This week we started our Christmas Series: Rescue. For many, this is the time of year for Santa, gifts, lights, and the birth of Jesus. Many hear Jesus and a picture of a nativity pops in their mind. We see a cute baby in a manger with farm animals surrounded by shepherds, wisemen, and angels. Is that all Christmas is about?

We spent today unpacking one of the most famous Psalms in the world...Psalms 23. While most often quoted at funerals, we saw that King David's words are very much for the living as we are challenged to trust the good Good Shepherd more.

We focused on some of the theological truths of the resurrection, but we also saw how the resurrected Lord loved and pursued his followers despite their doubt, despair, and disappointment. As we continue on through our HIStory Series, we spent time today looking at Jesus's triumphal entry, His trial, and His crucifixion. We saw that Jesus's death was not an accident or unfortunate, but necessary. And the only way we can be made right with God.

We continued our HIStory Series. This week we spent time looking at how Jesus fulfilled all of the Messianic prophecies, yet was disappointing to the Jewish leaders of His time. Jesus was disappointing to them because he didn't meet their expectations or fit into the paradigm they had created for the Messiah. And Jesus often doesn't fit into ours as well.

We were encouraged this week by Vince. Vince and his family moved from the Pacific Northwest to Spanish Fork, UT to be a part of PlantUtah.com. They are spending this season preparing to plant a church in Utah, and we want to join in and pray for them as well.
We continue through our HIStory Series and this week we looked at the relationship between God and the nation of Israel while in captivity. Despite Israel's best attempts, they continued to fall back into the pattern of rebelling against God. Yet God remained faithful and continued to pursue. In fact, his thoughts for them were that of peace, not evil, to give them a future and a hope.

As we continue through our HIStory Series, we spent time today seeing a pattern with the nation of Israel. Despite having many different leaders and leadership styles, Israel and their leaders continued to fail while God continued to be faithful and keep the promises He made with them. We find comfort in that truth for us today as well.

We pick up this week in our story with the people of Israel in the wilderness, consistently complaining against Moses and God. Yet God remains faithful and even enters into a covenant with them declaring that they will be His special treasure. What in encouragement to know that God remains faithful even we are not.

As we continue our HIStory Series, we spent time this week looking out how God was Faithful to fulfill his promise to Abraham. God rescued Abraham's descendants from slavery and brought them our of Egypt. They were to be God's new people who would image him again on the earth. We will see how they do with that in the next few weeks.

This week we started our Summer Series called HIStory. We will be learning that the whole Bible is essentially a story...about God. It's God's story. We picked up this week finishing out John 14. Jesus has been preparing His disciples for what life would look like without Jesus being physically present. Last week, Jesus told them He was going away and preparing a place for them when they die, so they could be with God. This week, He told them He was preparing a place God to be with them right now, while they live. The point is that God wants to be with us now and forever.

As last week we saw Jesus on the throne, this week we saw Jesus leave his place and become a servant washing feet. Our challenge was more than us washing others feet, but also how do we keep coming to Jesus so that we could be clean.

This week we picked back up in our God Revealed Series as we are studying through the Gospel of John. We spent time today seeing how John used 2 passages from the Book of Isaiah to show how Jesus, through His Words and Actions, demonstrated who He was. Yet despite all the evidence many didn't believe or trust him, as we experience even to this day.

We concluded the second part of our Great Commission Series. We explored how Baptism doesn't save us, but it does sanctify us as we are given a new identity and a new family. Lastly we looked at how knowing we are deeply loved by God changes us, and that Jesus's teaching were ultimately different ways to love God and love our neighbor more. We closed out out time being reminded that God desires to dwell with us and that his presence is always near.

As we spent the last few weeks looking at Jesus's life after His resurrection, it made sense to look at His final words before His ascension. So we are spending a couple weeks studying the Great Commission in Matthew 28. The big idea is discipleship. What is it and how do we do it? We'll explore it together.

This week we spent time looking at John 21 as Jesus restored Peter. Peter had denied Jesus and not yet had a chance to speck with Jesus about it. We Jesus finding Peter, and having a conversation far different than Peter may have been expecting. Jesus loved him and wanted Peter to know how much.

As we spend time this season reflecting on Jesus's Death and Resurrection, we start the 1st week of looking at Jesus's Betrayal, Arrest, Trials, and the Denial of Peter. Although Judas and Peter tend to be the main characters in this part of the story, we did see that there were many other characters involved in sending Jesus to the cross. But it's how Jesus responds and interacts with the very people that betray and deny Him, that should give us all hope.

As we continue our Study through the Gospel of John, we spent time this week looking at Jesus's conversation with a group of Greeks. They had came to worship and celebrate the Passover in Jerusalem and, while they were there, wanted to see Jesus. Our goal is the same as the Greeks of our story. We wish to see Jesus, and we hope to communicate Him in such a way that He can be seen by others. Only when we look to Jesus, are we made whole, and God is glorified.

As we continue through our study in the Gospel of John, we spent some time to look at the larger Story of God. This story helped us frame the scene, including the tension, as Jesus rode in to Jerusalem for His triumphal entry. Jesus was nothing of what the people had been waiting for, and, in many ways, a deep disappointment. For many of us, Jesus may not be the Savior you were expecting, but He is the Savior you are looking for.

As we continue our study through the Gospel of John we took 3 weeks looking at the siblings Mary, Martha, and Lazarus. Jesus's interaction with them and the stories that surrounded their life provided sweet glimpses into Jesus's humanity and His love for them and us. This week we focused on the lavish gift Mary gave Jesus, the perfume she poured out on him. Jesus responds by giving her value and a new story.

We continued our story from last week involving Martha, Mary, and Lazarus. We left off with Lazarus still in the grave, but this week we spent time looking at how Jesus interacted with each mourning sister differently. And then Jesus gave a taste of the Kingdom to come be reversing decay and death, raising Lazarus from the dead. Jesus revealed his power over the most extreme affects of sin, which should give us all more hope.

As we continue our Advent Series, we look at the second gift from he Magi: Frankincense. We spent time understanding that frankincense was associated with the temple and the priests because it was the primary ingredient in the incense burned with the temple. Ultimately we saw how Jesus was a better temple and priest because Jesus is the presence of God that has come to us and he still intercedes for us before the Father. We now carry on the mission of bringing God's presence to those we interact with.
This week we pause from our God Revealed Series, as we are spending December focusing on Jesus coming into the world. We have named our Advent Series GIVEN because we are looking at the significance of the gifts given to Jesus from the Magi and how they show that Jesus is the true gift GIVEN.

As we continue through our God Revealed Series, we took some time to examine some of Jesus's statements He made about Himself. This text brought memories of C.S Lewis's famous quote "Lunatic, Lier, Lord" from Mere Christianity. As we discussed, Jesus made some very bold statements about who He was and what He came to do, which leaves us without the option of accepting him as just a good man. He had to be Crazy, Evil or everything He claimed...Lord.
This week we look at Jesus 3rd Sign as he heals the man by the pool of Bethesda. He had been lame for 38 years and Jesus asks him, " Do you want to be made well?" What a question to ask. What if Jesus asked us the same question?

As we continue our God Revealed Series this week we take a look at the conversation Jesus has with a woman at a well in Samaria. She was dismissed socially, despised religiously, and dishonored communally. But Jesus lovingly pursued her and showed her how to quench her hearts deepest thirst. It is a beautiful story.

These days it seems humans are more divided than ever, and there is no sign it's going to be getting any better. Our different ideologies, values, and opinions seem to be the key areas of division. Yet this week we see that the new community of Jesus followers living in Ephesus had experienced division as well. But Paul shows that through Jesus we are no longer need to be divided. We can come from our different points of view and meet at Jesus.

As we close out chapter 1 of the letter to the Ephesians we find Paul praying for the church in Ephesus. What Paul doesn't pray for is as powerful as what he does request of God. And for us today, this prayer should be ours as well.

This week we talked through how God lovingly pursued humanity by choosing a middle eastern couple in their 70's with no children, and He promised them that through their descendants the whole world would be blessed.

Jim Haendiges was our guest speaker. He challenged us when it came to how we view power, while showing us what love looks like. Only one person has modeled both power and love perfectly, and Jim talks about him too.
We start of Story of God at the beginning. God makes a perfect world and perfect humans. We spend some time talking about how God designed humans to function, from our identity to our purpose.
We talk through the story of God pursuing and redeeming humans, from the book of Genesis to Jesus's birth. We end our time looking at how the gifts from the Magi were foreshadowing of who Jesus would be.
Join us as we talk about the woman that anointed Jesus's feet with expensive perfume. Three groups responded to her costly gift: Simon, the disciples, and Jesus. We address each response, but see how Jesus's gives us hope.
Many of us have heard the story of the Prodigal Son. But in this message we see that the story had two brothers, and that those brothers represented two different groups of people that were present listening to Jesus. Jesus was using the two brothers to speak to them...and to us.
John 5:1-17 Jesus brings hope to an impossible situation while enraging the religious leaders.
Psalms 37:1-6. How do we respond to the evil, suffering, and injustices that we see in the world? King David's words from thousands of years ago, still ring true today.
Philipians 4:6-7 thoughts are important to God. Today we spend some time talking about how our mind plays a part in how we see God, ourselves, and the world around us.
We take some time to look at the story of Jesus walking on the water. We draw some comparisons between the storm that the disciples endured and the storms of our life. We see that God is never absent from our suffering, and is faithful to work within it for His glory and our good.
