Hey smart human, did you ever dream about what you wanted to be when you grew up?

If, like me, you did, then you probably restricted yourself in what was possible for you.

And I'm guessing didn't consider becoming a business & cultural anthropologist who has designed a connecting tool using the power of LEGO serious play... This is exactly the beauty of my guest on this week's podcast Episode: what Dr. Kate is doing and creating is WAY better than anything you could dream up ahead of time.

In this week's episode, Dr. Kate Raynes-Goldie discusses the importance of incorporating fun, play, and connection into our lives. She emphasizes the importance of creating inclusive environments that prioritize psychological safety and consent. We dig into what it means to be neurodivergent, the importance of freedom, the transformative power of information, and much much more.

If you only take one thing away from this Episode it should be this: Have more fun!

The main teaching and takeaways from this interview:

  • Incorporating fun, play, and connection is crucial for a fulfilling life. By engaging in activities that bring joy and foster connections with others, we can enhance our overall well-being and satisfaction.
  • By using hands-on activities and creative thinking, we can tap into our imagination and explore new perspectives.
  • Creating inclusive environments requires prioritizing psychological safety and consent. It is important to create spaces where individuals feel safe to express themselves and where their boundaries are respected.
  • Understanding and accepting neurodivergent conditions is essential for promoting inclusivity.
  • Innovation has the potential to bring about transformative change. By embracing new ideas and approaches, we can challenge the status quo and find innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • The concept of freedom and the role of power play a significant role in making a positive impact. By understanding the dynamics of power and advocating for freedom and equality, we can work towards creating a more just and equitable society.

In this podcast episode, I look at overconsuming knowledge and its detrimental impact on our lives. Because constantly seeking new information without taking the time to process and apply it can lead to overwhelm and a lack of focus.

In this digital age, we're blessed with an abundance of information at our fingertips. But, have you ever felt overwhelmed by the sheer volume of knowledge you're consuming? I've been there, with a book collection growing faster than I could read and a reading list longer than my expected lifespan.

Here's the thing: Overconsumption of knowledge can actually hinder us from taking action and fully experiencing life. It can become a buffer, preventing us from applying what we learn. I've found myself guilty of this, using learning as a way to avoid other tasks or uncomfortable emotions.

So, what's the solution? It's all about balance. Here are some strategies I've found helpful:

  • Limit the amount of new information you consume.
  • Cap your learning hours.
  • Apply the 50/50 rule - spend equal time learning and applying what you learn.

And if you struggle with saying no to new courses or certifications, I've got an "emergency intervention protocol" for you.

In the end, it's about identifying that one thing that would make your life 20% easier and prioritizing it.

Main teachings and takeaways:
- Overconsuming knowledge can hinder us from taking action and making progress in our lives.
- Constantly seeking new information without processing and applying it can lead to overwhelm and a lack of focus.
- Strategies to strike a balance include setting boundaries on information consumption, prioritizing quality over quantity, and allowing time for reflection and implementation.

In this podcast episode, I dive into the topic of setting boundaries in relationships .

You'll learn what they are (and that, contrary to what some people think, they are NOT universal).

Failing to recognize or establish boundaries can result in stress, anger, and even the dissolution of a relationship.

In this Episode you'll get practical advice on how to set and enforce boundaries effectively, such as

  • regulating the nervous system during conflicts
  • communicating boundaries clearly and honestly
  • realising that setting boundaries is not an attack, but rather a necessary conversation to address unresolved issues.

The main teachings and takeaways from this Episode:

  1. Boundaries are personal non-negotiables that differ for each individual based on their background, values, and experiences.
  2. Ignoring or neglecting boundaries can lead to stress, anger, and potential relationship breakdown.
  3. Setting and enforcing boundaries requires self-reflection, clear communication, and regulating the nervous system during conflicts.
  4. Establishing boundaries = being in integrity.

In this episode, I explore the significance of compromise in relationships and how it can bring about both power and joy.

Contrary to popular belief compromise does NOT mean giving up power or settling for less. Instead, it can actually lead to win-win situations, where both parties feel satisfied and valued.

Stop viewing compromises as deal breakers. Instead of seeing them as sacrifices or concessions, approach them with an open mind and a willingness to find common ground.

Effective communication and understanding each other's needs and desires are crucial in this process. By fostering a spirit of compromise, your relationships can flourish and grow stronger.

Main Teachings and Takeaways:

  • Compromise in relationships does not mean giving up power or settling for less.
  • Compromise can lead to win-win situations, where both parties feel satisfied and valued.
  • All types of relationships can benefit from compromise, not just romantic ones.
  • Compromises should not be seen as deal breakers, but rather as opportunities for growth and understanding.
  • Effective communication and understanding each other's preferences are essential in the process of compromise.

In this podcast episode, I look at designing your future from a meta-perspective and challenge conventional wisdom around visualization techniques.

The commonly suggested approach to visualize your ideal self often lacks emotional depth and may not be the best strategy for fast-brained humans like you for reasons I dive into in this episode.

Instead of asking the question "Who do I want to become?" I suggest a more dynamic and emotionally resonant method: focus on how you want to feel on a daily basis.

This is how you can 'design' a fun future:

  • make a list of the emotions you wish to experience regularly
  • identify activities or experiences that evoke these emotions.
  • redesign your life to incorporate more and more of those activities

By focusing on feelings rather than a rigid identity, you can chart a path towards a life that allows for flexibility, resilience, and fulfillment.

This way of doing things turns traditional self-development on its head by emphasizing feeling states as guideposts, which enables a more organic and emotionally rich planning process.

Main Learnings and Takeaways

  • Traditional self-development methods, like visualization, may not work for everyone, particularly those who are very smart, highly adaptable and resilient.
  • Instead of focusing on "who you want to become," concentrate on "how you want to feel"
  • Make lists of the feelings you want to experience regularly and the activities that evoke these emotions to create a guidepost for your life direction
  • Go for small shifts rather than giant jumps

I recently had the pleasure of interviewing Dan French, a multi-talented fast-brained human who has successfully combined careers in comedy, academia, and public speaking.

Dan is not your typical comedian. He has a brain that allows him to juggle multiple careers simultaneously. When boredom strikes, he turns to various creative and intellectual pursuits, effectively splitting his brain into two halves. This unique approach has enabled him to excel as a marketeer, comedy writer, stand-up entertainer, and rhetorician.

We talk networking, ethical persuasion, and travelling the world as a stand-up comedian on cruise ships.

Dan is also a professor in rhetoric, a powerful tool for effective messaging and communication. Despite its often negative association with sales and politics, rhetoric can be used for good - and Dan shows you how on the podcast.

He also shares his technique of using a meta-level approach to abstract issues, enabling you to remove emotions from conversations and emphasizing the importance of validating the other person's perspective.

Other topics we cover include:

  • Embracing vulnerability and authenticity
  • The impact of humour on mental health
  • The value of continuous learning and personal growth
  • The role of creativity in problem-solving
  • The significance of community and support networks
  • The impact of storytelling
  • The potential for comedy as a catalyst for social change

Should comedians be given more power or at least a more prominent role in society?

Do we need to reinstate the court jesters? I'd love to know what your thoughts are after listening to this Episode!

In this joy-full and enlightening interview, Swami Nityananda and I explore spirituality and personal growth for fast-brained humans.

There are so many gems in here that I can't even begin to summarise them - but here are four of Swami Nityananda's main teachings:

1. Embracing Joy

Joy is not something external to us; it is an innate quality within every individual. By being fully present in the moment, practising gratitude, and embracing simplicity, we can tap into the endless source of joy that resides within us.

2. Practicing Mindfulness

Mindfulness and meditation are powerful practices that allow us to quiet the mind, expand our awareness, and experience inner stillness. By incorporating meditation into our daily lives, we can enhance our well-being, connect with our true essence, and access higher levels of consciousness.

3. Self-Realization and Transformation

Recognize that at the core of our being, there is peace, joy, and unconditional love.

By letting go of limiting beliefs and attachments, we can connect with our true nature, live from a place of authenticity and joy, and experience personal transformation.

4. Ambition and Striving (this could well be my favourite part)

True ambition arises from a place of connection with our inner light and aligning our actions with our true nature.

It is not about forcing or striving excessively but rather working joyfully, wisely, and confidently from a space of pure love and inspiration.

5. The Three Knots

In yogic teachings, the three knots are identified as ignorance, desire, and action. Untying these knots involves realizing that the light we seek is already within us, releasing the belief in separateness, and understanding that our true essence is interconnected with everything. By living in alignment with these teachings, we can find guidance, focus, and inspiration to manifest our unique talents and contribute to the well-being of ourselves and the whole.

6. Interconnectedness

We are all interconnected, and our well-being is intertwined with the well-being of others and the world around us. By recognizing this interconnectedness, we can work towards thriving and succeeding while also supporting the thriving and success of others. Our individual contributions, whether in work, relationships, hobbies, or daily activities, are essential parts of a larger transformation of human structures.

These teachings offer profound insights and practical guidance for leading a purposeful, fulfilling, and spiritually aligned life - and together with the rest of the interview provides plenty of inspiration for designing a life that works with your smart mind.

You’re here because you want to change.

You know that you have so much potential and that your life can be better.

And a lot of coaching teaches you to

=> decide who you want to become

=> visualise it as often and as vividly as you can

=> start acting ‘as-if’ and live into it

=> take action for it to become a reality

Well, that is all very lovely in theory.

But to most smart humans, the question of ‘Who they want to become’ is a massive mystery.

Listen in to today's Episode to learn how to solve this conundrum and find your true Future Self.

So far we’ve covered finding your Big Thing, Impact Projects and your brain being a bit of a brat.

Today we look at the two main reasons why it’s hard to start something new:

  2. Your inner critic (a.k.a. you being a giant *sshole to yourself)

Listen to this mini-cast to learn how to work on things outside your comfort zone regardless of your brain and inner critic.

My guest this week is the amazing Maisie Hill.

I can’t even begin to list all her achievements here: she’s a master certified life coach, a menstrual cycle expert, a bestselling author and an autistic icon.

Maisie has been a massive inspiration to me in how she shows up as the CEO of her business. We all have assumptions about what running a multiple 6-figure business looks like, and Maisie boldly defies all of these!

During this first part of our interview we dive into:

  • What it was like growing up as a smart kid from a council estate
  • How bored she got studying Nursing
  • How studying acupuncture gave her the perfect blend of multi-dimensional growth: knowledge, skill, travel, etc.
  • Her experience of writing her first book, how she found the perfect collaborators, dealt with her fear of criticism, etc.
  • The importance of letting experts do their thing
  • How being autistic influences her life and relationships
  • How to keep a sense of core identity when you’re constantly growing and learning new things and morphing into new incarnations of yourself

Enjoy this first part, and if, after listening, you want to learn more about Maisie’s work go straight to her website:

where you'll find out about all the amazing things she does, including her podcast, which I highly recommend.

  • changing the discourse around wealth
  • how the way you take care of yourself even in the smallest ways speaks volumes doubt how much space you take up
  • having social interaction plans
  • no longer tolerating things that are physically uncomfortable
  • her beautifully ambitious vision for the legacy she wants to leave
  • how she keeps running her business exciting and fresh
  • finding her own way rather than listening to other people’s advice
  • the importance of economics, especially for artists and other creators

On this week's episode, I'm talking to Naomi Dunford, the founder of Ittybiz, and who I've been following and learning from since probably 2007.

Naomi, in addition to being incredibly smart, is Romani Canadian, a small business coach and internet marketing veteran.

As you'll learn during this conversation, she actually got 1000 people to quit their day jobs before she even turned 30.

She also has both autism and ADHD and has always been a digital nomad. Also: Naomi unschools her teenager and she flat-out refuses to use social media.

In this first part of the interview, we talk about

  • how being unemployable can be a great reason to start a business,
  • what she has learned about hiring people and how to manage them, especially with ADHD.
  • the Cheerios effect
  • the myth that if you build it, they will come.
  • how being rebellious and pissed off can actually help you create amazing products.
  • the recurring desire to be 'a proper business owner' and how this is always the first thing we ca do for ourselves and our business

And, as a bonus some stories about the early days of internet marketing.

Enjoy this first part!

Do you often compare yourself with others and feel you fall short?

Then this Episode is for you!

You'll learn what actually happens when you compare, and the steps you need to take to address it:

  1. Lean into the feeling
  2. Vent, express, move
  3. Attend to yourself: what do you really need here?
  4. Go resource yourself

Having a hard time noticing when you fall into compare & despair? Here are two massive hints:

Using the word 'should' or
'If only...'

When you want to compare & despair, you're getting data. Use those data not to make yourself feel bad, but instead, to make yourself feel better.

In the run-up to the One-Year Anniversary of the podcast I asked you what you'd like me to talk about - and this was one of them.

What does my week look like?
How do I make things work with my unique smart mind?

Tune in to learn all about how I've organised things to do what I'm best at, and to learn how these have evolved into my personal Rules for Living:

  1. Decide as much as you can ahead of time;
  2. Switch things up to keep your brain engaged;
  3. Batch activities as much as possible;
  4. Automate or delegate ANYTHING that you’re not great at;
  5. Figure out your own ideal conditions in which you can thrive;
  6. UNDERschedule instead of overscheduling - create lots of buffer space;
  7. Do as many of the things that light you up as you possibly can;
  8. Use simple ‘prompts’ to instantly get you in the right state, e.g. perfume, music, etc.
  9. Accept your own wants, needs and desires.

This week's Episode is a bit of a rant because I'm so mad at the harm that has been and is being done to humans with smart minds by telling them they need to change the essence of who they are in order to be successful.

In this Episode you'll learn why this is a big fat lie, what it will cost you to keep subscribing to it, and how to turn it around through:

  1. Uncovering the internalised voices
  2. Allowing the 'ouch'
  3. Asking what your need
  4. And then providing yourself with those resources

If you have children, this is even more important to be aware of because we want to break the cycle of abuse.

Do you have trouble trying to visualise your goals and really inhabiting that vision, as if it were real? Then you have a powerful clue that something is off.

In this Episode you'll learn four questions to ask when visualisation doesn't feel real:

  1. Is it YOUR goal?
  2. Do you have the visual vocabulary to see it?
  3. Is there a subconscious conflict?
  4. Does it trigger your nervous system?

And what to do when the answer to any of these is 'yes'.

You'll learn how to bridge the gap visually to create visions that work for YOU - and what to do when you get stuck.

In this fourth part we’re going to dig a bit deeper into the art of influencing your emotions by changing your thoughts and thought-patterns.

Remember, your thoughts influence your emotions - whether they’re conscious or not.

And some of these have been imprinted in your brain so many times that they have become what I call solidified stories.

They seem so obvious and true to you that you won’t even consider questioning them.

You have solidified stories about the world, about money, about other people, about yourself.

And these solidified stories are a massive contributor to your emotions (remember: thoughts and beliefs in the database co-create your emotions in the moment as I explained in the first part of this mini-course).

So in this fourth part we’re going to look at how you can

  1. Identify them
  2. Unravel them
  3. Replace them

We’re in part 3 of the mini-course on Emotional Agility - here's a quick overview:

In Part 1, we looked at the neuroscience of emotions. How they’re created - and how they shape both your experience and your future.

In Part 2, we focused on how you can create a healthy baseline for emotional wellbeing, and what you can do in the moment an emotion arises in your body.

In this third part we’re going to look at one component of all the ingredients that create emotions: your thoughts.

**I'll show you how to modify your thoughts to change your emotions.

You'll also learn when you should NOT change your thoughts to change your emotions (we don't want you to gaslight yourself), and when wanting to change your thoughts is actually a strategy to avoid doing something you'd rather not.

I believe Byron Katie's The Work is one of the best introductions to thought work, you can learn how to do that here:**https://thework.com/instruction-the-work-byron-katie/

This week, I dive into something that plagues many smart humans: being chronically under-challenged.

I explain what it means to be underchallenged - and what you can do about it.

You'll learn about the comfort, growth and terror zones, and how to identify which one you're operating in.

And I'll help you do an inventory of different areas of your life to find out where you're under-challenging yourself.

Last but not least I give you lots of ideas on how to gently start challenging yourself in constructive AND fun ways.

Your smart mind deserves to be stretched and challenged, and so do you.

So give it what it needs.

Because smart humans are extremely good at pattern recognition they are usually able to pick up on what it takes to fit in with a certain culture, group, or relationship very quickly.

It’s a very useful skill - a bit like the Matrix without the downloads.

It can also be a valuable coping mechanism when you’re growing up in an environment that may not necessarily be friendly towards outsiders.

But when you take this superpower too far it can turn into a complex - which I have dubbed the Chameleon Complex - and that’s what I look at in this podcast episode.
You'll learn how to recognise it and what to do about it - whilst still keeping the upside of this very fun and valuable skill.

Does your smart mind love to optimise?

Do you use it to find the best deals, get the most done, be insanely efficient and get the absolute most out of your trips?

Then you're probably very good at optimising for time, money, and other traditional resources.
But you may be forgetting to optimise for the most important thing in the world: YOU.

Check out this week's Episode to learn how I realised how far my over-optimisation took me away from experiencing a fun trip and what you can do to stop over-optimising, and start living.

This is number three in a series on ‘Smart People Problems’ - things that are challenging especially for humans with smart minds.

This week, I'm looking at the challenge of picking and sticking to One Thing.

How do you pick a career, a subject, a niche when, basically, there are an infinite number of things you could do?

When you're a multipotentialite, multi-passionate, 'interested in almost everything' human with a smart mind?

It all starts with a flawed assumption:

That you should pick and stick to ONE thing.

David Epstein's brilliant book 'Range: How Generalists Triumph in a Specalized World' which very successfully debunks the myth that you can't be successful if you don't focus on one thing - I share some of his research on the podcast.

You'll also learn why you have bought into this paradigm for so long - and what you can do to step out of it without ending under the bridge all alone.

So tune in for tips on how to design, pursue and tell a story about a life that works with your unique smart mind.

This is number two in a series on ‘Smart People Problems’ - because yes, it’s amazing to have a smart mind, but it also comes with a unique set of challenges.

In this second instalment, I look at how boreout affects smart humans.

You'll learn:

  1. What boreout is
  2. In what arenas it occurs
  3. Why smart people are at higher risk of boreout
  4. What you can do to cure or prevent it

As a smart human, you have different needs. Don't deny them - honour them.

Stop languishing and start living.

Welcome to a new series on what I have dubbed ‘Smart People Problems’ - challenges most smart humans have to deal with during their lives.

**One that tends to be a constant in smart peoples' lives: smart shaming.

In this week's episode you'll learn**

  • what smart shaming is (and isn't);
  • how and where it shows up - and why;
  • how you can address it.

I also talk about what leadership looks like w.r.t. smart shaming: what do you need to do to create an environment in which smart people are safe to be themselves?

Please join me in stopping the smart shaming in schools, institutions, the workplace, families - all the places where smart people are currently being discouraged to be themselves.

This week, I'm looking at the 'dirtiest' word in the English language - the word that undermines both who you are and what you do.

I'll explain

  • how and where it shows up
  • the different categories
  • why you need to stop using it - stat
  • how to do that

In this second part of a series on how language can undermine your identity and self-worth, we look at negative chatter.

You'll learn about the four different types:

  • catastrophising
  • personalising
  • polarising
  • filtering

And gets lots of tips to counteract these.

At the end of the podcast I share three powerful tools  that are guaranteed to reduce  negative self-talk and help you start building up self-trust instead.

This is the first of a series of three episodes on how language influences our well-being.

How we talk to ourselves, about ourselves and the world has a massive impact on how we feel, perceive and experience life.

**Language matters - massively.

In this first part we’ll look at how to ask questions the right way - in a way that doesn't undermine you, but actually serves you.

You'll learn**

  1. which two things you'll always want to avoid when asking yourself questions
  2. how to catch 'bad' questions
  3. how to rewrite them so they work for you rather than against you

**Do you find it hard to get started and to keep going?

You're not alone - most smart humans have trouble navigating distractions and bumps they encounter along the way.

So how do you get started and stay on track?**

You may be thinking about motivating yourself by finding your ‘why’ for example, which is absolutely wonderful, but when it comes to starting a task or project, motivation is very overrated.

In this Episode you’ll learn what generates motivation from a neurological perspective, as well as a concept called the ‘progress loop’.

You’ll get lots of tips to apply this to your work and life so you can get started on important projects you’ve been avoiding but that you really want or need to work on - whether it’s admin, writing an application letter, or creating and shipping a new product.

In this week's Episode I take a look at something that plagues a lot of smart humans: Perfect Student Syndrome.

Unmanaged 'PSS' can result in massive anxiety, exhaustion as well as boredom and feeling trapped.

You'll learn how being praised for being smart as a child can encourage you to use being the perfect student as a coping mechanism. One that works - but it comes at a high cost.

I look at how this then shows up in adulthood, as well as the steps you can take to overcome it - to become a free, frequently failing human being again.

I also look at how Perfect Student Syndrome can show up in coaching/mentoring/teaching relationships. If your client is trying to be perfect they stop showing up as their true selves - and you both lose.

I came down with Covid this week, so instead of a regular Episode, I decided to interview myself.

Asking yourself great questions is an awesome tool which I recommend to a lot of clients: it can really help you reconnect with things that are important to you, achievements you've brushed away as flukes, things that bring you joy as well as inner wisdom that you may not always have access too.

So don't just listen to me with my raspy Covid voice - if you want to get to know yourself better and to (re)connect with your purpose, start asking your own questions.

If you have the budget you can even consider hiring someone to interview you - I can guarantee that it will give you so many ideas to create content about, as well as massively increase your self-appreciation.

As always, you can find the Episode Transcript on my website, coachkramer.org.

On this week's podcast I look at the dark and harmful side of the whole 'self-improvement' concept.

I explain how it can create a very vicious cycle that undermines your self-worth, self-trust and self-confidence.

I show you what is keeping you stuck there, and how to break out of it, so you can start loving yourself where you're at.

Whenever you set goals or make plans, do it not from a desire to 'fix' or 'improve' yourself.
Those are the worst reasons because they simply reinforce to your brain that you're broken.

I explain how to set goals in a different, much more compassionate and fun way, at the end of the podcast - and I invited you to also (re)visit Episode 18, which is all about this process of goal setting.

  4. Whether everyone procrastinates
  5. Why smart humans have a higher risk of procrastination

This week I look at something that is often stigmatised: smart people's need to be alone.

Society tends to frown upon this - especially if you're a woman - and you may have internalised this and feel guilty about your desire to spend time on your own.

In this Episode I cover:

  • How and why the desire to be alone is often stigmatised;
  • why smart people often need more alone time;
  • how to figure out whether you’re avoiding social contact because of other issues, or just genuinely need alone time;
  • how to effectively communicate your need for alone time and organise it.

It's time to start owning your desire to be alone so you can recharge and do deep work - and to help others do the same!

In this follow-up to last week's Episode on Goal Setting, I take you to the three ingredients that are usually missing when people set goals:

  1. Feelings
  2. Obstacles
  3. Small steps

In this Episode, you'll learn

  • how to tap into your feelings to check whether you're setting the right goal
  • how to start feeling into your goal and realising it in your life on a daily basis
  • how to find and plan for obstacles
  • why it's important to break it down into small, doable chunks

Together with Episode 17, this gives you a complete recipe for goal setting - now it's up to you. Set those goals and go after them - with LOVE rather than self-hatred.

In this week's episode, I share a technique that you can use to safely feel and process the emotions you've been trying to avoid.

We all do it - whether we use food, alcohol, social media, shopping, overworking, exercise, etc. We all try to avoid uncomfortable emotions.

But if we're willing to feel them instead, to move through them, so much freedom is available to us on the other side.

I explain all the steps for you to try this on your own, so you can start experiencing what it is like to feel better and what it is like to be at home with yourself.

In this second Episode on Black and White thinking I dive into three tools that can help you counter it. If you haven't listened to the previous Episode do check that out first, because will refer back to several concepts I explain there.

The tools I introduce are:

  1. Modifying your language
  2. Thought diffusion
  3. Breaking things up

I give you lots of examples on how to use these and apply them to your own black and white thinking.

They are all surprisingly simple yet incredibly effective - so give them a try and let me know how it goes!

This week I dive into something that plagues all of us: Black and White thinking.

In this first part, I explain what it is, why we do it, and how it can start sabotaging our lives when it isn't kept in check.

I talk about how it can affect our thinking about our identity, take us from a growth into a fixed mindset, and cause perfectionist paralysis, amongst many other things.

At the end of the Episode I give you some tools and suggestions on how to find those pesky black and white thoughts that colour our perception - because it can be quite hard to catch them.

For this Episode I was inspired by a conversation I had with the fabulous Maisie Hill about what it’s like to be autistic. Do check it out on her wonderful podcast!  Our conversation is  spread out over two episodes: Episode 73 and Episode 74.

In our discussion, we share that one of the reasons we are able to thrive is that we both have designed a life that works with our smart, neurodivergent minds.

Instead of making ourselves and our specific needs wrong, we have (and still are) turning things around. We are designing our life experience to work WITH us, rather than against us.

So on this episode of Managing the Smart Mind I am going to talk about how you can do that too.

It all starts with clearing out the voices in your head that make you wrong for being who you are...

Becoming aware of them, seeing them for what they are, and then letting them go.

A lot of smart humans experience frustration.

Whether it's at work, in daily interactions with other humans, or about the way way organise things on this planet - both at a macro and a micro level.

In this week's podcast I dive into frustration, how it can lead to stress (and eventually burnout), and how it disempowers us.

But you can also use it as a fuel for positive change - in fact, most of my crazy career has been driven by frustration.
Tune in to listen how you can change your thinking about frustration, and use it as a force for good.Looking for a transcript, show notes or a downloadable version of this episode?

This week is all about celebrations, and why they are massively important to your smart mind.

You've probably heard this before: in order to gain confidence, you need to become your own cheerleader.

But you may find that difficult, awkward, or even painful.

In this episode I give you plenty of leverage to start making the effort, as well as a fresh perspective on the whole 'celebration' thing.

You do not need to channel your inner Tony Robbins.

You just need to channel your most loving, kindest, self - whatever that may look like.

Tune in to learn how you can start celebrating in a way that works for you, so you can increase your confidence and, at least as important, joy.

In this second episode on decision making, I look at the flawed assumptions underneath our thoughts about making decisions.

Basically: there is no such thing as the 'best' or the 'right' decision - and the sooner you realise that the better.

What you can do, is actually decide to make your decisions 'right'.

How? That's what I explain in the second half of this episode.

This week we’re diving into something my clients ask about all the time: decision making. Because this is such a big topic I’ve spread it out over two episodes.

In this episode, I’ll explain how your smart mind actually makes it extra HARD for you to make decisions.

I’ll show you all the smart ways in which it tries to block you from making decisions - and how to fix that.

And in the next episode I’ll tell you how to make sure whether you made the right decision, and teach how to get better at decision-making.

In this Episode I talk about something that plagues most humans with smart minds, whether they realise it or not: Gifted Guilt.

The idea that because you have been gifted this amazing brain, all these talents, you better go and do something insanely useful.

This line of thought, however noble it may sound, leads to a miserable life.

Stop buying into it, and rather than feel guilty, ask yourself what you WANT to do with this one, wild, precious life.

In this episode I talk about how smart people can stay in their comfort zone even though on the outside it looks like they’re achieving amazing growth.

When everyone gives you a standing ovation if you’re just ‘winging it’ it can become a habit to do just that, score a quick dopamine hit, move on to the next thing.

In the long run this sets you up for massive disillusion, because you never get to experience real growth.

You have to start doing things that are hard for YOU - and they may look very different than you think.

I give examples of how and where it can show up, and how you stop doing it.

No, it's not easy - but trust me: living your life out of integrity is much, much harder in the long run.

In this episode I look at one of the biggest reasons why being smart isn't a guarantee for an easy, incredibly successful, incredibly instagrammable life. Spoiler alert: your brain, smart though it may be, is incredibly outdated hardware that runs programming more suitable for times with tigers.

So it's time to give it an update - I'll explain how in this episode.
