How does she excel at this juggling act? She shares her secrets to achieving success in multiple disciplines (and yes, a lot of it is to do with...DISCIPLINE).

She has startling clarity about her purpose and that for me was an eye-opener.

Above all, she is lovely and always happy to lend a helping hand (trust me I would know!).

What we really mean to our mothers, the true depth of her emotion, her unlimited capacity to give love, we will never really understand. Unless we experience it ourselves as mothers.

From babies to infants, from toddlers to school-goers to tweens, the most important woman in our life is usually our mother. And then the time comes for us to fly away and conquer the world. When this situation hits, most mothers don’t know what do. They want to express the fact that they might struggle to cope without you, but they don’t want to distract you from what life has in store for you either.

So when the time came for me (the only child to my parents) to leave home, I could only imagine what my mother was going through – so what did I do? I did what I know to do, I wrote a song about it, which is the one you just heard. The song takes a mother’s perspective – and it talks about that first night that she is away from you. How does she sleep? Does she sleep at all? What emotions is she going through knowing that her postal address and yours are never going to be the same again?

When I sang this song for the first time at a concert in Auckland, many mothers in the audience were moved to tears.

The song opened the floodgates, so to speak. The song brought forth the love they felt for their child or children, the hopes that they had for their son or daughter. And by doing that I was able to form a deep connection with the mothers in the crowd, most of whom I had never met. This connection, built on a foundation of love, warmth and hope told the mothers in the crowd that I knew what they were going through. That I was aware of what they were feeling deep down. And that despite being strangers, we had a common glue that held us together.

This is the power when words and tune come together to become song. This is the power of love, warmth and hope.

Did you know that endurance is actually a choice? And that you can choose to endure anything cheerfully?

There are three main enemies to enduring cheerfully: Self – Pity, Anger and Anxiety. Today we discuss all of them in a bit of detail so that you can learn to smile and endure at the same time.

--

I am a marketer and I know the role that marketing plays in any business. It is usually the difference between a business having a bumper year and a bummer year.

But I have spent enough time investing in my own self-development to know that if a business owner doesn’t have the right mindset than nothing can really help the business itself. And I really want to help fellow business owners with the mental side of things!

Those mental blocks? Whoa you need to win that battle mate, if you want to win the war!

What about the mind can prevent you from becoming the Next Big Thing?

Lots, but I want to talk about one aspect today.

And it is called endurance. And while the word endurance is very closely to the word resilience- – which gets a lot more air time than endurance. It is still different to resilience, in its meaning and definition.

In simple words: Resilience is your ability to bounce back, Endurance is your ability to keep pushing on through.

Endurance is commonly attached to the physical body, but in truth, it works the same with the mind. Can your mind endure?

Contrary to popular belief, I want you to know that Endurance is in fact a CHOICE. You choose to endure. You don’t HAVE to endure.

Those that tell themselves, “I HAVE to endure. I have no choice.” Yeah look I am really sorry but that is coming from a place of self-pity. You are essentially saying, “Poor me, I am out of choices, and look how I am HAVING to endure what life has thrown at me.”

No, endurance is a choice. Even if you don’t agree, you need to tell yourself that, “I am CHOOSING to Endure, with a smile.”

So the question really is: Can your mind choose to endure cheerfully?

What if I told you that YOU and Novak Djokovic are no different?

No, I am not talking about your tennis skills. I am sure he is a planet apart. I am talking about the mindset and how you and him approach goal setting.

To run a goal setting workshop with us, as part of marketing workshops, call us on 0424 287 904 or email us on shriram@businessnirvana.com

--

I am going to talk about Novak Djokovic, but I want you to draw parallels with your own business career and with your own goals.

Before we get into it, here is what I don’t want you to think. I don’t want you to think that you are any different to Novak Djokovic

Again, DO NOT dare brush all this off thinking, “Oh but that is Novak. I am not Novak.” For starters, he did not think, “Oh but that is Roger, I am not Roger.”

At the end of 2010, he had ONE Grand Slam to his name. Just ONE. Now go and put yourself in Novak’s shoes. Become him.

You are from Serbia. A country torn by war. A country that had never seen a tennis superstar. You become a professional tennis player. You are one of the best, but you are NOT the best. Because of two other players by the name, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

So coming back to the end of 2010 – you look at how you career has panned out. Sure you are World Number 3, but you are not satisfied.

You then set a Big Hair Audacious Goal – you want to have more Grand Slam titles than Roger and Rafa. You want to become the undisputed Greatest Player of All Time. But can you?

It is easy to focus on hard data, such as income or home address. But a buyer persona explores the intangible desires that drive customers to make purchases.

A buyer persona might be as simple as a chart with several bullet points or may take the form of an elaborate story. However you decide to present the persona, it will contain the essence of what drives a customer.

So then the question arises how does a business owner actually understand what their customer needs? How does a business actually demonstrate care about their customer’s wants?

What is marketing?

After all, marketing basically is finding a way to position your company so that customers choose you over the competition.

You will note that I used and even emphasised on three words that all begin from the letter ‘C’ – Company, Customers and the Competition. And customers will do that if they perceive more value from you for the price they are paying than what the rest of the market has to offer.

And that in very simple language is what the term Value Proposition is all about. It comes back to the Three Cs.Ideally, everything you do in marketing should incorporate these three Cs. Today we will talk about one of those three Cs – The Customer.

Listen on to know how businesses are doing it right!
