Hi! I'm Mr. McGunagle, my students call me Mr. McG. I am a high school social studies with experience teaching psychology, economics, government, and U.S. history. My favorite subject is psychology, I decided to become a teacher to share it with others. I've discovered that teaching is awesome in all forms but nothing beats the study of human behavior to me. I hope you enjoy this passion project of mine, I look forward to sharing everything I know! Please follow me for more content https://www.instagram.com/mrmcgpsychology/
In class review for our 2023 spring final covering chapters 4, 7, 8, 11 and 14. Mainly, I reviewed old tests and explained concepts as we went through. It cut off shortly, my apologies, for one portion but recorded most of what I had to say. If you use this for review I hope you find this helpful :)
Sincerely,
Mr. McG
There was an issue uploading this episode. Hopefully this episode revolves the issue.

Mr. McG
Fear of failure, more specifically the fear of rejection can be crippling. Getting rejected can be crippling. It can set you back so you get out routine and spiral in depression. My experience has taught me ways to approach this fear and minimize it. I hope the following helps you change for the better if you choose to do so!
A few weeks ago I put out a questionnaire on instagram asking for topic ideas. I received five great responses and addressed two questions here. Both questions are copied the questions below. Thank you, I hope you find my response useful!
“an artist mind: fighting against resistance, self doubt, figuring out what separates your art" - Hank Anderson
“How do I know what my passion is? How do I know what should I pursue and dedicate my time to? I feel like as an adult, we only have a finite amount of energy and attention, how can I be sure I’m using my energy to the best of my ability. I have a lot of hobbies, which I would love to make careers, but giving an honest attempt at making a living at one is a big commitment. How can I best go about approaching this?" - Danny Young
This episode begins with a discussion related to BJ Fogg's Ted Talk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdKUJxjn-R8. The discussion is the end of my classes conditioning unit. This discussion is followed by the Introduction to Dreams lecture. I explain what dreams are and the theories for why we dream. I also share my own "connect the dots" practice for interpretation. I hope you enjoy!
To help prepare my students for their upcoming test on brain anatomy I told a story about how the brain works! Please excuse the sound of fans and ice cream trucks in the background, it's hot as hell in Southern California right now.
I don't how jeopardy is so clam and relaxing to watch on TV? Every time we play in my class it feels like an angry mob is charging the stage. I love it! Hope you enjoy listening, I attached the link to my jeopardy below.

There is a biological base that influences our everyday behavior. People used to think that was the heart, our most identifiable life source. Today we know that it is not the heart but the brain! This is the beginning of a new in class lecture series about the Anatomy of the Brain!
This is an in class recording of the chapter 2 research methods jeopardy review. The winning team in each period goes on the Jeopardy Wall of Fame to forever be recognized as the best of the best! Even if you aren't a student I hope you enjoy listening in to the jeopardy chaos
Dumbledore told Harry, "help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who ask for it." In my experience help for those in need goes way beyond Hogwart's. The guidance of great teachers, coaches, and mentors have given to me for FREE has landed me another great opportunity. Mater Dei has hired me as their new AP Psychology teacher! In this episode, I reflect on my journey so far as a teacher, the help I received, and answer a few listener questions.
Everyone struggles with identity. I didn't know this when I was young. But it's helpful to know that you are not alone. There are millions of methods to discover who you are. In psychology, a good place to start is personality theories. The Big 5 is the most widely accepted personality theory and was useful for me when I went through an identity crisis. Career and relationships were major issues for me to navigate, but I found direction once I understood my own personality. In this episode, I tell my story and explain how the Big 5 helped me discover careers and relationships that fit me! I hope my story and lessons shared helps you navigate a crisis you need to overcome too!
This episode is for the dreamers! From student feedback dream analysis is one of my most popular lessons. When I did the research and taught students how to analyze dreams I figured I should try it too. Now after analyzing over 200 dreams I feel confident applying the lessons. The first 20 minutes cover dream analysis theory by Freud, Jung, and yours truly. The last 16 minutes is all dream analysis! One of my own dreams and three dreams shared by listeners via Instagram. This was a lot of fun to do! Please share this with anyone and everyone if you find it interesting and/or useful!
Reflecting on the 2022 school year I decided to cover positivity, a strategy I emphasize in my teaching practice. Positivity helps create a welcoming environment for learning and I believe that can be explained best through Carl Rogers approach. Rogers concept of empathetic listening and unconditional positive regard are explored in an effort to explain my approach. This is my first podcast, I hope you enjoy it! Please offer feedback and follow me if you do.
