Steve Brown, of Southwest Stories, talks with Lynne Miller, Byway Liaison of the California Historic Route 66 Association, about their application to have the Needles to Barstow stretch of Route 66 in the Mojave Desert designated a National Scenic Byway, discussing some of the historic and natural reasons for designation. Steve has traveled this route numerous times, conducted presentations about Route 66 in the Mojave, and has led a tour along this route.

Southwest Stories has broadcast two seasons of its television travel show on public broadcasting in Southern California and was in production for Season 3 when the coronavirus pandemic hit.
