Welcome back to the TMB Gaming Universe, where absolutely anything is on the table. We're buying or selling teams to win playoff games, before diving into one of the greatest bits ever on our show--NFL Fixer Upper. • The Bills eviscerate the Cowboys in what was clearly the statement game of the slate (2:31)

Last week we named the episode White Trash Nirvana. This week, we may have achieved podcast nirvana. We're talking hypothetical combined football teams. We're trying to solve refereeing using analytics. We're laughing at the ridiculousness of the College Football Playoff even though we're not a CFB pod. This really might be the peak of TMB's existence.

  • 49ers-Eagles aftermath (2:40)
  • Deciding whether a non-QB can ever truly be an MVP candidate (7:25)
  • A segment you just have to hear to understand how truly special it is: Frankenstein's Football Teams (17:45)
  • Is this officially the year it would be surprising to see KC in the Super Bowl? Is GB straight up a better team than them right now? (32:25)
  • Wild Card predictions in both conferences (49:17)
  • Game balls, including offense, defense and special teams (1:01:01)
  • Uniform games of the week, which somehow also led to us dissecting the insanity that was the College Football Playoff decision/discourse (1:19:11)
  • The longest list of head-scratchers and honorable mentions we've had to date (1:26:56)
  • And, of course, MNF/Cheap Seats! (1:47:13)

  • Uniform takes that had us at each other's throats! (1:10:58)
  • Three-way head-scratchers, which of course led to more Bills misery (1:18:40)

It was a very eventful NFL Sunday, as is the case whenever the league randomly decides to abstain from bye weeks in the middle of the season. We had a rash of injuries, some unexpected losses and a MetLife Stadium game for the front pages of all the history books. Let's talk football, shall we?

Cale said it on the pod, so we'll say it in the description: one of the best weeks of football in recent memory?! And to kick off the 2023 NFL season in style, we're picking the NFL teams, draft style, in order of who we think will get us the most wins in 2023. We'll also talk life a bit, give out some head-scratchers of the offseason and maybe even look ahead a bit to the fine season we're about to see unfold. What more could you wish for?

TMB is launching into our offseason content with an absolute BANGER. We’re talking anything and everything on our minds surrounding the transactions and storylines that have played out since the confetti dropped in Arizona last month. That means we’re getting deep into the weeds on Aaron Rodgers’ desires to play for the Jets. Explaining why the trade involving the number one pick might be good for both the Panthers and the Bears. Breaking down the arms race in the NFC as the 49ers and Eagles are shifting pieces around on defense. There are too many other topics to list, so just hit the play button!

Thanks for listening to Episode 63! It was nearly the longest podcast in TMB history… but we had to break it up into two parts because the full file was too large to be published. And many are already saying they’re the greatest two parts in our illustrious catalog.

We spent the entire season chronicling the wackiest moments of professional football, so now we get to enjoy the fruits of our labor while handing out some hardware. It’s the Third Annual TMB Awards Podcast, the only show without a crazy Cale-inspired episode title (although if it did have one, it would have been “Thin Veneer of Cornball”). And of course, welcome back special guest, TMB guru and miserable Bills fan Nolan Hughes. Sit back and enjoy!

  • Most Impressive Physical Feat (2:43)
  • TMB Unsung Hero Award (7:46)
  • Most Likely to Regress to the Mean (14:30)
  • Kliff Kingsbury Coach Who Probably Should Have Been Fired (22:15)
  • Jamal Adams Instant Karma Award (33:55)
  • Funniest QB Cameo (40:29)
  • Most Dysfunctional NFL Franchise (48:59)
  • Obi-Wan Kenobi “You Were the Chosen One” Award (1:05:45)
  • Nolan Hughes-Plato’s Closet Offseason Activity of the Year (1:14:10)
  • Archduke Franz Ferdinand Powder Keg Award (1:22:05)

The sun has set on Super Bowl LVII, but we are still trying to make sense of exactly what we saw. Well, aside from the Chiefs winning and the Eagles losing, obviously. It was a game with a ton of offense, lots of momentum swings and one call that people seemed to hate at the end of it, but we’re here to tell you every reason the game actually swung the way that it did and what it all means. For the final time in the 2022 football season… let’s have ourselves a TMB.

This is a very different TMB than we are accustomed to producing… but it’s one of our all-time favorites. With one game left to determine the football season, we’re going through and picking out all the mini-matchups and X-factors that we think can decide the fate of the Lombardi Trophy. We can’t wait to see which of these end up mattering and whether or not something we barely picked up on will end up mattering the most of all (spoiler alert–probably will happen!) Here’s the rundown:

  • The number one matchup to watch in both of our minds: Patrick Mahomes (and his ankle) against the Eagles’ pass rush (1:35)
  • How will Philly game plan for the Chiefs’ passing attack? (11:50)
  • Can KC slow down the short/intermediate passing game? (19:36)
  • Who steps up in late down situations? (30:27)
  • Will any singular running back pop off? (47:19)
  • Will rushing from the quarterback position play a meaningful role? (52:02)
  • Breaking news reactions, bonus discussion and predictions! (1:01:12)

  • Thoughts on the Chiefs’ close win over the Bengals (2:29)
  • Was there an NFC Championship Game too? (26:31)

The Yearly Fantasy Football Rant

We made it halfway to 100! NFL Week 13 has (mostly) passed and that means hopes and dreams are being dashed across the country both on the gridiron and… the fantasy gridiron. • Justin Herbert showing he's a little more than a "social media quarterback" (12:32)
  • What do we do with the last two NFC wild cards? (18:01)

Nearly at the halfway point of the 2022 NFL season, is it reasonable to say we've learned anything yet? Well, who knows, but we're trying to act as if we have. We recorded a podcast in a state of chaos--Jackson returning from a night of editing Dominican baseball highlights and Cale returning from MetLife Stadium with a Grade 3 sunburn. So let chaos reign!

  • How Sunday highlighted the disparity between the league’s top three teams and the rest of the pack (1:04)
  • Why a setback for the Giants wasn’t exactly a surprise (7:00)
  • Examining the disaster that the 2021 QB draft class has become (11:25)
  • We were right that the South would be chaos… just the wrong conference (21:26)
  • Checking back in on the old man quarterbacks continuing to suffer losses (30:21)
  • What do we make of the New Orleans Saints? (42:10)
  • Game balls, including offense (45:36), defense (53:24) and special teams (59:18)
  • The uniforms that stole our hearts in Week 8 (1:01:00)
  • Why taking one’s helmet off in celebration is a head-scratcher, but maybe not in the way you’d expect (1:04:49)
  • Looking ahead to Monday Night Football (1:13:40)
  • …and previewing Week 9 with some ticket price assessments! (1:13:42)

The Detroit Lions—everyone’s favorite 1-4 ragtag squad in all the land—are the subject of this week’s pod, and we’ve got a Michigander through and through to break them down. FOX 47 Lansing’s Thomas Cook joined us for:

  • A big-picture analysis of what’s gone wrong for the Lions early in 2022 (2:45)
  • Why injuries are an insufficient excuse for the losses that have piled up early in the season (5:52)
  • Whether Dan Campbell’s “Campbellisms” and aggressive decision making are starting to wear thin (8:13)
  • The levels of optimism among the Lions and their fans regarding any better things to come (14:35)
  • Evaluating No. 2 overall pick Aidan Hutchinson’s debut through five games (19:00)
  • Diagnosing the bottom-ranked Detroit defense and how it can possibly be fixed (21:03)
  • Talking about the most pleasant surprises on this team, namely first-year OC Ben Johnson and breakout receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown (22:58)
  • Jared Goff’s performance and how he fits into the long-term picture with the Lions (27:57)
  • Projecting some breakout candidates for the second half of the season and what an optimistic projection for the team looks like (33:17)
  • Guessing how many wins the Lions end the season with… and a special prediction segment about our beloved Syracuse Orange to go with it (37:38)

Prepare yourself for the most delirious episode of TMB yet… the first ever recorded fully after midnight following a football Sunday. Week 5 brought some expected chaos, so Cale and Jackson made sure to bring the chaos to the podcast studio as well. This week’s topics consisted of:

  • Attempting to make some sense of the NFC playoff picture (1:30) and who, if anyone, we expect to fall off (1:30)
  • Shuffling through the mess of teams sitting at 2-3 in both the AFC (9:35) and NFC (17:33)
  • A predictable side tangent about bad quarterback play and the sad state of the Chicago Bears (21:28)
  • Shifting over to the funny list of 3-2 teams and attempting to instill faith in a select few of them (27:37)
  • Asking the painful question… how long is the leash for Dan Campbell in Detroit? (31:12)
  • Getting fired up over the sudden improvement from the New York Jets (43:21)
  • One word predictions about the AFC South (50:43)
  • Game balls, including offense (51:20), defense (57:41) and special teams (1:04:50)
  • The triumphant return of the Pat the Patriot uniforms and why Jackson is giving a preemptive weekly award for the first time (1:13:28)
  • Breaking down the week’s head-scratchers, which seem to be getting worse as the year goes along (1:19:40)
  • Jackson’s inaugural attempt to fit three segments into 60 seconds insert eye emoji (1:32:44)

It's officially cold and flu season, but both hosts falling ill wasn't enough to stop the TMB train! Week 4 was somewhat of a regression to the mean across the NFL, so we're here to sort out what it means for the season as a whole. Listen on to hear thoughts about:

Week 3 flipped what we thought we knew about football on its head in more ways than one, so our attempts to make sense of it all created an instant classic of an episode. There’s also an endless string of side tangents and Easter eggs strewn throughout the pod (did you see the Vikings fan with the crazy tattoos?)... so you’ll have to keep your ears finely tuned. Topics include:

  • Whether there’s any reason for long-term concern following the surprising losses by the Bills and Chiefs (1:28)
  • Why injuries are ruining an otherwise wonderful start to the football season (13:06)
  • The ridiculous numbers behind the Lamar Jackson contract season MVP tour (20:56)
  • The most epic Cale’s Corner in the history of our show, centering around the wide receiver position (29:13)
  • Game balls (48:06), defense (58:19) and special teams (1:06:20)
  • …nice wit it? (1:13:05)
  • Picking some superlatives from what was admittedly a bit of a disappointing uniform weekend (1:15:50)
  • Some excellent head-scratchers to conclude a head-scratchy week (1:22:20)
  • And some things to get excited about heading into Week 4! (1:31:35)

How about a new podcast series? TMB is endeavoring to do deep dives on individual teams and their storylines for as many football franchises as we can throughout the season. It’s a chance to talk to people who know these teams as well as anybody and explore topics our normal format typically does not. To kick it off, we had a tremendous conversation about the prohibitive Super Bowl favorites, the Buffalo Bills, with WKBW Buffalo Bills reporter James Kattato. Topics include:

  • James’ experiences so far covering the Bills and how they’ve matched up to his expectations (2:05)
  • How the Bills are handling the weight of being preseason Super Bowl favorites (4:00)
  • Why Josh Allen is the perfect fit for this team and this city (6:40)
  • Breaking down the makeup of the outstanding receiving corps the Bills have been able to assemble (12:17)
  • How the Topps shooting has brought the city closer together and the impact it has had on the team (16:24)
  • The impact bringing Von Miller into the locker room has had, particularly on the rest of the front seven (25:39)
  • What the Bills have done to improve their run defense this season, something that was previously a bit of a weakness (33:27)
  • How young players in the secondary are stepping up and owning their roles (38:01)
  • How the Bills respond to adversity, including the Bobby Hart suspension in the aftermath of Monday Night Football (42:59)
  • What this team will need to do to win a Super Bowl–and what could stop them from doing it (48:05)
  • James’ quick prognosis of the Jets, as a lifelong fan (51:24)
  • Whether the Bills can indeed win the Super Bowl, according to James (53:31)

It’s a training camp extravaganza, TMB style! Cale and Jackson are taking a break from their big boy jobs to deliver their thoughts on all things early August, before a new season of TMB truly gets into swing with the arrival of football season. The guys tackled some “Fact or Fiction” hypotheticals, while discussing:

  • The six-game suspension handed down to Deshaun Watson and our instant reactions about the message that sends to outside observers (2:24)
  • Which rookie wide receivers Cale expects to shine most in 2022 (10:25)
  • The incredibly poor optics of the implementation and subsequent removal of the independent study clause in Kyler Murray’s contract (19:54)
  • Whether the Falcons have become the football equivalent of Steve Jobs with their gigantic receiving corps (28:43)
  • Should we be buying in on the hype train for the Miami Dolphins? NOTE: This episode was recorded prior to the suspension of owner Stephen Ross and removal of draft picks for tampering with Tom Brady and Sean Payton. (38:29)
  • Are there any teams out there that still make sense as a landing spot for Jimmy G? (46:03)
  • Just HOW excited Cale feels we should be about Trey Lance’s de facto rookie season (50:50)
  • How the soap opera of an offseason they just completed will affect the 2022 Tampa Bay Buccaneers (52:55)

We've teased it. You've nervously awaited it. And finally, it's here.

The Tuesday Morning Blitz has been built on a number of quirky identifying features, but perhaps none more so than our love of football fashion. We're just a couple of guys that care about the visual appeal of the games we spend our Sundays watching, after all. So amid the earsplitting silence of a football offseason, it was finally time to release our official NFL Uniform Rankings. Cale and Jackson went through team by team, starting from the very bottom, and found that there were some agreements and some serious disputes. Stick around all the way through Part 1 (teams 17-32) to find out which was which!

  • Late-breaking NFL Draft takes, in a segment we’re calling “Shine and Shade.” (3:24)
  • Tying up loose ends in the world of professional football—both NFL and non-NFL related (45:58)
  • The first-ever installment of “Truth or Trifle?” (56:22)

  • The teams under the most pressure to hit on their first-round pick(s) (40:34)

Despite savage illness (Jackson) and debilitating lack of sleep (Cale), the TMB duo rallied together to put out a podcast this week for you, the fans. And the NFL news carousel has only continued to spin faster and more out of control as April has begun, so the range of this episode’s discussions was accordingly quite large!

  • The deal that almost was (apparently) between Tom Brady and the Miami Dolphins (9:24)

There wasn’t much happening on the football field this week, but the NFL still absolutely dominated the news cycle. Though the “Big Game” is fast approaching, the league is also at a crossroads in its diversity hiring practices, and the head coaching picture is approaching fever pitch. Cale and Jackson did their best to take a snapshot of the league as it is this Super Bowl week, and the conversation included:

  • The Brian Flores lawsuit alleging racial discrimination in hiring practices, which has drawn contradictory responses from the NFL in a matter of days ()
  • An in-depth breakdown of the head coaching picture, with seven hires made, one appearing imminent, and another still up in the air (12:54); jump ahead for thoughts on the Broncos (13:41), Jaguars (17:30), Bears (22:34), Saints (26:38) and Dolphins (29:59).
  • The boys’ most nostalgic Tom Brady anecdotes, after the G.O.A.T. officially announced his retirement last Tuesday (34:18)
  • ...and finally, a Super Bowl matchup analysis, followed by the TMB official predictions! (41:52)

Twenty-one weeks after this podcast set sail, the Super Bowl matchup is set... and it includes the Cincinnati Bengals. Cale and Jackson, floored as they were by this bulletin, made their way to the Newhouse School studios to talk about Championship Sunday. They break down:

  • Just how amazing it is to us that the Bengals have made it to a Super Bowl (0:14)
  • An unfathomable second-half collapse by the Chiefs and how significant that is for legacies (5:41)
  • Gambles paying off across the board for the NFC Champion LA Rams (18:35)
  • A painful end to a spirited 49ers run, which would appear to signal the end of Jimmy Garoppolo’s time in red and gold (25:30)
  • Game balls, including offense (36:32), defense (43:56) and special teams (48:53)
  • Healthy debate concerning which uniform game of the conference championships was more visually appealing (50:29)
  • The head-scratchers that led to the demises of Kansas City and Santa Clara (54:41)
  • Brief reflections on NFL head coach musical chairs—full breakdown coming next Tuesday! Oh, and yeah... Tom Brady retired from football (1:00:45)

All we can say is WOW.

With three games decided on last-second field goals and an overtime touchdown sealing the fourth, the material to dissect was readily available. Jump ahead to hear thoughts on:

  • Game balls, including offense (40:00), defense (43:39) and special teams (48:25)

Lots of teams clinched, lots of others folded, and one of the great receivers of the past decade did a striptease. You might say there was a lot to discuss on this week’s TMB, and Cale and Jackson did their best to make sense of it all. Some of the wild directions the conversation took on:

The football season is coming down to the wire, and that means at long last, the landscape of the NFL is starting to clear itself up a bit. In a week where everything in the NFL was in flux, TMB is proud to present an episode as full of ridiculousness as any so far. Cale and Jackson were able to keep family pets out of their home studios long enough to deliver their takes on the good teams, the bad teams, and a whole bunch in between! The topics of discussion included:

  • A dominant Dan Campbell win over Arizona and just how much trouble the Cardinals now find themselves facing (1:41)
  • The week that was in fourth down decision-making and whether we should be bemoaning “analytics” (10:28)
  • Some personal content updates and earnest pleas to our listenership! (21:54)
  • How scared the rest of the NFL should be about the apparent resurgence of the Chiefs, especially on offense (24:00)
  • What the Patriots-Colts game Saturday night tells us about the bigger picture in the AFC (28:34)
  • Game balls, including offense (35:05), defense (39:52) and special teams (46:26)

School’s out for winter break, and that means this is the last in-studio episode of TMB until the playoffs. But thanks to the football gods themselves, it was an incredible week of content to go out on! Cale and Jackson went extremely long this week as per usual, but frankly, this episode could have been seven hours and the laughs wouldn’t have stopped. Here are just a few of the highlights of the conversation:

  • Whether Sunday’s loss in Tampa was a net positive or negative for the now must-win Buffalo Bills (2:18)
  • A long overdue top-to-bottom discussion of the very dangerous Green Bay Packers (11:30)
  • Attempting to make heads, tails, or just anything out of the AFC North (17:51)
  • Urban Meyer talk... grab your popcorn (26:34)
  • Game balls, including offense (37:35), defense (42:52) and special teams (49:39)
  • Head-scratchers—some of the very best we’ve seen to date (54:14)
  • The Uniform Games of the Week (1:01:33)
  • And the Monday Night Football Uninformed Recap—which is actually an attempt at a recap, for once! (1:07:12)

As a November to remember officially comes to a close in professional football, Cale and Jackson were ecstatic to be back in their Newhouse School studio to talk about the wackiest events between the white lines. And as Cale said at the end of the recording, one could simply look at all the peaks in the audio waveform to determine that this episode was a hilarious one. The topics:

  • Although we believe power rankings are dumb, there’s a team we believe should be at the top of every list of power rankings this particular week (1:52)
  • Our impromptu, unofficial list of NFL contenders at the two-thirds mark of the season (6:34)
  • The languishing Baltimore Ravens offense (10:15)
  • The surge we’ve seen from the Patriots, and where they stack up against the rest of the AFC (15:46)
  • A delightful, inexplicable tangent about the Bengals defense (23:09)
  • Why Jackson is DONE putting his hopes into any teams hovering around .500 (26:17)

For the first time in the eleven-week history of the Tuesday Morning Blitz, hosts Cale and Jackson tragically had to record over Zoom, due to the minor logistical issue of 2,500 miles separating them on Monday. Yet distance is no object when two gentlemen share a passion for breaking down football storylines, so this episode promises to deliver all the zany TMB content you know and love. The topics of discussion this week were:

  • The extent to which Cale believes running backs DO matter (2:11)
  • Our vindication concerning the Tennessee Titans after their deceiving wins the previous couple weeks (6:31)
  • An elaborate metaphor centered around Corinne Bailey Rae, because... reasons? (11:35)
  • Some long overdue Philadelphia Eagles love, and some side debates about whether the Cowboys or Birds have a more promising window moving forward in the NFC East (16:28)
  • Game balls, including offense, with an array of honorable mentions (26:36), defense (39:49) and special teams (44:25)
  • The head-scratchers of the week, which unfortunately focused on some familiar punching bags (46:56)
  • Our best uniform games from the weekend (55:36)
  • And the patented Monday Night Football Uninformed Recap! (58:14)

We’ve officially hit the double digits, friends. Week 10 (and concurrently, episode 10) brought us lots more confusion, some hideous blowouts, and a lot of enjoyable discussion topics! That meant Cale and Jackson had to spend some time in the podcast studio cranking out a podcast decked out with typical TMB hilarity. This week’s laundry list included:

  • Why we think some games, particularly from last week, can be completely ignored (1:13)
  • Why statement wins also sometimes aren’t as impressive as they look on the surface (3:30)
  • The incredibly befuddling season the Seattle Seahawks are having, featuring a Tuesday Morning Reading from Russell Wilson himself! (8:27)
  • Why Tampa needs Antonio Brown and Rob Gronkowski back PRONTO (13:03)
  • Our first (and probably only) installment of Halftime, a.k.a. Jackson doing his homework for Radio Sportscasting on the air! (18:36)
  • Game balls, including offense (22:31), defense (32:54) and special teams (37:26)
  • Our best uniform games from the weekend, followed by a Jaguars uniform discussion that will reverberate throughout the annals of history (42:12)
  • The week’s worst head-scratchers, which includes a personal anecdote that was so egregious, it couldn’t go ignored this week (49:48)

We’re at the midway point of the 2021 NFL season... and we’ve come to the conclusion that we know absolutely nothing about the teams we’re watching, where things are headed or anything in between! But fearless hosts Cale and Jackson nonetheless tried their very best to draw out some kernels of truth from the mystifying week it was in professional football. This week’s Countdown includes:

  • An admission from the two hosts that we do not understand what is happening in the league right now (0:15)
  • A wide-ranging discussion of the AFC playoff picture, which somehow involves ELEVEN teams with winning records at the moment (2:39)
  • Homer talk about the Patriots for the third week in a row (11:02)
  • Discussions of some teams that have been completely miserable the past few weeks and how, if at all, their problems can be solved (17:08)
  • Why Thomas Edward Patrick Brady Jr. Is currently our overwhelming favorite to win NFL MVP at 44 years of age (29:10)
  • Game balls, including offense (31:48), defense (36:29) and special teams (42:02)
  • Head-scratchers... EVERYWHERE (45:54)
  • Our favorite uniforms on display during the Week 9 action (52:34)
  • And a discussion of what promised (at the time) to be a very boring Monday Night Football game—especially without another chance to enact the ManningCast Curse! (56:57)

Dear Friends,

We have returned with another BANGER of an episode on this fine Tuesday. We regret only to inform you that there wasn't time to put timestamps in the description due to editor/host Jackson calling a college basketball game Monday night. BUT... the Blitz is better than ever this week. MIKE EFFING WHITE is all the rage in the streets, plus a bunch of wild stuff went down Monday right before we pressed the record button. There's no better way to spend your morning, so just press the play button!

Every game was a blowout and the boys were struggling for television access, but hosts Cale Clinton (@CaleClinton) and Jackson Roberts (@jrobertsbsbl) were undeterred! They broke down the gridiron from back to front in a typically humorous TMB way. Among the topics covered from this week:

  • The balance of power across the NFC, where the Cardinals have thrown a fun wrench into an already crowded picture (1:14)
  • Why Derrick Henry has broken Cale’s brain, PLUS whether or not we should all be sounding the panic alarm on the Chiefs’ 2021 season (7:55)
  • Some obvious positives for the Patriots to take from a 54:13 thumping of the Jets, and a couple reasons to still be hesitant about their playoff hopes (18:33)
  • Deciphering which NFL fan bases should feel the most misery at this moment in time, as well as the return of Tuesday Morning Reading! (25:09)
  • Game balls, including offense (35:05), defense (44:51) and special teams (49:23)
  • Our NFL wardrobe eye candy from the weekend (50:15)

Did you think Week 6 was a slightly boring week of football? You might have a point... but we GUARANTEE this episode of your favorite football podcast will make up for that slightly drab Sunday. Yes, Monday Night Football might have already accomplished that feat, but of course the TMB boys hadn’t yet seen that game! So instead, we talked about:

  • Why the Patriots were incredibly lucky to be in a position to beat the Cowboys, but should also feel extremely disappointed they let the game slip away (1:10)
  • How the Ravens-Chargers and Browns-Cardinals games mirrored each other in more ways than one (7:07)
  • A takeaway from a game we know you all were paying close attention to—Lions vs. Bengals!!(20:13)

Fear not... Cale and Jackson were back in the same living room on Sunday afternoon. And as it turns out, that afternoon happened to be one of the craziest sports fan experiences in recent memory. So it was safe to assume the two would have a lot to discuss in the podcast studio on Monday. Here were some of the topics covered:

  • The sheer insanity that was the evening on Sunday, including (brief) personal vignettes from Christian Vazquez’s walk-off home run in Game 3 of the ALDS (0:15)
  • How the Bills were able to establish themselves as early AFC favorites against the Chiefs on Sunday Night Football (2:08).
  • Why Chiefs-Chargers in Week 3 had already told Cale everything he needed to know about the AFC West race as it stands right now... and a deep dive on the Chargers’ offense while the topic was fresh (7:29).
  • The reasons a Cardinals win over Santa Clara in Week 5 was still impressive, even if it wasn’t exactly a blowout (17:54).
  • A wild and wacky week in the world of special teams (21:46).
  • Game balls, including offense (23:22), defense (28:18) and special teams (31:17)!
  • Our favorite sets of uniforms on the same fields this week (36:25).

The Tuesday Morning Blitz was read by tens (maybe even dozens!) of adoring football fans in its inaugural 2020 season, so host Jackson Roberts decided it needed to be converted to a podcast. Cohost Cale Clinton writes about the sport for Football Outsiders, and he's also Jackson's classmate at the Newhouse School of Communications. So the two figured they'd join forces and electrify the football podcasting universe, which feels inevitable after listening back to Episode 1. Some things that were discussed:

  • An introduction to ourselves and the format the show will follow (0:14)
  • Our FOUR strongest takeaways from Week 1 between the white lines (1:52)
  • The offensive, defensive and special teams recipients of the infamous TMB game balls! (17:22)
  • A discussion of the finest aesthetics on display during play Week 1 (26:14)
  • ...and the one moment that made each of us scratch our head from Sunday! (29:41)

Plus, we made our wild predictions for Monday Night Football, which alllllmost came true, and signed off in style. We're stoked to bring you 21 more episodes on Tuesdays from now until the second week of February!
