Hey Boss Moms! I am Dr. Lauren, CEO and founder of Think Dyslexia. I’ve been a special educator for over a decade working with elementary and secondary students ranging from specialized private schools to public schools to non-profits and working as a learning specialist coaching teachers, students, and parents through their child’s special education journey. From my experience as an Orton-Gillingham trained and certified practitioner and a dyslexia specialist, I have seen how undiagnosed (or even diagnosed) dyslexia can run through a family with little to no resources. Although I am NOT dyslexic, I did struggle in school with undiagnosed ADHD and anxiety and truly understand the struggles, pain, and trauma students face when they’re misunderstood or don’t get the support they truly need to thrive NOT survive.Understanding and attacking dyslexia and other language based learning differences isn't just about interventions and school partnership. Yes, those certainly matter but there is SO much below the surface for the child and family. It’s a five pronged approach: Parental Support, School Systems, Special Education Process, Understanding the Disability, and Social Emotional Education. Because I’m a mom, I am focusing on moms to become the BOSS of their child’s dyslexia journey.
