"You're listening to the sound of my voice." Welcome to the UNPLGD Podcast where we break down the world that we see around us. I am your host DeAngilo Valentine, and I am always curious to know how the world works. To unplug simply means to not take things at face value but to question why are things so. We are living in a world where there are crazy things that are happing from Racism, Sexism, the Family structure is divided and people are just not spiritually grounded these days. As you listen I want you to question the world around you and find out the truth for yourself and take action.
We all have fallen victim to saying that we know someone either online or a fictional character. We hate, love, or love, to hate them. We have invested so much into their life that we have called them friends, lovers, or family. Parasocial relationships are on the rise more than ever and we don't even realize that we actually don't really know the person that we are so enamored with. In this episode, we learn about the effects of parasocial relationships and how to make sure we don't continue to fall victim to it again.
You want that promotion, the raise, or not to be looked past when you are at work. In this episode, I talk about the few things that you must do when earning respect in the workplace.
This is the one thing that always holds us back when it comes to getting projects done. Procrastination, I would say is the ultimate killer of productivity. You think that you have all the time in the world but, you are left with things unfinished and overwhelmed as things continue to pile up. It is not always bad to procrastinate because there are folks who work great under pressure but that is only a small percent.
In the midst of this economy. Some people feel that they are not given enough or they are overworked and have lost their passion. The boiling point has been reached instead of outright quitting. They withhold their best at work and do the bare minimum. Most now don't even bother showing up to work. Quiet quitting has become the new norm.

If you’re like me who went to a Post Secondary school, most likely you took out a student loan. After that, you may have been pushed to get a credit card to build credit. You could have even financed a car. The point I'm making is that you are in debt. Not all debts are bad but when you miss a payment you are subject to owing more due to the intrest. You pay the minimum amount but its seems like its not going anywhere. you have now entered the cycle of revolving debt where the creditors have you as their lifetime customer until you pay it off.
In this episode I talk about the things I did to get out of debt.

Social pressures, needing to level up, and you're always in competition with someone. These are only a few the negatives that social media does to a person when experiencing anxiety because, they spent all day looking at their social media. Now you may be wondering why would I talk about the negatives of social media, when there are so many positives and people whom have become successful because of the platforms. To be honest, that is great and all but in this day an age of the growing platforms we have created more narcissistic people, people with depression and trolls. In today’s episode my guest Demi Whelbourn who is a frequent listener, contacted me to contribute to this topic.
Enjoy !!!

In this Episode, We explore the topic of understanding anger management. Anger is something not to be ashamed of but it is something that one must understand. Anger is an emotion but it requires taming in certain areas when it gets out of hand. Today's guess Sarah James from The John Howard Society of Toronto, is very familiar with those who want to improve their anger management skills. She is here to break it down, lend her expertise to those who are struggling to understand and harness their anger, and for loved ones to have space where there can feel supported. Anger Management is part of maintaining our mental health. Though at times some of us see it as taboo, it is time to shift the paradigm and have open in honest conversations to become better people.
In this episode, we talk about the racial biases in Ontario school towards black children, particularly boys. Our distinguished guest on the show Alana Craig an educator for the Toronto District School Board breaks down how the system stacks the odds against black children in the system and why it won't help them. Black boys are among the highest to drop out of high school or even continue to post-secondary schools. In order for us to find a solution, we need to unplug and examine all the factors. Once that is done, there needs to be an action plan upon moving forward to a better brighter future.
Let us unplug from the world and look at the reality of things. What does it mean to unplug from the world and all the chaos? And what is the difference between being unplugged and woke?
