I am back with another epsiode of the show today and today I have with me a microphone that is very cheap and I would like to say somehow effective, now how good or bad it is I leave it up to you guys who will listen to this episode and for the sake of keeping it very relevant I have just included one comparison with another microphone which is also a very cheapo microphone called the Maono AU-HD 300, which I procured for 40 bucks around 4-5 months back, there 9is a post processing test and except processing on one segment everything else is RAW with only loudness normalisation active for levelling audio at fair levels.

Hello ladies & gentlemen and welcome to a new episode of A Talks Mics and today I talk about reflection shields. As you all are aware about the fact that us podcasters and microphone/tech enthusiasts are always looking forward to enhance and improve their audio game continuously and in that pursuit we come across a lot of gear that promises a variety of things, some promise a better sound, some promise better performance and some promise that you can convert absolutely any space into a studio, yes, some do and that's what actually surprises me the most because a lot actually goes into a space to make it a studio, its not that you cannot create a studio anywhere but usually it does take some work at least to actually have working studio setup that enables you to produce fine results. Reflection shields not only come with a lot of promises, they also come with a lot of myths, so in this episode which is actually based on a discussion I had with some of my friends on a casual Sunday evening about reflection filters and if they really are that useless, I reserve any comments on that here, so its better you tune in to the episode to know what I actually want to convey. I think ladies & gentlemen that this episode can at least tell you something about the nature and effects, benefits or cons of these shields so as to actually enable you to choose if you want to have one or to simply stay away and rather invest in some make shift booths or proper room treatment to get that nice sound out of most of your microphones and especially, condenser microphones. Today while I researched some new microphones that I was planning to buy since some time, I realised how creating content has actually changed, and it has changed for good! For once we can say that people have become more cautious about the way their videos sound and how they really just are trying to better their audio game. In this short episode, I talk about my observations about the changing audio scene, my views on microphones for videos like omni or directional, lavs or shotguns and some more, I hope you will relate. Today’s recording is in Hindi because I have been watching a lot of Indian Youtubers and seeing them churn out some really good content, so cheers to all of them & all of you who create something meaningful each day. I would someday like to talk about this topic some more and that episode will be in English.
How are you ladies & gentlemen and I am back with a quick ATM episode that talks about sibilance, yes the same demon that can cause your ears to bleed if not taken care of at the recording stage or the post processing stage or both. I was listening to this audiobook which had a great story, a great narrator, some great production quality and ofc a great production house behind it with just one exception...sibilance..yes you got that right, now with all things sibilance or plosives happening around its kinda difficult to concentrate on what you are listening to because your mind is constantly drawn towards those sharp SSSSSSSSSSS sounds that the narrator makes while they pronounce the S or C words, I haven't abandoned that audiobook but decided to record this episode for you guys talking about sibilance and what potential workarounds are available around it while recording and after recording your masterpiece, remember some small things can go a really long way when it comes to differentiating between good and not so good recordings.....and it is not always your microphone!

This is actually my second time when I bought the NT USB Used, and this time it came at a better price. I wanted to do a full blown episode with this guy but I think I have done one in the past as well, so you can ind it if you just scroll through the episode list, if you are not in the mood however, here is a new one (not the full deal I know but its still something). In this mini episode of the NT-USB (not mini), I just talk about what I like & what I don't like about the microphone, what I think about some other microphones and how I think my search for a nice USB microphone (condenser) might just have ended.
All audio in this episode is completely raw & the only processing on it is loudness normalization, so bear with me for you might hear background noise, sound of motor bikes, etc in this recording.

How have you been ladies & gentlemen, in this very quick episode of A Talks Mics today I talk about a really stupid issue I faced for more than 3 months now with my new laptop and which kinda had a relatively quick solution, if you by any chance use a dell laptop and your laptop is making huge fan noise you might want to look into downloading something called Dell Power Manager from their official website https://www.dell.com/support/contents/en-in/article/product-support/self-support-knowledgebase/software-and-downloads/dell-power-manager or from the windows store in form of an app, you can then access the Thermal Management from the said utility and turn down down your fan noise by selecting an appropriate setting which might suit your requirements. On purpose I have not done any kind of processing on the audio of this episode so you can listen to how quieter things have gotten from earlier when I wasn't able to even record anything without encountering that disturbing fan noise.
Remember this only solves the issue of fan noise if everything else is working fine with your device, in case there are some other issues that may be triggering your loud fans, you may want to look somewhere else.

I also talk about my love for USB Microphones and how I want some better and affordable microphones to come out and take the podcasting world by storm, I talk about USB & non USB microphone options and which I think I can recommend and which I cannot with ofc some reasonable explanations, so yeah an episode that was supposed to be a short one is now not so short but its here! Today while I searched and searched for a nice compact, non messy USB condenser microphone, which I could use for recording those instant bouts of poetry or a podcast episode on the go, I almost added one to my amazon cart and was about to check out, when this realisation happened and it helped me save some potential cash outflow. Hello & welcome ladies & gentlemen to yet another episode of A Talks: Mics, It's been a long time, almost a month since we had an episode of this podcast but what to do, life is full of unwanted tantrums and difficulties, but as they say..such is life. So here I am back with another episode of this podcast with a new guy, yes, a new guy and I have to say that I am pretty pleasantly surprised by it's sound quality. I will not be mentioning the name of this guy anywhere in the description coz I just want you all to listen to this guy with a clean slate approach, no bias, no judgements, no price tags, no baggage, whatsoever so you can get an idea about how this thing sounds and is it even any good at all. I have post processed the intro and outro of this episode which can serve as the post processing test for this microphone and can enable you to decipher how this microphone could sound with some processing on it, for the rest of the episode, I have compared this microphone to 8 other microphones so as to enable you all to decide whether this microphone is any good and if not which one out of all the others do you prefer sound wise, all of this episode has been adequately loudness normalised so you don't have to fiddle with that volume knob on whatever device you are using to enable a fair comparison. Ladies & Gentlemen, today I talk about a really pricey USB Condenser Microphone, I did not get this microphone for it's original cost but rather preferred to buy it renewed from amazon, it's a fine sounding device with some nice and some not very nice things. Today's episode is mostly an initial impressions kinda thing which is totally raw and unprocessed except some loudness normalisation. This can help you get an idea about how this microphone can sound if used in situations where you can't process your audio much or if you want to record on the go. I will be doing a full episode on this microphone along with some comparisons with it's mini version in a new episode very soon. Its become a common sighting that a lot of new microphones that are coming out are just emphasising on one thing..mids..and when that wasn’t enough, some people claim that they sound very vintage just because they overemphasise the mids, I too had some thoughts so I thought why not share them with all of you through this episode.
Today's morning started off with an e-mail from Rode, they had informed about the new version of Rode Connect application which came in with a surprise, yes, they decided to make the VideoMic NTG compatible with the Rode connect applications and well this was my personal demand since a very long time now and finally it was granted! So while I was pretty excited about it I had some questions in mind..questions that could only have been answered by testing this new combo, and so I was on it. I am hoping this testing would be of some use to you my wonderful listener and I would appreciate if I would have been of any help at all.

Ladies & Gentlemen, today I was just enjoying the evening and scrolling through some of my plugins, actually rearranging them in my directory properly when I suddenly saw the Nectar 3 Elements sitting there and then instantly I remembered that I had purchased this thing and well, never used it, so I thought why not do it right away. Then when I just wanted to do a basic test for myself and my discord friends, I just kept on recording and remembering things which had to be shared with people aond, so I thought why not just make it an episode of A Talks Mics! and well, here it is. In this episode, I also share something I read on a sub reddit a couple of days ago about headphones for voiceovers, since I wanted to give you all a nice long processing experience with the Nectar 3 Elements, I thought while I share this with you guys, its gonna be a nice long processed segment for you to listen to and judge it for yourselves. My thoughts on the iZotope Nectar 3 Elements are kinda positive, its a nice run and gun editing plugin, definitely not free but worth the money you spend for acquiring it, is it just a plug and play thing, yes, but does it give you the option to tweak stuff to your liking, definitely yes, however bear in mind that no AI could be a substitute for your own adjustments and judgements, because how you edit is also a reflection of what you think how something must sound like, so yes definitely a nice plugin for people who are maybe absolute beginners and have no idea what fancy names like EQ & Compression all about or for someone who just wants to throw out some quick recordings without them being absolutely raw. I however observed that the plugin did emphasise on clarity a lot, it took out some of the bass in my voice which I kinda liked but maybe the Nectar did not, it added a certain thing called 'Tone' to the processing which made my voice sound rather unpleasant and tiring whih I did not like so I removed that as well, the compression was ok, no major colouring added there, the desser was not as effective as I would probably want it to be but I had to tweak it to my liking as well, all in all a great experience, worth the cost but still requires work on your end as per your judgement. That being said, do keep in mind that maybe you will like what you hear coming out of the plugin the very first time you use it, this did not happen with me, maybe because I am a bit more fussy in the processing department, but my overall opinion is that it works alright, again, that's just me and I request you not take my opinion on face value rather try it yourself and find what you like or dislike yourself and maybe share it with the world. So, now let's jump into today's A Talks Mics!

So lets go on today's journey and listen to the SM57 with its Windscreen the A2WS & some other microphones, some tests and some comparisons, in the end, the differences may be very minor but they are there and to some they might be material and to others they might not be of any use, but we are here to discuss, compare & enjoy microphones and all things audio. In today's episode of A Talks Mics, I discuss a recent addition to my condenser mic locker called the Warm Audio WA-47Jr. The Jr has been a fantastic experience till date and I absolutely have zero complaints regarding this microphone. I today's episode I discuss the Junior along with some comparisons of this microphone with some other microphones that I have so as to give you a picture of how it compares to the other microphones and which one can suit your voice out of the ones included herein. There has also been a serious debate about this microphone vs the very popular and great sounding microphone the Rode NT-1, which till date remains my most used condenser microphone, so I try to discuss the comparison, the tonal, build and other characteristic differences between these two microphones. The Jr is sometimes not very readily available in India so for those of you who are in India the wait might be a bit longer and the price might be slightly over what it's generally supposed to be, in that case what are the alternatives, and how you can go about getting it has also been discussed in today's episode. How have you been? well today's episode of A Talks Mics features windscreens, with my recent acquisition of the Rode WS2 I wanted t test out if the windscreens are any good at all to tone down some of that obnoxious high end on a few microphones that can really be a matter fo concern to some people, so I decided to do a comparison on the lines of with the windscreen and without the windscreen format, so here it is finally, ready for all of you to dig into, hoping you all will like it, I shall see you in the next one!

Today's episode should not even be called an episode tbh, because this is just another sample I recorded to test out the "other" machine that I have and which I usually don't use for recording as much as I use my main machine, more on that in the episode btw. So the purpose of this testing was majorly boredom, I thought why not test out the other thing and let people know how important a quiet machine is for a person who is a recording enthusiast or a professional for that matter, also, it doesn't just stop there, the kind of microphone you use plays a pivotal role in this process as well, when you are surrounded by noises of various kinds, you must choose for yourself a microphone that is good at rejecting stuff and picking up the relevant stuff, that is your voice and not everything around you. So for this testing I chose to pickup a shotgun microphone which is really very very versatile, and you guys must already know it, it's called the Rode VideoMic NTG or simply VMNTG as I like to call it (long names are such a pain you see), so while using a microphone which offers fantastic rejection, the noise levels picked up by it from the fans on the machine are just so annoying (to me that is, would love to know what you guys hear and think about them). So eventually what was recorded as a sample is now a podcast episode, and only with the thought that I could maybe, just maybe, help someone out there with it, so here we go, here is the latest offering of A Talks Mics, dedicated to all you wonderful listeners.
Sometimes What Happens Is That While You Are Amongst People Something They Say Just Stays With You For A Long Time And Then Really Starts Haunting You, Well, One Of My Buddies Told Me Once That I Recommend The Q2U To So Many People But I Have Never Ever Tried It On Myself, Which Was Kinda True So Since Then I Had This Feeling That Alright, I Should One Day Be The Proud Owner Of A Q2U Myself, So Without Any Further Ado Ladies And Gentlemen, Today Finally It Arrived And Its Now In The Testing Arena.
I Did Not Process Most Of The Parts Of This Episode Except The Ones Where I Had To Do A Post Processing Test, The Entire Episode Has Been Of Course, Loudness Normalized So As To Resolve Any Level Matching Issues, What Happened Was Very Interesting, While I Started Doing The Comparisons, I Just Decided To Compare The Q2U With Only The Audio Technica ATR 2100 Microphone, But As Things Progressed, They Got More Out Of Control, And More Stuff Was Thrown In. This Could Sound Like A Really Overkill Comparison But Who Knows Someone Might T Some Benefit Out Of It Someday, So Well, Without Writing Much In The Show Notes And Just Lengthening Them, Lets Jump Into Today's Episode!
On Today's Episode Of A Talks Mics, I Talk About A Cheap Chinese Microphone That I Acquired For Around 15 Bucks, Honestly I Cannot Declare That This Is The Most Cost Effective Usb Microphone I Have Ever Used Or Come Across, Or Its The Best Sounding Cheap Microphone I Have Ever Used, No, Not At All, But What I Can Tell You Guys S That This One Is Pretty Usable, Workable And Passable, However Before You Go Ahead And Order This Microphone, Wait, Well, This Microphone Has A Serious Distortion Problem Even At Lower Levels Of Gain Which I Observed While I Was Editing This Episode And Then Immediately Decided To Send It Back Because I Am Not Spending My Money At Defective Equipment. In Regards To This Particular Microphone Or These Particular Kinds Of Cheap Chinese Microphones, I Have Infact Heard Many Of Them Causing Issues Or Simply Just Not Working Out Of The Box Or They Going Bad After A Few Months Use, But Thats A Risk We All Are Probably Aware Of By Now, Aren't We? So I Discuss About This Microphone Today And Giving You My Views On How I Felt About It And Whether Its Any Good At All

First of all you have my apologies for keeping a long gap between this episode and the previous episode, and I know I had promised you that a comparison episode between various condenser mics that i currently own will be posted as part of a follow up episode to the previous episode, but it did not come in time, well, its coming!
But in today's episode I talk about a new Pencil Condenser Microphone that I acquired and i decided to give you guys a nice overview of the microphone so that you may decide for yourself if that microphone is any good or can it be helpful to you for creating something that you desire even after being on a short budget.

Hello ladies and gentlemen, how have you been! i hope all of you are doing great and you are keeping healthy and well. In today's episode of A Talks Mics I talk about a new microphone which i received a few days back and i have been using it since and well, its been one hell of a ride, i had initially thought that that maybe this one was going to be another harsh sounding, overly bright, crisp kinda microphones that i would probably return, but i was, i have to say, very pleasantly surprised. The microphone does well in both sound and looks department, and is a great addition to anyone's condenser microphone collection. Today's episode has been kept completely unprocessed, so you have my apologies for the weird background noises from my weird background, well, i haven't included a post processing test and some comparisons with any other microphones yet because i feel its important to get a nice feel about a microphone first than rather getting lost in comparisons and specification competitions as can be found probably everywhere on the internet, but worry not, i have got you covered on that front too, in the next episode i wil be including a post processing test alongwith some comparisons of the 440 with some other condenser mics i currently own. I am purposely not revealing the name of the microphone just now because you must have atleast something to look forward to in the episode, shouldn't you? yeah? so why the wait, just jump in and get a good feel of this new addition!

In a world full of legends, here is another one, i had been waiting for the arrival of this package since a month now and it finally arrived, and boy does it work! its just excellent, as a part of a regular exercise whenever i get a new microphone, i record some comparisons of that microphone with some others that i have and same was the case with this one, so then i had an idea, that why not share the comparisons with my wonderful audience, and here you are, this episode of A Talks: Mics, discusses the RE20 and showcases its comparison with some other affordable and not so affordable microphones which are available in the market, the intro and outro portions of the episode have been post processed but the comparison section has been kept completely unprocessed for the sake of genuine comparison except loudness normalisation.
