1. Get Your Storytelling Basics Down
Most stories have a clear introduction, middle, and conclusion. This structure makes the story straightforward and easy to follow.
Also, your story must focus on your prospect’s journey. Create your pitch using the following as your guide:
2. Determine the Takeaway
Knowing your endgame will make building out the framework for the story easier.
What’s the key takeaway you want the listener to get after you finish your story?
Or, why should your customer care?
(REMEMBER – 1 Takeaway per story)
An answer might go like this: The prospective customer will care because, by the end of the story, they’ll see how our product will improve their closing speed.
3. Get Your Prospect’s Attention (and Hold It)
Stories must be captivating and informative. Put yourself in the listener’s shoes and ask yourself if this is a story you’d want to hear.
Use familiar (not-boring) phrases, and keep the language short and punchy.
When you’re telling a story, you need to remove any complications or barriers that will prevent prospects from understanding the overall objective: to sell your product!
4. Practice Your Story Out Loud
Whether you’re sending an email or doing, you must read your story out loud — practice it — to ensure it feels natural for you and sounds authentic to your listener.
Practice it as if you’re talking to your target prospect. That way, you’ll pick up on awkward language that can make your pitch seem robotic.
The more you practice, the more confident you’ll sound — even when pitching your most challenging prospects.

The 5 steps of successfully using the law of attraction are:
1. Clearly define what you want
No one gets to where they want to go if they don’t have a clear destination in mind. The important thing is not “how” you’ll get there, but that there IS a there to get to.
2. Be your own hero, not the victim
I’ve said once and I’ll say it again. I am NOT your hero, you are! You are the hero in your MLM and life, which means that you’re responsible for how you react and act in every situation. Also you cannot play a victim, just take ownership and make a change for the benefit of your future self!
3. Understand that like attracts like
We all have heard the phrase “misery loves company”. It’s the same here, if you’re vibrating at a higher frequency and are happy, then other happy people will want to be around you. Likewise with bad moods and negativity. But it is also worth mentioning that if you’re negative, happy people will stay away from you no matter how good your pitch is!
4. Have faith that your success will happen
Having faith doesn’t necessarily mean being religious, but what it does mean is having an unshakable belief. In this case you have to believe in yourself and that what you’re doing will have a great outcome! If you think that the universe is out to get you, then it definitely is.
5. Take action!
Believing in yourself, having goals, being around the right people, and even thinking positive thoughts is not enough to get you to your goals. Thoughts alone don’t move the needle, but taking that first or 100th step does. Take action!

Janet and I discussed many things, but my favorite piece was her description of SMART Goals and how they can be better defined.
What are SMART goals? The SMART in SMART goals stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-Bound. Defining these parameters as they pertain to your goal helps ensure that your objectives are attainable within a certain time frame

How you take action is not important. Sounds backwards right? But what you need to understand is yourself and your habits first. Once you figure out why, when, and how you procrastinate you can start taking action. So what do I mean about the "how you take action" is not important, well simply taking action is going to move you forward.
Going to all the seminars, reading the books, watching the videos, will not move you any closer to what you want. Sure it gives you some guidance and direction, but it isn't actual movement.
Oftentimes, we get stuck in a perpetual loop of procrastination. We feel like we are being productive by cleaning the house, going to the gym, or doing busy work. But sometimes we need to just put our nose to the grindstone and accomplish the goal we set for ourselves.

The best advice that I can give right now is:
1 - Set your goal and start with the end in mind
2 - Break down the most important steps on how you'll accomplish that goal and do those first
3 - Put yourself in a distraction free area. No phone, tv, friends, family, just you and the work you need to get done!

The most important reason to launch your first virtual event is because it is an incredibly effective way to to build a list of followers and sell your products.
The idea of virtual events is to teach/sell one to many instead of 1 vs. 1.
The book I mentioned was "The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A F***" By Mark Manson
https://markmanson.net/not-giving-a-fuck
There are many platforms to choose from when it comes to setting up a virtual event.
After you decide on the platform, you then need to figure out what you're actually going to talk about.
- This context is whatever you want to educate your market on
As you market your live event, remember to try some of these tips:
Structure your 3 day event (and yes 3 days seems to be the best model)

The top leaders in any industry are the best at mastering their time effectively and creating results. Hacking your time in a way to master your time like the leaders in the industry is the only way you can get your time back. Because time is the one asset we will run out of and never get back!
Ask yourself: if I could choose one thing on the list, which would be the most important? Or which tasks would give me the most return on my investment of time?
Once you have planned and prioritized, you have to perform! This means that you have to concentrate on one task until it is 100% complete! You have to complete it with no distraction or diversion at all.
After everything is said and done, take care of yourself! Make a point to take a walk, nap, exercise, read a book, or anything that relaxes your mind and body. That way you can give yourself completely the next time you have to go above and beyond for work that you want to do!

I was listening to Tai Lopez and just soaking up the goodness of the speakers that he brings on his podcast. At one point I was inspired to look into Jay Abraham and Dan Kennedy because of their marketing prowess.
So the truth is, while there are hundreds of tactics and strategies you can try, they’re only going help grow your business if they can successfully do one of three things:
That’s it. There’s no 4th or 5th option. If you’re not doing one of these three things, you’re not going to grow very fast.
While you're in the growth stage, only focus on ONE of the 3 principles at a time to maximize results.

After listening to the "Art of Charm" Podcast with their guest speaker James Nestor talk about breathing, I was totally entranced in the idea of breathing better. It really isn't complicated, but breathing through your nose instead of your mouth improves a multitude of things in your body. From your sleep, anxiety, focus, mental alertness, mood, and other physical and metaphysical aspects! Everyone needs an attractive character in their business. If you are the face of your organization, then you will need to be able to be relatable with your audience. How you engage with your audience and keep their attention will determine your success in business.
The four Identities of an attractive character are:
1 - The Leader
Lead people from one place to another. Has "been there, done that" and overcame the challenges and problems so you don't have to.
2 - The Adventurer/Crusader
Curious type. Doesn't have all of the answers. Brings back gold nuggets and shares them with their followers. A more forgiving leader.
3 - The Reporter/Evangelist
Detective like role. Uncover truths through interviews. Investigates something, comes back and shares the info with following.
4 - Reluctant Hero
Doesn't like spotlight, but has a moral obligation to help. Think Frodo Baggins or Harry Potter, being forced into a hero roll because of extenuating circumstances.

The four principles/elements of an attractive character are:
1 - Backstory (Origin story)
Why would someone want to follow you in the first place? Why are you interesting? What have you accomplished and where have you started?
2 - Parables
Storytelling. If you tell stories about princples that you want to teach, they will be remembered more easily.
3 - Character Flaws
Be open and vunerable. If you're perfect, people won't be able to relate to you
4 - Polarity
Pick a hill you're willing to die on and stick to your guns. (As long as you're not preaching negativity)

There are 3 dark secrets that can set you up for success in any publishing venture. If you do them wrong they will make your journey longer. So remember: 1. Know your target market 2. Master 1 skill at a time 3. Learn for 2 people
The two best ways to create and produce content when you're over whelmed with life, depressed, or just want to take a break and go on vacation are batch creating content and doing interviews. If you produce more episodes in a month than you publish, you have "back ups" to use whenever you need them. It is the same with interviews, when you interview other influencers and feature them on your show, you keep the recording and can publish that episode whenever you want. This keeps you from having to create all of the content on your own.
Remember you can't move a parked car though, you have to get moving and do something before you can make any adjustments.

There are right ways and wrong ways when bringing someone into your downline. Are you still begging and pleading or are you actually trying to find someone that actually wants to be in Network Marketing?

Whenever you jump into something new it sucks because it is hard. Not because what you're doing is actually difficult, but because it is new! Pushing through the growing pains of whatever you're trying to accomplish will set you up for the next step and create new challenges for your life.
“No matter what you do in the beginning, you're going to suck because you suck and you'll get better, and you'll eventually suck a little bit less and a little bit less, and eventually you'll suck so little that you'll actually be good at it.” - Garrett White
Telling stories are how you incite emotion and get people to see how you see. If you tell your experience about anything you will be talking to a brick wall. We as humans don't like being word vomited with a bunch of technobabble. So how you avoid awkward situations is by speaking in stories.

What does a New Year's Resolution mean to you? It's different for everyone, but for most it means TEMPORARY ACTION. As sad as it is, most people give up right when they are starting to have great change in their life because that's when it gets difficult. There is no growth without pain, so don't give up and push through the suck because pain is temporary!

Hey, Terry Brookhart, here again, story time. So it's interesting how like attracts like. I've been doing this podcasting thing for about a month now. This will be the 11th episode or something like that. And it's interesting how when you put content out and you're trying to make something happen, people will gravity you that are doing the same thing. And I went to the MLM. Download the modern downline. This one was the model now line out in Boise, Idaho, back in August and met some really cool people. Learned a lot at the convention or the little group session was really awesome.
I enjoyed it a lot. But the Rocio, who was a an attendant there, she went and she was buying her own things, actually reached out to me a few weeks or about a week ago to about two weeks ago now.
And we're putting together something at the end of December before the end of the year, which is really cool. It's basically a course that is a day sprint is lead for life, how it leads to your business. And it's interesting because I had no intention or plan to do a three day sprint.
And it's really cool that when somebody else is pushing you, you light a fire nearby button. You get to keep going more than what you would do by yourself. And it's as cool because we actually just talked about this last night about the fact that the concept of success, zombies, people that go to these conventions are they've read the books or they do all the right things, but don't take action. For the first time ever, I now finally made a little bit of money online and is really cool in terms of a feeling because that validates what I've been doing.
And I'm excited because I'm proving the concept that of what I'm doing and sharing with you. It works. And like I said, a three day sprint is it's a three day core, three days of how to generate leads, the three different modules, basically.
So one of them is the concept of differentiating marketing versus just content creation, because content creation as a whole is where you just put out content, whether it's video blogging, Facebook posts, things like that just with no agenda or no direct, how should I say direction of where you want someone to go?
So when someone enters your funnel or your website or whatever you have, however, you want to exchange your time and energy for money. If you're just putting information out in a direction without having somebody go through steps, that is, content marketing is a very specific tool of content.
It's content with a purpose because you want something you want an end result, whether it's to collect money, whether it's to get people to sign up or donate to a charity. Whatever it is, marketing is content with a purpose.
The in addition to that, I think it's the first day which is going to be really awesome. The second day is actually a day and I'm going to be teaching all about podcasting like different kinds of platforms to put it on how to actually start a podcast from start from like nothing, absolutely nothing to putting some episodes out there into the interwebs. Also, there is we're doing a little bit of like Instagram, Facebook kind of like tips and tricks, but the third one is YouTube. So YouTube and podcasting are definitely different because they're two different platforms. One is audio based and it attracts a certain type of audience. And the other one is video based, i.e. this. So it's a little bit different, and we're going to go over the core principles of how to actually use each platform and how to grow an audience.
It's really interesting to see how from nothing you can create something. It's just you just have to be constructive with what you're saying. Now it's this is exciting because it's the 27th to the 29th. So right before the end of the year, and we thought about it for a while, why we would want to do it before the end of the year. Well, if you think about it, a lot of people really like the concept of I'm going to start on January first, these New Year's resolutions, but how many people at the gym, for example, how many who do you say, you know, have said, Hey, I'm going to go work out,
I'm going to go get lose 15 pounds or I'm going to do this. I'm going to quit drinking and quit smoking. And they're good for a week or a month, maybe even maybe even two or three months. But then we get back on the bandwagon.
It's the same basic concept. So if you don't follow through and you don't keep up, you're not going, have anything. So we start this before the end of the year to show people and to teach that once you hit that New Year's resolution, then you can hit the ground running and go, you don't have to start at zero. You don't have a week. Until the deadline to start, you can prep yourself and do what's necessary beforehand, especially if you like think of it like for learning how to market. Yes, if you've been reading or listening to the podcast or reading blogs or watching certain videos and how to actually build funnels and things like that.
That's great. But you have to do something and you don't have to wake to a certain date or period of time to actually do that thing. You can click the create videos or you can create content on how you want to actually deliver it.
But starting now, because you can't take the second step or third step until you take the first. But getting off my soapbox here for a second, I do actually have a plan for 2020 to a lot of things are going to happen in February.
I'm launching my first solo product. I'm going to be done for you, for one kind of thing. I'm putting that out there. A launch that I'm finishing my funnel before the end of the year, but I'm going to actually launch the first in January.
So that way I can start marketing and telling people about it via Facebook, Instagram page ads, things like that just to get some eyeballs to it because it's going to be a really good piece that is going to help a lot of people move at a faster pace.
Because how do you measure success is time and money time. It moves at a very steady pace and you can invest time and it's time consuming, but you can invest all the time in the world. But money moves much faster than time itself, so if you can put money into a project is going to grow and accelerate much faster than you just promoting by yourself individually. Yeah, I'm really excited. It's a lot of things are actually going on in the first quarter. I'm trying to get myself a a launch calendar. So that way I can actually put things out there on like a big wall to get like an eight foot by four foot one.
With like all twelve months and just mark each day with a sharpie is going to be cool. I'm excited for it. But yeah, anyway, that's pretty much it. I just wanted to say that if you're curious about the three day sprint that I'm putting together with Photoshop that is at Leeds for life sprint dot com and only
get in the video here and only get over and podcast as well, but it's going to be really cool. It's the, of course itself is totally free, not charging anything. There is a VIP upgrade for the recordings and things like that, plus a few extra bonuses, but the course itself is just a teaching.
Get some good feedback. Hopefully we get to see you guys over there. I'm excited. And until then, I will see you in the next video.
https://leadsforlifesprint.com/lets-go
What's going on, everyone? Terry Brookhart here, back with another episode of the Emblem Hero Radio. I'm out walking around. It's like 9:00 at night in Charlotte. It rained, so it's all foggy, humid, damp, dank. It's a little heavy like an atmosphere, if that makes sense.
I know around this time of year, a lot of people go through like seasonal depression because of daylight savings time or whatnot. So days are shorter, gets brighter earlier in the day, but it gets dark, super fast. I think it's like some.
It's down here, like at 5-5:30 ish Eastern Standard Time. So definitely encourages, encourages naps. And I myself am on. I'm not going to walk too fast because I don't want to be out of breath while recording this, but I've been thinking about the direction I want to take the podcast and the direction I want to go in my own personal life. And right now, I'm in the process of actually setting up a lot of appointment for interviews. So that way different audiences can cross-pollinate. I'm putting a lot of a lot of energy in content creation for myself because I have a couple of weeks.
I'm actually doing a collaboration with a friend of mine with, I think is going to be a three day event, and we're going to basically go through all like different styles of publishing and how to create an audience and what are some good practices and stuff like that.
And I'm excited for that. And it's really what I want to do. I want to encourage and teach people how to use systems to grow, manage and recruit people within their deadline. And this is something that you can do in MLM affiliate marketing.
Internet marketing as a whole. This whole concept of using funnels to create systems that automate and save you time. It's like the whole adage like door to door sales I've done that will be to be door to door and my message every time I went in and I pitched, it was the same scripted phrases, but it was literally me pitching every single time to whether it's the decision maker or just someone at the front door. But it's it was always me by myself going out one by one by one talking to these people. And that's what I really did not enjoy it.
It wasn't fun in any way. So that's why funnels give me the opportunity to speak to one too many. So instead of me doing it one by one handling everybody's objections, I'm finding out the qualified buyers. People are even interested in what I had to sell.
I get to create content on Facebook, Instagram, the podcast and using the internet as a leveraging tool gives me the opportunity to speak to a lot of people at once. And for that, I'm super grateful because it saves me a ton of time.
But for me, initially when I first started this journey of podcasting and I've only been doing it for a little while now, but I didn't have a following and I didn't have. Anybody knew me and I hate the phrase if you build it, they will come, because that is certainly not the case.
I have a completed sales funnel. I have several completed sales funnels out there and like one of them, is an operational flight that actually has some aura or AI. For me, the return on investment, so people actually see it and go to it and go through it, which is cool.
But I want to say that wherever you are in your entrepreneurial journey, when you take that first step, it is terrifying, especially when you are your first time publishing. I get it. I have. I've had, I think, like eight episode recorded before I even tried to launch the podcast.
I rerecorded a few of them just for a different style content. But I mean, the point is like I had 50 or eat like 15 minute long episodes prerecorded for like a year before I even get out. There is the courage to take a step forward and be risky because whenever you first do something, it's going to
be difficult because it's new. It's not hard because it's hard. It's hard because you're learning a new skill set. You have to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. And that was one of the hardest lessons that I had to learn.
Just like take the step and take the good and the bad with it. Because unfortunately, whatever you want to do in life, there is pushback, there is there will be people that will critique, criticize, talk negatively, all kinds of garbage about what you're doing, where you'll do it, you'll lose friends, you'll gain friends.
But there are people that will gravitate toward you and the message that you're speaking and I like that the most because it helped me realize what I truly value and what I want to actually accomplish with my life.
I don't want to settle for something small because that's what I'm told to do. I want to actually have a lot more because not that I deserve it, but I want to create it. I want I want to create something that I can be genuinely proud of and actually help people.
I don't necessarily mean that I have found my way right now, but I have a direction I want to go. And that is the internet marketing space network marketing sales funnel that kind of direction because there's so much out there that can be improved upon.
I hate talking to people one on one. I like talking to people individually. If it's more of like a coaching or a mentorship style communication, just I don't like begging people to make a decision. And that might reflect on my ability to sell.
But I mean, I've been in sales for now six years, and I've won a few different awards at my company, in different competitions. So I'd like to think that at least I have an understanding of how to sell, what actually works, how to read a room and cater to the audience that I'm speaking towards.
But the same thing can be done again online, and that's what I love about the internet as a whole. But I know this is getting into kind of a rant episode. But the key takeaway that I want to I want to say today is just do it, get out there, create something because a car cannot turn if it's sitting. Still, only a moving vehicle can change direction. So put yourself out there. Be vulnerable for a little bit, get some feedback and keep pushing. Because once you do that, that second step after you get uncomfortable for the very first time, it's easier and some things will be harder than others.
But what I have learned and continuing to learn is being vulnerable but being authentic so people will critique me and have and will continue to do so. And it is what it is, but I am on a journey to find people like me that are fed up with all the systems that we were taught.
That would be the only way how what we do works when there is obviously a tool that can be used to make that our lives a lot easier. So, yeah, get up there. It's a big and scary world out there, but the louder you are about what you want and you keep pushing towards that, you're going
to find people like you. And when you find people like you, it helps you get what you want to achieve a lot faster if you want to go farther, if you want to go far, go together. I want to go fast, go alone.
But if you're alone, you're only going to get so far. If you as a team, you'll go a lot farther because you can use other people's strengths to balance your weaknesses. So, yeah, I hope this this is a this was a little bit more of an uplifting episode.
I want to at least offer the MLM Hero Radio Masterclass for your online training. If you're interested in that. I literally have a five day course that I go through and I teach the new principles and that is at the MLM Hero dot com for slash radio.
And all you have to do is literally create a free account, you know, create a free member's area for you. And there's a couple of different bonuses that I am putting in there for everyone that does sign up.
And the five day course, it'll drip out over five days. So when you first create your account, you get the first day and then 24 hours after you get the second day, so on and so forth. But there are key perks and benefits there for you to train your deadline to create how to create your own voice, how to create a system that duplicates your time. So that way, you don't have to do it individually. Yeah, if you want the MLM Hero Master Class, go to https://www.themlmhero.com/radio
In the next episode, I actually want to talk about the four chemicals that cause buying decisions. I give you a hint the acronym is dope to see how many of you get that anyway. As always, like the video?
Subscribe, comment. Give me some feedback for what you want to hear and I will see you in the next episode.
Hey, Terry Broohart, right here again with another episode of the MLM Hero Radio, which I hope you guys are staying warm, it's getting chilly out there. It's December and it's now finally 45 degrees out here in Charlotte. It's freezing.
I feel like a pansy because it's so cold. I'm from Pennsylvania and you know, you would think with as much snow and winter that we get up there for 19 years of my life. I would be used to it at a time that I remember actually shoveling snow in a T-shirt and shorts.
I don't know if I was wearing flip flops, but I would like to think that I was just because, you know, it is what it is. But anyway, I did want to actually bring up a point. So I created the MLM Hero radio and the podcast The Brand to help other network marketers shave off years of practice with the stuff that I've learned that I'm actually implementing in my own downline and in my own business, I'm trying to help. The whole goal was to help other people get to where they want to go faster, because if it took me five years and it might take you two months, I don't know.
But the whole goal is to speed up the process because there's a lot of great information out there. I'm just consolidating it and putting it out there with my own spin. That said, the MLM Hero Radio is a collective group, and I am not the hero in the MLM hero you are.
I'm not responsible for anybody else's success other than my own. And I won't want anybody else's success more than you. You should want your own success in business, in life and health. Love, relationships, everything. It's up to you as an individual.
I am not the hero and I am not the responsible one for you getting where you want to go. I'm responsible for myself. That said, when it comes to down my management and things like that. Honestly speaking, you should not.
And nothing against these people, and I'm not trying to talk poorly about specific people. But you know, the ones that are actual work, the ones that are like, OK, now what do I do when you first join them in?
I bring them in. How do I build funnels? Or what is this a pyramid scheme? You want to avoid the people that ask dumb questions because unfortunately, there are some people out there that need a little hand-holding and there's nothing wrong with that.
I even work with I specifically work with beginners. However, I like the term educated beginner because if you take it upon yourself to learn the material and to go out there and actually figure out how to implement what you want to do your legs above everybody else, you're not chasing a silver bullet.
Now, maybe you did. I mean, I did that for a long time, but you're not chasing a silver bullet where you're expecting to find a cash cow and get rich quick. There is get rich, but oftentimes it's not get rich overnight unless you hit the lottery or something crazy like that.
But the whole point is you have to take responsibility in your own life and you have to be the one to one to win. If you want to be complacent, that's all on you. Your success, your failure and your complacency is dependent on you, the individuals.
You cannot expect other people to be responsible for you. We're not children anymore. We're adults. We had to do adult things that adults do. And I never said that adult things always fun. But being an adult implies that you have certain responsibilities, especially personal responsibility and ownership.
You have to own if you're going to say you're going to do something. Then you have to hold yourself accountable. You can have accountability partners and you can have mentors, and I am 100% suggesting. I suggest journaling, keeping your thoughts focused and geared towards what you want to achieve.
There's nothing wrong with using tools. However, you cannot blame your success or failure on the tools themselves. It is up to you, the individual. You are your own hero. All of that to say you are your own hero within the MLM Hero Tribe.
You have to be the superhero that saved yourself from certain destruction, if you will, and in a comic sense, I suppose. But it's all. It's all geared towards who you want in your domain, who you want to be.
You have to define that. And then you have to have boundaries for yourself, be responsible, take extreme ownership and then implement it takes action. You can have all the resources you can read, all the blogs, listen to all the audio books, go to the seminars.
But then the next step is implementation, asking me if I can guarantee you success in anything in life, especially MLM or business in general, is a huge no-no. I know I'm not going to take your responsibility and say, I'm going to guarantee you that you're going to win.
That's up to you, and I'll encourage you and I'll support you, and I'll even give you some tools to make your life easier. Hence, you know, the whole community, me giving away funnels and stuff. But it does boil down to you have to do the work.
It's not my fault if you fail. If I give you the tools, you can't see that the tools didn't work because they do the work for a lot of people. They work for me. They work for people that go and expect to suck in the beginning to fail a little bit.
You have to fail your way forward. Awesome quote, though, by the way, I don't know who said that, but fail your way forward. But yet you have to take responsibility, take ownership and then do it. And all that to say, when you bring somebody into your downline, they are how you do that is directly going to dictate what they do. So if you bring somebody in and you constantly handhold and you beg them to join, you're going to have to continuously handhold and beg them to do any kind of work within your deadline. So they're going to be the people that are project people.
And again, not poking fun at the people out there that are project people. But I myself control who I allow in my downline because I want to control who I'm spending my time with because there are people that are energy suckers and then their energy suppliers, like, I like being around high energy people personally, and I like
to be around educated people in general like doesn't necessarily have to be business. I just there are certain types of people that I allow in my life. And then there are certain people that I don't allow my life, people that are narcissistic or complaining or or constantly negative.
I try to filter those out as best as I can. Friends or family, because if it's a cycle of down negative, spiraling stuff. I don't want to be a part of it because it's distracting me from what I want to do, accomplish or really anything.
It just it just hinders me from going forward. And I know that it's a little bit for me, frustrating, especially when I want to help people. But there's only so much that I can do. I can just give you the tools and point you in a direction.
But you're the one that has to take the steps forward and run towards what you want. So, yeah, I am not your hero. I never intended to be, and I don't want to be. I want you to be your own hero.
I'm my own hero. But you are your own hero within the MLM Hero Tribe community. I need to think of a better word. We're not mavericks. Maybe I don't know. But though the whole point is really be your own hero, take extreme ownership and do what you need to do to have success in your life.
I know this is kind of a soapbox episode, and I apologize for it and I'm doing video now because, as you know, I think YouTube has a huge platform to create a lot of following. Also, I'm going to have to get a whiteboard and draw out some stuff because there's a few things that I'm trying to do
. So I'm also going to be working in two weeks, the last week of December with a fellow network marketer, and we're going to actually. Core principles of publishing. I'm going to offer podcast if she's going to do more Instagram.
But I look out for that. And also in February, I am personally launching a done for you funnel with everything built out. That's a little that's a basically an offer that I'm creating, too. It's basically a plug and play turnkey.
Yeah, that's the word turnkey business, and it's a turnkey funnel for anyone that wants to purchase it. So look out for that. I'm going to send out some emails whenever I have things in the works. So I'm kind of excited for that and I'm going to interview a few people, some top members and just internet marketers in general, because there's a lot of really cool information out there, and I want to share that with you guys. But I would do and I'm going to. I have three interviews lined up right now, and they should come out before the end of December.
I want to have the first one launched and then in January have to have several different interviews. But yeah, thank you guys. Like, subscribe, ask questions. Give me some feedback. So that way I know what kind of content you're looking for and what which areas of MLM on the internet that I can help you with till next time. Take it easy.
Hey everyone, I hope you've been enjoying the holidays! I went up to PA to visit my family for Thanksgiving so that was fun.
This episode is more of an update for the things that I have going on in the next few weeks and months.
I'll be interviewing several influencers, doing live training on Facebook, doing more YouTube training, and launching a DONE FOR YOU product in February.
As always if you want free training and extra bonuses go to https://www.themlmhero.com/radio
Hero, it's Terry Brookhart, and welcome back to the MLM Hero Radio. It's like 6:45 ish in the morning and I'm getting ready to go to the gym, but I'm like, Wait, I got an idea, so I guess I had a great dream and I'm going to share it with you guys.
If you're anything like me, then you know that MLMs can be amazing business opportunities. But the major issue is, what do you do if you don't want to bug family members and friends? How do we recruit the best players into your downline?
Well, maybe it's a little less like a dream. But anyway, the point being is, I thought popped in my head.
I'm like, OK, I'm glad I didn't take my pre-workout because I hate the pre-workout itching. You know what I'm talking about? If you if you take like C4 or any of the name brand of those pre workouts, if you take too much on an empty stomach and you don't actually go work out within like the 20-30 minute timeframe and your skin gets itchy and your face burns a little bit. Yeah. Now, glad I didn't do that yet. Anyway, so today I actually had an idea and it reminded me of something that I read in dotcom secrets.
But it's kind of how you drive traffic or where you where you look for. So the biggest thing that is in any industry, any business we drive or we look for lead, we need leads without leads. There is no business without sales to take care of those leads.
There's no exchange of money. There's no exchange of products, goods and services and businesses die. So that said, the number one thing is, how do you get leads? Same thing with MLM. Once you run out of your warm market, your family and friends, right?
Who do you go talk to? Well, this whole concept dawned on me about niches or congregations or places on the internet where people gather. I love publishing like YouTube. I podcast, obviously and other ways to drive organic traffic, but more than that.
Just to give you guys some ideas. So I used to be a nerd. I still kind of am in a variety of different ways. But when I was in high school, I played Magic The Gathering. If you don't know what that is, it's kind of hard.
It's a card game that is much better than you, you know, and I'm way biased because MTG is phenomenal. Basically, it's you're fighting monsters, using many cards to bring them out and without going it away, too much technobabble.
It's a lot of fun and it's like a puzzle card game. Anyway, every day, me and my group of five friends would sit down and we would play at lunch. Sometimes we play in class, but it was our niche and we did get made fun of a little bit throughout our high school and it is what it is. But if I had a podcast to service that would potentially serve as someone that plays cards, it doesn't necessarily have to be magic gathering, but cards in general, such as a playing uno or poker or anything that would service card players.
I would search in the red ocean of that market. To find out what kind of card users would be interested and then find my niche and if I had something that would directly affect, let's see the magic, the gathering card players.
I could run either ads or posts and forums, blogs and driver organic traffic. You can do both paid and free, but you can drop your paid advertising or your funnel towards your MLM, into your product or service, into that that area and you can drive free traffic.
And these congregations are really just any area on the internet where people get together and they talk about a common topic and to think congregation, I mean, as church, every Sunday, people go to church to pray if you're Christian, Catholic, or anything.
But the thing is, when you're creating your paid prospecting funnel, the thing that you're going to start generating some sort of income to drive ads, it's important to create your offer, figure out the bait you want to use.
For that particular offer, such as whether it's a free course or whatever you happen to decide on. But if you service in a market and we can take fitness, for example, as well. So I'm I know that there's a lot in the health and wellness area.
But if I'm talking to someone that wants to intermittent fast and that's the niche market that I'm going to target for, let's say I have a weight loss supplement. I'm going to find the people that want to either intermittent fast or 24 to 48 hour fast.
And I'm specifically going to target those groups and just do a little Google research. It takes a little bit of effort, but I can find groups. I can find blogs and forums that actually talk about that. And that's where I would drop a podcast that would be geared towards the people that intermittent fast or drive ads towards those groups of people finding out their interest. Because I want to find people that are already predisposition to want my product to service. It's the exact opposite model of how the MLM industry told us, right? So it's not Hey, go find people that are your code, are your market that have no idea what you're doing
and they don't really care, frankly. So it rather than bugging people that are not interested in joining you. Targeting someone that's already predisposition to have a like minded interest in what you're doing, it should set you up for better success.
And I find this to work for me because it's part of what I do and the audience that I'm talking to is you guys. MLM, or people that are interested in this or in sales in general. So that's my target audience, you guys, which is kind of cool because what I'm doing is literally what I'm talking about
. But anyway, it's good. This is a shorter episode. It just popped in my mind. I'm going to go to the gym now and work out a little bit. But yeah, the takeaway for this episode is realistically like finding your target audience is looking for the niches that talk about what you're doing.
And on the internet and just finding out their interest. And that's how you can develop your dream 100. That's how you can create your bait by using ask campaigns. That's how you construct a value ladder to provide value to that.
Those groups of individuals. It goes on and on, but you've got to find those pockets first. Hope that makes sense. Guys, go enjoy your day. Go do something constructive. Be happy. Be grateful. You know all the good stuff.
But make sure you comment. Leverage you. That always helps me grow progress and do better at this. And just so you know, I do have the free MLM Hero Masters class. It's a five day video course that you can watch with your downline, watch by yourself, and it'll give you much more in-depth detail over the topics that
I'm talking about in this podcast. I'm going to go into more actual offer creation and things of that nature. Actual finding traffic, creating, finding leads, driving traffic. It's totally three. I keep a third party. As always, there's no pitch for my MLM.
I mean, if you want to jump ship and join me, that's really cool. But I definitely keep this podcast in my masterclass. I'm totally separate. But yes, if you are interested in that. Go to the MLMHeroRadio.com/radio, see guys in the next episode.
Hey, hey, this is Terry Brookhart welcoming you back to the MLM Hero Radio. Now I was editing my last episode a little bit and I know I went over the core concepts of Are you a success on B and how to avoid that and whatnot.
But it got me thinking about list making in general and the whole concept of the powerless that I touched on previously. And I wanted to expand upon that a little bit more. So first, forgive me, I'm asking for forgiveness first because this episode is a little bit nerdy in terms of things that I'm going to talk about. But the content is there and the content is huge. So bear with me throughout it and really enjoy.
If you're anything like me, then you know that MLM can be amazing business opportunities. But the major issue is what do you do if you don't want a bug family or friends, and how do we recruit the best players into your downline. This podcast answers those and other grilling questions about moms, as I've learned. My name's Terry Burkhart. Welcome to the MLM Hero Radio.
OK, before I dive right in to list making, I want to clarify the concept of this making.
And what I mean, it's not a to do list that creates success. Yes, you can write in goals and journals and daily blogs and things of that nature and visualize your success, which is great. And a lot of gurus and a lot of successful people have done that and they formed amazing habits while doing it.
But I want to be very specific on what I mean by a power list. So humans tend to focus on a very finite number of tasks today, and then they'll give their energy to other things because we're distracted day to day by social media, our pets, our kids, our family, our spouse.
There's so much in the world that gives us distractions and it takes us away from our focus. And if our focus is to build something for and you don't have a road map, then you're not going to create much success, you're going to be spinning your wheels.
You're going to be a success zombie by just reading, book after book or listen to a podcast and not really do anything with it. So were the powerless comes into play is not that you are creating another To-Do list of, Oh, I need to write a daily blog post or I need to take out the trash, or I need to take the kids to school or packed lunch. It's not a to do list. A power list is meant to give you a very clear roadmap to create successful habits throughout the next less than 90 days.
So for me, and what I do is I select three things and I've done this in the past and it every time I have committed to the power list, I have created more success in my life. I've been happier, I've done more, I've been more productive and I know this.
This has worked for several other people and it's something that I want to offer because it's something that if it brings goodness into my life, I know that it can bring goodness into yours. So the overall idea of a power list is creating or selecting three things that you want to form habits of.
For me, I chose read ten pages of a book a day. Start exercising before 9:00 a.m. and call one family member or good friend. And the purpose of the first three were to get me into the habit of reading and absorbing.
Good content, whether it's on business marketing or just personal development, the habit of reading just made my mind work faster and help me focus on the goals that I actually wanted to achieve. As for exercising before 9:00 a.m., that's just a good head it for me, in my opinion, to do.
I think that those that exercise tend to have generally more excess. I'm not saying you have to be a gym junkie, but going for a walk or doing some sort of aerobic exercise for ten to 15 minutes a day.
Just there have been so many studies shown that even moderate amount of exercise going for a walk helps your brain function properly helps your body. It just it puts you in a good mood. And why do we want success so that we have freedom?
And if we have freedom, we should enjoy it? So I believe the exercise goes hand-in-hand with success. As for calling one family member or friend, I mean, I myself, I felt and felt guilty of not calling the people that are closest to me.
There have been months that would go by that I wouldn't even call people that I grew up with or even my siblings. I mean, I would text them every so often know, sometimes daily, sometimes not. But for me, I felt disconnected, so I forced myself to create a good habit of just having a two minute conversation, just calling one person a day. And I can't tell you how invigorating it felt that at the end of the week that I just I all I did was call seven people, but I felt more connected with the people that are closest to me just by reaching out and saying hi and forming that habit has made me
feel more motivated to pursue my level of success. Now you can have anything that you want in terms of a power list. But I would strongly recommend that you keep it at three things a day if you do any more than three things you will.
In my opinion, and I fell victim to this as well. You get a sense of overwhelm. It becomes more of I need to accomplish this task by X time. Now that said, if you can do more, do more and that's truly OK.
But the purpose of the powerless is not a to do list, like I said, is to create habits. So let's say maybe you want to say wake up at your first alarm. So I, like many people, have a bad habit of always hitting the snooze button.
So what do I do? I hit the snooze button at 6:30 6:40 57 7:30. I get up at 8:00 sometimes and then I feel guilty because and honestly, I feel tired because I had like an hour, hour and a half of just keep hitting the snooze button.
So it didn't even get restful sleep at the time. So I made it a habit that I would wake up and commit to that very first alarm. So the moment my phone got up or went off, rather, I would roll my feet out of the bed, stand up and force my body to be awake.
It sucked. It was not a fun thing to do, especially if you've never done this before. But pushing through that discomfort is one of the biggest things that you can do, and it's really motivating. As soon as you start forming a habit of it, let's say you want to wake up at 7:00 a.m. as soon as that alarm buzzes, you roll out of bed. And after a week or two of waking up at 7:00 a.m. every single day, you're going to be able to get more accomplished in the morning and ultimately have more time for yourself throughout the day.
And again, you can finish the powerless in ten minutes. If that's if those are the items that are on your power list and it's entirely up to you. But again, I want to focus on the fact that these are supposed to be habits.
Now, after 30 days, if you've been waking up at 7:00 a.m., you can take that off your power list and put something else on to help you grow another positive habit in your life. Now let's tie this into MLM, because you know it is an MLM podcast.
If I want to build funnels or I want to create noise in the marketplace, create a launch plan and I want to create a habit. I would watch 20 minutes of a video tutorial every single day. I'd put that on my powerless to make sure that I accomplish that.
So that way, when I'm publishing and publishing like this in a podcast or on YouTube or on a blog post, if I'm doing this on a day to day again after 30 days, one is a habit. I can take that off, put something else on and create content and always push people towards a direction that I want
them to go and. This case, it's supposed to be purely educational things that help people, so I keep publishing. And one thing that's on my powerless now is to write out a podcast episode every single day. So that way, over the next 30 days, I have at least 30 episodes already taken care of, and I can drip
them out over a year, over six months, over three months. It's as long as I accomplish them and have them finished, then that's it. That's this. That's the road to success. Creating a game plan of habits that are going to push me in the direction that I want to go is the power list.
And the moment you start creating these habits and hard writing them down. And I would say, get a journal, a book, a notepad, sticky notes. I don't recommend typing it up. There's just something about handwriting down your list and seeing it is just so powerful.
Now that said, winning the week, day, month year. If you win and you accomplish every single item on your power list, all three of them, you win the day. That's it. And you can do whatever. If you win seven days in a row, you win the week and then it goes on and so on and so forth
until you basically win at life. If you don't accomplish one of those things that you write in your power lest you lose the day. It is what it is. We're adults. We have total control over our success. So if we lose something, if we don't do something on the day, we lose that day, it is what it is. But we can win the next day. And then when you start winning day after day after day and you see a bunch of W's in your journal that that just motivates you and pushes you even further. I know it did for me, and I know that this would definitely help you guys.
I really hope that made sense because. This is really about forming good habits, no matter what point in life you're at, whether you're just starting out in your entrepreneurial journey, whether you're ten years down the road. This is just something that you can keep in your toolkit that will just help you progress further.
It's kind of that next step, or it could be your very first step. Either way, the powerless is a very powerful tool pun intended for really all people, especially in the MLM space, especially in the MLM space anyway.
Definitely leave a comment or review specifically for this episode because I want to hear exactly what you guys actually do to create positive habits in your life. Because I mean, if I do two or three things and you do two or three things and they're totally different, we can help each other grow as a community, just like the Facebook group that I have for the MLM Hero radio. It's all about creating a community and growing together, but the comments in the other reviews were specifically for this episode is going to be like a huge Segway into that.
Anyway, sorry for the rant I told you it was going to be nerdy. I will warn you, but I really hope you guys enjoy this one. I am just signing off now and I will see you guys in the next episode.
Hey, what's going on, everyone? It's Terry Brookhart are here again, and I've got a question for you. Are you a success zombie? If you're anything like me, then you know that MLMs can be amazing business opportunities. But the major issue is, what do you do if you don't want to bug family members and friends?
So to answer the question, are US successes zombie, I'll start with the definition of success zombie.
Basically, it's the person that consumes all the content. They read all the books. They'll go and watch free webinars. They'll go on YouTube and absorb all the content, whether it's motivational, whether it's business, whether it's marketing, and they'll take all the this information right, they absorb it and then do nothing with it.
But they are the first person to say how to do things right or do the right thing, but they've never actually done anything themselves. Now, I first heard it on the MFCeo podcast, which is hosted by Andy Frisella, and I'm not sure if he was the first person that coined the term success zombie.
But that's where I heard it first hand. And that's pretty much the same definition that he went into detail explaining and what I'm talking about success zombies is one of my character flaws was I was a success zombie.
I went to seminars, I watched hours and hours of content. I bought several books and for a very long time, I didn't actually do anything with the knowledge that was gaining. And there is a time and place to absorb the information that you're trying to learn to produce some sort of result.
There's nothing wrong with that. In fact, in order to move in a particular direction, you had to have some sort of understanding of what direction you want to go and using the resources that you have, such as, you know, the books that are written by some of the experts in a particular field.
In this case, I'm marketing for and for your MLM or listening to people that have a sound voice or know what they're doing because they're the ones that have already walked the path before you. And modeling their behavior.
But at a certain point after you start, after you've read the books, after you've listened to the podcast or watch the videos, you have to make a point to take action. And that's kind of where I stopped. I was doing all the right things and I became very knowledgeable and I wasn't an expert in in the field, in the field marketing, especially internet marketing. But I knew what Right looked like, but I didn't take action immediately. I don't see it realistically and being totally open and vulnerable from the very first time that I went to a seminar, it would.
It took me two years to actually start doing anything. I dabbled here and there, and in my let actually said something along the lines of life is full of false starts or life is riddled with false starts. And what I mean by that is when you see something and you pursue a goal, whether it's fitness, whether it' joining an MLM, or whether it's creating your own business, it doesn't matter what you're trying to pursue, you will you keep repeatedly stopping and starting until you actually have some sort of success and create momentum behind that. So the cure that I found and what works for me is creating difficult situations that I overcome.
In other words, I'm not saying that this is for everybody. This is just what works for me. I take cold showers, so I'll get up in the morning, I'll go work out and then I come back. I'll make a protein shake and then I take a cold shower.
It's very uncomfortable. I don't like doing it. I'm used to it now and I've been doing it for honestly about a month, and it's definitely improved my mood. It definitely helps me focus. It sucks during the process.
It's a very uncomfortable situation, but my mentality is if I can withstand this discomfort, it makes me more mentally focused and mentally hard. So I don't quit when I face adversity or when things get difficult or when things get tough.
So if I'm doing long hours and recording podcasts, episodes are going out and talking to people or creating content, I don't get exhausted as quickly, and it's not necessarily from the showers themselves as much as it is from the act of making myself take on essentially controversy.
I'm making I'm taking a difficult situation and intentionally tackling it because it gives me confidence to keep moving forward. Also, what works for me? And not to make this preachy or like motivational, so to speak, but you've heard writing your goals down and things of that nature.
I do that personally, but every day I write down a little bit of like a paragraph journal of gratitude, and it helps me focus on the things that I'm currently grateful for. So that way, it keeps me in a more pleasant and happy mindset because I find that for me personally, I would read all the books and get all the motivation. And when I would do nothing with it, it usually would mean that I get down or depressed, or I talk myself out of wanting to record episodes for podcasts and publish or things of that nature.
But if I if I'm grateful, I'm more, I find myself being more motivated to do the right things. I do something called the powerless as well. So instead of writing goals, I basically have five tasks that I have to do every day to create positive habits in my life.
And they are wake up at the first alarm. So the very first time I hear my phone buzz, I get up and out of bed. It's it sucks it in the beginning because you're very uncomfortable with waking up the very first time that your alarm goes off where we train ourselves to constantly hit the snooze button and
I'm totally guilty of it. I did it many, many times, and I don't tell anyone, but I did it this morning just because I was a little bit sore and I wanted to sleep in. But tomorrow I'm getting right back on to my good habit train anyway.
So the five things are wake up a first alarm exercise before 9:00 a.m. Call one family member or friend. Journal, essentially write down the gratitude and my affirmations and meditate just. There's five things I do every single day, and at the end of 30 days, I can take one or two off and then put something else on.
And the whole purpose is just to create action in my life. I'm creating habits that I can keep improving upon. So going from a success zombie and saying that I'm doing the right things and reading and absorbing all the good content, it's doing action steps to put yourself in a position of power.
You want to be in control of what you're doing and how you do. That is take one step at a time. You don't have it. It's great to have ten goals and have all these monster dreams. I'm 100% for that and I do have them myself, but I also have.
My smaller goals that I tackle from day to day to make sure that I'm on, I stay on that trajectory because the worst thing that I find myself doing is from time to time, I get complacent. So how I keep myself focused on doing things like the power list or taking the cold showers to put my mind in a state of focus so that way I can do the right thing to progress forward. And this all ties into MLM because you can watch. All the videos, you can listen to this podcast and get a lot of great tips from me or people like me.
You can read the books from gurus and experts in the fields. But if you don't do anything with it or you don't try to put yourself in a position where you're improving day by day, you're not going to get anywhere.
I know I didn't get anywhere, and it's it's just it's a fact. It's the nature of the beast. So this whole episode is a little bit different than what I was originally talking about, but it was on my mind and I wanted to just talk about that.
Talk about taking away the success zombie and removing that piece from your life because we want. If you're listening to this podcast, you want some sort of success. Whether it's better health, better, more money, a sense of focus.
Or you just like listening to my voice, I don't know. But that said, I really hope that this is making sense. The biggest takeaway from this episode is to take action. How not to be a success zombie is by doing something.
Move forward somehow. I mean, I gave a couple examples that I do, but you don't have to do necessarily what I do. There's plenty of great resources out there, but start small identifying why and watching the videos and consuming the content, but do something with the content in this case, like I said, I'm doing a podcast and this is my voice. This is what my action to you guys.
So ultimately, that brings me to if you like this podcast and what I'm talking about, there's this really cool thing called the MLM Hero Masterclass that I'm giving away for free and I'm going to be open and vulnerable with exactly what I'm doing, and I want to show you guys my automated systems. It's kind of like a training that you can show your entire down line. It isn't a pitch. I do not talk about my MLM and all. I won't talk about it here on the podcast.
I won't talk about it in the masterclass. You'll never hear me mention it because I try to keep this very, very, very third party. I don't like when people, other people pitch me their product without me asking, so I will not do it to you guys.
I want you to feel comfortable. I want you to grow. If you want to stay in your own MLM, that's totally fine. My whole goal was to help you understand how the game is being played now and be successful doing it.
If you're interested in that? Go to themlmhero.com/radio, but that's it. I hope you guys enjoy it. Please leave feedback here and subscribe. So that way I can make it better for you guys, and I will see you in the next episode.
Hey, hey. What's going on, everyone? This is Terry Brookhart, and you are listening to the MLM Hero Radio. If you're anything like me, then you know, that MLM’s can be amazing business opportunities. But the major issue is, what do you do if you don't want to bug family members and friends? How do we recruit the best players into our downlines?
So I've always loved cooking, in fact, my grandmother was a large contributing factor to the whole reason why I went to culinary school in the first place. I'm from Pennsylvania originally and I went to a community college up in Harrisburg, but I didn't realize how amazing my grandmother was cooking. She always told me that when I was going to school, Terry, you'll always be a chef, but I'll always be a cook.
And what she meant by that is she grew up in a large family. She had 35 grandchildren now, not including great grandchildren. I personally have like 30 plus cousins, so I come from a large family too and we'd always get together a few times throughout the year, usually around holidays.
And she would often cook at these events because we were always they were my cousins and extended family would always come up to our house for these events, whether their barbecues for like the fourth of July or whatever.
But anyway, around Thanksgiving and Christmas, she would always cook 40 plus pies in a single conventional oven, all in one day. To put it in perspective, it was one of those cool burner rinky dink ovens that you can find anywhere.
Most people have them two racks. She would put three pies on the bottom and three pies in the top, and she'd rotate them periodically. But anyway, I'm talking about 40 plus pies in this one oven, all in one day, and I'm talking about from scratch.
She made the pie crust. She peeled the apples, chopped the apples, made the dough, the filling for the pumpkin pie strawberry pies, usually with like five or six different flavors. She'd cook them all and cool them all in one day and then bag them in a gallon Ziploc bags.
Needless to say, that's a very impressive feat for an old lady. Knock on wood. Aha. And God rest her soul. But for her to be able to put out that much from just one oven is impressive.
Now going through school, was a process in of itself because I didn't really work all that hard in school. I was a solid C student throughout college. I should have, in hindsight, put more energy into it, but I didn't, and it is what it is.
However, I did learn a lot about my general interest in things that I wanted to pursue, and I made some amazing connections because of it. Had I not gone to college, I really do 100% believe that I would not have made it to where I am today.
Not in this particular trajectory. And it's not because of going to school in itself, whether that was necessary or not. It's the fact that I went down the culinary path and went to school. It was a catalyst for my personal development and the connections that I made.
The people that I met led me to move several different places, work in several different restaurants and meet certain people that made a direct impact on my life. The only class I did pay attention to. Go figure, it was the culinary demonstration classes.
I mean, it was hands on and I loved it. Now, since then, I spent over ten years working in all kinds of kitchens and anywhere from flipping burgers to fine dining and everything in between. So suffice to say, I became really good at cooking.
To this day, though, I mean, even some of my friends will say, Hey, are you going to cook that super fancy food like blueberry gastric and demi glace? And this that and the other, you know, good stuff.
But once in a while, I'll make higher end dishes. But most time it's just, you know, easy casual food, and I can use pretty much any piece of equipment that's in the kitchen. I and I can make any amazing meal with little to no equipment in of itself, and I'm talking about like knives cutting boards, no matter if they're like the plastic super thin ones or like an actual cutting board. But I've worked in really massive large scale kitchens with a gas burners and all that stuff to tiny apartment kitchens. And one of the biggest things in working in all different types of restaurants.
A cook's number one asset in their toolkit is to know how to improvise. Now one of my favorite things about cooking for my friends. In some of their houses were like I was saying. Amazing double convection ovens and convection are the ones with the little fans in the back so that we had cooked a little more evenly.
Well, I think in the island with dual garbage disposals, they had a wire rack above the island that had all their high end pots and pans ready to grab you just spinning around. I mean, the kitchens were amazing and it was just really easy to work in those kinds of kitchens.
Then I think about, like I said, the apartments. I've worked in tiny kitchens where I would be using Walmart aluminum pans, the cool burners, like I was saying earlier how the garbage disposal kept breaking and I could be.
I could cook the same kind of food in the higher end kitchen as I could in the apartment kitchen. In fact, there was this one place where the air that I was living, that the fridge was in the corner and it was tucked beside the stove.
And every time I open up the fridge door, it wouldn't open up the whole way because the door kept smacking the closet next to it. So I don't know how they actually fit the fridge in there in the first place, but it was a very tight space.
And when me and my roommate would make family meal for our friends and it's just two people, it was it was cramped because we were touching each other's elbows the entire time. Now I promise this is going somewhere.
Just stick with me here. All right. So like I was saying, it was all of that. All of the cooking was because I went to college and that contributed to why I do what I do. And because of that, I had some of the most amazing places that I've actually worked in were things like Walt Disney World, Orlando Florida and a funny story. Though through my college, I actually had a chance to do an internship at Disney, but I applied twice and was denied. I Applied total of three times was denied twice before I was actually accepted, and I was super lucky to be where I was kind of putting it into perspective. I actually worked for something called Park Event operations. They do about 80% of the catering volume for the Disney parks. And I was on a team of 15 people that were selected, and out of those 15 people, it was during the Food and Wine Festival.
If you haven't gone, definitely after COVID, go to Epcot and go to the Food Wine Festival. It's delicious food from really all over the world. But the during the Food and Wine Festival, the they bring in roughly 30,000 culinary students extra to work that event and then a total of like 60 to 80,000 applicants every season applied to even go to Disney World. So roughly out of like 60,000 people, I was one of 15 people that actually had to work or had the chance to work with some celebrity chefs. And I'm not going to tout names, but it was a really cool experience to work with some high profile people.
One of these events, though, to further explain kind of equipment. I used a stamped steel santoku, just a style of knife, but I bought it at Walmart for, I think, 15 bucks, and I sharpened it myself on and on a stone.
So I kept mine. I took care of my knives, but I would use the Walmart knife when I went to work because I didn't care about it being beaten up so hard. If I if it was trashed for whatever reason, I wouldn't be upset because again, it was only a 15 dollar Walmart knife, but I kept razor sharp. There were kids there that had Mercers. They had globals, they had Shun knives, and I could see that they didn't take care of their knives. And one day we were mincing shallots. Nothing particularly fancy just mincing them really fine for an event that we were doing and one of them.
It was a guy that I really didn't get along that well. And at around that time, I may have been a little bit more egotistical and arrogant, but I digress. We had a competition on who could mint a full gallon of shallots first.
Now I have had a tremendous amount of experience and I've used I own Shun knives and I take really good care of them. They're like 200 dollar knives from Japan. They're really amazing. But he, he and I did a competition of who could mint their gallons first.
He had a global knife and global was just a name brand style of knife, all high grade, high carbon stainless steel. And it really wasn't all that sharp. I. Offered to sharpen it for him, but he said that and I quote global knives never need to be sharpened.
Well, all knives need to be sharpened, sir, honestly, to be sharpened and taken care of. Anyway, long story short, I won the competition because I took care of my knife. And even though I wasn't using a name brand knife, my skill set allowed me to outperform someone that was doing the same exact job as me that was using a higher end piece of equipment. Now, ultimately, I realized that. My whole experience and everything that I've learned from my grandmother and even using cheap knives and working in all kinds of kitchens is not the equipment or the vehicle, so to speak.
It's a skill of user me being able to cook amazing food or outperform this individual that was using high or a higher end piece of equipment, a better quality knife. Had everything to do with my skill set. So.
I'm saying, being able to cook really good food. It doesn't matter if I'm using a $200 a knife or name brand mobile cookware or like Emeril Lagasse cookware or Cephalon, I don't need to use the highest. And equipment to make really delicious food.
I can use Wal-Mart pots and pans. Now what does this have to do with MLM? Everything. If you remember me talking about the fact that in my first MLM, I recruited four people, I really enjoyed going to the event and being around the culture.
Honestly, MLM has a very unique, uplifting culture. It really is about personal development. However, in less than a year, bleeding money out the wazoo and literally doing nothing with that MLM, I blame them for my failure. I thought that because it was a scam.
I thought it was a scam because of that vehicle that I was preaching about financial success. And it didn't ah, they were preaching about financial success and that didn't make me rich. But a lot of the people that I have looked up to and are I looked up and did have success with the MLM were not my
MLM. So I started comparing myself to all these successful people that weren't in my MLM that did have success. But really, though, speaking of kitchens, does cooking in a kitchen with all the bells and whistles help? Of course it does, but only to the degree of the cook's ability to use it.
If someone doesn't know how to use an immersion blender or know what a mandolin is, it isn't going to help them anyway. Now, food that is cooked by an expert in a crappy kitchen is going to be delicious.
It's the same thing with him on a promise as part of the reason why you'll never hear me mention the MLM that I'm in on this podcast because I don't care what MLM you're in. If you love it, stay in it.
Your skill level has nothing to do with the MLM that you're in, and the skill level that every network marketer needs to have is marketing. It's called network marketing for reason, even though it's largely misnamed. But that's another point.
And even more than marketing, though, I realized that there were ways to recruit people with sales funnels that I needed to market instead of prospecting to remember marketing pulls people to prospecting pushes people away from you. So I created a system that was based off of what the top managers were doing.
It's this podcast. It's the MLM Hero Masterclass. It's my application funnel for my actual MLM. It's the video courses of the best tips in the industry that are put together for my downline. If you remember in the last episode now, I was talking about the difference between sales and marketing.
And there are guys like Joe Polish that say sales is what happens face to face, while marketing is any action that gets them to your face. So I sold wine to people at events. I would conduct the sale, have a closed sale, face to face, make the exchange money immediately.
Marketing is how did I get people into the door? What actions did I take to get the person to come to me in the first place? Now Facebook and Instagram posts about how you work from home or how much money you make while you sleep, or even drinking a protein shake while at the gym is not marketing, contrary to popular belief. It's annoying. Nobody likes that it's prospecting and it pushes people away. Nobody cares that you're in the gym and you're making money. Huh? If I offend people, it is what it is, but that's the reality of the situation.
That is not marketing. Now I do want you to understand what the difference between offering a product are because you can market to people and get them to you. But ultimately, you are the same as everybody else in your MLM.
So what do you do? How do you make yourself different and get someone to join you instead of someone beside you? If you're exactly the cookie cutter, same as someone else, what can you do different? That's where the offer comes in.
You create an offer. Now your offer is what you can do more than what your counterpart can do. So you don't have to be a techie or a coder. In this case, I use Clickfunnels. I use them and I'm a huge advocate.
But there are others like, you know, HubSpot and lead pages. But I personally think Clickfunnels is the easiest to use, and I'm certainly not a coder. I just know that it's kind of a thing that exists. But just to give you an idea, you can brainstorm about this.
You can even Google how to create offers. But I mean, this is what I do. I do have in my masterclass a little tidbit about offer creation. Before you think of putting together a five day video mini course on how you do what you do, that creates value.
And in case you didn't know, if you don't want to publish right away, if you don't want to do a podcast, if you don't want to be behind a camera right away, that's OK. There are a couple of other ways that blogging is another way to create a natural for flow of traffic.
But if you didn't know YouTube, once someone publishes something in its public, it goes into the public domain, which means you can use that video in your course. Now, I certainly would not make money off that. That is kind of shady.
So huge disclaimer. I would not suggest making money off of somebody else's private video, but creating your own members area where someone signs in, they give you your email address and you have a list of the top most popular videos that YouTube has the top ten of.
Let's say you research MLM lead gen in YouTube, the top ten videos. You can link them into a member's area. And guess what? That is a free way of you providing that. Are you to somebody because who says that they're the top ten most valuable videos on the internet?
YouTube does. Now another example of offer creation. Think of think of getting a haircut. I'm a guy and I've I try to be frugal with my money sometimes, especially when it comes to haircut, because I mean, to me, I just thought it was just about the getting, just about getting the haircut off my head.
So I went to great clips, I went to Supercuts, all kinds of different places. If you ever heard of sports clips, it's different. They actually have an offer for about the same price. You can get a haircut just like anywhere else, and you can stop there.
But for like 15 bucks more, they created an offer around it that takes maybe ten minutes and it's a whole lot more. They have a little massager, the massages your shoulders, they have this hot towel that they put on your face.
They rub your face through the towel. So it's like it's like a deep massage. It's a manly spa kind of thing, which is really cool, and it costs them virtually no money and only like an extra ten minutes of time for 15 bucks more.
Now, of course, I want to go with that offer because I get more value out of that. It's a much better experience for that haircut than, you know, just going to Supercuts, getting a trim and then leaving. I hope this is kind of making sense of some light bulbs are going off.
It's how you are different. Is based on the offer that you were giving to somebody. What sets you apart is the differences in your attractive character, your flaws and what your story, basically. And then beyond that, for the product that you're putting in front of somebody, whether it's an MLM product or service or just your opportunity as a whole, it's that whole concept of everything that you can bundle together, create an offer out of it. Because if you're able to offer more than your competition for the same base product at little to no cost to you, your app, your chance of actually getting that customer to come to you, those odds increase dramatically.
Anyway, as always, leave a comment review. Tell me how you like this information, what I can do better, and I will see you guys in the next episode.
Hey, guys, what's up? You are listening to the MLM Hero Radio. If you're anything like me, then you know that MLM can be amazing business opportunities. But the major issue is what do you do if you don't want to bug family members and friends?
How do we recruit the best players into? I don't. This podcast is. To those other growing questions about moms, as I. My name's Terry Brookhart. Welcome to the MLM Hero Radio. Hope you guys like the energy life is definitely too short to not have fun.
So anyway, one of the reasons why it even took me a year to start recruiting people into my MLM was because I actually had a belief that I needed to be good at sales and speaking. And you know what I mean?
Kind of like that Wolf of Wall Street guy super smooth says all right. Things in a suit and tie gives off successful businessman vibes. Always prim, proper, polished, always a stage speaker, you know. You know what I'm talking about.
So I mean, I read books and was listening to people say dress like success and I believed in. I believe it honestly, being a slick salesman and seeing what people wanted to hear was being successful at getting people to give me money.
I thought sales was basically dressing a particular type of way and saying the right things. And honestly, I blame a lot of media and movies for giving off the wrong impression of what business really looks like.
And but the past three years now has shown me that. Really, that's not how it is. It really is not. I've made more money being vulnerable by highlighting my differences rather than my strengths, and I've made way more money just by being myself.
I've sold more products wearing a T-shirt and jeans than I did, pretending to be something that I'm not. I realized that I didn't have to. When I first sales jobs, I actually had to put on a blazer.
I had a button down with a tie and polished shoes always. And it took me a couple of years to realize that I can do the same, if not a whole lot more. And ended up doing a whole lot more sales being myself.
That is, by being natural. I've walked into a group of people to sell wine and went against the internal norm of what my corporate office taught us to do. It was literally like I think I was in a polo and some jeans and sneakers and did the same thing, and I ended up selling a whole lot more wine than I usually did, just because I was more comfortable being myself. But I realized that being myself, though, attracts more people to me than being some polished salesman. And now I'm myself, but I'm a whole lot louder.
And trust me, I'm a very loud person in general. If you know me, I'm a very boisterous individual and I'm proud of that. I embrace it. I embrace my, my confidence, my loud, abrasive self. Now that said, I did decide that I wanted to be a good salesman, so I downloaded a bunch of sales training videos and I spent hours just consuming the content. And initially, in that interim, I was actually trying to sell windows. When my first sales jobs was, I was attempting to go door to door sales, selling of windows, and that did not last very long.
It was it was difficult and I bowed out quicker than I thought. Then I thought I really wouldn't when I first started, but that's when I fell into the wine thing. And to be honest, selling wine or alcohol in general is a whole lot more fun, but that's besides the point.
But in the scope of what I was doing when I was selling wine, it was face to face a lot of events or home meetings, so to speak, where people would invite me out to be like a wine educator.
And but I'd say about a good 30 to 45% of it was over the phone. And if you've never done telemarketing before, it isn't fun. I would literally sit down for hours like solid eight to ten hour blocks and call hundreds.
And then over the span of weeks, I would call thousands of people to beg get them to buy wine from me who haven't even made a purchase in some cases two years and in some cases over five years. And these people have not thought why, but they did it at one point in time.
But now I'm basically cold calling all these people that do know about us, but realistically don't. And as for me personally, though, I really don't think that you need to go through all that. I just did it because I knew it would be hard and it would force me to handle rejection.
So I'm getting a lot of people to say no of the phone. It put me hard my mental state, so I was able to handle knows better, so to speak. And eventually I actually became good at selling over the phone, selling in face to face.
But I was missing the whole marketing piece and I thought it was the same. The thing because our corporate office, they were preaching that sales and marketing were pretty much the same thing, we would reach out to our clients ourselves and get them to buy our products.
Essentially, we were our own lead generation. Sound familiar? But I was good at selling face to face when it came to wine because we had a corporate backing and I knew what I was doing. But I wanted more success.
And one of the first things that I would one of the first events that I did when I was selling wine. We called it the Christmas show and we would go in and we'd buy this booth. It would be like 20 foot by ten foot to be ten feet back, about 20 feet wide.
And we'd have about four people. Four wine consultants basically set up the entire booth from start to finish. We would paint the walls, bring in the tables and bring in the wine. And at the start of the event, we would have people walk by it because it was this huge Christmas convention where people would come in.
They buy a bunch of knickknacks and we would call people that were walking by our booth. And hey, you like wine and bring them in and then basically pitch them to buy wine? And I realized that it didn't matter who talked to the individual it if someone came to the table, if they were called in any, any one of us could sell that person. So if there are five people, there would be five individuals that the client, so to speak, that came into the booth. It didn't really matter who pitched them or why they didn't know our product.
They didn't know our services, they didn't know us. It was our job to educate them, but it didn't matter if it was me or somebody else to do it. And initially, I was really good because I just basically said how I felt about the wine.
I was talking about my how I even got into wine and what I knew about it and how much fun it was. And I'm a lot of people resonated with that. The moment I started actually learning more and more about wine, I was learning about sulfites, learning about fermentation, even learning about how the wine is being made. I would bring people in the same process and I would just tell them about all this information is regurgitate all this stuff about wine, and it caused more people to walk away because it became less about a conversation of enjoying wine and more about me regurgitating information and seeing all these fancy words that made me sound smart. And I really didn't understand why some people were buying from me, and some people weren't. And I just felt that I was being educating. I would educate them, and I was very knowledgeable and it didn't dawn on me as to what was happening.
And so basically, I was talking to some friends about another interest of mine, and I'm big into health and fitness. I love intermittent fasting. I love human physiology. And what happens inside the body with particular nutrients? And I can go on and on and on about what the body does when you fast, how long you should ask what, what food you should break the fast with. But after like five minutes of talking about nutrition, people's eyes glaze over. They stop listening and they're like, Oh, huh. Uh-Huh. And I know you've been there before, especially when you when moms are notorious for this, when you're sitting there and you're trying to explain all the perks and benefits about your complaining about how great the lifestyle is, how good the products are. It's honestly most people don't care about like good products or comp plans. They care about wise. And what I realized was I was techno battling.
Essentially, I was just saying a bunch of stuff and confusing a lot of people out of a cell. So I would talk my way out of a cell because I would talk too much. Now, ironically, podcasting is a great way for me to talk a lot because it is a podcast, after all, which is fantastic for me because I like talking. I get that from my father. Whether it's a good thing or a bad thing, it's still to be determined. But anyway, so I realized that the more knowledge that I gained on a subject, no matter what it was, I felt an urge to talk about that.
And until I could realize how much information somebody needed before they were able to make a decision, I would just given all the information upfront. And ultimately they would just they would. Want to avoid me, it didn't matter if they would.
Even if I tried to give them a 100 dollar bill to talk to me. They would walk away. It didn't matter what it was. They didn't want to be around me. But that was when I realized that I really just needed to be better at storytelling.
I needed to be better at communicating and just telling stories as a whole. There are tons of books out there that preach good marketers are good storytellers, and to put some put the put this in the place where you can understand it rather than just say facts and figures.
Getting somebody in a state of mind and getting them to feel where you were, where you were at a particular time makes them resonate with you a whole lot more. They can feel what you feel. Actually, Expert Secrets is a great book.
Russell Brunson talks about something called the Epiphany Bridge, and there's two things logic and emotion, you've heard the story that logic does not sell, emotion sells, logic closes. And essentially what that is. Have you ever gone out to eat and had a really good meal?
Or you went to see a really great movie and you just have this amazing, overwhelmingly great experience like the service was just amazing and you wanted to tell your friend the first person you ran into. You picked up the phone and you made a call, right?
And you're like, Hey, Joe, this was a really great a movie. You should really go see it. It had x y z in it, or the restaurant was absolutely delicious. You got to go check out this steak house is actually phenomenal.
And they just look at you and they say, “Uh, OK.” What's your response usually? Well, I guess you had to be there. And it's because you overwhelm them with a lot of information right off the get go. You didn't put them in a state of mind where they could feel what you felt.
There was no emotional connection to what you experienced because they weren't there. They weren't seeing what you were seeing, feeling what you were feeling. They couldn't resonate with that. So telling a story and explaining that this service was great.
The moment we sat down, they called us by name. They pulled out the chairs for us. They brought an appetizer. They knew from the last time that we've been there that we ordered, and it was already ready on the table.
Hot, absolutely delicious. They brought us a complimentary bottle of champagne because that on my account, they had remembered my birthday, which was really made me feel special. Telling stories like that and putting someone like in basically walking a mile in somebody's shoes, so to speak, makes the connection to what you're saying a whole lot more effective. And that said, with MLMs what I see, is really rampant, especially like the health ones. Have you ever gone to a hotel and someone stops you in the lobby to say, “Hey, you're are you burning ketones? And you know, you should try this product because it'll get you in a in a fast state because you drink these twelve salts and you'll burn ketones, you'll burn fat.” And it's really bombarding and really confusing right off the get go.
And when you sit down and have a conversation with somebody and ask, why did you first get into MLM? A lot of times, at least in my experience, it's “Oh, the product's great. I know it's got the best nutrition nutrients or it's got the best quality. And the comp plan is fantastic.” But they really don't answer the question as to why they first got into MLM. It is kind of like the first episode that I put on this podcast, the MLM Hero Radio, I was telling my story and the whole reason why I got into MLM as a whole. And that said, I wanted to put you in the same frame of mind that I was at in how hard it was not having money, how not being able to provide and but still being hungry for more and doing all the right things and feeling like I needed to reach out. I was looking for something. I wanted you to feel what I was feeling, so I was telling my origin story. So when you tell people whatever you're selling, it doesn't even have to be MLM whatever you're selling, explaining your why.
Simon Sinek actually wrote the book “Start With the Why”. And people, he explains in it that Apple, as a good example, people in the purchase Apple products kind of like a cult following because they believe in Apple's message. The people buy why you do something, not what you do, and it's very applicable in MLM that people will gravitate towards you if they can understand where you are and being unpolished, being yourself, being vulnerable. It's literally what I'm doing on this podcast right now. It reminds me of one of Gary White's quotes. “When you start something, you're going to suck really bad.”
And eventually, if you keep doing that thing, you're going to suck so little you'll actually be good at it. So I get it. I am right there in the trenches with you, I understand. But the point is consistency, and that's why I'm doing this podcast.
That's why I'm showing you the fact that I. Don't have all the answers, but I'm showing you what I know and what I'm learning, because if it helps you, then that is a win anyway. That leads me to the closing sequence.
Reviews and comments really do help me out. It helps iTunes and Spotify and all that good stuff with their metrics. But they're important for me because it helps me give you guys better quality content for you.
It doesn't really matter because I'll take all the feedback to always improve. But subscribe if you enjoy the content. If you want to follow me on my journey because this is this is definitely something that will go far because this we're on this for the long haul.
Anyway, I will see you guys in the next episode.

Hey, hey. What's going on, everyone, you are listening to the MLM Hero radio. If you're anything like me, then you know that MLM can be an amazing business opportunity. But the major issue is what do you do if you don't want to bug family members and friends? How do we recruit the best players into our downline? In this podcast, those and other grilling questions about mlms, as I've learned. My name's Terry Burkhart. Welcome to the MLM Hero Radio.
So a couple of years ago, I was actually at the 10X growth con in Las Vegas.
If you don't know what the 10X Growth Con is, it's think of it like a giant sales conference where a bunch of keynote speakers will come in and talk about sales, motivation, entrepreneurship, that kind of stuff. It's hosted by a guy named Grant Cardone.
And if you don't know who Grant Cardone is, Google him, he's definitely worth looking up. If you like this podcast, you're definitely going to like him. He's a very polarizing individual, does a lot with real estate, any coaches, a lot of entrepreneurs anyway at the sales conference.
A guy named Russell Brunson came on a stage and he introduced me to Robert Kiyosaki quote. And it's not verbatim, but it goes on like this any time you start walking down an entrepreneurial journey. Character flaws show up and they will stop your progress.
They will need to be addressed before you move on. So it's essentially like in sales. “Oh, I don't like talking to people.” Well, you're going to need to learn how to talk to people if you want to sell.
So things like that. So for me, though, when I first started in MLM, I know I had a ton of character flaws, to be honest. I had no idea how to run a business. I had no idea how to market.
I had no idea how to duplicate. I had no idea what to say or who to even talk to about. But I was reading a lot of inspiring books and absorbing knowledge. It was kind of part of the part of the why behind the why of why even I wanted to get into MLM in the first place. So some of the books were like the four hour work week by Tim Ferriss and Money Master The Game by Tony Robbins. They kind of pre framed me for my first MLM, and once I joined, I actually thought that I was ready to run and I was ready to do what needed to be done to be successful.
So at the time, I was being told to make a list of family members of friends, bring them on to a three way phone calls, go to hotel meetings, hosts some home meetings and I did that for months and months and it was exhausting and I had zero return.
Well, not entirely. I actually did recruit four whole people. Three of them were actually my family members, my siblings. And one of them was actually a friend of mine. And I know now because I talked to them because they only were in it for, like a couple of months.
They told me that they did it because they joined because it was me. They basically pitied me and joined because they wanted me to be successful. And when they told me that it crushed me because it made me feel so small.
It left a very bitter taste in my mouth after that, and honestly, even the few other people that were friends and associates of mine that I even kept calling to try to get them to join me.
Some of them won't even pick up my phone call anymore just because they felt like I was pressuring them. And it's like, “Oh, you're in a pyramid scheme or you're being scammed. I don't want to be a part of that.”
And it just it makes me so friggin mad that MLM has such a bad rap because the methods that are being taught, I had to live through them and learn that they don't work.
And this was all actually. While I was in Rhode Island, I was working two jobs. I used to be a cook in a two different restaurants. One of them was a Hilton, and the other one was the province Biltmore. And I was trying to make rent even with my girlfriend at the time.
So for those that have been in New England or if you if you know New England, it gets very, very cold in the winter, lots of snow. So we were in this apartment and we were on the first floor.
We had access to the basement, had a washer and dryer to it and landlord didn't know at the time. But we we kind of opened up the other basement, dawn. Oh, it's kind of like a mini apartment underneath.
So we kind of had to sneak that around, which is kind of shady, but it is what it is. But at this, even though I was working two jobs and she had a job at this in this apartment during the winters, it was really cold.
We figured out that some of the outlets went to different floors. So what we did was we actually bought an extension cord and a spare room heater where we plugged in the extension cord to one of the outlets that went to the third floor.
And then we put the space heater into our bedroom. So that way we could stay warm during the winters. Not proud of that, but we did it to survive, and it's really honestly emasculating that. Even though I was working so hard, I wasn't getting ahead at all and I couldn't even afford to stay warm with my girlfriend. It was really frustrating. But even though since then, I've had a variety of financial hardships that really were not pleasant, and I could have done several things that would have been easier. Like recently a few years ago, my grandmother passed away, and for me, it was really upsetting that I couldn't help pay for her funeral. So she we opted to get her cremated because that was the cheapest option. So me as a full grown man, because I couldn't pay for a casket funeral for my grandmother to have her buried anywhwere, the ground really was devastating to me and it really forced me to look at
my financial stability and realize that I needed to do more because it just made me feel sick. But anyway, even though I went through a lot of hardships, I'm glad that I did because they helped make me who I am today.
And that's the whole reason why I have even have the ability to talk to you guys. I I'm glad that. I mean, I'm glad that I've gone through that because it gave me a voice and it gave me a stronger character because of that.
Now I said, though, I was in that I'm alone for about a year. I really tried hard to make it work and it just I was bleeding money and it was just I went in. We had so many fights because of it.
So I just utterly gave up on MLM after that. And for about two and a half three years, I didn't want anything to do with it because I truly believe that it was. It was a pyramid scheme that nobody would make money except the people at the top, which is not true.
So about a year ago, I was actually introduced to another MLM that I actually did end up joining, but I chose initially not to do anything with it because I didn't want to repeat the same mistakes that I did the first time through.
So for an entire year, I didn't do anything. It was it was in the health industry, and I really like their products. So that's what brought me into it. That was, and I believe that MLM products are really good in some instances.
But within that year of being in an MLM and not doing anything with it, I kind of didn't want to make money in it because I didn't want to be broke all the time. So I was doing some digging and did some research, and I spent a couple of hours for a span of like two months every day, just watching people sell stuff online, affiliate marketing, all that kind of stuff. And I found basically a page and went down a rabbit hole of internet marketing, and I binged on this for a few hours one day and I ran into a guy named Steve Larson.
He had this whole idea of using sales funnels and in MLM. And for me, I had “an aha” moment. I'm like, What? What is this witchcraft? Sales funnels to recruit people from. I don't listen to his podcast absorbing some of his content.
And it was the first time that I've. Ever been told something different than what, like traditional MLM features? This whole idea of actually targeting people who already want the products or the opportunity. It made me feel great because that means I'm not begging people to join my opportunity.
They already want to do it. I'm not, you know, asking my friends and family ever again knowing that they actually don't want to do it. And besides, nobody likes that guy. Hey, do you keep your options open? What if you had multiple streams of income?
Yeah, no. Nobody likes that guy. But anyway, this whole concept of paid prospecting or getting paid while you prospect was absolutely fascinating and I started researching as much as possible. And video after video, I started to realize that this guy, Steve actually kind of knew what he was talking about.
He figured out how this game worked, and he was teaching people how to do it. So like that, my fire was lit again, like in almost instantly like that. But I had no idea where to start, even though I was researching.
I kind of was hitting a wall and it kind of had a kind of had me rethink where I was going. And then one of the quotes in Tony Robbins popped in my head, and I don't remember the whole quote off the top of my head, but it's along the lines of like modeling behavior.
So when something kind of like this, if you if you know what you want to do, find somebody who's already doing it and do what they do, basically modeling behavior. So that's kind of what I did. I googled some top members and I tried to figure out what they were doing to be successful.
I never did it before, so I was doing some research to figure out if someone was super successful in the MLM industry. How and why were they successful in less than two hours? I found out that none of the top AMA plumbers were doing any kind of hotel meetings.
They weren't doing home meetings. They weren't doing three way phone calls. They weren't doing anything that the MLM was preaching. The only way you can be successful and be duplicated is make a list of that family and friends and call away. They weren't doing any of that.
And to be honest, it was. It was really confusing and kind of infuriating. And at the same time, like why if someone at the top isn't doing what is being taught to the bottom, the why is it still being taught?
That's that really is why people call MLM a pyramid scheme or network marketing as pyramid scheme. Whatever you want to call it, it's broken right outside of the box. There is no true, true duplicate of all systems in place.
You get product service and you're told how to you basically the front end salesman of that particular MLM. Anyway, I took a breath and calm down a little bit, and I wanted to soak in the realization of what was going on, going down.
They weren't doing what what we were being taught by or applying to be successful. So what were they doing? A lot of them that I found out they were actually they had their own websites that were different from their corporate websites.
And they. They basically had a paid process pass betting funnel. A lot of them had this like a quick start guide or a PDF or an e-book that was essentially free that they gave people. They traded for someone's email and they put them on an email list.
And then immediately, when someone opted in for that, that free, whatever it was, there was another thing that basically was like a flash drive or a CD that said, Hey, if you like that free thing, this CD or flash drive would go great with it.
And it was it was a free plus shipping offer, so it was like $7.99 or whatever, basically was the shipping, and they got the CD for free and validated them as a buyer. And then if you followed further down that funnel, the next thing was, Oh, this product goes well with his $49 exclusive right now, if you buy that with the CD. So they made money in the back end of the funnel, but it validated them, that person as a buyer. They never worked with and I will stress this. They never worked with anyone that did not pay them money.
First, it was it was essentially a filtration process that got them great candidates before they even joined the MLM because they knew that the person that would be willing to spend $7 was the one that didn't had a totally different mentality.
I don't know if it was Russell Brunson who coined it, but there is a saying that goes those who pay, pay attention. So this paid Type of prospecting, sifted out people that were time wasters, and it basically safeguarded the top MLMer’s time and money, which is the most valuable things.
The whole reason why we want to be successful and have money is to have more time and money speed's time up to get things faster for us, and it keeps honestly the leeches out of the downline. The people that, always say I need help. Can, can, can you show me this? Can you do this for me? If you're dragging the horse to the water can you make it drink? No, you can take a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.
But if this offends you and if you feel like a leech? Well, the easiest way to fix that is to take action, just do something, be productive and provide value. Then you won't be a leech anymore. So they made these sales funnels right, and this is what sales funnels is.
What they were doing it in its call that in the internet marketing world, and my epiphany was like, Hey, I think I can actually make something like this. So that's where I'm at. I made a funnel and I'm actually teaching people how to do the same thing in my down line, and I'm learning how to move. I'm learning how to do this as these funnels come out and how they progress. I'm because I'm learning how these work. I'm showing them and teaching them and giving them to my downline.
In another episode, I'll actually go over the more specifics of things like offer creation, how to drive traffic to the funnel and building the funnelitself. Right now, I just want to talk about the other core concepts in in a more of a broad sense, but to touch on a big point. The top members don't do what was being taught in the mainstream MLM.
They don't go bug people in malls. They don't hand out pamphlets. They don't hand out samples. They don't beg family members and friends because they would be great at it. And you should not, either. That's not how the game works anymore, and I honestly doubt that it really ever did, it may have worked in the past.
I mean, I'm not saying that amazing people have not been recruited through those means. I'm sure that there have been, but they're not many. I'm a millennial. I realize that the internet's here and there is a much more efficient way to create systems that are duplicate able to make your time more efficient to actually recruit people that care about what you do and to making money in the process. Your time is valuable, and it's the one asset that you can never get back. So for me, I mean, I honestly like having time to like.
I like spending time with my family. I live in North Carolina now, and if I can go see my family in Texas, Pennsylvania, New York or West Virginia any time I want to, that's important to me and I love to see them more often.
And it's why we do this. It's the freedom, the freedom to do what you want, how you want, where you want any time you want. So, yeah, and as always, leave a review. Subscribe to the podcast. If you like the content and the reviews and the comments, they help me make this a little bit better for you guys and it helps me make it better for me. So that way I know what kind of content to actually put out there. So it helps me help you, help me help you. Anyway, guys, I will see you in the next episode.
