What if the value of learning a foreign language lies not in the new words you can speak, but in the new world of possibilities it opens you up to?

I recently surpassed a mile-stone on my Serbian language learning journey and on this episode I am here to share 5 big things that this process has taught me (beyond speaking new words!)

  • Progress is a process -- small steps are the big steps when you're in it for the long haul
  • You only know what you know -- and what you think you know can prevent you from learning
  • Ask better questions -- you'll discover more about yourself
  • Language is a bridge that connects us -- and we need each other
  • You can make your world as small as you want -- or you can step outside of your comfort zone and experience things you never thought possible

After 6 weeks of intense treatment and little sleep, Julia was discharged from the hospital and could celebrate her 19th birthday by being home with her family and dog, Brownie.⁣ ⁣ While in the process of remission, she still drives back and forth to Tampa for chemo (4 weeks on/4 weeks off) and is scheduled for her last round to end in April. Despite all adversity, Julia continues to pursue her passion for health & fitness and is currently studying neuroscience to go to med school.⁣ ⁣ Her light so shines bright - and she reminds us of the truth that no matter how dark the night could be, the sun will always rise again.
