Pat Domangue interviews Jessica Morris author of Dewdrops: Morning Meditations to Cultivate Faith, Love, and Service and Higher Powered: One Woman’s Journey of Personal Eschatolgy. Higher Powered was based on her master’s thesis, Personal Eschatology: The End of My World as I know It.
Jessica’s story corresponds with our current My True Identity Series and our past, Women Of The Bible Series. Jessica carried a wrong identity of “I am a mistake” based on the unhealthy and unholy environment she was raised in, harmful words spoken to her, and painful things that happened to her while living as a daughter of an alcoholic minister. Her story also parallels with Tamar from Genesis 38:6-28. Tamar and Jessica were not protected or honored by the people God placed in their life to care for them. Eventually, their brokenness and unprotected-ness would force them in directions that were not their best decisions.
But God transformed Jessica’s life, story, and identity. She learned to reframe the story of her life when God began to speak to her, “Jessica, You are supposed to be here.”

Today, Licensed professional Counselor and Marriage and Family Therapist, Taylor Draughn joins Pat to discuss the identity of Unforgiven which is common for those of us with a “bad past” to carry with us into our new life as a Christian. Pat shares from her journey with Jesus and believing she was unforgiven for the first several years after her initial salvation. She now recognizes that she didn’t understand grace and how powerful and complete Jesus’ forgiveness was and still is. Taylor shares from her perspective and expertise as a counselor about how she sees this issue affect so many women in her practice.
In this episode, not only do we discuss the problems and issues for those who are in Christ to continue to identify as Unforgiven. We give you Bible verses that speak to the truth of the forgiven identity for those who are in Christ, and give practical ways we can release the old identity and embrace our new, “in Christ” identity of forgiven.

In our latestpodcast series, My True Identity. Pat Domangue, Bible Study Author and Women’s Ministry Leader teams up with Taylor Draughn, a licensed professional counselor, and Marriage and Family Therapist to address wrong ways we identify ourselves. Discover ways to detect wrong thinking and labels we might be wearing that do not line up with who we are in Christ.
Today we take a look into the woman at the well in John 4 and see how she could have easily identified with the “I am a failure” mindset and how we, as women often allow failures in our life to give us a similar mindset and identity. Divorce can make us feel like a failure and especially if we are in the Christian community. Parenting, especially mothering, can cause women to struggle with feelings of failure that can lead to a "I am a failure" identity. However, our sin, mistakes, and failures should never identify us.

Today begins a new HER Podcast series based on identity, our true spiritual identity, i.e. My True Identity. Pat Domangue, Bible Study Author and Women’s Ministry Leader teams up with Taylor Draughn, a licensed professional counselor, and Marriage and Family Therapist to address wrong ways we identify ourselves often based on the fact that we have a real spiritual enemy who works tirelessly to keep us from knowing and understanding our true “in Christ” identity.
Identity theft is a real issue in our world today. A person’s stolen personal and financial information can bring harm and devastation to their lives. Spiritual identity theft equally harms and devastates our lives. It affects our heart, mind, and emotions which effectively affects our physical and relational wellbeing. However, this real-life issue often happens under our radar and can go years undetected.
In our introduction to the series today, we focus on awareness and bringing the wrong thoughts and ways we identity ourselves to the surface. Taylor and Pat will help you detect wrong identities or labels that you might be wearing and help you take back what was stolen from you.
We would love to include your thoughts and questions into our discussion. You can send your thoughts and questions to us through my web-site contact form that I will add into the show notes for you. or go to https://www.onfire-ministries.org/contact

In today’s episode, we will be focusing on the historical and cultural context of the biblical author and his audience and recognize how much that helps us get to the point of interpreting and discovering the true meaning of the Scripture for us today.
This is the sixth episode in a How To Study The Bible podcast series. In this series, I share things I learned throughout the past twenty-three years in ministry and from ten years in Seminary getting a Bachelor’s degree in Christian ministry with an emphasis on women’s ministry and Bible study and a master’s degree in Biblical Studies as well. If you are looking to go deeper into the study of Scripture, you will find these episodes beneficial in helping you apply the information to your personal Bible study.
If you haven’t listened to the previous how to study the Bible episodes in HER Podcast, I encourage you to do that. The first of the series is How to Study the Bible and Find Healing and Encouragement for Yourselves where we cover some of the basics of Bible study and gradually look at topics that take us deeper.
Everything we learn about how to study the Bible sets us up to open the Bible and have God speak to us personally and intimately. To know and hear from God personally and intimately and to find that healing and encouragement for yourselves is the purpose behind this series.
Much of what we are looking at in the podcasts series is covered in detail in my Bible study book, DIG: Digging Into God’s Word, A “How To” Study The Bible Guide For Women. Here is the link 👉https://www.onfire-ministries.org/shoponfire/p/dig-bible-study-book.

This is Part 5 of a how to study the Bible series. In today’s episode, we are talking a lot about the problem we face when we bring our personal biases into our study of Scripture and how it can damage of at least negatively affect our ability to come to a right and true interpretation of Scripture especially when we are dealing with biblical tensions. We will address our biases and our need to identify them and then what to do with them once we identify them. We will also be looking at the fact that the Bible is filled with tensions and our need to approach Scripture as a student not the teacher.

This is Part 4 of a how to study the Bible series. In today’s episode, we are talking a lot about studying the Bible in the context. Context can tell you a lot about a passage. When I am talking about Context, I am talking about studying a specific word, phrase, verse or passage in the context where it is set. We want to pay attention to and observe the passages that come directly before and after it. Sometimes we can learn as much from what is before or after a passage as we can learn from the passage itself. We will also see how studying in context looking at one word in John 4:4 and continually expanding the study to see the surrounding contexts reveals the impartiality of Jesus.

In today's Thanksgiving podcast, I share my daughter, Taylor Draughn's, Licensed Professional Counselor, perspective regarding 3 ways to live with a grateful heart and thankfulness that reward and benefit us.
Reading the Bible and Psalm 119:105 reminds me that God’s word is personal, practical, and powerful. His word shines light onto our personal path to show our feet attached to our personal body the way to go. That is so powerful when God gives us a word that practically directs us in our personal lives. There is nothing like that, but we can’t experience that without reading the Bible.
Today we look at the absolute stunning beauty of Romans 8. I share the incredible gifts given to us as believers in Christ in light of the contrasting picture Paul gave us in Romans 7 related to the law, sin, and our flesh.
We often think about being devoted to God, but give little attention to the fact that God is devoted to us. Today I am answering the question, Is God Devoted To Me?

Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 13:13 - And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.Doing an in-depth Bible study on the topic of love is no easy task being that God’s word has so much to say about love which tells us that love matters to God.
Is there really any other kind of true wisdom than God’s wisdom? In truth all wisdom is from God. He is wisdom. Today I am sharing from my own personal search for God’s wisdom. James 1:5
The good thing about coming to the place of having no clue what to do, is it makes us keenly aware of how much we need God. I can’t count the times I have come to a place of sensing God doing something new with me in ministry over the past twenty years. God's Word teaches us that God's forte` is new.
Raised in the Christian faith, one of the most difficult attributes of God’s character and nature for me to understand was regarding healing until I went through a deep study of Jehovah Rapha, the Lord God who heals. After learning the theology of God as our healer, I experienced His healing in my life as well.
Thinking about God in such terms as our greatest cheerleader is probably not the way we commonly think about God or His word. (Luke 11:1-14; Luke 18:1-8) Sometimes God uses His word to correct us, strengthen us, comfort us, give us peace, turn us around, shake us up, and sometimes He cheers us on.
There will be a time when our ability to remember God and His work in our lives will mean everything to us. When will that time be? When we need Him to work in our impossible situations in our lives. Today I am sharing 5 important aspects of our remembering and practical ways to remember what God has done for us.
In Joshua 1:1-9, God called Joshua to leadership after Moses death. Almost every human holds some form of roles in leadership. We either lead with positive or negative impact. Our roles of leadership can result in success or failure. Joshua's story shows us what it takes to succeed and prosper according to God's word.
To appreciate your husband is best way to express your love for your husband because appreciation communicates respect. Appreciation is a vital element in a healthy marriage.
Queen Esther was a great example of a wise woman. She spoke with her husband in ways that opened her husband’s heart to her, that caused him to hear her, and then, to give her the requests she asked of him.
According to the original Hebrew language, an excellent wife is one of strength, might, efficiency, wealthy, and army. I love the strength the word portrays. Proverbs 12:4
Today, I am sharing practical and biblical lessons I have learned in 27 years of marriage.
As Christian wives loving our husbands and having a biblical marriage is probably pretty important to us. Titus 2:3-4 says the older women teach the younger women to love their husbands. Today I am sharing lessons I learned along the way.
Do you know what God gifted you to do? We can understand gifts of the Holy Spirit and spiritual gifts as a special qualification, anointing, and empowering granted to an individual by the Holy Spirit.List of spiritual gifts: Romans 12:6-8; 1 Corinthians 12:8-10, 28-30; and Ephesians 4:11-12.
Attending a multi-denominational event brought unity in the body of Christ to the forefront of my mind. In Acts the early church, with one accord experienced God’s power as they united their hearts and prayers together.
What does it really mean that God forgot? A study of the Hebrew term, remember. God remembered Noah and He said, I will remember their sins no more. What Does It Mean When The Bible Says God Remembered Or God Does Not Remember? Genesis 8:1; Jeremiah 31:34; Hebrews 8:12
Spiritual freedom began for me twenty-seven years ago, the day I said “Yes” to Jesus. True spiritual freedom comes from knowing the truth. (John 8:32) Sharing my journey to freedom in Christ. Do you know that true spiritual freedom? Find out how I experienced freedom from the bondage of alcohol.
Dear Woman, You are a unique expression of our divine Creator, predestined, purposed and planned for His pleasure and glory. God’s word emphasizes the beauty and worth of women from the onset of creation.
Today I am sharing my personal prayer guide I use in my prayer time. I call it, 10 Steps to draw close to God. Prayer is an essential and intentional element of relationship with God. It is how we communicate with God. And prayer gives us power in and over the circumstances of our life.
What is going on in your life today that you makes you aware of your need for hope? HOPE is a rare and precious treasure today because I see too many people living hopeless. Be sure to go to the free resources page of my website onfire-ministries.org and get the printable document with 25 Psalms of Hope.
We can trust in the Lord because He is faithful. However, Man’s fickleness in relying and trusting in God shines forth in the story of the sons of Rueben, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh in 1 Chronicles 5:18-26.
Today we are talking about what difference it makes that the Holy Spirit dwells in us as Christ-followers, and how we know He chooses our heart as His dwelling place. The challenge is to pursue God to know, understand and experience more and more of the Holy Spirit in us.
Through faith in Jesus we receive the promise of the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit dwelling in our hearts is the power to fulfill God’s calling in our lives.
Christian faith is based on who we believe more than what we believe. True Christian beliefs should always point to the person of Jesus. In reality, we can have faith based on deeply held beliefs in something other than Jesus.
There is no more powerful prayer we can pray for ourselves than Ephesians 1:17-19. When we prepare ourselves to study God’s word, prayer resides at the top of the “How-to Study God’s Word” list.
Today we are looking at Four Bible Stories About Unmet Expectations Being Redirected And The Benefits and how to evaluate your expectations. Acts 3:1-11; John 5:1-9; John 4:4-42; Mark 5:25-34
Have you ever heard anyone say, “God won’t put more on you than you can handle”?
Most of the time, there are two common denominators with people making this statement. First, their statement relates to difficulties or suffering. Second, they base their theology on 1 Corinthians 10:13. But Jesus told us that we will face troubles in this world. (John 16:33)
Looking at the Benefits of God's Word from Psalm 119 and God's personal invitation into relationship in Isaiah 55. Today we see how we need to read, study, learn, and know the Bible with the priority of growing our relationship with Jesus.

Three Things Hannah’s Prayer Teaches Mom’s About Praying For Our Children
Here are lessons I taught in my praying moms’ class from Hannah’s story when praying for our children, especially in times of desperation, 1 Samuel 1.
The best place to start to zero in on God’s parenting priorities for us is Deuteronomy 6:4-9, known as the Shema which reminds us of 2 major parenting priorities.
Are You Waiting On God To Fulfill His Promise?
Most of us would agree that waiting on God is one of the hardest parts of waling in a relationship with God. Galatian 6:9 is our encouragement and promise to hold on to until we see the fulfillment.

To honor Christ means to show or give Him the respect and esteem that He deserves. Studying biblical tensions of judging, we see that honoring Christ is primary. 1 Corinthians 5
Biblical tension related toJudging All Things as Paul taught in 1 Corinthians 2:15. Two chapters later in 1 Corinthians 4:5 he wrote judge nothing before its time.
Biblical Tensions of Judging Others – When I hear someone say, “judge not lest you be judged” or the Bible says, we aren’t supposed to judge, I immediately think, but the Bible also says, that a spiritual man judges all things.
Looking at the Biblical tension we often feel between standing for truth and walking out our call to love based on Jesus' message to the Ephesian church in Revelation 2:1-2 and the church at Pergamos, Revelation 2:12-17.
Our Christian faith is simple, yet complex. Just as our God is so beyond us yet came down to us. He is too holy for humanity, yet became human to share in our weaknesses. 1 Corinthians 13:12 says we can only know in part.
Where Do You See Yourself In Light Of What The Bible Teaches About Love?
