We love art... but we also love interesting local people. This episode we talk to Maureen Pigott who felt so strongly about the imbalances in normal life that she decided to throw her hat in to the ring of local politics and is running in the local elections next year in Ballymahon/ Edgeworthstown for Sinn Fein.
In Mullingar Fleadh week, we talk to Mick Foster. Icon of Irish music with his partner Tony Allen, Foster and Allen have delighted audiences worldwide with their particular brand of traditional tunes. Olivia Finn is an artist based in Kilbeggan, County Westmeath. Formally a secondary school teacher and an English and Politics graduate, Olivia has been painting since 2019. Working with acrylic and oil paints, Olivia depicts the Irish landscape and its wildlife in an imaginative, fantastical way. Influenced by Surrealism and abstract art, Olivia is an artist who is passionate about depicting the times we live in including environmental awareness, social justice and the beauty of nature.
Liam Hall Walshe is a Westmeath native who wants to make the Midlands county the capital of Irish filmaking. We talk about his inspirations, his plans for his multiple projects and his upcoming film 'D' Boys' which is set for a spring '23 release.
