Heretical - "Holding an opinion at odds with what is generally accepted. "Deviant - "Departing from usual or accepted standards, especially in social behaviors." As a lifelong rebel in search of a cause, I've always been drawn to extraordinary and determined to find its' origin. Heretical Deviants are trailblazers who defy the status quo by leading others in example to live fulfilled lives by following their own set of standards and rules. Whether they be an entrepreneur, athlete, military veteran, weight loss champion, mental health professional, health care practitioner, business executive, musician, blue-collar worker, or a general all-around ass-kicker, every person I speak to on Heretical Deviants has a profoundly unique and powerful story to share that will provide guidance to listeners for learning to blaze your own trail. Vision, creativity, passion and know-how are something we all crave more of. I've been questioning the successful "Purple Cows" of the world for as long as I can remember to gain more insight and perspective to fuel my own personal drive and direction. Now, I'm bringing these interviews to life so you can listen along, ask questions, and find the inspiration you're looking for to break away from the herd and manifest the life YOU dream of, in your own personal style. This conversation with Priscilla Bourgault is brutal, vulnerable and wholehearted and is one of the most connective, liberating, and important conversations I've ever had.
Priscilla and Payton discuss parallel experiences with dieting, exercise and weight loss, perfectionism, shame, comparison and judgement, sexuality and identity, mental health struggles, going to therapy, relationships and personal growth.
We talk about social media influence, fat-shaming, body dysmorphia and body positivity, connection and belonging, disordered eating, validation, guilt, indulgence, hunger cues, the scale, grace, self-worth and happiness.

In my favorite episode yet, I sit down with Gareth Watkins, host of the Dissecting Dexter podcast. We indulge in conversation about the hit Showtime series Dexter and the recent 10 episode revival Dexter: New Blood. We chat about his journey breaking down the show week to week on his podcast, getting involved with hobbies you're passionate about to create art, his serendipitous conversations on air with Dexter writer and executive producer Scott Reynolds, and of course our theories and feelings about the key moments and endings of Dexter and Dexter: New Blood.

When he was six years old, Kacey McCallister was hit by a semi-truck and lost both of his legs. He went on to become a state champion wrestler, a 35x Spartan Race finisher, marathoner, father, husband, mechanic, author and motivational speaker. Kacey's motto is "Rise Up" and he inspires people across the world to embrace life's challenges with determination, persistence and positivity.
My personal favorite takeaway from this conversation with Kacey was discussing how bucking the system and doing things in your own innovative way can sometimes be the key to achieving your dreams. Hearing Kacey address how "living for yourself only takes you so far" puts things into perspective as to how fulfillment is found when we connect with, help and inspire others.
Kacey and I also discuss how to think outside of the box to find ways through hardship rather than defaulting to a victim mentality. Kacey shares how he uses his goals as a "true north" to guide him through road blocks in life, getting past the fear of failure to bamboozle our self-limiting beliefs, and the mountains that have been moved by his light-hearted humor. We also dive into accountability, knowing the difference between the controllable and the uncontrollable, leaning into uncertainty and challenge, training your mind with physical challenge, and being realistically positive and optimistic.

Joe Rinaldi is a Doctor of Physical Therapy who quit his job to become an Entrepreneur and build his online company Project Endure. Joe lives with a condition called Best Disease, which causes progressive loss of central eyesight, and is a huge reason for why he believes in doing hard things to build resiliency, leaning into uncertainty, and living in alignment with his values and his calling.
We talk about the necessity for endurance, the purpose adversity serves, his near death experience that changed his perspective on time, and living proactively instead of reactively. We dive into leaving good things for great things, why being your authentic self is the best way to make an impact, and how hardship is our greatest gift from the Universe.

Coming from humble beginnings, Jeramiah Solven enlisted in the Army in 2005, deployed soon thereafter, and while in Iraq experienced (how I interpret it to be) – an epiphany that caused him to start chasing his dreams and striving for his highest potential. He earned his Bachelor’s degree and quickly rose through the ranks to become an Infantry Officer. He continued to raise the bar for himself by landing a spot in the 75th ranger regiment where he served as a platoon leader and lead his team through many High Value Target Raids in Afghanistan, and on his fourth and final deployment, he served as an Infantry company commander.
He competed and qualified in the Army’s best Ranger competition and also designed a fitness program that was used to transform hundreds of soldiers into elite military athletes, (which he later published in his book titled The Whole Man Project). He’s completed an iron man, a marathon on a treadmill, a 103 mile ultra marathon, and now competes as a purple belt in MMA cage fighting. He has a TedX talk, hosts the Be The Leader Podcast, and now is responsible for transforming hundreds of lives through Conquer Academy.
This serendipitous conversation with Tony Reyes was magic and it’s such a pleasure to share.
In this episode, we discuss Tony’s #RELENTLESS 100 challenge, the power of extremism, building a healthy relationship with food and yourself, changing your beliefs through action, the effects of self-talk, shame and obesity, our mutual love for Bare Performance Nutrition, how he applies the Go One More mindset to his life, and why our mortality is the only reason we need to strive for our greatest potential.

On today’s special first episode of Heretical Deviants, we’re joined by Jeremy Miller. Jeremy works for Bare Performance Nutrition and is the Nick Bare Fitness Media Director. Jeremy is an extremely talented photographer and videographer and he’s also an avid runner. He’s completed an Ultramarathon, David Goggins 4x4x48 challenge, and is now training to run a sub-3 hour marathon at the end of this month at the Go One More Marathon. Jeremy is also releasing a documentary in the coming months called Chasing 400: The Grand Slam of Ultrarunning. Jeremy now films and produces YouTube videos as well as other content that highlights the famed fitness lifestyle of Nick Bare and behind-the-scenes footage of operations at BPN.
In this episode, Jeremy and I discuss ultrarunning and the origin of his passion for filmography, finding a connection to his goals, the importance of self-confidence, gaining experience through trial and error, and why doing things that suck is one of the most undervalued keys to life. We talk about how growth comes from life’s most trying chapters, our obligation to seek out opportunity and take chances on ourselves, the power of manifestation, our primal need to expend energy and how physical exercise and mental health are closely correlated.
