Today's episode is POWERFUL.
Courtney and Brigette brought on Julia Erman, friend, wife, special needs mom, entrepreneur, author, educator, and speaker. This is a deep, raw, emotional conversation, but one that we need to talk more about. Julia shares her story which includes a lot of suffering. She shares how her faith has propelled her, what grief has been like, and what has kept her moving forward.
Julia offers rich wisdom, inspiration, courage, and encouragement to our listeners, and we are so grateful for our conversation today. We would love to know what resonated with you - and be sure to head over to Julia's socials to connect with her.
Trigger Warning: We talk about cancer and children with special needs with some discussion about child loss. Julia shares her story up until the 18:55 second mark if you would like to skip past her story.

We have a really important conversation to share with you all today! We brought Ashley O'Connor on the show - fitness coach, nurse, podcaster, and bright light for both fitness and nursing communities - to talk about body image, diet culture, and of course our favorite question - what can we do about it?! Ashley shares a ton of brilliant info and insight and we hope this conversation inspires you to love your body more or to untether from the weight of diet culture. And maybe allow you to see how it has impacted your own life as you grow in your wholeness.
We're cheering you on in this journey!

In today's interview, we discuss some of the specific coping skills that Lindsey writes about in her book - and we love the turns and and nooks and crannies we get to discuss as a result. Lindsey also talks about her newest interest in helping women become confident and competent with their personal finance and how she is tailoring her coaching in that space.

Today's episode is part 2 of our series covering the umbrella topic of "connectedness." Today we are specifically talking all about networking. Or, if that word gives you hives, you can call it "relationship building" instead ;)
Courtney starts off the conversation by giving us 5 benefits of networking. We couldn't think of any downsides! Then we wrap up the episode talking about "how-to" networking (with a few "how-not-to" ideas to boot). We cover the energy to bring to an event, the magic that already exists in your inner and outer circle, how networking can expand opportunities, and how to get you in the right frame of mind to network.

Also, if you have been following along on any of our socials, you may know that we are hosting a meetup brunch event called "Women in Wellness" on 4/22 that is local to us in Central Washington State. The event is discussed in more detail, as well as more information (and us gushing) about our guest speaker, Dr. Tara Anderson, DNP, FNP-BC, ARNP, PHN, She is the CEO and Medical Director of Monarch Healthcare Solutions. We are so blessed to have her speak to our community!

Today's episode is a continuation of our conversation about boundaries from last week. Last week Courtney and Brigette talked about why boundaries are important, and this week we are getting into the meat and potatoes of HOW TO set boundaries that are loving and respectful.
This episode is formatted to first look at how to recognize you need a boundary, followed by discussion about how to go about setting the boundary with some things to consider. The episode wraps up talking about how to hold and sustain the boundary, with some thoughts on when it might be appropriate to re-evaluate. This conversation about boundaries is an important one. Courtney and Brigette answer the question of WHY boundaries are important - what purpose do they serve? And what happens if we don't have boundaries or uphold the boundaries we set?
Courtney and Brigette also discuss how to support other loved ones in our life in upholding their boundaries - even if the boundary doesn't feel good to us. Listen in, and join us next week for part 2 where we will discuss types of boundaries and more on HOW to set boundaries. We can't wait to hear what you take away from this mini-series!

Courtney and Brigette discuss how they have received a question several times over the past few weeks that goes something like this, "I have so many things I want to do! How do I choose what to focus on?" The reality is we all have limits and finite resources (re: time!). There may be seasons we are in where we identify 35 things we want to work on or accomplish, and if we try to do them all at the same time, we're probably not going to do any of it well. This is setting ourselves up for failure and can even be a form of self-sabotage.
In today's episode, Courtney and Brigette walk us through how to prioritize our goals. They discuss two key lists to make, and then suggest three filters that you can run your goals through to aid in removing some and prioritizing what remains to ensure the areas you're choosing to focus your time and energy are in alignment with your core values in the season you're in. This is a very tactical episode that is sure to be helpful throughout the year - not just while doing goal setting at the beginning of the new year!

One Google search will make it very evident that choosing the best salt for you is trickier than it would seem. Table salt, kosher salt, sea salt, and Himalayan pink salt (plus a lot of derivatives)...how do you choose?
In today's episode, first Courtney and Brigette break down the question of whether salt is friend or foe. Spoiler: we choose friend! And then Courtney leads the discussion on pros and cons of salt options and how to choose which one(s) is best for you. This episode will help you the next time you're in the grocery store or even help you to understand what you currently have in your pantry. 2023, we're WHOLLY here for you!
We love the energy around the new year! Today we are talking about setting your vision and creating action plans for the new year. We discuss why we think it is important, how to think about vision from a wholeness perspective, and we discuss our own processes for the new year.
Today's episode also has detailed instructions for a method that you could adopt to intentionally move toward WHO you want to become and the ways you are wanting to grow this year. Basic steps for this method and discussed in the episode are:
1. Assessing how you're doing in each of your domains that make up your wholeness
2. Picking a couple of things to focus on in the new year
3. Create detailed and specific action plans for those focus areas/goals
4. Set a frequency that you're going to check in on your action plans & frequency to check in on your focus areas
Wishing you more freedom, purpose, rest, service, and sustained joy in 2023!

We haven't talked much yet about spiritual health here on the podcast, which is a critical component of our wholeness and influences all of the other domains. We are talking today about components of a spiritual practice, with encouragement to think about your own spiritual practice and if it may or may not need strengthening. We cover some ideas and components that you could add to enhance your own spiritual practice. We also talk more in depth specifically about prayer and how it covers many practices talked about today in the wellness community - things like gratitude and reflection.

Today's episode is our third installment of our series explaining what the title "organic" means for us as consumers and our food. The culmination of this series is an interview with an organic farmer, which will be released next week so stay tuned!
Our topic today is...meat. Not a pretty word, which matches some ways in which animals are raised in non-organic animal farming. This impacts the nutrient density and quality of our meat, which is discussed in more detail in the episode. Courtney also shares some helpful tips for how to discern labels such as organic, grass-fed, natural, and free range. Some myths were debunked and we learned more about how our meat goes from farm to store to table, and how each of us can vote with our dollars when we are shopping.

We discuss the challenges of buying organic - including cost and availability. This is another reason why the Dirty Dozen and the Clean Fifteen are so helpful. At the end of the episode, Courtney teaches us how to wash our produce using either a baking soda bath or a vinegar bath. And she also teaches us WHY this is helpful.
We are leading up to our culmination of the Why Choose Organic series, which will be an interview with an organic farmer. We are excited to get the behind the scenes story on why choosing organic is so good for the physical health domain on our wholeness dashboard.

Our first Friday episode! This one is a solo episode, where Brigette talks about how the holiday season can lead us to feeling overwhelmed, not enjoying the season, and feeling guilty about not meeting our own expectations - that were probably too high in the first place!
Brigette shares an activity that she did (and shares her results) to help set better expectations going into this holiday season. We invite you to give this activity a try! This activity could also be useful for other seasons that can lead to overwhelm or where there is a lot going on.

We are mixing things up a little bit here at Her Wholeness! Today is the first of a series we will be publishing about organic food. We will be culminating the series with an interview with an organic farmer! We will also be publishing a second episode every week on Fridays that will focus on other domains that make up our wholeness. So look for a new episode now published on Fridays as well.
In part 1 of organics, Courtney leads us through a discussion about what is required to be certified organic. We talk about the normalcy of getting our food from the grocery store or supermarket and how that has evolved over time. We also discuss some organic farming practices, which help to get more minerals into our produce, and henceforth into our bodies, and how that differs from conventional farming. This is a shorter, but still dense episode! Let us know what you learned by tagging us!

Oh, clutter! In today's episode we ponder what having clutter around your space and for your mind is costing us. Time. Emotion. Energy. Potential. Productivity. Money. Brigette read page 90 of a book by Patrice Washington, Redefine Wealth for Yourself (linked below!), then C&B talk about this excerpt and pull out topics to discuss further.
This episode will be helpful to give you ideas of small things you can tackle to declutter before working to some of the more difficult things to declutter, like sentimental stuff. We would love to see how this episode inspires you to make your environment (physical and mental) more organized! What are you tackling first?

Tune in to hear more about what we can do (and also what we don't need to do) to help our body to function optimally with fluid and electrolyte balance. This one may make you want to reach for water, or it may give you satisfaction that you're doing an adequate job already.
As always, let us know what you think!

We are so honored to introduce you to Amanda DeLaney. Having gone through her own financial journey, she now helps and teaches women how to tackle major debt, gain control of their finances, and build confidence along the way through her mentorship programs at Financial FixHER. "Getting Started" is something we all have struggled with at some point. In today's episode, Courtney and Brigette adapt some frameworks (nursing process, Plan-Do-Study-Act rapid cycle process improvement framework, and System Development Life Cycle) to use for any things in your life you are wanting to get started on.
Courtney discusses an adapted version of the PDSA cycle that she likes to use for projects. Brigette proposes a Wholeness model for taking action and walks through what to do in each step to set you up for success in whatever it is you're starting. The stages for this model are: Assess & Analyze, Plan & Prepare, Implement & Do, and Evaluate & Adapt. Courtney and Brigette agree that checking in with yourself frequently throughout the process is essential for optimal health, and propose a 5th "self-assessment" stage.
Listen in for details on different activities that could be done in each stage to set you up for success - however you are measuring it - and make you feel more confident to getting started and taking action. Follow us on IG:
