In this second episode, Annie will be discussing diet culture, weight stigma, and her experience helping patients heal their relationships with food. The word, "diet culture" may not be a term most are familiar with. It stems from weight stigma and describes a culture that worships thinness, promotes weight loss, demonizes ways of eating, and moralizes food choices as "good" and "bad", "guilty pleasures" and "cheat days". This causes one to restrict their dietary intake, cut out food groups, and inhibit proper nourishment that can cause harm to the mind, body and soul. Tune into this episode to learn more about diet culture, how it manifests in Annie's work, and ways you can seek help to heal and unlearn the harms of diet culture.
