Fears are surfacing among western financial networks that the sanctions policy against Russia could trigger a global debt default. Victoria Nuland admitted under oath, during Senate testimony, that the U.S. has bioweapon labs in Ukraine, despite continuing denials from other U.S. officials. And the Russians released a war plan, drafted by the Commander of Ukraine's National Guard, on January 22, which shows that Ukraine intended to launch a deadly, full-scale invasion against the Donbass republics later this month, had Putin not intervened. Putin just called the bluff of the War Hawks who are trying to prop up their collapsing unipolar order. The issue at the heart of the present U.S.-Russia showdown is not Ukraine, but the need to move to a new security architecture, one which not only guarantees Russia's security, but that of every nation. Former presidential candidate and military veteran Tulsi Gabbard asked why won't the Biden administration guarantee that we will not allow NATO membership for Ukraine: "Is it because the war mongers actually want Russia to invade?" More to the point, it is that they fear the Anglo-American unipolar world order, absurdly called by Blinken the Rules-Based Order, has lost any semblance of legitimacy after two decades of regime change wars, followed by imposing murderous sanctions on those who reject giving up sovereignty to the imperial looters, and is an advanced state of collapse.
The pathetic attempt by UK Foreign Minister Truss to imitate her model, Margaret Thatcher, in her confrontation with her Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, fell flat, as she came off looking like an ill-prepared buffoon. At the same time, the French and Germans saw in a Normandy Four meeting in Berlin, that the Russians are right, that it is Ukraine -- NOT Russia -- that is blocking the fulfillment of the Minsk Accords. And the EU's version of a Green Build Back Better plan was hit by a blow from Senegal's President, who said Africans are more concerned about having electricity than in meeting the COP 26 agreement's demands on hydrocarbons.
A coordinated diplomatic effort by French President Macron and German Chancellor Scholz to resolve tensions with Russia over security guarantees shows some promise. Secretary of State Blinken used the occasion of the release of the U.S. response to Putin's proposed treaties to repeat the accusations of Russian aggression, and reiterate that Russia will face a harsh response if Russia invades Ukraine. As war preparations hit a feverish pace, driven by the usual false narratives from the Military-Industrial Complex war hawks, there are other warnings being stated quietly, hoping you are not paying attention. In the last days, and in the next days ahead, decisions are being made which will determine whether mankind has the moral capacity to survive. The comments made in Berlin yesterday by Tony Blinken on the continuing war tensions between the U.S. and Russia over Ukraine show a dangerous detachment from reality. In stating before his meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov today, "I don't expect a breakthrough," he is demonstrating the delusional attitude of much of the Trans-Atlantic leadership, which is willing to risk a nuclear war, rather than take President Putin's demand for national security guarantees seriously. Lavrov will likely call his bluff -- then how will Mr. Blinken respond?
While it appears in the visible realm that no accord was reached in the Russian talks with the U.S. and NATO last week, there are developments which suggest that at least some in the West realize that President Putin is serious that his demands regarding Ukraine must be addressed. Blinken is in Kiev today, Berlin tomorrow, then will meet with Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov Friday. Yesterday, German Foreign Minister Baerbock met with Lavrov, as the new Scholz government in Germany is putting itself forward as a mediator. The next days will go a long way toward determining whether there is a step back from a possible nuclear World War III.
The War Hawks behind the foolish endless wars, who continue their destruction with sanctions and freezing funds belonging to the people of Afghanistan -- which threaten the lives of millions due to starvation -- have been engaged in a dangerous escalation against Russia. The Versailles Treaty at the end of World War I has in common with the posture of the U.S. and NATO today the view that the victors in war can dictate the terms of peace, as a unipolar force. This blatant assertion of world dominance ignores the legitimate wishes of other nations, and insists on their subordination to the unipolar power. This typifies the "arrogance of power" of today's globalist war hawks, who claim the U.S. "won the Cold War", and therefore has the right to be the dominant world power.
In contrast, the Peace of Westphalia, which ended the Thirty Years War in 1648, was based on the idea that recognizing the "interests of others" is the key to a durable peace. The outright rejection thus far by U.S. negotiators of the legitimacy of President Putin's security concerns will not be accepted by Russia. While it is better to talk than not, she said, the overall posture of the U.S. in these talks has "lowered the nuclear threshold", making the use of nuclear weapons more likely should war break out.
NATO, which should have been dissolved at the end of the Cold War, must be replaced, especially since its present policy course leads to a war in which its members in Europe will be destroyed. Belonging to a security alliance which would lead to war doesn't make sense. Demonizing Putin and attacking the Belt-and-Road Initiative when the western financial system is crashing also does not make sense. Has there been any progress in the ongoing talks between U.S. and Russian reps? The best that can be said is that it's good they are talking, but statements issued by them show that the Russians have not received the agreement they are seeking, as the U.S. continues to insist it will not accept Russian "red lines" on NATO expansion and arms to Ukraine. Meanwhile, the attempt at a "Color Revolution" coup in Kazakhstan has been thwarted by decisive action by the CSTO allies of the nation. "Russia will not allow a 'Color Revolution'", Putin stated yesterday, after revealing that "Maidan technologies" -- a reference to the methods used in the 2014 coup in Ukraine -- had been employed in Kazakhstan.
The talks between U.S. and Russian officials yesterday in Geneva reached no positive outcome. This should not be a surprise, as U.S. spokesman Ned Price announced that the U.S. "had not intended to reach any agreement with Russia." Will this attitude persist as the U.S. approaches further talks? With the Trans-Atlantic nations facing a deepening economic crisis, warnings of a "sharp correction" in hyper-inflated stock markets, the continuing disruption caused by the pandemic, starvation threatening 22 million in Afghanistan, and electricity blackouts in Germany, this is the time to move towards cooperation between sovereign nation states, rather than geopolitical confrontation to defend bankrupt corporate cartels.

Helga Zepp-LaRouche raised the question today as to whether the rioters rampaging through the streets of cities in Kazakhstan are being deployed on behalf of a Color Revolution designed to derail the upcoming talks between officials of the U.S. and NATO with their Russian counterparts. She said she had been expecting something like this -- we don't know yet if it is, but we will investigate. A leading Russian analyst said he's hopeful that some positive changes may result from the upcoming meetings, pointing out that engaging in a dialogue is in itself some progress, especially after the hostile rhetoric of the recent years. He said the statement of the P5 members of the U.N. Security Council that "nuclear wars cannot be won, and should not be fought," is a "good first step", but must be followed by specific commitments -- such as cooperation in rebuilding Afghanistan.
SIW 1/6/22: In reviewing events of the last days, Helga Zepp-LaRouche raised the question of whether the violent demonstrations that broke out yesterday in Kazakhstan were designed to disrupt the potential progress between the U.S. and Russia which could result from a series of upcoming diplomatic events. It's too early to tell if this is an organized "Color Revolution", she said, but should be investigated, as it is clear the riots in several cities were coordinated. She said she had been expecting a provocation to disrupt the meetings, which begin with a U.S.-Russian Strategic Stability dialogue meeting on January 10. With the announcement by the P5 of the U.N. Security Council that nuclear wars cannot be won, and must not be fought, there is a possibility for a breakthrough away from the geopolitical provocations and tension, which has been building.
There are still obstacles to progress, typified by the Baerbock-Blinken talks, in which the German Foreign Minister proved again that she is a loud-speaker for NATO in provocations against Russia and China. It is also shameful that there is still no action to relieve the humanitarian debacle unfolding in Afghanistan. Our role with Operation Ibn Sina is essential to awaken people out of the moral indifference which characterizes the actions of all governments, which do not act for the Common Good.

At the same time, energy prices in Europe are spiking, as part of an inflationary spiral which will only worsen, as the global Green New Deal is imposed -- though the Atlanticists will blame Russia for energy shortages and blackouts. There are real solutions, beginning with signing the treaties proposed by Putin; dismantle NATO; and adopt Lyndon LaRouche's economic program, which could turn 2022 into an excellent year!
