- No one who is truly saved can ever lose that salvation. The Bible offers this proof on multiple levels.
- Scriptures that plainly state it: here are just a few. John 10:28,29; 1John 5:13; 2Corinthians 5:17; John 6:37; John 5:24; Romans 11:29; Jude 24; Romans 8:38,39; Philippians 1:6
- Again, the very term “eternal life” means it can’t be lost, especially since scripture declares that it is not something we possess at death, but currently. John 5:24
- We are sealed by the Holy Spirit. (Ephesians 1:13,14) The term “guarantee” there actually means a down payment. The Bible is emphatically clear, if our salvation were to be revoked, God would have to concede 1/3 of the Trinity!
- No one in the Bible ever lost their salvation. Interestingly, we get an early answer here to the two situations that I presented above. With Judas, we have someone who was never saved in the first place. John 6:70-71NIV Then Jesus replied, "Have I not chosen you, the Twelve? Yet one of you is a devil!" 71 (He meant Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, who, though one of the Twelve, was later to betray him.) Later in 1 Corinthians, we have a believer living in such awful sin that he had to be put out the church. Notice the language concerning him. 1 Cor 5:5NIV hand this man over to Satan, so that the sinful nature may be destroyed and his spirit saved on the day of the Lord. If he had not repented (He did. That story is in 2 Corinthians) he would have committed what John calls the “sin unto death,” however notice that he would have still gone to Heaven. These are 2 extreme cases that bear out where we are going to ultimately land. True believers can never lose their salvation. There are many who claim to be, but never were.
- True salvation is what Jesus called the “new birth.” Anyone who has received the new birth, cannot be lost because God’s “seed” (life) is in them. As a result, a truly born again person begins to look at sin differently. Although we may fall many times, we know we are sinning, we grieve that we sin, and we battle to overcome. 1John 3:9. Anyone who can sin with no concern at all, has never been truly born again.

David's disobedience was forgiven, his sin was covered and his record was cleared.

Which do we love, God or what this world offers?

These are not from the Father, but are from this world. 17 And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.
You can't go AND stay. It's impossible.

Both hidden faults and deliberate sins have the ability to control us without God's intervention.
