Because frankly: it was all part of the plan.

Forcing smart phones on people didn't make you more efficient; it allowed the news media outlets (and others) to influence you to believe certain things and think a certain way.

To be clear:

It's not about taking a stance.

It's about unequal treatment.

Don't worry, as Suga Free said: "if you stay ready, you ain't got to get ready".  So, ready he will be.

Many speculate this jeopardizes the plan to waive student loan debt, because it was authorized under that declaration.

What you really should wonder is, if you voted for Biden only because of that carrot he dangled, why did you do that?

And more importantly, did you learn a valuable lesson not to fall for such traps when voting for a candidate?

While it's somewhat true that jobs might be available, we're ignoring the real problem: companies no longer respect workers or their individual contributions.

People should feel empowered to work whatever their niche, and as long as they're trying their hardest, it should be reasonably simple to find work.

Truth is, it's not - and we shouldn't try to tell those people to just go flip burgers.

We also don't believe that businesses should be involved in these things, at least not to a deep level. It's fine to support employee-specific things that they wish to do in their free time or to offer paid time off to support their personal objectives; we simply don't think the company should be trying to drive things forward such as whether or not a person can or should drive a gas-powered vehicle.

Likely not a popular opinion.  But the fact is, people shouldn't be hired to fill a quota.  They should be hired because they can (and will) get the job done.  To do otherwise puts a burden on everyone else - and that's been getting worse.  We talked about this on an episode some months back.

As we are hopefully closing in on our third client, it caused us to reflect on the challenges with the first: the bulk of the resistance is a refusal to acknowledge that I've got vastly more experience than the existing people.

It's not for us to say whether there's an underlying bias.  It doesn't matter.  We do what I'm paid to do as long as we're paid to do it - but we do it in a way that is quality, every time.  Others just do the bare minimum.  That was always the disconnect.

That methodology - doing the bare minimum - is a symptom of what we believe is a loss of the desire to mentor people so they do the job correctly and with high quality.

We just got a prospect that might lead to a third revenue stream.  Skeptical it goes through as it's full-time and Leicester is significantly more picky on full-time, because many employers tend to want to mistreat their workers and treat them like children.

So far at least it's sounding good.  One more call to test that.  If they agree to terms, it's a LOT of money for the three clients, but we might drop our first client due to the contact starting to act shady - unless the client can work with us to work around them.

Meanwhile, we thought we'd rant a bit (admittedly it's a rant) about the rise of forced video calls in business plus companies that force their workers to be "available" 8 hours a day on Slack/Teams/etc.

Unfortunately, from 1970 onward, the US government has done everything in its power to devalue the American worker, including effectively removing their right to simply work and be left alone.

We're back - and we've got opinions about the steps that companies go through, both for contractors and full-time employees in the US.

Everyone knows that the steps they do are designed to essentially self-disqualify people - a rat race, rather than embracing and welcoming quality people with a simple onboard process.

Companies talk about problems with culture, but in truth, those issues start with a convoluted HR process that ends up creating an echo chamber full of elitists.

The FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago is less about Trump and more about inequality.

Their raid is to try and prove something they believe to be true, largely spurred by social media cries for justice over claims made during the partisan "Jan. 6 Commission" where the current members refused to investigate criminal activities in other places in the nation (especially Portland) on and around that date.

Meanwhile, the Justice Department has direct evidence of crimes from the current President's son, plus a journal from the current President's daughter referring to possible illegal activities, and a former Secretary of State destroying Federal records - none of which are investigated.

We've frequently believed that some of the nutcases out there are getting triggered by what they believe is a need to "take matters in their own hands" - and the statistics around when these spikes happen vs. when they decline is telling.

It's called the Inflation Reduction Act, and we encourage that you read up on it (try to choose official sources, rather than biased media sources.

Fact: taxes are being slightly increased on tiers other than just the wealthy.

Certain sources are slanting it due to what expected to be numerous credits/deductions/etc. The problem is, the current government has added significant layers of red tape in front of any sort of benefit ("dangling a carrot") - so while there may be such credits/deductions, they generally only apply to a small subset of people.

There are also other forms of taxation inherent to inflation itself that won't be resolved by any of this.

Our hope is that the younger generation takes note of this: it may sound good to try and force widespread changes, but someone always has to pay...and 9 times out of 10, it will be you, or your kids, in the form of taxes. And no protests for raising minimum wage will solve this.

The only answer is to be realistic, and to some degree conservative, with what we try to do, when.

The untimely passing of Ivana Trump, the ex-wife of former President Donald Trump, was treated as an opportunity for mainstream news outlets to spike ratings rather than a valid celebration of her and what she had done independently.

We also noticed that news media coverage is (finally) more inclusive of alternate data that questions the effectiveness of current President Joe Biden's policies.

What's missing is still the affirmation that American citizens are still hurting as a result of those policy changes - and the three branches of government are increasingly at odds.

Finally, the Commander-In-Chief (the President) has alienated American troops.

That's not good, or healthy.

It's a fact that 2021 was harmful for many people.  Nearly everyone focused on keeping a roof over their families' heads, not paying for non-essentials.

One thing the government didn't do that might have helped, would have been to put a block against negative credit marks if the reason was COVID-related.  That would have helped many more people (and saved a lot of taxpayer money), plus it would have prevented spikes in bankruptcies.

What is being presented as a "Commission" only exists to serve those on social media who are looking to validate their (faulty) opinion about things, in complete disregard to the other harm that Americans incurred during the span of 2020.

The actions of 2021 were basically the government making decisions about people's bodies - for them - and in disregard of civil liberties.

Social media voices supported these actions despite numerous warnings that it would set a bad precedent.

The revoke of Roe v. Wade is the same thing: it's now up to the states to tell people what they can and cannot do with their bodies. Which is what those voices specifically asked for (but didn't understand).

We also see that the government is trying to placate by passing toothless laws like the recent funding bill for mental health instead of trying to address the real issue, which is making sure that guns cannot be brought into places where there's a risk of them being used improperly.

Someday, people will understand that what sounds good on paper may not necessarily be what people really want.

We firmly believe that the rush to get rid of copper POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) is a big mistake, and not well thought out - and is in essence a misuse of technology because it loses many of the reasons for POTS (not relying on power/still working during power outages, which means that the rush to "clean" energies will cause this transition to add more strain on the existing grid that we're not ready to handle).

However, the ramifications of the decision won't really be felt until long after we're gone.

Make sure you're ready for the transition if you still have your old phone service and are a US citizen, if you haven't gotten an outreach from your phone service provider.

Bottom line: if your phone line isn't coming out of a modem, you might be affected.

"Those that govern" have been following the voices of social media since Joe Biden took office.

The result: Americans are still hurting while the focus has been every other country's needs.

If we get the blowout in November, we might be able to get back on track, but if not...

For those new to our show: We make observations.  Sometimes people disagree with what we see/think/believe.  That's discourse, and it's natural.  You're not supposed to just agree with everything and everyone.

In this episode, we share thoughts on the one thing society never really pushed but that we felt was important:  Negative testing, so we can truly know who's infected with what and take smart actions, rather than assumptive ones that harm society, in response to toxic social media fear.

As we get older we frequently remember what things were like with friends we grew up with.

In some cases we've been able to talk to them and make sure they're okay.  But not all of them were okay.

Note: Casual Talk Radio will restart its guest screener next week, and we expect guests back on the show near the end of the month.

Can't really describe it any other way.

No matter where I go, there seems to be a dominant lack of desire to actually work hard and be pushed to excel.

The result: I continue to search for places that are filled with that same competitive spirit we once had as a society.

We held off talking about 2000 Mules, but on Memorial Day it seemed a good, quiet opportunity.

Ultimately, it's a lot of smoke.

The problem isn't whether there was or wasn't interference.

The problem is why nobody bothered to investigate further with what was presented.

Other sites came out criticizing the use of stock footage.  Stock footage is standard in films, so no, doesn't really matter.  Those sites missed the point.

The point is, a lot was going on in the last quarter of 2020 and the first quarter of 2021 that nobody seemed to care about and a partisan agenda clearly formed.

A subordinate of mine once referred to me as a micro-manager.

A micro-manager is a person who has to scrutinize and manage everything someone else does - never has been the case with me.  Not even when I was young.

But I do push myself to be excellent and not settle for less.

I also get frustrated when I see others not sharing the same desire to give their best at what they do.

Here, I detail that story in a bit more depth.

Events of the past couple of weeks caused us to reflect on a key question:

What would the course of life have been like if COVID-19 wasn't a thing?

Almost every decision we made in 2021 specifically was in response to the harm caused by the current US administration in their response to COVID-19. 2020 was painful, but nowhere near as much as 2021, as 2020 provided aid and assistance where it really counted and in 2021, the current administration started limiting access to this aid, somewhat like dangling a carrot ("we have these programs, why aren't anyone using them...?" when the reality is that the requirements were too strict for people to take advantage of them.)

We dived a bit into what got us into our current situation, including the decisions that caused us to end up in Oregon - and Oregon was arguably terrible.

In today's episode we talk about the recent announcement from Joe Biden about taxpayer-subsidized internet.

Many people across the Internet were actually not happy with this, and we believe it's because people have long believed that Internet is a luxury.

Here's the problem - Internet was a luxury, but "Big Business" has changed to essentially force it, yet wide swaths of America don't have decent coverage.

We dive into our rebuttals from a technologist perspective, and why we think Internet should actually be a utility by now - not just a paid utility, but an essential service as part of the infrastructure and pre-wired to every home for basic speeds (10Mbps up)/5Mbps down).

Everyone has an opinion.

The problem is that modern society has influenced people to treat dissenting opinions in a negative light instead of welcoming healthy dialogue and agreeing to disagree.

It is that has caused us to largely avoid any chatter about Roe v. Wade, because it's obvious that tech companies are just throwing out headlines to trigger people's emotions.

But it caused us to recall a story about how we felt when we were younger.

Dave Chappelle was performing at "Netflix is a Joke" which features a number of comedians when someone rushed the stage to attack him.

We find it mighty funny that security was nowhere to be found - despite when Maxwell was performing for BET, a lady dancing at the front row was escorted out almost immediately.

Chappelle would quip, "it was a trans man" which set off social media and caused more controversy.

The concern is the slant from the media coverage about this comment, rather than rightfully criticizing the lack of security and that someone openly assaulted someone doing their job in peace.

This incident and many others got us thinking: what if the decline of inspirational, uplifting music is at least part to blame?

When I created the community, it wasn't for the purpose of community, it was to document the journey and the research I was doing around non-traditional colleges.

Little did I know that it would organically attract a small community, and I received many who expressed appreciation for the information.

It got me thinking: the need for the community in the first place was mostly because of degree inflation and a desperation; so playing even a small part in helping people out validated what I needed to focus on doing.

This exercise got me reflecting back on the college journey for young adults, and the flaws with how college credits work - which is built to force you to stay in the system for 4-6 years and not flexible enough to support people who already have on-the-job experience.

Joe Templin has led an eclectic life.

As one of six kids (the only normal one, he insists) growing up in a small town and spending time on the family farm, Joe’s parents (John and Barb) instilled a love of learning, the outdoors, and a healthy disrespect for authority while still simultaneously embracing traditional values of hard work and “love thy neighbor but mind your own dang business.” This is Joe’s foundation.

He was severely asthmatic but through his work ethic and love of challenge has become a martial artist and ultradistance runner. He had a speech impediment but has built a career around communicating. This habit of overcoming limitations is a theme in his life and his writings.

Joe has three hooligans (Danny, Liam, and Colin) and is a very proud member of the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, having served multiple times as President of his local Foundation and Chapter Advisor. He has also served on the local, State, and National levels for NAIFA, is a Cubmaster (worst one ever if you ask his boys), and is involved with his local Autism Society. Serving others is important to Joe, because of how his parents raised him.

Can’t get enough of Joe? Visit The Intro Machine to read more than you can handle on how to set up a successful introduction-based business and put your excellence practice to work in your professional life.

Joe loves the Yankees. So of course he hates the Red Sawx… Poke him during the World Series at your peril!

Recent activities and interactions with companies have identified a troubling trend.

At one point, a company that was innovating, saving time, saving money and disrupting status quo was considered a leader in trends toward that same.

It's the reason we no longer have to pay for email - once a chargeable service - or for local long distance.

In this episode we cover this paradigm shift, and why it's bad for consumers, job applicants, and even other businesses.

We had some decently good calls this week.

The calls at least slightly increased our optimism about finally getting out of Nevada, so that we can continue our dedication to building the CTR brand, including Casual Talk Radio, into what we think it can and should be.

If things move forward as we're being told, the goal is to use the lessons learned from the painful moves of the past to complete this move.  The biggest difference: we're a lot smarter about packing than we were in youth.

For people that dropped cable TV like we did, you wouldn't have seen this incident live, we didn't.

Will Smith got completely set off over a benign joke told by Chris Rock.

Most defending Smith are women who thought it was chivalrous.

We felt that, when you can't take a joke, we've lost the plot as a society.

That's the story of this episode today.

Due mostly to a combination of government, mainstream media, and social media bias (which heavily leans "left"), the United States has devalued the political process.  The result is a diluted set of beliefs that cause people to vote for who they "like" rather than supporting the party that shares their beliefs and principles.

It also leads to illogical outcries like the request to get rid of the Electoral College - the last line of defense against a decline into unlimited socialism and chaos (as well as increased discrimination against minorities).

About the Author

Jennifer Peavey comes from a varied background of engineering, design and innovation. She finds the common ground between these fields and is known for making paradigm shattering connections across topics and groups that often do not interact.

Jennifer enjoys discovering the authenticity of people, products, and experiences. She gets to the essence by creating tangible experiences so all can learn the aspects of a problem no matter what their background or biases.

Jennifer cultivates these skills through a curiosity to learn new things and connect with others in an authentic way.

About the Book

Natural Reflectors explores how can we instill our actions with a mindset of intentional reflection to create our own process. The new process is taken from the power of nature's cycles and will allow us to become natural reflectors and bring more peace to our lives by empowering us to play the long game. It is worth the effort that it takes to do this, so we can protect ourselves from burnout and create space to engage with a life that matters to us.

In this book, you'll learn:

  • How a healthy process must have both elements of reflection and action.
  • There is a world of inspiration within nature on how to combine reflection and action from how an apple comes to be, to our own breathing
  • Principles on how to apply what we learn from nature to develop your own process

We've narrowed down the list of states to move to.  Now begins the hard part.

We need to find a state where they force the businesses to respect contracting rights.

Many of our peers in the business have allowed these companies to abuse them, which makes it harder for us to do our job.

We have ancestors who were forced to do things against their will.  It took decades to get past that (and we never really got fully past it).

What we're not going to support is a regression back to a world where people are told what water fountain they can or cannot drink out of (anecdotally speaking).

Once we get this part figured out, we'll be on our way.

View Details

Think about it.

"Overqualified" - when you have "too much experience" - that's a symptom of #age. Because you could only have it if you're older.

"Not a cultural fit" - companies whose demographics skew younger will encounter this issue when considering older applicants, because older demographics naturally will not culturally fit with younger ones, nor should they. That's why inclusion and tolerance were supposed to be a thing.

Applicant Tracking Systems - which require you to enter date of birth, but also require you to enter work history which could be used to discriminate against you by age and you'd never know it except that the company doesn't even contact you.

Images of hipster kids in skinny jeans all over your sites - you're communicating a message that you welcome people in those age ranges. You don't provide inclusive and neutral imagery as was the case in the past.

Our theory: there's an active push to position younger folks into roles that can exclude those that skew older, because those that skew younger are more likely to support liberal and/or socialist agendas, where those that skew older are more likely to support conservativism.

If true, this would help explain the rush to

  • social media being used as part of hiring screening
  • open floor plans and couches in the workplace
  • electric vehicles

Core business involves helping organizations do things better and stop wasting time and money.

Unfortunately, the pandemic has caused the majority of organizations - including governmental agencies - to go back to inefficiency, and many Americans have sacrificed their own personal freedoms out of desperation.

This isn't something we support, and it's a strong contributing factor to our move.

In this episode we dig a bit into that, and we'll continue to document the journey.

New Link: https://www.CasualTalkRadio.net - goes to the same place (for now).

Nobody likes to uproot and move.

So far I've lived in

  • California (left due to cost of living and poor job conditions)
  • Washington State (left due to cost of living and poor job conditions)
  • Colorado (left due to bad management)
  • Oregon (left due to incompetent management and overt racism)
  • Nevada

And now it's time to leave Nevada. It'll be 3 years in October.

Nevada has taught me that it doesn't really want people here. And I'm okay with that.

Now that I'm mentally committed, I have a few remaining calls to verify some things, waiting on the IRS to get my refund to me this week, then I'm pretty much on the way to the train station once I get my stuff packed up.

This time, I won't have to discard a lot of items like I had to do when I left Washington, Oregon and California. The California stuff wasn't too bad, but the stuff lost in Washington is irreplaceable. I've got things in place to prevent that from happening again.

My destination isn't known. What I can say, is that it'll be a place that allows American citizens to be free to live their lives. If I want a lawn, they'll let me have a lawn. If I need financial help, they don't make it too hard to get it. If I want to own a farm, I can do that. If I want to go to work, I can do that without the employer attempting to discriminate or force me to do anything, and if I bring my business (which I haven't decided to do), the state will welcome my business and provide opportunities to help my business thrive, so that it can pay taxes in return.

That's why my destination isn't known - because I'm not yet sure such a state exists.

Tune in Wednesday, as by then the IRS money should show up, and I'll have a better sense of the plan. Either way, the podcast will continue uninterrupted, even if it means I have to record via my phone.

View Details

This week, I was confronted with a decision tree.  I haven't yet committed to a decision one way or another.  But I'm strongly leaning towards moving out of Nevada.

The reasons are numerous - suffice it to say, the only reason I came here at all was to have easier access to a client that I was working with in 2019 when I moved here.

The pandemic, plus other situations, caused that client to start acting improperly, and there's no plan to go back.

Meanwhile, I'm owed a LOT of money from various governments, and can no longer wait here with the way the state is being run; thus the decision to make.

Fortunately, the new schedule for shows means, if I do decide to move, I can do it over the weekend and have zero disruption to the recording schedule.

Guests are being screened, and depending on tomorrow and Friday, we may have our next guest on Monday if everything works out.  We have one person who expressed interest and we're waiting to get completed sign-off from them; that follow-up will happen next week.

In this episode we break down the Whoopi Goldberg situation and briefly touch on the decline of interactions: how employers treat employees and candidates, how the government(s) treat their citizens, and how people treat each other.

We associate this directly back to the increasing refusal to just talk things out over the phone, which many people have stated is because they don't want to feel any emotional attachment or expression (despite the increase in emojis).

Meanwhile, the government(s) actively work to control and dictate rather than inform and empower people to make their own choices - and certain people prefer the safety of being protected, at the expense of not knowing how to handle negative situations properly.

As a result, people like Whoopi bottle up true feelings and forget how to stop and think about what they say before they say it, even if their intention is not to offend.

On the opposite side, people get more easily offended because they have distanced themselves from actually talking to other people and owning their life.

We're on target for our next guest to air on Monday's episode.  Thanks for being a listener - we appreciate you.  Share/subscribe if you think others would see value in our content and our approach to podcasting.

We had a great conversation with Mr. Smith about a variety of topics that everyone, regardless of race/creed/color/him nor her, has experienced with and/or thought about at some point. His energy and power of his messaging was refreshing and inspirational.

Discussing the missed opportunity with the stimulus checks affirmed that we felt the same way about what we could and should have done to truly "Build Back Better".

“Curator of a Bigger Vision Within,” Mark V. Smith specializes in speaking from his personal experience of trials and tribulations in life. His desire to chronicle CHOICES and share the “journey” of his life, resonates with everyone at our core personally and professionally.

Smith served as Vice President of MACCA (Middle Atlantic Career Counseling Association), and former RESEA (Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessment) facilitator for the Department of Labor. In those previous roles, he used his gifts to share words of perseverance that helped individuals push forward through adversity. Mark has received standing ovations when he spoke on topics such as GROWTH, PURPOSE, and LEGACY at venues across the country. An alumni of The Ohio State University, he has a strong passion for mentoring. Smith lives with his wife, Tasha, in Laurel, MD.

Currently, he is an award winning STRIVE (Support Training Results in Valuable Employees) trainer at the Center for Urban Families in Baltimore MD. His teachings and guidance have changed the lives of thousands of men and women not only in Maryland, but nationwide.

With his podcast, "The Process", he outlines and breaks down SITUATIONS we all go through, and offers insight on methods to defeat the storms in life. Known for his clever use of acronyms within his messages, Smith gives listeners a way to remember key points as we GROW FORWARD. Mark's signature vision statement “Your Why is Greater Than Your Situation Which is Part of Your PROCESS", gives us the perspective that we are always GROWING .

Gentleman's World is planning to have our next guest for Monday's episode.

Today, we provide our thoughts on the situation in Ukraine.  Many don't recognize the broad-reaching impacts of what's going on...but the truth is, this has been brewing for many years, having started (arguably) with the fall of the Soviet Union.  We can directly tie current events to that past event.

The question now is whether the current President of the United States is equipped to deal with it, since he was Vice President when Russia annexed Crimea (Obama Administration).  There may simply be a lack of respect from Russia that leads to some sort of conflict.

But separately...your PowerPoint/Keynote slide deck is there to be a visual aid for your presentation.

You should not be just reading off the slides.

You must create your own message, using the slide deck to support the message without reading from it.

Consider: you've probably been in at least one meeting where they've done the reading.  This means:

  1. They don't respect your time
  2. They don't acknowledge that you know how to read
  3. They don't really care to engage, they just want to stand up and dictate to you, "Buehler" style

Why would this engender trust or add to confidence?  Why should this practice be celebrated?

The key is to consider yourself the star of the show, not your slide deck.  Let's dive into that.

If a candidate tells the truth, they get assumptions placed about them that don't matter and aren't provably true.

In this episode we analyze and criticize this, and round out with a personal experience that had a similar impact.

Anthony Fauci was there back then, just as now, spreading a similar kind of fear, which resulted in White being banned from school and parents marching in the streets to keep him away from their kids due to a fear of spread.

That fear would later be proven to be unreasonable, and White's family spent the majority of his life until his death of AIDS trying to educate people around the virus so that we could make informed decisions rather than resorting to fear.
