Paul and the God Who Dwells
In previous sessions we saw how Paul went about gathering the nations and secondly how he engaged in the work of defeating evil, two of the three great movements of Yahweh. In this last session we look at the third and final great movement of God, that is, God coming to dwell with his people. Did Paul pattern his mind and his movements after the God of Israel who came to dwell with his people?
This concludes our series, "The Mind and Movements of Paul."
In this sermon we enter the heart of God, the heart of Jesus at the centre of Luke's Gospel.
Here at the centre of the gospel (chp 13) we hear the words, "How I long to gather you as a hen gathers her chicks, but you were not willing." Jesus is on his way to Jerusalem and he has in mind the inevitable clash between Rome and Jerusalem in 70AD.
The watch words then as now are the same: WATCH and PRAY
What was the mind behind Paul's movements?
In previous sessions we saw how Paul's movements, like the movements of the God of Israel, were about defeating evil and gathering the nations. In this session we explore Yahweh's third and last great movement, the God who comes to dwell. This session lays the ground work and becomes the last lens through which we view Paul in the next session.

What did Paul do?
It's a great question, one we don't normally ask of Paul. We are more likely to ask about Paul's theology, especially as it relates to our own pressing issues. But if we are to get past our thinking and enter the mind of Paul the best place to start is with his movements. And then we can ask, Well, why did he do what he did? What was the mind behind his movements?
So question then falls to us, As 21 century followers of Jesus, what are we doing? Why? What is the mind behind our movements?
