. Honoring your needs in a small way is still ok. If you’re needing a bath and sit in it for 2 minutes, that’s better than disregarding something your body is saying you need. It’s better for your brain and body if you say “I honored it and did what I felt I needed to do.” It doesn’t matter the length of it. You can grow in how long you do something.
The act of doing it is extremely powerful. It’s really important for our brains to not give in to the cognitive dissonance—to say one thing, but do another. To do what we say we’re going to do is really important and good for our brains and bodies. Take notice of how your body feels when you do that. It’s a release of tension. If all day long I say I want to go for a walk, and I never do, I feel this agitation inside. If I say all day long I want to go for a walk and I make a point to take even a short one, it’s so worth it on so many levels.
Have reasonable expectations of ourselves. It’s not helpful to list 10 things we need to do. It’s not helpful when we set the bar too high. Baby steps. Set reasonable and manageable goals that we can accomplish and feel very satisfied. If we’re reasonable with ourselves and follow through—we can build on that. We have to start small if we’re not keeping promises to ourselves right now.
We should be able to trust ourselves most out of anyone. We can’t decide who’s going to show up or how dependable they’re going to be. But if we know we’re going to show up for ourselves and we’re dependable, that’s a big deal! When we follow through on things, we can fine tune them.
It can be really hard if you are someone who is intuitive and you bring things up to people and they deny your senses because of their own guilt or experiences. It can really disrupt your trust in yourself. It doesn’t always mean you were wrong. Sometimes the other person isn’t in a place to open up.

EPISODE NOTES:
I'm going to intuitively speak to everyone. Close your eyes to help you receive it or keep them open—I don’t care. Just open your heart up to receive. Take a few deep breaths and think about inhaling peace and rest and exhale negativity. I want to remind you that you are not your stressors and that your stressors are not your life. They are a small portion of your life. You are not responsible for the people around you. You are not responsible for their emotions or life choices.
As we move down from our shoulders, notice if you feel any tightness in your chest or stomach area. Whether you do or don’t, I just want to let your inner child know they are safe and loved. There is nothing you need to fear. If something comes up that makes you afraid, you can share that. You will not be made fun of or criticized for your feelings.
To every part of you who has a preconceived idea of who you need to be or how you need to show up, I say to everyone of those ideas and thoughts—shhh you don’t have power in this space because freedom is here. Everyone here is allowed to express themselves—to show up however they need. All of your parts are welcome. The part of yourself that learned to be quiet is allowed to show up here. The parts of yourself that have been pushed to other corners are allowed to come back and be integrated back in. A big part of healing is integrating back into ourselves and allowing parts of us to come back so that we can become our authentic self—the fullness of who we were created to be.
One of the questions asked by a member was how to move on when you’re emotionally triggered. Feeling triggered means when we feel extreme intense emotion that can feel like it’s spiraling us downward or amping us up. It’s based on a subconscious belief that we believe about ourselves, others, or life in general and that belief is affecting our perception and feelings at that moment. We can be triggered in so many ways. One way I am triggered is if someone tries to tell me how I should feel or what I should think. It’s a sensitive spot because I grew up in that type of environment where my feeling states were somewhat dictated to me. Certain emotions were accepted and others weren't. If I can recognize that I’m feeling like they’re trying to shut me down then I can acknowledge, it’s really about them and how they’re thinking and feeling right now. If I look at it from that perspective then I can say it’s not about me, it’s about them. It takes practice. Let me pause. Take a breath. And not let it get to me. Are you already aware of one of your main triggers?
It’s easier said than done, but sometimes it’s good practice to not have a defense. Sometimes we shouldn’t waste our energy trying to convince someone of something. We may be misunderstood, but at least we’re being true to ourselves. I understand myself, even if other people do not. When we love people, it’s hard to see them in a difficult place and leave them there, not trying to rescue. There’s not much we can do about it if they won't.
It’s good to let emotions show up and present themselves, but it’s not good to dwell on the future and have that trip us up.
Being aware of your thoughts is the first thing. You can change the thoughts. You can disempower the thoughts. You can say “No, that's not what I’m going to focus on.” You can choose another narrative. You choose the narrative you presently do based on subconscious beliefs. Why am I telling myself I probably didn’t do well? Changing the story is always a choice. We get to choose what we do with our thoughts. They’re only thoughts.

Are you curious what it looks and sounds like to self parent (aka reparenting)? Listen to one of my own experiences had recently!
EPISODE NOTES:
I want to talk to you today about reparenting and what that looks like in real time. Some people call it self parenting. It's a way that we look at the little kid we once were and take care of that child that didn't receive all the nurturance, love, and attention that was needed.
Even though there are many ways we reparent, this is a prime example of how I especially find comfort. I was having a hard day. I was so energetically low, I felt depressed. I was having a hard time all day. I remember heading to my home office and I paused in front of the door. I felt a sense of no, don't do that right now. Recognize your inner child—little Corinne. So I sat on my bed and placed my hands over my heart and recognized I was emotionally flashing back. What I was feeling that day was actually similar to how I felt as a child.
I grew up homeschooled until high school. The home I grew up in was dysfunctional and chaotic. My mom was overwhelmed doing the best she knew how, but it was a really stressful environment. I remember having chest pains and stomach aches often. The chest pains and stomach aches were a manifestation of the stress and anxiety that was in my surroundings. It was a lonely existence. I didn't realize that as a kid. As a teenager, I thought I had a pretty good childhood. It wasn't until I moved deeper into doing the inner work that I realized wow, I actually experienced a lot of traumatic events. Sometimes emotional neglect is what's traumatic. Sometimes it's outright abuse. I experienced both.
So I realized what I as feeling that day was what the little girl in me knew. Little Corinne knew this feeling. I sat there and let the tears flood me. I was sobbing. I was feeling for that little girl and I was speaking out loud to her, visualizing her in my mind's eye. Giving myself a hug. Rocking back and forth as I sat on the bed. All of these are ways our body is able to release some stored trauma and experience some of the nurture and care from our own selves. We've always lived in the same body. The body you had as a little kid is the same body you have now. As a grown adult, I was able to give attention to that little girl and to express that I'm so sorry and sad that you didn't have the attention you needed. I'm sorry that your mom didn't know how to be the mom that you needed. I'm sorry that your every day was so often lonely and sad and depressing.
I was in the moment. I don't know all the things I said to my inner self. I spoke the words that I thought the inner little girl needed to hear. It was soothing. It was calming. It was cleansing. As I sobbed and held myself. This was a prime way I was reparenting/self parenting and taking back time. Time is relative. I could step back into that past memory in the apartment I grew up in. I could visualize it so clearly. I could visualize the pain my heart and psyche knew. It didn't get immediately better, but I did feel a sense of cleansing. I felt a sense of comfort. I felt like I had acknowledged a part of me that I never knew needed acknowledgement. I felt like I understood a part of me that hours before I didn't understand. Healing is layered. My entire being was able to soak up that love and care.
It can be such a touchy subject saying what am I saying about my parents. This is not me in any way saying I didn't have good parents. They did the best they knew how, but that doesn't mean I received everything I needed. You may have wonderful parents and they may have done the best they knew how, but it doesn't mean you received everything you needed either.

We're talking about enmeshment today and how codependency can have us thinking that our emotional states have to match the way others around us are feeling. If I'm happy then you must be too. If you're sad, maybe I should lower my energetic frequency to match yours. Is that really how it should be? Listen to find out!
EPISODE NOTES:
Do you relate to sometimes feeling like your emotions have to be happy and positive for everyone else to be ok? Or do you feel like you need the other person to not be in a grumpy mood because it affects you?
Would you like to be able to just show up how you are and not worry about how it affects the person next to you? Or would you like to show up and not have other people’s emotions affect you?
If you want that to be the case, I’m here to help you. It’s what I do all the time. I’ve learned how to walk out of codependency.
Sometimes we need others who are not feeling as down as we are to come in and be light around us. We long for someone to come alongside us and tell us that it is possible that one day we won’t feel as down and dark as we do today and that we can see the sun again. We long for hope. We long for a strong possibility that things will get better. When others say yes there is hope! It can bring so much peace that we’re longing for.
You are allowed to have your emotions and others are allowed to have theirs. Our emotional states don’t have to match.
If you have questions, send me an email or dm. We can be really specific to your situation in one on one or group sessions with me. I hope you can mull over what I’m saying and know there’s a way out.
When we get dysregulated because others are dysregulated, it escalates. My encouragement is to pause and take deep breaths. Repeat them until you start to feel more settled. Whether it’s outloud or in your mind, remind yourself that you are allowed to have different emotions and experiences from others—even about the same situation. It is ok that you’re having a hard time right now.
No matter how you show up, you are worthy of love. You are beautiful. There’s nothing wrong with you.

In today's episode Peta Coote and I continue the conversation we started last week. Peta is a non-clinical, certified intuitive eating coach and self kindness guide. Peta works with adults coaching in self kindness, body image, self worth, and intuitive eating as well as in schools around the world with children and teenagers. Let’s talk about secret eating, stress eating, and comfort eating!
Stress eating and comfort eating are very normal. When we were young we were comforted by milk. When stress/comfort eating, it’s useful to ask before we reach for food, is there anything better that will serve me right now/long term? (Taking a break, connecting with a friend, going for a walk, watching a show, getting to bed early, etc)
We use food to numb feelings, bury things down that are going on and it works well for about 10 minutes. Then everything floods back! Sometimes nothing will soothe us better than food. In that case, don’t deny yourself! Because if you do, it’s really unkind. If you’re going to choose to eat something, make it a lovely self care moment for yourself. If ice cream for example, grab a bowl you love, a blanket, and light a candle. Then sit and enjoy slowly!
Secret eating has a lot of shame surrounding it as well. If you secret eat, try to trace it back to the first time it started and why it began. (Peta shares examples)
The act of secret eating isn’t the worst part about it. It’s the shame and guilt that weighs on us that’s worse! To whoever we are hiding the secret eating from, we can acknowledge it and stating that we’re trying to work on my relationship with food and my self…I won’t be hiding it from you anymore. You may have an opinion different than mine, but for now I don’t want you to share your opinion with me. I just don’t want to hide. Many times when not hiding, the behavior stops.
You can give yourself permission to eat whatever you want whenever you want! Many times if you eat things as often as you want you get tired of it and want something different. As humans, we like variety in our diet! When we give ourselves permission to eat what we want when we want we eat ourselves out of having certain foods be on a pedestal. It’s a process. Pick a food that you have on a pedestal and tell yourself you can have it whenever you want. If ice cream, pick a certain flavor…It’s helpful for our brains to work through foods by choosing one at a time.
We’re not saying nutrition isn’t important! It’s one of the key principals within the 10 of intuitive eating, but gentle nutrition must come in time. First we have to let go of all of the rules that society/diet culture has put on food.

Listen and enjoy Part I of the conversation I had with the fabulous Peta Coote! Peta is a non-clinical, certified intuitive eating coach and self kindness guide. Peta works with adults coaching in self kindness, body image, self worth, and intuitive eating as well as in schools around the world with children and teenagers. She is a gem and also very gifted in what she does. Here is a brief recap of what we talked about.
We are born intuitively knowing when we are hungry and when we are full. Sometimes as we grow, our intuition gets disrupted by well meaning people who tell us how to eat, when to eat, and how much to eat and we stop sensing the subtle cue our body would otherwise be giving.
The principles work through learning hunger and fullness, honoring your hunger and fullness, letting go of dieting beliefs, noticing your energy levels…Which foods sustain your energy levels and which ones don’t last long?
Learning to eat intuitively helps us learn our gut instinct and helps us get to know ourselves better.
Mindful eating is different in the sense that it’s more about noticing how food tastes, etc.
Peta answers the question about how to begin to feel the sensation of hunger if you don’t presently. It’s a lot more satisfying to eat when you’re feeling hungry than when you’re not!
Get curious about what your body needs…what it enjoys…what sustains your body. Be nonjudgmental as you get curious. During the night our body does a whole lot of resets. It needs fuel.

Today I am going to share intuitively from my heart to yours. Get comfy (listen even if you can't get comfy!) and prepare to soak up some kindness.
EPISODE NOTES:
I want to intuitively share from my heart, words that I believe your heart needs to hear. There may be some pauses and moments of quiet between my words. During that time, take note of what’s going on in your body. Whatever you might feel—just notice it.
I want to encourage you to take some deep breaths. If you can, get yourself into a comfortable spot. If you’re able to lay down—go for it! If you’re not able to, it’s ok.
You are important. You matter. I am so sad and angry for the moments you have not felt like you matter because of what people have said and done to you. It makes me angry because it’s not as it should be. You deserve to be loved and cared for and respected. When people do and say things that are the opposite of that—it shouldn’t be like that. It’s not ok.
There’s no one else quite like you and that’s a good thing! I want to invite you to express your authentic self. Who would you be if you didn’t care what people think? Who are you? What do you like? How do you want to express yourself? Express your authentic self where you feel comfortable. Once you’re comfortable, you can continue expressing yourself everywhere.
Life was meant to be enjoyed. You should get to enjoy the life you’re living. Hard times don’t have to be the norm. It once was my norm—just getting by and surviving. It’s not that way anymore—I actually enjoy the life I’m living now. It’s possible for you.
The healing journey isn’t easy, but it is satisfying and worth it. Sometimes the hard times produce something good. Exercising is not always easy or fun, but usually it feels satisfying and is worth it in the end. That’s the same as the healing journey.
Who you are is good. You are not dirty. You are not bad. You are not too much.
I am so glad that you are alive. We need you. Just you being you. You matter. You are important.
It’s normal to have thoughts that are opposite to what I just shared. If you self sabotage and criticize yourself, it’s even more important to choose. We always get to choose the thoughts that we think. It may not feel that way, but if we take a hold of our thoughts, we can. What’s familiar is what shows up in our thoughts. You can choose to change your thoughts.
Sometimes it takes standing in front of the mirror and speaking to yourself. The thoughts that we think affect us. They affect us on a cellular level. We get to choose what narrative we have towards ourselves and what thoughts we’re going to think. Becoming mindful is becoming more aware.
What are you going to do with what I just said? Are you going to absorb it or deflect it?
If what I said resonated with you and you’d like to connect more, contact me at corinne@changeradically.com.

What are boundaries, why are they important and how can we start implementing them?
EPISODE NOTES:
Today I want to discuss boundaries with you—why it’s important to set boundaries, what it looks like to set boundaries, and how it can benefit your life. Boundaries are a way to honor your needs and yourself. They are a way of taking care of yourself. Boundaries are not necessarily to be used to protect yourself from things.
Boundaries can be as simple as saying “I’m not going to do this, but I am going to do this”—and sticking with it. Boundaries are and look different for different people. You’re going to evolve and change. Some of the boundaries you have now, you won’t need in the future because they will become a lifestyle. Initially you’re going to need to hold yourself to whatever promise or commitment you make. It’s actually very good for your mind and body to be able to depend on you. It’s super important to honor your promises to yourself.
It’s never a child’s job to help the adult to be ok. A child is not supposed to have to be the parental figure.
Boundaries become a way for our bodies and psyches to know that we will actually be there to advocate for and ensure the wellness of our own self. Boundaries are also a way for other people to understand us and what to expect from us. People become very accustomed to what we do and how we show up. If you feel like you’re often taken advantage of, I encourage you to start evaluating what you’re doing, the way you’re living, the patterns that you’re keeping that allow people to take advantage of you.
I’m a big proponent of shining the spotlight back on ourselves to discover what it is in us that we can change to affect the reality around us. Ask yourself “What have I been doing that’s been encouraging this person to take advantage of me?” There are situations where we feel like we’re being taken advantage of and it’s because we allowed ourselves to be. We go the extra mile, we do all the things, we say yes, we host the events, we don’t let people help us, over and over again. In that case, we have allowed people to take advantage of us. By saying no to things, we train people what to expect from us. It may be a shock to some people at first for you to start saying no, but overtime, they’ll learn. If they can’t handle the relationship changing, then it’s for the best. It’s important for the people closest to you to respect your boundaries.
If we want to live in an emotionally well place, then the type of people we want in our life will be the type of people who respect us.
Start with one or two boundaries for the most important things and practice getting used to them. Slowly bring in more. Be consistent. When you see you’re being consistent, bring in another boundary.
If you want to talk more about this, reach out at corinne@changeradically.com.

In today's episode I share what's been going on over the last several months, some of which I haven't shared publicly yet on the podcast.
EPISODE NOTES:
Today’s episode is to catch you up on a bit of my life lately. We moved to another town in Connecticut at the end of April. This home is the first home, to me, that really feels homey. Everything about it has a different feel from our last home, but it feels very homey. Anytime we go through a change, there’s going to be things we leave behind that we miss. There are also going to be things that we receive and gain as we move forward. You know I’m always willing to take the change because what’s on the other side is probably worth it. Change is usually going to be satisfying. We are now in the central part of Connecticut.
I have not felt well most of this pregnancy. The pregnancy with my son was the easiest and I felt the best. We’re waiting to find out what the gender is, but with how I’m feeling, I’m thinking it’s a girl.
We purposefully took a long break from having kids so that my body could recover. I did a lot of things to help my body recover and one of those things was doing the inner work. I learned I have to stop racing through life. I used to have jam packed schedules every day. I now plan much fewer things throughout my days. I live a slower paced life purposefully. It’s how I want my kids to experience life. Their extracurriculars are not super time consuming for us. I want them to have time to relax, rest, and connect with us as a family.
Part of restoring my health was doing the inner work and changing the pace of my life. Another part was understanding what my body needed.
I used to donate blood and at some point it became harder—as if my body did not want to do it. The last time I went, I was physically not able to give blood. I found out my iron stores were depleted. I’ve been working to bring those levels up and as I have, my energy has come back. I no longer have the extreme fatigue that I once did.
I also started intermittent fasting. My body thrives on intermittent fasting. Doing intermittent fasting balanced out my body. I no longer have the symptoms I lived with for years on end. My body does so well with it. I feel well when I intermittently fast. Those are the ways that I’ve changed for my health.
My husband has also changed his schedule to be more present when I need a break. This summer, he agreed to take the kids for a day so I could get a lot of real work done. He also took the kids for a day just so I could have time to myself. I really shouldn’t be overextending myself. In the end, it doesn’t serve me. That’s an example of how we’ve been sharing the parenting load this summer. He is helping out in the ways I need. If I asked for more days, he would make it happen. We do a lot of life together. We do a lot of parenting together. I personally think that should be what more of us do. Parents are always on call. That adds pressure to us—knowing that at any moment we could be called to action regardless of the time.
There are all these different facets to what’s been going on in my life. I’ve been more on the quieter side just because I can’t keep up with everything. It’s important to be compassionate towards ourselves and recognize that different seasons allow for different things. Right now I had to slow down. I’m really glad to be back and looking forward to what’s ahead. Let’s connect. I would love to start talking about things that are of interest specifically to you.

Let's continue to talk about how we can change the dynamic of our relationships! It’s helpful to remember that stuff is coming into our relationships that isn’t even about us and the other person, but about stuff from our pasts. We can learn to be ok even if the other person isn’t. Our joy doesn’t have to depend on their joy. As people pleasers, we think we’ll feel ok once we’ve made everyone around us feel ok. Sometimes religious phrases trigger me. I thought it was because I don’t like the boxed in religious mindset. It’s not that. It’s because religious phrases make me think that I’m not allowed to feel. That I have to have this positive mindset—a willingness to always look at the bright side. It was empowering to realize it’s not the religious element that’s upsetting me. It’s the underlying idea that I was taught as a kid. I was conditioned to believe I could not feel the whole range of emotions. Feeling anger is not a problem. What I do WITH my anger could become a problem! When I take care of how I respond, it changes the dynamic of our relationship. With emotional health comes so much freedom. You can feel how you need to feel and I can let you be there without needing to rescue you from your uncomfortable emotions. When we’re triggered, we feel in some sort of way unsafe and insecure. When you feel triggered, your goal is to ground yourself so you can feel safe. Your body remembers when it has been unsafe. You’re only trying to find a means of safety and security—that’s why the trigger is there. It’s a normal byproduct of trauma. The problem isn’t being triggered, it’s what we internalize at that moment. The goal is to get yourself back into the present reality so that your mind and body know we’re not where we once were when someone was angry and we were physically unsafe. We’re in a different spot now—different experience. For further information, or to register for the program, email Corinne@changeradically.com

Do you struggle within your relationship? Do you wish your relationships could be easier, happier, with more emotional connection? Take a listen and learn how to change the dynamic of your relationships!
The goal isn’t to never be triggered or have conflict, the goal is to be aware of what’s going on to be able to better help yourself. Talking it through with the other person, we become more connected—to ourselves or the other people.
It is not always productive to pick up a conversation—even if you both may be in a more settled place.
What’s the point of identifying our triggers? The more we understand, the more we can be mindful as we start to feel. When you are triggered, pay attention to how your body feels. When I am stuck in an emotional flashback, I am very sensitive to noise. Once we’re more aware and more sensitive, we can step back from a conversation—where we’re still listening, but we’re also aware of what’s going on for us—we can realize that what they’re saying is making me feel the same sort of way that we felt in other relationships where we weren’t cared for.
It gets tricky when we assume that everyone else is treating us the same way that we have been treated in the past. We start to project on others what may not be the right thing to project on them. We can even interpret a look the wrong way because the look reminds us of somebody in the past who was harsh towards us and had that similar look. I’ve been around people and thought “They don’t like me” and then realized that they actually aren’t comfortable with or like themselves. I’m feeling what they’re projecting!
You’ll know you’re in an emotional flashback when you feel hyper-sensitive to stuff that normally doesn’t ruffle your feathers. It’s important during an emotional flashback to have compassion for ourselves. Not to say “Why am I here? I need to get out of this!” but to say “I recognize that it’s probably my inner child showing up. And that part of me is feeling unsafe, hurt, or neglected.” Emotionally flashing back is when we’re living in the present, but we’re really stuck in the past emotionally and our body is remembering.
Memories are changeable. You don’t lose the memory, but feelings in relation to memories change. You can revisit memories and they don’t hurt the same way.
We’re each bringing our past experiences into our relationship. We’re feeling a certain way and the other person is feeling a certain way and we’re playing off of each other. It’s tough and makes relationships complicated. Create a safe relationship with yourself. As we create a relationship with ourselves that is less toxic—when we understand why we feel the way we feel, why we’re triggered—we can then relate on a totally different level.
Other people can no longer manipulate how we’re emotionally doing. If we can learn to be secure and safe within our own body, we’re going to be able to navigate the conversations and experiences with other people on a whole other level.

Last week we talked about grieving. I mentioned at one point that grief can be compounded by past experiences. There may be times when you’re feeling more emotion than you need to—a compounded sense of emotion. It may be that you have had past experiences that carry trauma that is not yet resolved and it’s affecting you in the present day. My encouragement to you is to just to consider, are there things that you are going through in your life that you might be feeling a more intense emotion than you need to be. If you can find resolution and healing for some of my past traumatic experiences, then some of my present day won’t feel so difficult and painful.
The other piece I wanted to bring up is that I mentioned going through grief and allowing yourself to feel it is really important. Here’s why: if you allow yourself to feel the very difficult, challenging, uncomfortable emotions that are bound to show up if you are allowing grief to play its natural role, you will not always have to feel so horrible. It’s when we suppress, minimize, disassociate, deny what we’re feeling that in the future it shows up again full fledged in our face.
If you’re allowing yourself to feel, be loved, and be supported, still choose the perspective you want to have. Still let the sunshine hit your face, even though you feel the sadness. Life can feel bright again for you. Reach out for the support that is available to you.

Today’s episode is about grief. Grief is a lonely place. First, it’s important that you have compassion and tenderness towards yourself during your season of grief. That you allow yourself to grieve for as long as you need. This time of grief for me, I needed to give myself time to walk through it. Since I allowed myself to feel the emotions, they were really intense. I wasn’t denying them or suppressing them. I wasn’t disconnecting from myself.
It’s also important to give your body time to rest. When you’re going through a season of grief, you physically feel more fatigued. We’re connected emotionally, physically, and psychologically. Give yourself opportunities to sleep and rest. Continue to incorporate moments that are light and fun. Sometimes in the midst of grief you don’t want to do fun things. It’s a balance of feeling your feelings and seeing the sun shine. Joy and grief are able to coexist. Gratitude in the middle of your grief is so valuable. I will choose to see the gifts in my life right now even though I’m experiencing disappointment. You are allowed to feel good even if you’re in the middle of grieving. Allowed the joy and peace to be experienced.
I truly believe that even in the darkest of times, you can still see the sunshine. I speak from experience. I know it’s possible because I’ve done it.

SUGGESTIONS: Break up your day into a few different parts—have a short to-do list for each portion of the day. Be willing to change plans and give yourself a break as needed. Consider yourself along with your children. In parenting it’s easy to put our needs aside for the sake of what our children need, but as the parent we also have needs.
Ask yourself, what would make me feel better about the day? Look for the tasks that don’t take much brain power. You’ll still feel accomplished, but it’ll be more doable. Be willing to pivot and disappoint people.
Reflection Techniques
Check in during the morning before the day gets started, again right before lunch, and once more mid afternoon. Ask yourself the following questions during those check-ins.
Pausing to consider can shift the day!
REMINDER: You’re doing good enough. Perfection is not the goal. Let go of other peoples’ expectations.
How can you start to live out your life authentically? What do you authentically enjoy? Who is your authentic self?
What’s one step to take to start living authentically?

Today’s conversation focuses on how to deal with the stress of parenting, and how to teach children to be truly happy. Co-regulation is necessary for kids before we can expect self regulation. We come alongside our kids to help them emotionally regulate so they know how to manage their emotions. Parenting is stress inducing! It’s a hard job. Some say it’s a thank-less job, but seeing my children grow up, be empathetic, love people well, and add beauty to the planet feels like a big applause.
RECAP
If we want change for our kids, it must start with us. So much of what our children absorb is what we model to them. Our kids watch us. They model what they experience. They need to see us without our phones. They need time to connect with us, but it doesn’t need to be all day everyday. A little bit of focused time goes a long way!
Perfection is not the goal. If you’re a good enough parent your children will be okay! Every person needs therapy, no matter their parents.
Adults get to experience a full range of emotions, but kids are often told they can’t have tantrums, not to be grumpy, to be grateful. Can’t you just be happy? When this is the case, we’re denying their reality, suppressing their emotions and teaching them that only certain emotions are acceptable.
Respect your kids wishes! You would want to be respected if someone was trying to smother you and you asked them to stop. If they don’t want a hug, let it be. If you’re the one needing the hug, ask someone else for it. Don’t diminish your kids emotions. Try to understand by asking questions. Perhaps you notice they seem sad/upset, you can ask, do you notice any emotions you’re feeling? If you saw what happened you can give them language to use if they aren’t sure what emotions they’re feeling. (Ex: It seems like you’re sad or disappointed about what just happened.) Empathize with them. Step in and help them out.
Make sure to carve out space and time for yourself. Maybe it’s only ten minutes here, but that means it needs to be an hour the next day! Find supports and invest in them. Connect in person or remotely, but connect somehow!! You need to be energized so that you have what you need to your kids. Get the sleep you need!! It’s easier to respond to meltdowns and disrespect when we as the adult have gotten the rested we need!!

The healing journey infiltrates all areas of life and that includes what happens in the bedroom (or wherever you have sex!) In today’s episode I’m going to talk from my own story and end by sharing practical ways you can begin to restore feelings of safety within yourself during sex.
Because I personally experienced sexual trauma, sex was very triggering for me. If you struggle to connect emotionally or physically during sex, here's a suggestion. When a thought comes into your mind that will disrupt connection you can counter it with a positive thought. For example, when I feel unsafe and powerless in my body, I can remind myself that I am safe and loved in this present moment [because I am in fact in a secure, loving relationship with my husband and I do feel safe and loved with him.] It doesn’t erase what has happened in the past, and my body remembers what has happened in the past.. So does yours.
Have you experienced a time when your mind says I want sex but your body feels differently? I am often so excited in anticipation of sex, and then once we get into the act of it my body starts to shut down. I could go through the motions and not be emotionally connected or very engaged with my partner. But I wanted to engage! It just seemed like something kept getting in the way. It wasn’t til recently that I’ve discovered it’s my inner child remembering. My body experienced sexual trauma and it hasn’t forgotten. That powerless feeling was what I experienced as a young girl. Let’s just get it over with was what I remember thinking when I was a kid…. I had a feeling of dread and my body felt heavy. I felt so alone. I fought to get away from the perpetrator. But I was much weaker as a child than the grown ups were. The powerless feeling was legitimate when I was a kid. Even though other adults were around, they weren't protecting me. I recognize for some of them they felt powerless too. It’s not an excuse, they should have done more! They should have stepped in and put a stop to what was going on! But I do see why they didn’t do as much as they should have. Sometime it helps to understand and acknowledge why someone acts the way they do..
Because of my experiences, and the trauma I endured, I used to be hyper vigilant to try and protect my children from experiencing any trauma. I’ve recognized just as healing is available for me, it is also available for my children. Healing has helped me to have hope that pain doesn't always have to hurt. I've also realized that my nervous system isn’t meant to handle the stress of being overly protective of all those I love. I’m not supposed to carry the weight of the world on my shoulders!! It’s not our job to protect our children from everything that will hurt them. As hard as it may be to accept, we can’t protect our children and those we love from everything painful.
Now when I go through the motions and become disengaged from my husband during sex I recognize it is a by-product of my past experiences. Sometimes I have an easy time engaging and others times I don’t. I am gentle on myself, much more so than I was in the past. I remind myself the pressure is off. If I can’t have an orgasm that is okay. It's not my husband's fault! I allow myself to feel whatever emotions that surface, disappointment etc. and I allow myself to simply be. I recognize that I will be able to engage more fully in the future as I heal more. Healing happens over time, layer by layer.
Here are some practical ways to help you restore safety within your body during sex. This will be much easier with a safe, understanding partner who is willing to be with you in the middle of your experience without needing to rescue you from it. Sex is an emotional experience, not just a physical act. For more go to changeradically.com/podcast

Do you want to know how to stop hating the reflection you see in the mirror? I can help you learn to recognize that even though it isn’t all perfect you can love yourself for who you are, and your body for what it has carried you through! You were made beautiful. Loving yourself is good for you. It’s toxic to hate your self and constantly focus on flaws. Remember, healing happens over time.
Perhaps you love the image you see when you look in the mirror, not because you’re at your lowest weight, or the fittest point, but simply because that’s not your struggle. If that’s the case, wonderful! But, if you dislike the reflection you see when you look in the mirror, I understand! I used to hate myself too. Because I found healing I want to share how you can too.
Do you always see the flaws, those extra pounds, the body parts that you think are too thin, or the shape you have that you wish was different. Perfect doesn’t mean there’s nothing you wish to change. It means you came into the world perfect, and your weight or your BMI is not going to change that. What you do and what you’ve been through…what diet you have…none of that is not gonna change your intrinsic beauty.
My backstory: I used to restrict myself when I would eat. I had very negative self talk. I wasn’t kind to myself. I learned to be ashamed of my body. I was taught to hide it. I was conditioned to believe that I was responsible for unwanted sexual advances made towards me. The religious community I was a part of played a big role in forming these beliefs in me. It skewed my perspective and put more responsibility on me that wasn’t mine to carry. I was sexually traumatized when I was just a kid…I became afraid of men. I didn’t want any attention from them, I was afraid of what their attention might lead to. Because of the trauma I experienced, I didn’t feel safe within my body and I didn’t believe help was close by. My experiences taught me this. If we don’t experience relationships that are safe—ones that we can show up no matter how we’re doing and there be loved and accepted—we learn that we’re truly safe unless we are a certain way.
You aren’t responsible for someone else’s actions. No matter what you do that may affect them, only they determine what they’ll do and how they’ll respond to you. If you were sexually traumatized its not your fault. It’s time to hold others responsible for their actions, and put responsibility where it belongs! If you had a parent figure who was chronically ill or depressed, one who experienced big emotions without knowing how to self regulate, you learned to cope…in one of the main ways we all learn to survive, through a fight, flight, freeze, or fawn response…We’re all looking for safety. We need to feel safe. We will go to any means to try and bring comfort to ourselves and to create even an illusion of safety.
Your body has carried you through a lot. It’s not your body’s fault if it’s breaking down. There is so much affecting the body. It gets blamed for many things we choose to do. It’s time to change the narrative towards our body! I’m suggesting you deny and minimize where you want to get, but instead have compassion for yourself and embrace where you are in the middle of the journey. Live a lifestyle of health, and have compassion for yourself in the moments that you don’t choose the way you want to choose. You recognize you’re in process. You allow yourself to make mistakes and carry kindness towards yourself along the way.

Will You Let Go of Religion?
Big question I'm posing. Let's talk about it! I’m encouraging you to connect with a higher source and to consider letting go of religion.
Relational experiences can’t always be fully explained or understood. They must be experienced! No one can take them from you, and you don’t need anyone to cause you to believe. You believe BECAUSE you’ve experienced it! I can’t debate my experiences with someone and you shouldn’t have to either. Your experiences are valid even if no one else understands or believes them!
Religion focuses on rules and expectations. There’s a lot of black and white thinking which translates into you vs me, I’m right, you’re wrong. There’s no room for compromise. If you compromise you’re perceived as the weaker person.
I’m not here to encourage you to let go of your higher source. I connect deeply with my higher source, and I’m certainly a spiritual person. My focus is on releasing a toxic religious mindset. Throughout the years, I’ve distanced myself from church but not from my higher source. I still appreciate the church I have. But anywhere there are people there will be pain. I’ve experienced much emotional pain within the church (at large) and it’s been difficult to be accepted as my authentic self in a church setting. There are some places I’ve been welcomed and accepted no matter how I show up, but that isn’t everywhere. I have grown and learned so much through my experiences. I don’t hold anger towards church, but I absolutely hate religion! It divides. It destroys. It’s toxic.
I’m comfortable being in the process. I’ve allowed myself to go on the journey of deconstructing my faith and evolving along the way.
I’m okay with the unknowns. I don’t know where I will be in the future. Where I was 2 years ago, when I wrote the blog post I reference, is not where I am today. If you want to read that article you can find it here, www.changeradically.com/blog/my-spiritual-journey.
What you call your higher source isn’t as important as how you relate with that source. Religion isn’t your relationship with your higher source. Religion is a safety net. In religion people want to control one another. It’s easy for people to say you should live the way they think you should live. Even in parenting I don’t think children should be controlled. Children are their own persons. I want to help my children live the fullest life they can but I don’t know it all! I’m in process. I hope I’m expanding more into love. I’ll surely change more along the way!
I want to cross the divides that religion has made and bring people together. I want to help people sit in the same room with each other especially when there are differences of opinion and create connections. I’d love to see people from faith communities actually create connections and get to know each other instead of having conversations around what is controversial. Find out more about the person you are speaking to, not their religious viewpoints! Religion gets so stuck on things that divide. I hear so many people talk about things that don’t matter. They talk for hours on things that have such little relevance to the main point. What matters? Do we know each other, do we love each other, are we bettering the world? Are we expanding in love? Are we deepening our connection with each other?
Whether you've been to church or not, if you currently go and love it, or you hate it, I hope you will know that there is a higher source that loves you no matter what you think. Love offers freedom, and love offers choice. Love gets to know and connects deeply. Love doesn’t divide.

Michelle Beckner is a certified nutrition coach and ex-chemical engineer who is committed to making the world a better place now and for future generations by simplifying healthy, planet-friendly living for families. Michelle lives in the Rocky Mountains with her three kiddos, two dogs, and endless cups of tea. Michelle, @mlbfamilywellness, helps people feel more connected to the earth. She helps them understand how what they eat everyday not only affects them and their family, but also the environment.
As the consumer we need to care about the environment and figure out what our priorities are. If we become just a little bit more conscious and a little more thoughtful, it would help! Consider the foods you eat and the waste you produce.
In order to better the planet, consider the following:
(Ex: reducing waste, eating nourishing foods)
a. What are you doing to make those things priority?
Remember priorities change!!! You adjust your life to fit your priorities. Consider what you say is a priority. Are you living in a way that demonstrates that?
(Ex: at the grocery store, what does it mean that the chicken is organic/cage free?)
(It doesn’t have to be so big that you can’t do something about it right now. It’s not about perfection. Doing good enough is fine!)
a. What can you do today?
Living intentionally means that you shape your life around your priorities. You know the direction you’re going so it’s easier to know what to say yes to and what to say no to. It eliminates some questions!
Don’t make all the changes at once—focus on one thing and create change in that area for starters! If we’re all just being a little more careful and thoughtful we create a ripple and better the environment!

Do you want to create a life that you love? Consider with me what it takes to live intentionally. In the episode I'll share from my own life experiences and give you insight into my process. One of my goals is to create dynamic family connections between me and my husband and between us and our kids. It takes effort, energy and intention. I will offer questions for you to consider.
Consider these questions
If you know where you’re going it’s easier to know what to say yes to and what to say no to.
In many ways, you determine how your life will go. Rest assured, all of the pressure isn’t on your shoulders! Consider, what do you need to let go of in order to take on other things? Do you need to do less in general?
Whenever you say yes to something, by default you’re saying no to something else, and whenever you say no to something, by default you’re saying yes to something else.
Whatever you consider valuable you create space, time, and resources for that. You can determine what's valuable to you by seeing where your time, your money and your energy is going!
Money isn’t the only thing that provides incredible experiences. mic drop
I firmly believe that when you put your time and your energy into what you deem valuable, everything else will follow. Put your focus on what’s valuable, and see what happens! Step into whatever you sense you’re supposed to do. Everything else will come together. Trust your inner knowing! If it doesn’t all work out as you hoped, that’s okay! We succeed by falling down and learning how to get back up and move forward. Pivoting isn’t shameful. Money can’t provide you with the satisfaction that a rich legacy offers.

This episode is an excerpt from the kids program I created, Emotional Support for Kids. It applies to children old and young :)
Do you struggle to feel comfortable when people are feeling big emotions? If that's you, take a listen to find out how you can create some ease within your Self.
Remind yourself: a new reality!
Write it down. Focus your thoughts on it. Repeat it out loud.
When you start to feel really uncomfortable around emotions, you can take a pause and breathe intentionally. Breathe in deeply through your nose, hold your breath for a few seconds and then breathe out slowly through your mouth with pursed lips.
You can also step away and create space for yourself.
Remind yourself: I’m allowed to feel things that other people don’t feel, and they’re allowed to feel things I don’t feel. Everybody is allowed to feel their own emotions. We don’t all have to feel the same emotion at the same time!

Self compassion is pivotal to your recovery! Self compassion isn’t pity. Pity won’t empower you, self compassion will!
If you didn’t receive the nurturance you needed during your developmental years you will need to learn how to be kind to yourself.
If we learn during our developmental years that our opinion doesn’t make a difference, our voice isn’t heard, and no one responds to us we learn to cope. The experiences we have during childhood directly affect how we live life.
What do you subconsciously think or say to yourself throughout the day? Start to become aware, write down those thoughts. Counter critical thoughts with compassionate ones. I’m not referring to being positive for positivity’s sake.
The thoughts you think help you discover more about yourself. Become aware and curious about them. As you become more conscious to what you really think and how you feel deep down you will be able to heal more completely.
Neuroplasticity allows us to rewire structures in our brain through the thoughts we think and how we manage our minds. It is possible to change the way we perceive ourselves and life around us. Let’s get to it!

Today I'm offering you another lesson from my program, Radically Change Your Holidays! If you want to slow down the pace of your holidays, consider the traditions you have. Whether they are parties you are always invited to and respond with a yes, or the family traditions that you know and love {or hate}... let's dive into it!
How do you feel about the traditions you keep? Why do you keep them? How would it be if you decide to not incorporate something into the holidays this year?
Determine for yourself what traditions to hold onto and what to let go, or take a break from. Talk about it with the people who will be affected by your decision. Be willing to compromise to a degree. Relationships should consist of a give and take between all parties. You can’t always make everyone happy. You’re not responsible to make everyone happy!
Change isn’t always easy and comfortable but it feels so good when it’s what you need to do! Try out something new and if it doesn’t work well, then you don’t have to stick with the change. You can always go back to the way you used to do it if you discover that’s what you prefer. You won’t know what’s better until you try out another way!

I'm happy to offer you my program, Radically Change Your Holidays, on the podcast once again! Do you want to enjoy the parties you host? I'm going to share ways you can simplify when you're the host. I'm making it personal and sharing from my own experiences.
If you are anything like me, I used to go over the top whenever I would host! I’ve learned to shrink the menu, guest list, decorations, etc. My goal now is to join in to the celebration and enjoy the time when it comes!
Because I have simplified my life in general it translates into less intense party prep. The house isn’t out of control, because we can maintain it more easily, and it doesn’t need to be cleaned to impress. Because I’m expecting less of myself, it’s easier all around. Also, a simplified lifestyle allows for pockets of time to prep before the party. I create space on the front and back end for rest, because I’m busier due to the party and I know that will affect my body. I plan for it.
When it comes to my children’s bday parties, I ask my kids who they want to invite to the party and we invite those guests. In order to do this, I had to get comfortable with the idea of disappointing people. Plus, fewer guests means more connection with the guests who are there. That’s a win! The menu is based off of the ideas each child has for their party. That’s also easier. I’m not preparing as much because my kids usually have reasonable expectations and are agreeable when we simplify. They’re used to our lifestyle!
Consider what you can do to create ease and more enjoyment in your parties. Come up with actionable steps and try out something the next time you’re hosting! One practical suggestion: take a few pictures of the important moments, and only pull out your phone/camera for that portion of the party.

I have a gift for you this holiday season! I'm sharing a few of the lessons from my program Radically Change Your Holidays, on the podcast, in hopes to help you enjoy the year-round celebrations that you have. I make it personal and share from my own experiences how I radically changed my holidays.
My holidays were exhausting me! I paid for it financially, physically and relationally. It took a lot of energy to host or celebrate, and it was a lot of work. I didn’t even enjoy the celebrations, because I was so busy.
If you relate, keep listening!!
You’ll have to get comfortable with letting people down. Let go of responsibility that isn’t yours. You’ll have to put yourself first sometimes, especially if your tendency is to always put yourself last. It’s time to enjoy being the guest when you’re invited over as the guest! Take advantage of the opportunity to relax.
Shifting your mindset is purposeful work and it’s so beneficial!
Consider: Why are you saying yes? Why are you hesitant to say no?
Where did your tendencies originate from? What were you told as a child when you performed really well, or when you didn’t?
What holidays do you celebrate through out the year? Do you want to keep doing holidays the way you’re doing?
One practical suggestion: Gift purposefully. If you want to give someone a present find out what they want, or what they need.

We’ve always lived within our body, and our body stores memory. We consciously or subconsciously remember. Your body carries unresolved trauma. I'm going to share some practical ways you can self parent and help to heal yourself. ❤️
Color or draw
Go to the park and swing (You’ll have to push through the discomfort of looking silly.)
Dance (The goal isn’t to do it perfectly, rather it’s to have fun!)
Enjoy a fun treat
In the healing process we must grieve what we lost and what never was. Find out what feels right for you and then do it. What does your inner child need? How can you support your past self? Incorporate moments of play into your week. Let it be the spark that ignites the healing for your inner child! You are worth that. Because I wish you had received all you needed during your childhood, here is your chance to reclaim what was lost.
Looking foolish feels more bearable when you get to experience healing through it.

Today's episode is a lesson taken from my program Radically Change Your Life. Healing is complex and simplistic all at once. Join me and learn how you can help yourself heal!
Carry compassion (for yourself and others)
Get outdoors! Ground yourself with nature. Let yourself be affected by it.
Allow in the love and kindness that others have to give you. Don’t qualify how it has to look or what it has to be. I understand it’s risky to open yourself up to love, because it means that you may get hurt. You must practice living this way. With safe people, start sharing vulnerably. We don’t need pity. We need compassion and empowerment! We need support.
Pause. Incorporate breath work into your days. Take multiple deep breaths. Speak out your beautiful truth and positive affirmations as you breathe. You may wish to remind yourself that you are safe. It’s easy to unconsciously reenact the past. Ground yourself back in the present.
In the stillness you are able to recognize more deeply what is going with your self; you are able to recognize what the Universe wants to offer you.
You are VERY loved! There are purposes and plans for YOUR life! Life ebbs and flows. Ups and downs are a part of the journey through life. You were born to enjoy life! It’s time to stop muscling through, and it’s time to begin enjoying your existence!
Who you are is really good. I am so glad that you are alive! You are needed on the earth. There are loving people waiting for the invitation to be close to you. Will you let them?

This audio is taken from my program, Radically Change Your Life. I share an example of how my inner child (the child I once was) is affected by present day experiences, and also how I help individuals heal their child self. I explain how to ground yourself when you experience an emotional flashback.
Abuse, neglect and emotional abandonment are all devastating. We have all experienced some form of trauma and through it we learned how to cope, to survive and get through. But unresolved trauma always needs a safe and loving environment in order to heal.
In order to move forward and to feel good about living, to thrive in life, you must look backwards. The goal isn’t to sit in the past forever, but in order to stop reenacting it we must allow love and compassion to be infused into the places that are aching for it!
Awareness, awakening, mindfulness - all parts of the healing journey. Your normal doesn’t have to stay as the normal if you want it to change.
You are an individual, unique and different than the person next to you. You don’t have to fit a mold and be a cookie cutter of anyone else. Your individuality is beautiful! There are parts to you that are innately you - as you change you won’t lose those parts of you!
A true sign of health is being able to embrace and accept the person you are.
Your life can get better! You don’t always have to feel so overwhelmed and scared. You can begin to enjoy life! I’m here to help you. Your inner child is safe with me. I’m not afraid of your story, and I would love to get to know you better!

Why do we experience intrusive thoughts and what to do about it.
Today’s conversation is for anyone who battles and deals with intrusive thoughts. Intrusive thoughts are anything that makes you think you have something to fear, you’re less than, makes you shut down or run away, or stops you dead in your tracks. It’s the thoughts that seem to run over and over in our minds or interrupt us in the middle of our day.
You do not have to believe every thought that you have! If you do believe every thought that you have, you will probably live very anxious and depressed. Thoughts come and go. Sometimes it’s not worth giving a thought much time of day.
You have power over your thoughts. Your thoughts are not supposed to be dominating you. There are many times we think certain ways due to our past life experiences.
Thoughts are helpful stepping stones—they can give you a window into your past. You need to know some of the thoughts you regularly think in order to move forward. If we have unresolved complex trauma from childhood or past experiences that we have not yet been able to look at and heal from, then it will interrupt and disrupt us in our present day. Sometimes to a very severe degree.
Kids deserve respect, attention, and care. They should not be considered less than simply because they are smaller, younger, or the adult thinks that they know more than the child.
It’s very easy to translate our experiences into these beliefs that fuel the way we look at life. They affect our perspective on life and our interpretations of people’s actions.

Keys to effective communication
Feeling heard
Validated
Safe
Loved (cared for)
Both parties should have a chance to express themselves
You don't have to agree to validate.
When you don't try to correct + fix that takes loving effort and goes a long way!
When defensive we feel as if we need to protect ourselves from a threat. When we feel misunderstood, judged, unheard, unloved it easily make us feel unsafe and on the defensive. As much as possible, during the conversation as you recognize that you're feeling the need to protect yourself, pause and remind yourself you are safe. Do your best to not interrupt as the other person is speaking.
Other people are allowed to misunderstand us. It's a normal part of living. You don't have to internalize their judgements, or their conclusion about you. You can learn to hear criticism and not internalize it.
Acknowledging that you care about the other persons thoughts and that you want them to have a chance to speak goes a long way. Once they begin speaking work intentionally to not interrupt them. If you feel the need to defend yourself simply notice that, but allow them to keep talking. Don’t get focused on your response when they’re speaking. Actively engage by listening and hearing their heart. The heart speaks through more than words. You can practice these skills and learn how to communicate more effectively as you get more comfortable with it.
When emotionally activated it can be hard to feel grounded, but with healing it is possible to be less triggered. Get curious, become aware of what's triggering you.
If you’re looking for resolution, note that it won’t always happen. Your communication can still be productive and effective if you/the other party feel heard, validated and loved within the conversation. If you’re learning new ways to communicate and unlearning formed patterns, this will take time. Be patient and kind towards yourself along the way. Having compassion on yourself during this process is highly important! You are not responsible for how the other person goes about communicating. Your responsibility is simply for YOURSELF. Other people do soften when they don’t feel accused, blamed or bullied in conversation. Your communication style will elicit change!
Actively engage. Give the other party the benefit of your doubt. Be in their corner as you listen. Allow compassion to sit next to your strength. Boundaries and respect are super important, but a lack of care isn’t necessary to keep boundaries and be respected. You can offer care and compassion while you hold true to your boundaries.
Someone else isn't responsible for your feelings.
Remember, heart-to-heart conversations build connection and depth. Heart to heart is different than head to head :) Agreement doesn't equal resolution. You can disagree and still have resolution. You can disagree and still have a deep friendship with that person!
What stands out to you as the 1-2 new practices you want to implement?

You can thrive in life if you want! I'm here to help you understand yourself more and find a way to heal from the roots. Emotional responses are indicators. They show us that more is happening deeper within.
Sadness feels vulnerable. It’s necessary, but how long will it last? Tears may need a way out. If you feel the sadness or disappointment intensifying, allowing yourself to cry usually helps and brings relief.
Don’t allow shame to come in and tell you that you’re being overly sensitive. A baby. Shame wants us to feel small and dirty. It says there is something the matter with us, and who we are, or how we're behaving, isn’t good enough. It will make you want to hide. When shame shows up it’s important to confront those intrusive thoughts with self compassion and strength. Be your own best friend, and substitute kind words for the critical means ones rumbling through your mind. Unfortunately, shame is culturally accepted.
Fear is that terrified feeling that says, I am unsafe. What will happen? It’s out of control. It springs on all of a sudden, or sticks around constantly. When it’s a constant companion it shows up as skittish, jumpy behaviors, usually accompanied by yelling and out of control patterns. Fear thinks: the world is scary, people have ill-intentions. God wants to beat me down if I'm not doing the right things, or enough things to please. A display of power (anger, jealousy, etc) can sometimes be a mask for the fear beneath.
If the inner child - the child you once were - is trying to protect itself, you may do an assortment of things in order to grasp at feelings of safety and security.
Excitement and joy invigorate us! We have extra energy and we’re ready to get things done! Life suddenly feels brighter and easier.
Love makes us feel safe and secure. We can manage anything when we know we are cared for, supported and championed. Love makes the world go round :) It is the most powerful force in the universe. We were born to live in love, to be loved, and to exude love!
Unresolved trauma and tragedy reshape our lenses on life.
Depression feels isolating, and life feels bleak. It’s a heaviness that produces overwhelm. Life is too hard to manage.
Anxiety causes fear to rage, life feels unpredictability + unknowns feel terrifying. It’s debilitating. The smallest tasks can look and feel like a mountain to climb when anxiety and depression are present.
Healing makes managing these emotions easier. We'll experience ups and downs throughout life, but the lows can become easier to manage!
Grief is compounded sadness mixed with loss. It feels intense, and confusing. We have questions and thoughts... How will we continue on? What will life be like now? I don’t want this new normal. I didn’t choose this. It’s layered with ups and downs. We all experience loss in various forms many times through out life. As a child, your parent figures may not have been what you needed them to be. Loss shows up in many forms. When the body stores the grief and it’s suppressed it only intensifies. It needs a way out. Shaking, sobbing, screaming may all be necessary. Reach out for support. Find a safe, knowledgeable individual to be with you through the healing process. I'm certainly for you and glad to be a support if you need.
The journey to a better place may be uncomfortable, but it certainly gets easier!!

Welcome back! After taking off the month of September, I have had space to come up with new ideas and topics for us to discuss. I love when you let me know what you’re interested to hear on the podcast. Any time you want to hear about a certain topic, let me know!
Today we’re talking about emotions. I’m going to talk about what to do with emotions—especially if you struggle with expressing your emotions and feelings.
Feeling emotions can be uncomfortable and downright scary. There are various reasons we block ourselves from feeling. And we need to do that sometimes in order to cope and survive through difficulties and traumatic situations. In this space, with me, all of your emotions are welcome—I’m not afraid of them. I actually think we need to let them surface because they’re indicators. They’re helping us to know what’s going on below the surface and help us gain a better understanding of you and why you feel what you feel.
Consider these questions: What will happen if you allow your emotions to surface? What does that mean for you and the people around you? How will your life be affected? What is going to change? Sit with that. It’s important to allow yourself to go there. If you’re unlearning something you’ve been conditioned in and you’re relearning a new practice, you have to practice it everyday for it to become something that you naturally do. So as you go throughout your days, make note of any physical things you feel. As you become more mindful and aware, you’re going to have more insight.
I want you to also make note of the thoughts that go through your mind every day. As you track your physical feelings and thoughts, you and I will have more insight into what’s going on.
Sometimes the biggest problem is that we don’t feel safe within ourselves. Let the emotions surface—as overwhelming as they seem. They will not always be overwhelming.

Conscious awareness - recognizing your thoughts and being in touch with your feelings. Every day we experience sensations throughout the body. How aware are you?
Start to become aware of what you’re feeling and what your inner narrative is if you want to feel better. It may not initially impact how you feel, but it will help expedite healing once you’re actively working with someone towards inner wellness.
Start to recognize the sensations in your body. Our thoughts which affect our feelings are often based off of our formed beliefs and projections. Ex: underlying belief: People don’t really care about me. People don’t really want to know what I have to say.
People often respond based off of their own formed beliefs or projections. Reactions are a result of people feeling emotionally triggered. I may interpret your facial expression, your tone, or your words in a way that confirms my bias, “people don’t really care about me. They don’t really want to know what I have to say,” and all because of my experiences in childhood that caused me to believe that was true.
Mindfulness isn’t the same as overthinking and analyzing your thoughts or the situations at hand.
Disconnecting/Dissociating/Numbing - they are ways to cope and manage during stressful + traumatic times. You needed to get by somehow, and if that was your means of protecting yourself, have compassion on yourself as you work to cope a different way.
Remember, anger masks soft emotions such as disappointment, hurt, pain, sadness, overwhelm. When those emotions aren’t expressed, verbally, through tears, or otherwise - they MUST come out at some point! Explosive behavior is often because of suppressed emotions.
Awareness is one of the first steps to get to know yourself better. Getting to know your authentic self more fully is key to healing!
Remember, trauma isn’t just the big events that we all immediately think of - it’s also the neglect and emotional abandonment received during developmental years of childhood.

Intuitive Living
I share about my personal life and explain what intuitive living looks and feels like. I’m also going to unveil some big changes coming for my family!
For me, intuitive living is a practice of channeling the source of unconditional love and flowing with the gentle push and pull within my life.
Lean in and pay attention to your body. Listen to your gut. I’m not necessarily speaking about living by your feelings, even though those emotional indicators are your ally.
Both logic and emotions pull on formed beliefs and perception, which is typically based on lived experiences. It’s okay if things don’t always make logical sense.
Do you need intuitive support? I’m ready to help! Send me an email or reach out to me on Instagram @corinne_changeradically

Trauma Doesn’t Have To Traumatize You
A year ago my husband had an accident on the job he was working. It was a traumatic situation that didn’t traumatize me!! My tendency would have been to make sure my husband and my kids had what they needed during that difficult time but not to think of and care for myself. Instead I walked through those weeks following the accident conscious to what I needed and taking action to make sure I cared for myself. I was able to clearly see the inner healing that had taken place all the months and years prior, and I healed myself even more through the process.
What will you do with the opportunities that present themselves? What happens in life isn’t always comfortable or good, but we can use the situations that come our way for our benefit. Don’t dismiss your feelings, or your grief. Cry. Move your body. Talk it out. Sing. Reach out for support and take advantage of the offers sent your way! Do whatever you need to do to decompress and relieve the pressure.
I walked through the traumatic experience differently than I had in the past. I was purposeful and intentional in what I asked for and what I practiced.
Life offers us gifts in the middle of hardships. It’s up to you whether you will see them or not. Your perspective affects so much.
Have compassion for your past self. Recognize why you chose to live that way and be kind to that version of yourself. Balance that with the desire to get wherever it is you want to be. I’m here to support you get where you want to go!

Sleep is important for rest, but what about the struggle to sleep when you have a chance? Kylee Nelson came on the show back in the Spring and shared her tips on improving sleep. To listen to that go here, episode 16. If you lay down to rest and thoughts flood your mind, here’s what you can do. Be intentional to process what’s happening in your life through out the day, so that you aren’t flooded with intrusive, or other thoughts, when you go to lay down. Engaging with your thoughts is necessary. Create pockets of time before you lay down to allow your mind to process and wander. The pockets of time you create can be small, and quick. Start small and build up!
On the practical, if I rest and get woken prematurely, I will let myself drift back off to sleep. I’ll close my eyes and lay there and wait for sleep to come. Personally, music helps me block some noise out and helps me drift off to sleep. I will lay down and shut my eyes for an hour, even if I can’t fall asleep. It still gives my body rest which is productive!
Rest of course isn’t just about sleep. Simplify your schedule. Figure out how to create space in your days/weeks for down time, creativity and play. As a family, my husband and I intentionally shifted our entire lifestyle to create more time for rest and connection. Because we homeschooled our kids, it turned out to be a better fit for us to share the load of teaching and parenting. This meant that my kids weren’t spending all of their days just with their exhausted mom, but now dad was around to help and that relieved me of certain responsibilities, creating new pockets of time for rest + fun!
Because I was a parentified child living codependent, doing-doing-doing for everyone else and not allowing people to help me, I wore my body out. If you identify with always being on the go, and doing for others without letting them do the same for you, I am ready to support you in creating a simplified life with more times for rest + play!

Rest is necessary!
I’m going to share about what a lifestyle of rest looks like for me. It’s a simplified life. It’s a slower pace. It’s more gentle on the mind + body.
What was modeled to you as you grew up? What was praised and defined as good + productive when you were a child?
I was conditioned to go-go-go at the expense of my energy and my health.
Rest is productive! Give yourself permission to take breaks, be easy on yourself, rest when you need and to disappoint people. You can still be responsible, stick with your commitments, have good follow through, and be productive.
Sometimes you can’t MAKE something happen. When you are physically, mentally or otherwise exhausted, you must rest to rejuvenate!
Moving your body is helpful. Do something relaxing that you enjoy. Be intentional to rest + relax. Release the pressure.
Re parenting: I love my children. I love being their mom. It’s also demanding + hard work to parent them. It takes a lot out of me to consciously parent, but its a priority for me so I’ll do it even if it’s demanding and exhausting. I have to be strategic + creative to show up and be the mom I want to be.
Rest is first a choice. If you deny yourself rest, it will become a demand.
We’ll continue more on this topic next week!

The more I heal, the less codependent I live. Healing comes by learning and practicing. We must practice to learn. For anything to become second nature we must do it many times. Intentional living is required for change!
Codependency looks and sounds like some of the following:
I’m not okay unless you’re okay
People pleasing
(Unconsciously) trying to be the hero
Going overboard to help without allowing the same in return
Interdependency on the other hand is a give and take. Depending on others and being supported is a beautiful part of living, and I’m not trying to suggest we shouldn’t need each other. It’s all about the core reason(s) behind the action that reveals what’s really going on. You might do the same thing as I, for a totally separate reason!
Conditioned patterns don’t feel out of place, because they’re ordinary to you! Toxic patterns or mindsets won’t feel toxic until you become conscious of the reason why you’re living that way. As you observe yourself and become more aware of your Self, you can get curious and explore the origin of your belief (mindsets) and patterns.
As a child, I observed people in my environment that felt panic, overwhelm, depression, etc and I didn’t want to feel their energy, so if I could help them feel better, I would too!! I became the stereo typical helper. Problem with that is, I wasn’t letting other people help me, even though I was going overboard to help them. If you didn’t learn to receive as a child, you will need to learn how to receive at some later point in life. You will be stunted in any stage of development that you didn’t have a chance to naturally develop in. I’m not suggesting anyone should feel shame about that, just bringing up the reality of it.
Drastic actions are necessary sometimes in order to break away from toxic patterns. Recognizing the root reason, or the belief behind the action, helps immensely! What changes internally shows up externally.
In becoming less codependent, I’m learning how to separate myself more fully from Evan’s emotions. I still care about how he’s feeling, but I don’t need him to convince me that he is doing alright in order for me to feel emotionally stable. It’s much easier to live without determining my wellness off of him!
Here's a thought to consider. Tragedy is occurring around us constantly. If other people’s tragedy typically disrupts and negatively affects your day it is a reason to explore why. Of course it is important and good to be a helpful resource, full of love and empathetic. But also recognize what’s going on at a deeper level. If you are feeling that deeply connected with another’s pain you may be living in an overly responsible, enmeshed state. Ask yourself, why are you responding that way to the tragedy? Give attention to your core beliefs. Determine if those mindsets and way(s) of living are actually the response you want to have. Reach out for help if you’re unsure of why and need support.
Healing isn’t linear. There are ups and downs, highs and lows. When I’m in the middle of the caverns that feel so dark and isolating, I remind myself that it won’t always be so hard to manage. The natural progression that is part of the experience of living is not always easy, but it’s also beautiful. When healing takes place in one area, space is then created for another area to be given attention. It’s a gentle, beautiful process.

I’m going to share about one of my experiences that caused me to feel deep rejection. This conversation is evidence of more inner healing because this is not something I would have opened up to talk about, even a short while ago.
I share a bit about my life story. My husband and I began dating Feb 2010 and immediately experienced prejudice. I was a reminder to others of their past pain. I don’t think unresolved trauma is an excuse for our actions, but I do think it’s an explanation why we respond/react the way we do. Even though I held space for that reality, being rejected still hurt immensely.
What I’ve learned through my experiences is that I can embrace my authentic self and allow others to be different than me. I’ve learned to worry less about the judgement and criticism others will send my way. Judgement and criticism happens no matter how we live. In some form or another, it always has been present and always will be.
The pain, trauma, tragedy of life doesn’t need to change us into someone callous and negative. We have a choice. We will be changed and reshaped by the difficulties of life, but in what way?
Will the tragedy in life shut you down, or will you allow it to create an expansion of love within you? There’s an opportunity to become a higher version of yourself. Pain doesn’t have to define you.
We’ll all unconsciously hurt others. I know I have. Recognizing that allows us to carry more compassion in our heart for the times we are hurt by others. Whenever we walk through a situation we can empathize and relate with someone else who has gone through a similar situation. It gives us a different lens on life.
I want to close by saying how sorry I am for any prejudice, racism, and rejection you have experienced. It’s never been okay. You should never be treated differently for the way you look, and it grieves me.
Here’s the invitation to us all, what will you do with what’s been done to you? Don’t discredit what’s been done to you. There’s no need to dismiss or diminish it. Empowerment is possible, but it’s up to you. You have a choice. No one else can empower you without you choosing into it.

Let's talk about ways to support yourself!
Be practical. Speak up for yourself. Ask for what you need! Don’t expect other people to know what you need. Start to become aware of what your body needs. Practice recognizing what your body is trying to communicate. Does it need rest? More nutritious foods? Time for play and fun?
I grew up pushing myself, disconnecting from my body to get through. There are times to challenge yourself and restructure thinking and times to be gentle towards yourself. Both are necessary. Hold space for both. Empower yourself! Pause, step back and rest. Challenge yourself to push further in other moments. Become in tune with yourself to know what you need to do + when.
Side note: not everyone will agree with you. There will be those who think you’re doing it all wrong. Get comfortable with that.
You are the only one responsible for yourself. You live within your body. The satisfaction of inner healing and reaching goals outweigh the judgement and criticism of people. The judgement and criticism were always there! You choose whether or not to let other people’s opinions dictate the way you live.
What is the one thing you do to tweak your lifestyle or pivot? Is there something you need to reconceptualize? If you wish, the glass can look half full instead of half empty :)
Self compassion, acceptance and love are all necessary if you wish to be a support to your self.
Actionable step:
Go to a mirror. Look at your reflection. What thoughts and feelings surface? Write out or speak out what you’re thinking and feeling. What does the person looking back at you need to hear? Do you need to apologize to yourself? It may be awkward and uncomfortable as you start doing it. Anything unfamiliar can be that way. It’ll get easier as you go.
Reach out if you want support. I’m here to help!

Consciously living means consciously parenting. Nobody is exempt from trauma. Even if I do my best, my kids will still be affected by traumatic events in their lifetime. I can’t protect them from it all. As parents, all we can do is the best with what we know and what we learn.
My goal is to heal myself and to offer those tools to my kids as well. I wasn’t offered that as a child because my parents didn’t know what wasn’t modeled to them. I am intentionally breaking the cycle of intergenerational trauma.
As parents, we’re all learning as we go. We’re doing it for the first time. We’re going to make mistakes. It’s okay to not get it right all the time. I’m one human being loving, nurturing, and raising 3 other human beings as best I know how!
I want my children to know that I will be there with them as they feel big emotions that create overwhelm. I will be with them as they walk through their feelings. My kids will probably need their own therapy in the future, and I’m okay with that. I’m still purposing to do the best I can!
The more conscious and aware we become, the more consciously we can parent. Learn about your patterns and your mindsets - why you do what you do. Where did your underlying beliefs form? Allow yourself to wake up to what’s going on at the subconscious level.
Focus inward, heal yourself. Offer your children a different experience than you had. What our parents didn’t know they couldn’t model for us. When we transform from the inside out we can show the next generation another way.
There’s a child within each of us that needs attention, nurturance and love. We all need to consciously reparent our self. We have experienced varying degrees of trauma but we can all identify in certain ways, because none of us are exempt from experiencing the pains of life.
Empathy is KEY. When someone feels understood they also feel seen. It’s very important during the developmental years to know you are heard and understood. If you didn't receive that as a child, you can now offer that to your inner child.
You can become aware enough to recognize how other people may be feeling. Don’t assume; ask. It’s not always easy. In fact it takes quite a bit of energy to be a conscious parent! It's also worth it!!!
Don’t be a “know it all.” Kids don’t need to be lectured and taught all the time. They need to feel loved and understood. They need to know that we see them as intelligent. Be a learner. Apologize.
Here’s to all of us doing the best we can, with what we know and what we can learn!

Let’s continue the conversation around emotional triggering. In today’s episode I share a personal experience of how I am triggered and how inner healing is helping me to feel less emotionally activated. I touch on how codependency shows up and compare how it looks to live interdependent.
When we experience an emotional flash back we will sometimes have intense (big) emotions over something that may seem minuscule. Even a look can spiral us downward! Emotionally triggering happens all throughout the day. Until we become aware of our triggers we won’t know why they’re happening and what we need to heal within. There’s no shame if you trigger. Remember, there’s a reason for any exaggerated emotional response.
Consider what thoughts and feelings are below the trigger. Explore within yourself, where did those thoughts and feelings originate? Expect an unraveling. Reach out for trusted support before or during this process. This journey wasn’t intended to be done alone.
The goal in healing is to discover our authentic self and then define that self. Other people shouldn’t get to define us. My goal is to let my inner child know that she is significant. As I heal, the view others have of me doesn’t affect me in such a dramatic way. I need their approval less and less. I see the value within my self which settles me. I don’t need to make everyone comfortable. I don’t need everyone to like or agree with me to be okay.
Certain elements that are very important to healing yourself are practicing self compassion, setting and living within boundaries that feel right for you and managing your self talk to ensure you’re living in love towards yourself.
It’s possible to experience inner peace and joy! If you would like my support as you work through your emotional triggers, I am running a BOGO sale through the end of June. Take advantage of it by going to https://changeradicallyscheduler.as.me

Evan and I talk about our experiences as it relates to being emotionally activated (triggered).
We discuss the following:
Triggering explained
Personal ways that Evan and I are triggered
Why certain feelings show up and what to do when you're experiencing an emotional flashback
What to do when you're actively triggered
How to make forward progress
Breaking the stigma of shame around triggers
Ways to ground yourself when feeling out of control
Self compassion is key in your recovery journey
I think of triggering as experiencing an emotional flashback. Consider if I am emotionally flashing back to childhood in the present day and I think/feel that I am not safe. That would be a very understandable response if you note that during my developmental years my parents didn’t help me regulate my emotions. No one helped me understand what I was feeling from day to day or why. There wasn't a conversation about emotions. It's very reasonable that a child would feel unsafe.
I go on to share a recent experience that triggered me and also revealed my forward progress. It’s exciting and motivating to recognize where we used to be compared to where we are today. It creates hope that more healing is coming!
The body remembers past experiences and we have a physical response because of it. I respond to my inner child when she feels unsafe and out of control. I am learning to integrate more fully into my body. I give examples of how I speak to my child self. As you recover you’ll be affected without the same response, but be gentle with yourself along the way. Being triggered isn’t the issue, it simply reveals there is underlying pain.
Self parenting or reparenting is very healing. It’s imperative to be surrounded by love and support. Feeling isolated and alone is a set up for anxiety, depression and despair. Safe loving touch that’s comfortable to you can help too. A hug can go a long way! Seek support that you trust as you process your triggers.

Calling all kids! Bring your littles around and take a listen. My 5 y/o daughter, Laella shares how she handles her emotions through the every day. We even touch on how to make chores more fun and what to do when you feel like sneaking some sweets.
There are many ways to express how you feel and to regulate your emotions. Exercise, yoga, and dance are just a few great ways to help yourself out. Remember to pause and slow down your breathing. Take a few deep breaths, talk it out if you can.
Chores aren't usually fun but there's a way to make them more enjoyable! Creating a list and setting time frames can help.
Instead of sneaking sweets, Ella suggests you choose a more nourishing food. Consider bringing someone else into your struggle. Reach out and ask for help.

Michelle is a Certified Transformational Nutrition Coach who shares her knowledge with us. She and I enjoyed a conversation around food and mindful eating. If you have a trouble relationship with food, Michele is here to help! Michele specifically helps moms with breastfeeding babies who have food sensitivities. Having an infant or child with food sensitivies isn’t easy. Remember, the elimination phase is temporary. It’s going to get easier! You’re going to get used to a new normal.
In the conversation Michelle and I have, I also share a little of my experience around the elimination diet I had to chosen when breastfeeding my babies who had sensitivity to dairy. Reintroducing foods back in at a time when I was more mindful allowed me to see how those foods affected me. It was then I was able to choose if I wanted to continue eating those foods.
Even though everything isn’t going to be perfect or easy, accepting the situation and making the best of it helps. Food is powerful! It can affect us in both negative and positive ways. Eliminating foods and adding foods in are both impactful.
Changing the perspective around food is necessary.
Let’s begin by clearing the air! Food isn’t the enemy. Don’t stress about how much you have to eat or not eat. Focus on eating a variety of real, whole foods with color.
Stress is counterproductive. Reducing stress and doing things to help yourself enjoy life is important. Discovering sustainable ways to enjoy living and finding a balance when it comes to how you eat is important.
When I asked Michele, what’s the most common problem when mom’s come to her, here’s what she said:
She helps moms to discover the real root of the baby’s symptoms by:
Acknowledge what’s going on in your life
Consider and start to recognize what seems to be helping your body and nourishing you, and what things don’t.
Remember, you get to choose what you’ll eat. If you don’t feel good eating something decide if you want to eliminate it or not.

EPISODE NOTES:
Corinne: “This is the second part of a two part conversation.
If I go into a conversation with Evan and I think that what he has to say could benefit me, I listen differently, walk through the experience differently, and come out of it differently. So that’s been my focus over the years as I’ve been healing more and changing my mindsets.
We all have formed beliefs, ways of thinking, mindsets, that COULD be limiting us. Ask yourself where that way of thinking originated and if it’s something you want to continue to believe moving forward.”
Evan: “I walk into discussions with opinions already formed. I realize I value you a lot. Even though you don’t articulate very well, I’ve watched your life and it’s really beautiful, so I really want to hear what you have to say. I’ve changed from needing to convince you of something to needing to draw out of you what you actually believe so I can understand it. I still strongly express my point of view, but I also really want to hear your point of view. That can be frustrating because we think a lot differently. With you, always, conversations make a big difference as we part ways.”
Corinne: “If you have experienced something that has burned you or caused you to believe a certain way and you think that you’ll never see another way, I want to suggest that you give that another chance. There are many people who care about what you think and want to hear your heart. If you never give the opportunity for that to happen, you’ll lose out on something. I know that what we experience in childhood and beyond can really hurt our hearts. It’s sometimes easier to just shut down and try to survive instead of trying to live feeling. Living in a place where you can feel and be alive within yourself is a better way.”
Evan: “It’s the difference between being callous, numb, cold, and basically scared and experiencing it all—the highs, the lows, the joys, etc...Yeah, choose life. It’s way better than a half life. It’s a lot more painful because it’s a lot more joyful. There’s a lot more higher highs and lower lows.”
Corinne: “The healing process has very difficult moments, but so does life itself. Anything we’re learning or relearning/experiencing for the first time will have its painful moments.”
Evan: “I had a lot of frustration before from not feeling known or connected.”

EPISODE NOTES:
Corinne: "I'm very excited that my husband, Evan, is on the show with me today! We're all handed difficulties and challenges in life. We're given the opportunity to make them whatever we will. And so for Evan and I, our nine years of marriage and the time before that we knew each other when we were dating—it wasn't all easy. I want to give you a window in, and send hope to you. If you find yourself in the middle of a difficult relationship—of any kind—there's hope! It can get better. It doesn't always have to be perfect. It doesn't always have to be easy in order for it to be beautiful. You don't have to agree with everybody in order to be friends and do life together. In fact, I think it creates a lot more beauty and it's more interesting when you do think differently, have different viewpoints and different opinions because then you can discuss those.
So Evan, how has it been living life with me?"
Evan: “I think the gift of being married to you has been extraordinary for me. I love being married to you. I feel like you help me be the person I was made to be. You challenge me. You push me. It’s been a great journey and relationship so far.
There’s also been some difficulties too. As we’ve grown together, we’ve changed together. I don’t think we’re the same people we were ten years ago, which is great. There’s always tension when there’s change.”
Corinne: “You say I challenge you and push you. What do you mean by that?”
Evan: “Specifically, you have very high expectations of me. You expect me to be the best that I can be. There are times when the expectations feel unreasonable as well. I don’t know what you’re thinking. I remind you of that often. I can’t save you from you self sabotaging things.
But in the good places, you’ve called me to be whole—to address the brokenness in my life. If i didn’t have you there reminding me and calling me to more, it would be easy to just stay in those places.”
Corinne: “As Evan’s talking, he’s putting words to how I think even towards myself. So as I go through my life, I’m pushing myself towards more, I’m challenging myself. I see the potential for being whole and being fully alive and I know that’s what I want.
I don’t think I relate as well to you when I’m asking things of you, Evan. I can be harsh and overbearing, critical, and still working out of my conditioned patterns. But towards myself, I’ve learned to be more compassionate. As I’m learning to be that way with myself, I’m learning to be that way with my other relationships as well.
It’s been a messy process. The more I’ve become aware of myself, the more conscious I’ve become of the way that I cope with difficult traumatic situations. The more aware of that I’ve become, the more I realized how I related to Evan. I get triggered very frequently because of our own past history. Evan allows me to be messy and embraces me in that, but he also calls me to something more. The more aware and mindful we are, the more we’ll recognize how we come across to other people and how we are actually being in that situation.
Evan, how do you experience me? I might think he’s experiencing me one way, but he might be experiencing me another way. What matters in our relationship is me knowing how he experiences me and him knowing how I experience him. The more aware we are of how other people experience us in our relationship—it’s helpful to know. It’s not so that we become who they want us to be. We should always be striving to be the best version of ourselves that we can be. It’s helpful to know so that we can better serve the people we’re in relationship with. It takes a bit of humility."

It starts with a beginning. A choice. What’s your why? You’re going to need motivation to follow through! Knowing the reasons for the change you want will help keep you going when it doesn’t feel easy or comfortable.
What are some of your fears around creating change for yourself? Who’s voice do you hear holding you back? We have been impacted by different people but many of us do have someone else’s echo in our minds! When we’re impressionable we form subconscious beliefs and carry them throughout life.
So start to become more aware of your thinking. Ask yourself some good, deep questions. Why are you still in the place you find yourself? What, or who, is holding you back from moving forward? If you’re not sure, reach out and ask someone who will help you figure it out! (I’m here if you’re not sure who to ask.) Then, you must start taking action. Or else nothing will change.
Determination is key. You won’t get where you want to go, or have the lifestyle you want, if you aren’t willing to stick with the steps and friggin’ DO them! Success doesn’t just happen! Someone was deliberate and intentional. What you do in the every day matters. How you think affects so much of your life!
Find someone you admire or aspire to be. You’re not going to change to become them, but they’re going to give you inspiration and hope along the way - that YOU TOO can get where they’ve gotten!
Start with one step at a time. You don’t need to make all the changes at once. In fact if you do try to make all the changes at once it’s gonna be extremely hard to sustain and likely a setup for devastation and disappointment. Each step you take will make a difference and over time you will see the growth and progress!!
Does this sound too basic? I’ve got good news if it does sound too simple… It WORKS!! For more info and to contact me directly please go here.

I’m guessing many of you can relate to holding thoughts and feelings towards yourself that are negative and plain mean. But when it means that those thoughts become your mindset it TOTALLY shifts the way you live life! I want to share my story with you to inspire hope and give you motivation knowing if I could learn to actually LIKE what I see when I look in the mirror, then you can TOO!!!
I’d never experienced this before. It was the strangest feeling to see my reflection in the mirror and have nothing negative to come back with. I was always beating myself up for something. My self talk was so cruel.
Here we are almost 2 years later and it hasn't faded! I’m shocked and thrilled to see myself this way. Its not because of anything I’ve done to change how I look outwardly. Instead something changed internally. Growing up I can remember countless times I would have thoughts about myself and my body that was downright mean.
When I first had the thought and accompanying feeling that I LIKE MY BODY it wasn’t when I was looking my best. It has been such an incredible way to live, not constantly thinking negatively about myself and hating on my body. No longer am I only being kind to the person next to me and seeing the beauty in them, but I'm also being just as kind to myself and seeing the beauty in me!
Now what I’m saying isn’t an excuse to lay around all day eating chips and cookies. It's a mindset shift. It's an internal place I'm living from that holds love and compassion for the self. It's making an effort to think kind thoughts towards the self. It's intentionally choosing positive self talk. I had to learn how to nurture parts of myself that had been used to criticism and critique my entire life. It’s been deliberate cultivation and intentional change!
You’ll need to start changing your inner narrative. In a typical day, what thoughts are you thinking about yourself and your body? If they’re not kind ones you can start there! Your body has carried you through so much. You’ve experienced traumas and hardships in your lifetime and no matter how you size them up, it’s your body that has carried you through it all.
I've been learning to listen to what my body is saying it needs. Sometimes I can tell that a salad is gonna be the most satisfying choice. Whether I’m hungry, tired or overwhelmed. I’m paying attention to the warning signals. Learning how to intuitively eat. And no matter what I choose, I’m deliberate to let guilt get in the way!
In the process of learning to love the body, there is an element of treating it well and what goes into our body for sure affects it! I eat foods that are healthy for me out of both enjoyment and responsibility. I want to love my body well and taking care of it is a part of that. I’m in process. I want to close by solidifying this truth. To get to a place that you love your self and your body for what it is, you must give yourself permission to make mistakes and love yourself through it all!

My inner world was a mess! I didn’t even realize how restricted I was by the codependency I was living in. I just couldn’t seem to be OK if other people weren’t.
I intentionally worked on my own self, trying to become who I needed to be no matter how other people responded. But if was very hard… if whoever I was with didn’t agree with my viewpoint or my decisions I found myself in a toxic shame spiral. I would question my actions, thinking over and over again about how other people interpreted what I did. I needed everyone else to be “fine” in order to feel peaceful, happy and safe. I subconsciously tried to control how people felt. Basically, if I could help someone get to a better spot then I would put all my energy into that! Even if that meant changing who I authentically was to make them feel more comfortable.
Codependency shows up as people pleasing, self sabotage, neglecting your own self repeatedly to ensure everyone else is okay! It looks heroic at times. Some people even admire the helpers. The key is to know what drives you to help. There’s nothing wrong with being a nice, kind-hearted person, but when you’re acting from a place of codependency its toxic for you.
Interdependency is much better for your mind and body! A give and take between two parties that doesn’t feel manipulative or controlling. It’s both parties compromising and helping each other out pretty much equally.
It’s great to love and support friends and family along the way, but it’s ultimately their responsibility to get themselves to the place they need to be. You shouldn’t be fighting for someone’s inner wellness or their happiness more than they are!
I had learned how to live overly codependent from a very young age. It was a protective mechanism for me and a means of survival at one point that I became very accustomed to and subconsciously lived out in every relationship I had. It made me feel safe. I could help people and keep the focus on them. In that I wouldn’t have to expose myself and potentially set myself up for rejection!
My suggestion is to substitute codependent living for interdependence, especially if you want to create some ease for yourself! Go about it however feels right for you. Uproot codependency gently or abruptly. Establish boundaries. Make changes. Disappoint people. Start loving your self better. Start living for yourself and not just for everyone else! By becoming interdependent you’ll end up with more support and you’ll be a better support to yourself!!
We’re all in process. I embrace the years of my life that don’t look the same as today. They were all a part of my process to get to where I am now. I haven’t arrived! I’ll continue the process and embrace my story as I go.

To explore and learn more about yourself and how to transform your holidays take advantage of my exclusive program, How to Radically Change Your Holidays righthere!
Be aware of what your subconscious thoughts and beliefs are so they can surface and help you understand yourself better. Only you can do the inner work for yourself, but certainly I am here as a support! If you’re coming to a block when you start to think and you’re not sure why then set up a coaching session and we can discuss and together discover the answers! Go directly to my scheduler to set up a time we can meet virtually or in person.
For starters, you will have to make a choice to unlearn familiar patterns and change mindsets in order to radically change yourself and your life.
Consider: How did your parents or caregivers live out life around holidays? Did they enjoy the celebrations and the preparations or were they stressed and overwhelmed?
In childhood we naturally absorb the beliefs of our parents and caregivers. Start to think through and determine what are some of your beliefs (the reasons why you do the things you do) surrounding holiday celebrations. Think through the following questions… Are you concerned with what others think of you, or do you wonder how they perceive you? If you are, what are the perceived ideas you have. In any given situation, why do you say yes, or why would you say no?
LIST:
Which holidays you celebrate in the course of the year.
What are your responsibilities within those holiday celebrations?
Why do you those things?
Would you like to keep doing all the same things? (Are they feeling light and easy enough or are they heavy, creating stress and overwhelm within you?)
If you want to stop doing any one thing is their hesitation? If so, why do you think that is?
If you want to keep doing it is that the best thing for you and those closest to you?
To explore and learn more about yourself and how to transform your holidays take advantage of my exclusive program, How to Radically Change Your Holidays righthere!
