join us today as we discuss energy takers! there are so many habits, addictions, people, traits, external factors that may not serve us - leaving us feeling drained. we can call these energy takers, devil energy, or just sh*t that doesn’t make us feel good. how often do we identify these and make an active effort to remove as many of them as we can? some may be out of our control, but in society we have to focus on what we can do to feel our best. 🗣️ FOLLOW your host on Instagram: @lexblackb — wellness coaching with lexi: www.healingandholisticlifecoaching.com — SOCIETY IS SUS MERCH CAMPAIGN: https://www.bonfire.com/store/society-is-sus/?utm_source=copy_link&utm_medium=store_page_share&utm_campaign=society-is-sus&utm_content=default — all my links: https://linktr.ee/healingandholisticwellness

join us today as we chat about how our culture is obsessed with improving all the time! do you find that you’re always trying to evolve and change? always trying to “fix” yourself and your weaknesses? While I think self growth can be awesome, empowering, and sometimes necessary - how often do we actually just meet ourselves where we are at? how often do we sit in our emotions? even the negative ones. It’s important to accept these ebbs and flows and accept who we are, not always trying mold into something better. theres a time and place to go on a journey to “heal” but with that healing, it requires self acceptance. 🗣️ FOLLOW your host on Instagram: @lexblackb — wellness coaching with lexi: www.healingandholisticlifecoaching.com — SOCIETY IS SUS MERCH CAMPAIGN: https://www.bonfire.com/store/society-is-sus/?utm_source=copy_link&utm_medium=store_page_share&utm_campaign=society-is-sus&utm_content=default — all my links: https://linktr.ee/healingandholisticwellness

Feelings can be overwhelming. Join Lexi after a tough week of intense emotions and feeling very bummed to chat about accepting feeling disappointed. In a world that is constantly turning and stops for no one, it can be easy to want to push ourselves to get over something; to push our feelings in a closet without truly feeling them. While the truth is, life can be unfair, we are going to feel such a wide array of feelings, we are allowed to say wtf is going on! Feelings are one of the only universal occurrences, so lets feel them & grow!! Society may be sus, but our intense emotions are a collective experience we need to embrace.

Seriously does anyone know?! Who are we in debt to? Where does it GO?! Today we chat about how to not take ourselves so seriously when we think of all of our life stressors such as credit scores, money, or our social status. Sadly, a lot of us in society are set up to work long hours to provide for ourselves and honestly just afford to live. While I may not have a solution to the grand issues of wealth in our country, I want everyone to know they are not alone. Money may exist and determine a lot in our life, but at the end of the day we are a tiny speck in the universe. So take a deep breath and tell credit karma to gtfo for a minute.

After a week of less hours at work and feeling a little unmotivated, Lexi opens a discussion about how we tend to define our worth by what we have "accomplished." We are so much more as humans than our degrees, our jobs, our achievements on paper, and we should practice self love even on our low energy days. Being productive can mean so much more for ourselves than "getting things done".

Being uncomfortable is not always going to feel the best as a human existing in society. We want to feel safe, confident, and sure of something. However, this does not always mean we are happy with these decisions or they are in our best interest. When we get uncomfortable and leave our comfort zone, that is where we often see the most growth. Here we can discover more about our inner being a break away from things that have always been comfortable to us. Whether that's leaving a relationship, quitting your job, trying that new activity, meeting that new friend, or moving across the country, we need to attempt to do things that challenge us. There is often no reward without risk; join Lexi as we discuss how we need to get comfy with being uncomfy.

"Adulting" as we know it can present many challenges; working long hours, seeing the world through a new lens, taking on responsibilities we didn't have before, or having limited time to explore things we may want to try. As a child, one is encouraged to join a new club, try out for a team, and ultimately just have time to play around. When we reach a certain age, where does that innocence and play go?

Join Lexi as we discuss tapping into that inner child to embrace finding new hobbies as an adult, or exploring hobbies/activities we once loved. We are never too old to learn something new or too good to set time aside to embracing things that light our heart and soul on fire.

Well well well what do we have here!? Alcohol is something that is SO normalized in our society. Bad week? Drink. Long day at work? Drink. Nice day outside? Drink. You get it. While the moderate consumption of something enjoyable and stress relieving is not the problem, the way it is pushed as a coping mechanism, the dependancy forming habits, and way it is so accessable, IS. People are in jail for marijuana, yet alcohol is celebrated. With marketing and money, alcohol may seem impossible to avoid. Join Lexi in a conversation of the potential issues this substance can create and how we can make concious choices and improve our bonds with others and coping mechanisms.

Join Lexi as we discuss removing the societal stigma behind mental illness. This should not be some taboo topic we are ashamed of admitting or simply talking about. SO many individuals struggle and it is viewed in a negative light, when in reality, it is a very common and real issue. We must stop following sterotypes or underestimating people's ability. Your mental illness is valid and very real, and does NOT make you any less of a human being. As we as a collective release the stigma, more help and resources will begin to open up, we need them easily accessable for ALL.

Acknowledge. Listen. Educate. Empathize. Understand. Use your voice. White privilege is an innate ability acquired at birth; for ALL. No one is exempt from this. As white people, injustices are not faced for simply being. While all humans have valid struggle and no one is taking that away, no white person is struggling BECAUSE they are white...and that is the sad difference. Systemic racism trickles down into society engulfing a population with negative sterotypes, unfair disadvantages, and in some cases, a fear for one's own life. Join Lexi as we discuss how this impacts society and what we all can change to slowly overturn the very real racism that occours every single day.

Alexa, play Kids by MGMT. Cute little babies, amazing right? Sure, but that does not mean all feel the same way. Having children is a lifelong commitment, and while some are ready to embrace that in stride; others may be completely turned off by the mere thought of it. AND THAT'S OKAY. Society loves to tell us how we should be living, it loves to scream the "CORRECT" lifepath in our face. Our own well being and mental health? Who cares just do as we say!!!

LETS STOP THIS THINKING. Continue questioning norms as we dive into the societal expectation that is having kids.

What's your purpose in this life? Okay don't think too hard. Lexi discusses how she has struggled with this concept for years, as society always makes us feel as if we need some grand obvious purpose to define our life. Purpose can be eating a piece of toast, walking on the beach, singing songs poorly as you drive; you get it. Purpose does not need to be some obvious part of who we are, and furthermore, it can change daily! Find joy and peace in the little things that fill you with passion.

You can't xoxo. Listen to a personal trainer's point of view on the fitness community. Today we chat about the societal fitness standards and how they impede on us all. We are given an image of what health looks like, when in reality health has NUMEROUS dimensions and is not always seen from an external point of view. We are constantly given a body image of what we should aim for; but the harsh truth introduces demons like self loathing, disordered eating, and unrealisic standards that we will anxiously compare oursleves to. We cannot hate our body into "skinny". We must practice acceptance with it and thank it, repairing our relationship with the one who carries us through everyday life.

This week we dive into the complex world of gender. When you do not identify with the set of expectations society has provided for your biological sex, it can create some confusion and discomfort and often, mental health struggles. Sex may be the biological sense of how we were born, but gender on the other hand is a construct society has (ONCE AGAIN) shoved upon us. Many assumptions, forced identities, and behaviors are influenced by this concept of gender, yet none of these should exist. BUT BOYS WEAR BLUE AND CAN'T WEAR DRESSES?! Patty, don't start. Join Lexi as we discuss how gender should be free range for ALL.

How are we expected to be ourselves when we may not even know what the hell that means? In society, we are constantly reminded what we SHOULD be doing and who we SHOULD be. We claim to live somewhere where being your independant self is encouraged, when truthfully, it seems nearly impossible. Our lives can seem pre-written and as we age, it can be so easy to lose your true skin with multiple layers of masks applied. SO TAKE OFF THE MASKS (ok not all masks though, pls leave the face one on right now!!) Step out of the societal mold and question what it is that fills your soul with desire and passion. What makes YOU happy. How can we live for ourselves when we lack understanding of what that is?
