I USED TO BE MORE THAN ENOUGH
I use to be more than enough-
I meant more to you than folk and stuff!
I use to be more than enough-
I was all you needed when the road got rough!
Yesterday I was your soul's desire
when you felt empty and mentally tired!
My voice was all your soul would need
to stop the oozing, emotional bleed!
Yesterday My love was greater than your pain;
In your heart and life I ruled, I reigned!
Yesterday you strived to give Me your best.
Yesterday you bathed in My loving rest!
Where is that man of God,
who overcame fiery trials?
Where is that woman of God
who once walked the extra mile?
Yesterday you worshiped at My feet!
Yesterday you joyfully danced and leaped.
Yesterday you rose at the start of your day
to seek My face, meditate, and pray!
Yesterday you heard My name and you smiled;
You walked by My side like a happy child!
Yesterday you thought about Me all the time;
I was Yours and you were Mine!
Yesterday I was your closest friend;
Your love for Me quenched your desire to sin!
Your love for Me rejected every type of lie.
My love was better to you than a drug addict's high!
Where is that man of God
who once prayed without ceasing?
Who is this woman of God,
frequently depressed and weeping?
Yesterday under my wings of love
the storms of life you soared above.
Yesterday I was your Superpower!
Yesterday you leaned on me every hour!
I use to be your Daily Bread.
You use to follow wherever I led!
I use to be your only hope and salvation.
I was once the center of your conversation!
Blessed with My merciful grace,
you once ran a pretty good race!
I use to be the very air that you breathed;
Every word I spoke is what you believed.
What happened? Do you know?
Do you remember when you let Me go?
It wasn't an obvious type of good-bye;
the kind you can pinpoint when and why.
It wasn't the big, but the small that caused you to
spiritually stumble and fall!
It was the subtle attacks that come day-by-day
that slowly drew your heart astray!
You subtly began to no longer pray.
You subtly began to lose your way.
You subtly detached from Me, your power,
and joined the world's garden of withered flowers.
It was the broken pieces of your unhealed heart
that caused you to mentally and emotionally depart.
You left in typical human nature style-
Bitter, worried, and behaving like a child!
You made your problems bigger than Me!
Your spiritual eyes can barely see!
You are barely able to hear My voice.
I no longer cause your heart to rejoice!
I use to be more than enough-
The one you worshiped and adored!
The one you once called King and Lord,
Now beckons you to reopen the door!

My name’s Rebellion – the son of hell!
The spiritually dead is where I dwell!
I do whatever I want to do-
I have no regard for God or you!
I live in darkness – I fear the Light!
I guide those with no spiritual sight!
I may appear sweet and humble-
But the feet of many I cause to stumble!
I refuse to bow to God’s righteous rules-
I do as I please – as I choose!
If what I do feels right to me,
Then that’s the way it’s going to be!
I answer only to myself-
I dazzle others with gifts and wealth!
I exalt my throne above your throne!
I want your kingdom as my own!
I want control! I want to steer!
I want your spouse and your career!
I use many things to control my prey-
The fear of rejection gets many to obey!
I use sad stories with flowing tears!
I use illness, titles, education and career!
I use talent, clothes, houses and cars-
Tradition and religion will get me far!
I stir up confusion, discord, and strife!
I’ll turn a husband against his wife!
I’ll cause a parent to hate their child-
My ways are old but not out-of-style!
Do exactly what you feel;
Curse, gossip, lie, and kill!
Like a witch I seek control-
Self-promotion is my goal!
My tactics operate like a spell!
My subtle tactics rarely fail!
Give that sister a piece of your mind;
Don't waste time being patient and kind!
Stab your brother in the back;
This is my favorite kind of attack!
Resentment and bitterness are in my brew!
I’m an expert in the things I do!
Many qualify to dwell with me
in hell for all eternity!
Those who follow my ways are damned!
I’m only conquered by the blood of the Lamb!

I control your emotions like a thermostat!
One second you're calm, the next you attack!
I can cause you to smile or to frown;
I can cause you to feel up or feel down!
I’m your god! I’m your king!
I can make you do anything!
I like the control I have on you;
Whatever I say, that you will do!
I control you with shame and regret!
I control you with sickness and with debt!
I control you with fear and with hate!
I control you with minor and major mistakes!
I work through those closest to you;
If they do right, so do you!
You lose your joy when others do wrong-
You lose your focus and your song!
There are many I control just like you!
I’m only defeated by a very few.
A good day for my people is just by chance;
I’m a strong foe - I'm Circumstance!
I Circumstance have total control!
Do as I say! Do as you're told!
I have no intention of playing fair;
I bring bad tidings from the
"Prince of the Air"!
I surf on the waves of your fear and doubt;
Up and down, in and out!
Roller coaster, yo-yo, merry-go-round;
I hold your emotions securely bound!
Your joy's unsteady; it comes and goes!
Your next reaction, no one knows!
One minute you appear faithful and strong;
But that don't usually last very long!
When things go your way you are happy and calm;
But the slightest trouble sets you off like a bomb!
I bring discouragement to the strongest teams;
Destroying marriages and many dreams!
Only those strong in praise and prayer
can block my seed of hopeless despair!

DEFINING FAILURE
So many times we go through great lengths to prevent failure from occurring in our lives and/or the lives of those we love. But we live in a world of sin and failure/death is linked with sin. God's word says in Romans 6:23 -> "For the wages of sin is death [failure]". No one likes failure because failure is painful. Losing a home or car is painful. Losing a love one to death is painful. Losing a job or not able to find a job in a bad economy is painful. Failing a test, a course, or grade school is painful. Adultery/unfaithfulness is painful. Divorce is painful. A child or spouse addicted to alcohol or drugs is painful. Admitting a love one to a mental institution is painful. A love one arrested and sent to jail/prison is painful. The list goes on and on.
Shattered hopes and dreams is why we need Jesus! At least, that's why I need Jesus!
When something fails, then it actually experiences death. Death/failure was not part of God's original plan when He created the heavens and earth in the beginning. Death entered through the corporate/combined disobedience of Adam and Eve when they did what God commanded them not to do.
The fear of failure/death stagnates so many people. God's word says the following in Hebrews 2:14-15 (NET) -> ".......He [Jesus] likewise shared in [our] humanity, so that through death [failure] He could destroy the one who holds the power of death (that is, the devil), and set free those who were held in slavery all their lives by their fear of death [failure]."
When Jesus died and rose again from the grave, He defeated death/failure by taking away its sting. God's word says the following in 1 Corinthians 15:55-57 (AMP): "O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting? Now sin is the sting of death, and sin exercises its power upon the soul [mind and emotions] through the abuse of the Law. But thanks be to God, Who gives us the victory [making us conquerors] through our Lord Jesus Christ."
In Jesus Christ, I "can" and "do" arise from failure. The pain/sting of failure no longer holds me in bondage! When failure comes, I may cry and/or feel discouraged but in Christ I am empowered by the Holy Spirit with His love, joy, and peace to keep moving and doing God's will. Therefore, I encourage myself in the Lord and refuse to stay in a mental and emotional hopeless state because God's word says that I am "more than a conqueror in Jesus Christ"! I stand in full assurance through Jesus Christ that "This too shall pass", and "It is well with my soul!" I speak to my circumstances and overcome adversity with the word of God!
I now present the following definition of failure: You and I are not failures because we make an error(s), we are failures when we make an error(s) and continue to make the same error(s) even when we know the correct way to do or not do something. We are also failures when we refuse to admit we have a problem and/or ask for help and CONTINUE to seek help. Not asking or seeking help is a sign of pride and God says in his word that He hates pride.
The error(s) of my parent(s), race, spouse, pastor, children, etc. do not define you or I as a failure.
God's word says in James 4:17 -> "For him who knows to do good [the right or correct thing] and doesn't do it, to him it is sin [death, failure]." We invite failure and death in our lives by insisting on doing things our way instead of God's way or by following the error(s) of others and allowing their errors to infect our mind and emotions.
God's word also says in James 4:7 -> "Resist the devil [the voice of failure, the father of lies] and he will flee from you." In Ephesians 4:27, God's word tells us not to give place to the devil [the spirit of death\failure].
Yours in Christ,
Sandra
