So…you got a bad review in your boudoir photography biz. Such a bummer, right? I know how that feels and I’ve definitely had my fair share of them. It’s so frustrating because you immediately feel that the world has ended, like this one bad review is going to break your business. Spoiler alert: It won’t! Remember, stuff like this is inevitable. You can do absolutely everything right, and there will still be unhappy people. You can’t please everyone! But whether it’s in public on somewhere like Google reviews, or privately via DM or email, it’s so important to respond constructively to criticism. As a business owner, you’ve got to develop thick skin in that sense. You won’t enjoy criticism, but you CAN learn and grow from it. And that’s why in this episode, I want to show you five of my best tips for handling negative reviews as a photographer.

This industry does come with a little bit of stigma. When I first started out, I was judged a lot by people who knew me, and people who didn’t, about the work I did. I wasn’t taken very seriously…until people saw the money I was bringing in from it. Here’s the thing — boudoir is ART. And people are willing to pay for that art. A lot of people can’t see past their own judgments to realize that, though. And as a boudoir photographer yourself, I KNOW you understand! You’ve likely ran into the same situation plenty of times. Boudoir photographers don’t often get taken as seriously as other photographers do. But that’s not the only way a boudoir photography business differs from other styles of photography. Boudoir Photography Trends I LOVE (And Hate) - Episode 90 of the Sustainable Freedom with Boudoir Photography Podcast with Tracy Lynn!
When you think of boudoir photography trends, what comes to mind? In the late 90s/early 2000s, it was all the rage to have black and white or extra vignette-style photos. Then, in the 2010s, super-matte photos were the big thing. And then, it went to orange skin tones with mint green hues. And at the time, we all thought they were super cute. But now, we look back at old photos and probably cringe a little, right? What I’m trying to say is that trends will come and go. What you see now isn’t always going to be popular ten, fifteen, or even five years from now. However, there are some things that never go out of style! And for that reason, I have to call them my favorite boudoir photography trends. Which is exactly what we’ll be looking at in this episode, so you can see how to build one timeless portfolio (and ultimately, business)!

For the first few years in my photography business, I went into sessions so stressed out! I was a nervous wreck about not getting every photo a client wanted or if they could tell I didn’t know what I was doing. It wasn’t very fun and to be honest, it made me dread sessions. I still remember pulling up poses from Instagram and Pinterest while my client was changing outfits, just trying to have enough poses to get through the session. On top of everything else I had to focus on during the session, it wore me out. But now with some experience under my belt, I’ve realized that the way to avoid this is to create a session that’s repeatable. Because it ensures you keep things running smoothly. (Which…pssst…means less overwhelm for YOU!) So how do you create a repeatable session? The first step is to build a boudoir photography posing sequence that is too. And in this episode, I’m going to show you four ways you can do just that!

3 Ways to Build a Portfolio that ARE NOT a Model Call - Episode 87 of the Sustainable Freedom with Boudoir Photography Podcast with Tracy Lynn!
Photography model calls…yay or nay? After talking to some of you over on my Instagram Live recently, the general consensus is that it’s a nay. And it’s not hard to see why. Model calls are a tactic used to get clients in front of your camera, disguised as a modeling opportunity (not just using models themselves…that’s a totally separate thing!). People will often use this as a way to create a photography portfolio, especially if they’re just starting out. And it’s very attractive to many models (experienced or not) because they think they get free sessions and photos — all they need to do is show up and sign a release form. But more often than not, what ends up happening is they have to PAY for their photos. Not cool, right? Not only that, but model calls tend to make photographers look a little too green. You want to establish yourself as an authority in your niche/local area. But it’s hard to do that with model calls. The good news? There are plenty of other ways to build your portfolio. And in this episode, I’m going to be digging into three of them!

In 2013, I picked up a camera for the first time ever. I was living in Oklahoma, in a very unhealthy relationship, stuck in survival mode for years. And although I had a good job, I was just trying to make ends meet. Photography quickly became my creative outlet during that time of my life. It gave me the chance to meet new people, go to workshops, travel alone a lot, and, to be honest, learn who I was as a person instead of just being miserable all the time. Fast forward to 2016, and I moved to St. Louis. Right then and there, I decided it was time to make photography my full-time job so I could have freedom in my life and get to do more of what I wanted. For the next year, I worked really hard to hit a number that would allow me to do that. And in December 2017, I was FINALLY able to turn this into my full-time job. But what happened in the in-between? How exactly did I get there? That’s what I’m talking about in this episode.If you find yourself in a situation similar to mine, take these tips to help you grow your boudoir photography business — and know that it does get better!

When I first moved to St. Louis, I knew no one. Literally not a single soul. So to book out my photography schedule, I had to get really creative. I had to put myself out there, figure out who I wanted to photograph, and yes...being bold! Was it scary? A little. But I’m glad I went for it because now I have repeat clients I LOVE working with. And most of my new ones are referrals. I tell you all this to tell you that if you’re low on bookings because you’re just starting out, or you’ve recently moved, I want you to know that it gets better. And hey — lucky you. You have someone to learn from instead of starting from scratch and figuring it all out on your own! So today, I want to break down a few booking strategies that I think can help. These are things I see photographers do all the time, and even use in my own business. And while there’s no one right answer (because it all depends on YOUR business), I really do think that these strategies can help you find more of the clients you’re looking for.

Equipment — it’s not always something you need. Yes, you need a camera to take pictures, and a computer to run your business off of. Maybe some lights mixed in there too. But past that, you don’t really need much to get started. Or to keep running your boudoir photography biz. Honestly? I’d rather invest in education. I think it’s priceless to learn the actual strategies and techniques you need to do things like appeal to your target audience, market your services, and keep clients coming back for more. Over the years, I’ve realized that new boudoir photography equipment isn’t going to increase your profitability or give your clients a better experience. New and “better” equipment isn’t going to make or break your sessions or your session sales. You definitely need GOOD reliable equipment, but you don’t need to constantly upgrade your equipment either. That being said, as a photography business, you still have to invest in SOME equipment. Pricing — it’s something I get asked about a lot as a boudoir photography coach. Whether it’s because someone has a lot of clients but isn’t necessarily profitable (and probably on the verge of burnout). Or if they’re profitable with no clients lined up. 4 Best Pieces of Boudoir Photography Equipment to Level Up Your Photos
Since 2017, I’ve made a cumulative $1.5 million dollars. Yes really. And I did it all while working less than 30 hours each month. Now, before we get too far into this post, I do want to say that there are several reasons for this, which I discuss a lot more in other episodes. Things like client experience, and knowing how to market yourself…those big business concepts. But just like those big things make a big difference, so do the little things. In fact, sometimes it is those little things that can make the biggest difference — and ultimately, make or break your client experience. That’s why in this episode, I want to talk about one of those little things that everyone forgets. Because I truly believe that it is SO important. Your studio furniture. Yes, for real! I know it may sound a little silly, but think about it — when a client is getting their photos back, they want them to be elegant and professional. And you can’t really do that without having high-quality pieces of furniture or other “props.” So, I have specific pieces that I’ve chosen with purpose in mind. You need an airtight photography contract that’ll protect your business. Here are four things photographers must have in their boudoir photography contracts! Photography contracts are one of those things that you know are important for your boudoir business, but you don’t really think about them until you need them. It's kind of like insurance or trips to the dentist. I learned about four specific things boudoir photographers must have in their contracts the hard way…and I’m passing the knowledge on to you. Having these five things in your photography contract — a minimum purchase, a rescheduling policy, a refund policy, a copyright clause, and a release form — will save you headaches in the long run. I know, because I’ve experienced them! Do yourself a favor and check that your contract includes these details.

And these two sales help me bring in revenue, even in a slow season. They’re what help me stay fully booked all year. I have a solid sales strategy for my boudoir photography business that I’ve been using for the last six years. It’s proven to be reliable…even though there are a lot of coaches online that say running things like traditional “sales” or discounts is a no-go. They say it cheapens your brand…but…the numbers don’t lie, and I firmly believe it’s how I stay booked out all year long! In fact, most of the boudoir sessions that book are repeat clients. Photography Price List Tips That Make You Feel Less Salesy - Episode 60 of the Sustainable Freedom with Boudoir Photography Podcast with Tracy Lynn! Early on in my boudoir photography career, I avoided photography sales sessions like the plague! I did not like the idea of selling and was always so nervous about being too “salesy.” I can’t tell you how many times I sat there wishing my work would just sell itself so I wouldn’t have to pitch it. In the beginning, my $100 sessions were barely paying for my gas to get to the session location and back. That’s not even considering the time I spent on all the backend tasks, like client communication and editing! I wasn’t really making any money. Thankfully, over time, I was able to learn how to get more boudoir photography sales without having to be pushy. The most asked question I get as a photography educator is, "How do I find and book more clients?" They are always focusing on the short term.
Build a high-converting website. A high-converting website is a website that takes your leads and turns them into a client quickly. To build this kind of site, you need to know exactly what your leads need to know to become a client.
Once your website is built, then your only job is to drive traffic to your website.
Websites have anywhere from a 1-5% conversion rate–which is how many leads come to the website and turn into clients. If you need to book ten clients a month, with a 1% conversion rate, you need 1000 leads to visit your website.

The five ways to drive traffic to your website. 1. Rank on Google and Google Business Profile. SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, is how you rank on Google. With good SEO, you will rank high for the keywords your leads are searching for.
Your Google Business Profile is how you rank on local Google Maps. Listen to episode 53 to hear more about this topic.
- Build a referral strategy. Clients who come from referrals are great because they are prequalified. The referrals can come from past clients or from other business owners who you've built relationships with.

Drive traffic to your website from social media. When using social media in your marketing strategy, the most important thing to remember is to ensure you drive traffic to your website instead of your DMs. Let your website do the heavy lifting!

Attend In-Person Events. Wedding shows are my favorite type of in-person event. In episode 9, I break down exactly how I booked 17 sessions from one bridal fair.
The other perk to these types of events is the big boost you get to your email list.
- Use your email marketing software! A vital tip to remember with email marketing is that you need to nurture more than you sell. I only sell about 15% of the year to my email list. The rest of the time, I am giving them all the information they need to know to have a great session–plus why they should even want to book a session.
Before you do anything else, focus on your website to ensure it's a conversion machine.

There are many options when considering your lighting setup for boudoir photography–and you're probably wondering which one is best.
But the better question is, "Which is best for you?" Every photographer is different. We all like different things artistically.
In this episode, I'm breaking down my specific lighting equipment for my boudoir photography business. With this information, you can decide what lighting setup for boudoir is best for your business.
My lighting setup for boudoir photographyI don't classify myself as a natural light photographer, but I prefer natural light as I think it's the most beautiful. When needed, I am happy to add light to take my images to the next level, though.
Natural LightMy main rules are:
- Face towards the light. Whether the images are just for her, her and her significant other, or in your portfolio, we're showing off her beauty, so I think her face should be lit. This is also a stylistic preference–so take it with a grain of salt.
- Body away from the light. The shadows create the illusion that her chest and booty may be a little bigger than they might be. We can even create shadows for her abs or show off her back and leg muscles when the light falls correctly over her body.
Westcott Solix Continous LightI used to use a Westcott Spiderlite TD6, but recently switched to the Westcott Solix Continuous Light and am IN LOVE. This light is much easier to set up and use than the Spiderlite.
Westcott Ice LightsAs far as I can tell, these have also been discontinued, so unfortunately, you may not be able to purchase them. This replica might work–and it is much cheaper than I paid!

Ranking on Google is a goal for every photographer–after receiving a few photography website SEO tips to understand how important it really is.
When Marcella came to me as a newbie photographer in 2021, she had heard of SEO–search engine optimization. Still, she didn't know what to do with the information she had.

She booked out her schedule with these photography website SEO Tips.One of the most important photography website SEO tips Marcella used was how to decide on her main keyword, which was "Calgary lifestyle photographer." Once she knew what keyword she needed to use, she strategically placed it on her website to help her rank.
And then, she started blogging using my TLC Blog Formula. This formula lays out exactly how and where to use your keywords strategically throughout a blog to help it rank.
And it definitely helped her rank.
Two years ago, she was nowhere to be found on Google. Last year, she was on page 1!
She said she booked about 30% of her clients from one blog post. There seemed to be a massive difference in the type of clientele from Google vs. social media.
The ones from Google were ready to book immediately. Instagram leads need to be talked into booking.

Google My Business, or what’s now called Google Business Profile, is something you have to have as a photographer. If you want to rank, you have to have great reviews as well.
In this episode, I'm breaking down the three reasons you need a profile with great reviews and how you can actually get more reviews from your current and past clients.
What is a Google Business Profile?A Google business Profile is a free listing that allows businesses to add important information such as hours, website, contact info, current photos, and more. It helps you get found online.
Did you know that Google accounts for 92% of searches in 2023?
If you want to book out your photography schedule, your website needs to rank on Page 1 of the search.
Just as importantly, though, you need to rank with your Google Business Profile. If you don't, you’re missing out on a ton of potential clients.
Your Google profile will get you more qualified traffic than social media, and will also help you show up on maps. These searchers are literally searching for what you offer and are usually ready to book.
Where as with socials, you’re talking leads into becoming clients.
You need reviews to rank with your Google Business Profile.At this point, you aren’t going to rank if you don’t have plenty of reviews. You definitely need more than just a few.
I don’t want that to discourage you, though. We all start somewhere.
If you keep showing up for your clients and giving them an amazing experience, this will easily result in lots of 5-star reviews on your Google Business Profile.
And if you just keep chipping away, one review at a time, you'll see results and start ranking in your area for your keywords.
Three reasons reviews are important:1. Your potential clients are checking your reviews before they book a session with you. 2. Google reviews help your Google Business Profile rank higher in the profile listings. 3. More reviews help your actual website rank higher on page 1 of your keywords.
Three ways to get reviews:1. Make sure your photography experience is amazing. 2. Ask your past clients. 3. Follow up with your current clients.

Free PDF: 5 Tips to Book Clients Without Facebook Ads
Like pricing, boudoir session fees are hard to nail down–even if it feels like they really shouldn't be that complicated. This industry has so many different opinions that we are constantly second-guessing ourselves.
Strategies for Pricing Your Boudoir Session FeesWhen we start working together, one of the first questions I get asked by any of my clients–private, mastermind, and even my group coaching clients is, "What should I charge per session?"
Boudoir photography pricing is confusing no matter how long you've been in business.
And it's not just shoot & burn(the all-digital model) OR IPS (In Person Sales). This question comes up regardless of your photography business model.
Pricing may always seem confusing–but it doesn't have to be.
- Pricing your boudoir session fees high This session fee would be $400-500 and above range. With this strategy, you're attracting the client already prepared to spend money on their session.
These clients understand what they're diving into IS a luxury.
- Pricing your photography session fees lowAnything below $100 is a lower session fee–some might even consider $200 or less low boudoir session fees.
A common belief is that low session fees bring in cheap clients. And they can–without the right marketing strategy.
- Pricing your session fees in the mid-range. I think this is the perfect happy place. Not too big and not too small, you know?
These mid-range session fees are typically in the $2-500 range.
My sessions are priced at $299, and I genuinely think that this is one reason my schedule stays full of great clients who love what I offer and are happy to pay for it.

Boudoir can give boudoir clients so much self-love and confidence–but it can also completely damage their self-esteem and even their mental health.
In this episode, I'm talking about the 5 things you can do to make sure your client's experiences are only positive!
Boudoir clients usually feel so great after a session.Boudoir is such an important niche of photography. It gives women confidence, empowers them, and helps them learn to love themselves.
But, at the same time, a boudoir photography session can do a lot of damage to a woman’s self-esteem and mental health.
But not always.My good friend Andrea of Andrea Murphy Photography sent me this message a few days ago about a big win she had–that was due to another photographer's mistake–and it really hurt her client's confidence.
“I sold my $8000 package this morning! This client had gone to this cheaper photographer, and although the pictures weren’t terrible, the gal had no idea what she was doing and made her feel fat and ugly the whole time. She said she cried all day the following day. But she wanted a redo and came to me and spent $8000.”
In this episode, I explain several of my own experiences with boudoir clients through the years– from body dysmorphia to eating disorders, and client's who just had a bad experience at other boudoir studios.
The five things you can do to create a safe space for your boudoir clients1. Be very careful with your words 2. Learn to pose well 3. Learn your light 4. Shoot only what you want to show 5. Learn to retouch
Here's what I want you to know:If you only get just one thing from this entire episode, I want you to remember how truly detrimental boudoir photography can really be to boudoir clients' mental health if you aren’t careful with the entire experience.
Remember, women pretend to be strong, but our confidence is fragile. While a boudoir session can build it up, it can easily knock it down as well.
Boudoir photography is a very intimate thing. Women are putting their trust, confidence, and, to be honest, their mental health in your hands.
Be careful with it.

Session Prep Guide For Boudoir Photographers

Sometimes, there are so many photographers in your local area and not enough clients.
In this episode, I will prove that your photography market isn't oversaturated–you're just marketing all wrong.
Most industries think they are oversaturated, too.My studio's building has at least two dental offices, multiple accountants, and several therapists.
And this is a good thing!
That means there's a need for what you offer in the world. Your job, now, is to go be the best at what you're offering.
In this episode, I explain three reasons your photography market is not oversaturated. I talk about what to do if your town is too small to support your business. Then, I finish up with exactly why I built my business in St. Louis (and then left it there) instead of moving it to the area I live in now.
- Every photographer has a different ideal client, a different style, and a totally different business model.
- There are far more people in your area needing a photographer than how many photographers there actually are–I promise.
- You have to remember that you really don't need that many clients. If your area–not just your town–has 20,000 people. You only need 75 clients per year. You can easily book that with the right marketing strategy.
What if your town doesn't have a population to support your business–then what do you do? 1. Market in surrounding cities, towns, and counties. 2. Build your business in a nearby larger city and travel for your sessions once or twice a month.
The photography market isn't really saturated.If you get just one thing out of this episode, understand that it's not that the market is oversaturated.
It's that you need to focus your marketing on your ideal client.
Put on your blinders to every other photographer in your area, and stop worrying about what they're doing, who they're photographing, or how busy they look.
Focus on you, what you want from your business, and who you want to serve specifically.
Then, create a marketing strategy to attract that one specific person and start booking her.

A private coaching client recently asked my thoughts on when to quit her day job to go full-time in her boudoir business. In this episode, I'm breaking down three ways to prepare to quit your day job.
Another podcast sparked this conversation.This client told me she'd listened to a recent podcast from a well-known coach who'd said to give up your 9-5, you need to pick a date and then make it happen.
I told her that I disagreed with this statement–my thoughts are entirely different, to be honest.
Picking a date without a strategy to support this date and decision can be dangerous for your financial situation, business, and life.
It's a good way to set yourself up for failure, in my opinion.
Three different strategies to take your boudoir business full time
Please understand, when working a full-time job, booking a full-time boudoir photography schedule, or making a massive amount of money each month will be next to impossible.
You have different working hours than a full-time photographer. How could you possibly photograph that many sessions or bring in that much money?
Set realistic goals that you can actually achieve. Once you give up your day job, you will have all the time in the world to work on your business.
Your schedule will book out quickly, and you will make way more money because you have more time to focus on it, you know?

Decide a specific monthly revenue goal you must hit for a certain number of months.

Have a specific number of sessions on your schedule for a set amount of months.

Have a specific amount of money in the bank.

Boudoir photographers want to take a beautiful boudoir photo that stops the scroll of potential clients. I think we’re all trying to outdo our last most-impressive photo–every time we pick up our camera.
We’ve all seen the photos that other photographers have posted. You know, the ones that make you stop scrolling and just study the image in awe.
And as photographers, we’re all striving to create those photos. We want to be the photographer who makes other photographers and potential clients just stop in their tracks because of how beautiful an image is.
Over the years–and after investing a lot of money in education with some of the best photographers in the world–I feel like I’ve been able to create a few of these scroll-stopping boudoir images.
The thing is, there’s a lot that goes into creating an incredible image. This episode covers five tips to create a scroll-stopping boudoir photo..
- Lighting is the most important element of your boudoir image. Without great light, your boudoir photo will be average at best–when it could be spectacular.
- Posing your client from head to toe is very important to create a phenomenal boudoir photo. Remember, your paying clients aren’t experienced models. They are normal women and then need posing instruction so that they feel like models..
- Instead of asking clients to spend hundreds of dollars on outfits, let them spend that money with you! If they buy the $25 bodysuit from Amazon instead of the $200 option from Victoria’s Secret, they can spend that extra $175 with you.
- Make sure she feels beautiful, confident, and you give off that bestie vibe throughout the entire photoshoot.
- Subtle retouching, at minimum, is a must for scroll-stopping photos. Don’t skip this part.

Over the years, I’ve done several website audits for my clients. While I really enjoy it, I’ve noticed that most photographers make the same mistakes on their boudoir photography website.
Unlike what happened for Kevin Costner in Field of Dreams, just because you build it–well, that doesn’t mean they’re gonna come. There’s a lot more strategy to it than just building the website.
This episode covers the three reasons your boudoir photography website isn’t booking clients the way you thought it would–and a few simple changes you can make that will help with conversions.
The three main reasons your website isn't booking photography clients.
- The path to take action isn’t crystal clear. You have to have clear steps for them to actually take action.
- Your website isn’t skim-friendly. Think about it–would you spend hours on a website reading a novel all about the life of this business owner you considered hiring very briefly? No–you wouldn't. Your leads won't either.
- Enough traffic isn’t being driven to your website to result in the number of bookings you need. This is probably the MAIN problem I see-and the one that's easiest to fix, with the right strategy.
How do you know how many website visitors you need to have to your website each month?
Well, there’s a formula, of course.
Number of clients / 1% = Number of website visitors you need
If you only get one thing out of this episode, I want you to remember that you have to be super visible with your website.
You can’t just put it out there and wait for people to start clicking your link and booking. It won’t happen that way.
Building your website is just one step. After that, your job is to drive traffic consistently to your website.

In 2022, I’m on track to be a six-figure photographer (for the 7th year in a row) while only working 18 days in 2022. This is possible because I have built my business with strategy and intention, and you can do the same.
Being able to say I’m a six-figure photographer while only working 18 days has been years in the making. Earlier in the year, while goal setting, I decided I only wanted to be in the studio 6 or 7 times total.
This was possible for me because I don’t have to hold my retoucher’s hand and my scheduling workflow is super streamlined, while my website books clients for me on autopilot.
This gives me sustainable freedom, which we all know is something I believe wholeheartedly in, while still bringing in a great salary.

My favorite motto is saying is "Done is better than perfect." I lived by that motto when I photographed my first boudoir photography session in my first St. Louis boudoir studio.

Here's a secret that I share during this episode as well... I've never owned a brand new camera. I have a $1.4 Million dollar studio, and I still use used equipment.

I photographed my first boudoir photography session (in St. Louis) 3 days after I moved into my first studio. I had no furniture, other than a mattress and some sheets, and that session is still one of my favorites to date.
What is the best business model for your photography business? Well, there are three main types of photography business models.
- High Volume / Low ticket: Typically school photos, spots photos, think JCPenney's or Sears
- Mid Volume / Mid Ticket: All inclusive model/ Shoot & Burn Photography Businesses
- Low Ticket / High Volume: This is the boutique style photography business

Email marketing is the channel which generates the highest ROI. For every $1 spent, email marketing generates $38 in ROI.
Facebook ads ROI is closer to $4 for every $1 spent, which is why I preach about growing your email list OVER Facebook ad spend.
I started my list in the spring of 2017, with 25 on my list… all of which were current or past clients. Now, in 2022, my boudoir email list is 2500. This number isn't HUGE... but it converts!
With that being said, I want you to know my tiny little list in 2017, still converted leads into clients, because I use it in a specific way.

Dhi Skrmetti of 5th House Boudoir is a TLC Boudoir Photographers Mastermind photographer.
Ten years ago, she picked up a camera for the first time and fell in love. Since 2020, she has been trying to get her flailing boudoir photography business off the ground. After a year and a half of struggling and charging anywhere from $50-200 for her work, she finally decided to look into education.
When Dhi joined the Boudoir Photographers Mastermind in 2021, she wasn’t sure what she needed, she just knew it was now or never for her business.

In this episode, I’m sharing the EXACT steps I took to leave my 9-5, how I made it happen so fast once I decided it was time, and I want to talk about my photography workflow.

The boudoir model call, which was super popular several years ago in the boudoir photography industry, is run as “ a way to grow your portfolio or change it up,” but in reality it’s just a way to get clients interested in your services.
Honestly, I would call it a photography flash sale or even a “quick cash grab” because that’s what it is. It’s a dollar amount off the photography session total disguised as a boudoir model call to make women feel special.
The idea is to get the potential photography client in the studio, have them fall in love with their boudoir images and the session experience, and become emotionally attached to their images so they end up purchasing more than what they expected.

Until I hired my own photography buisness coach, I had no idea what a photography business coaching was. Up until that point, it was like I was just throwing spaghetti at the wall, hoping that, at some point, things would start working out.

Time off from my photography business and my photography education business is important to me. During a recent three day vacation I booked sessions without lifting a finger!
By the time our weekend away was up, I ended up booking seven sessions in those three days, and they all came from businesses I had been creating relationships with the past few months.

Welcome to my all time favorite topic – how to book photography clients without Facebook ads. I am a believer in not paying for what you can attract for free.
There are so many avenues to free organic leads and many photographers don’t pay attention to them. It’s understandable because when you think photography advertising, you probably think well I need to PAY to play.
I want you to know that you do not have to pay for clients! You can absolutely get these free organic leads by really investing time and MAYBE a little bit of money into things that will work for the long term.

Marissa had built what seemed like a successful photography business—but what she didn’t have was a sustainable business. Her success relied on things like paid Facebook ads, constant availability, and working a 9-5 in addition to running her own business.
In today's interview, we're going to talk about the transformation in her photography business since we started working together and the steps she's taken to implement this marketing strategy.
Plus the big thing I wanted to touch on was how she's totally changed the way she runs her business – how she's stepping away and spending more time on her health in a very important way. She's also spending more time with her husband growing their life together.
Her sales averages have increased, the type of clients she's attracting have improved, but the biggest thing that's shifted is her priorities.
