There are words that arise on my lips,And fall,Like the tides of the oceans,That are between us,A place in my heart,That has been empty and yearning,Since our last hug,The moon hesitantly peeps at me through the window,As I lay awake in crippling loneliness,And I feel like the lone wandering star,Traversing through the endless skies,Guided by some distant light,Like a lonely raincloud,Showering incessantly in unknown places,In search of a place called home.
The ache slithers in,Like a seductive snake, Filling the veins with an amorous venom,Words fill the gaps of longing in pining bones, like Kintsugi,Weary travellers, looking for each other,Across desperate deserts of seclusion,A mirage of desires glistening in the eyes,A storm, waiting to unleash,An ache for forbidden bliss,Names.. slipping from the lips, Like dew drops of whiskey,Arms and legs, Entwined in a smouldering tryst,Minds, intoxicated silhouettes,Dancing to the tunes,Of sultry, siren songs,The night turns a carnal crimson,As the veil of innocence comes undone. #poetry #love

A “Sea Shanty” (or shantey, or chanty, or chantey — there’s a good deal of disagreement regarding the spelling!) Anyway, these are poems in the forms of songs, strongly rhymed and rhythmic, that sailors might sing while hauling on ropes and performing other sea-going labors.
