This week’s episode comes after 3 pretty crappy Airbnb experiences! Me and my best friend Jason Jennifer Bader discuss our mutual discontent.
Also, it’s my dog’s birthday!

Hey loyal followers,
It’s been a while since my last episode. I’ve had a crazy busy summer- basically spent the entire time picking my girlfriend Sarah up from the airport. Let’s not harp on that though, water under the bridge.
if anybody has some good tips on how to get this marker off my car, please let me know!
I’m coming back strong with a GREAT episode! Kicking things off with a reading of a threatening spam email I received, then I dive into a Best Friend Check In with my best friend, Jason Bader.
Bader got married to HIS best friend, Kimmie! Their wedding was awesome. I gave a speech and put the full recording in today’s ep!
Then, I talk with long time friends and co-workers Tracy & Jeanie who are thinking about starting a podcast of their own!
Seeya next week ding dongs!

Loved chatting with George William Basil about his career as a working actor and the insecurities that come along with success. George is a hilarious and talented performer with a great sense of curiosity. We had the opportunity to work together years ago on set of a sketch I wrote for Ellen and we had an absolute blast.
Great listen for anybody wanting to work in a creative medium.
You can catch George in the upcoming comedy horror film “Werewolves Within” right now on Amazon Prime!!!!

Hello readers (mostly my best friend’s mother-in-law, Lynn Hemar)!
Music ‘isn’t what it used to be’ is one of my favorite dumb platitudes; few people smash that ridiculous opinion to smithereens more consistently than Jamie Drake.
Jamie is a prolific singer & songwriter. We dove into her creative process, how her perspective on success and purpose has changed over the course of her life and so much more.
Also, I use my platform to break a NEW artist from the UK who’s got an important new single out about body positivity!

Episode 10! Tune in for a few listener voicemails & an hour long conversation with my best friend, Jason Bader about how we became friends and also some disagreements regarding restaurants, of course.
Special thanks to Rick Mitchell, Grace Anaclerio and Jason Bader!

Today I sit down with one of the all time greats- Emmy Winning Super Star Lauren Pomerantz. She’s one of my personal heroes and I couldn’t love her more. We talk about which parts of our bodies hurt, bathroom stuff, and our mothers (obviously).
Have a nice long weekend!
Jason

On the show today I check in with my best friend, Jason Bader and we have a 30 minute debate about whether or not to order Chicken Parmesan at a diner.
Also! I talk with Clinton Avery Tharp - a very funny TikTok celeb who buys cool furniture at thrift shops and flips it online!
Some cool stuff from this week:
Dawes - my favorite band just released an awesome cover of Tom Petty’s tune, “Walls.”
The Scout Mindset - very interesting book about self deception, flawed human reasoning and the search for truth!
Hacks - Great new show on HBO Max about the relationship between a legendary Vegas comedian and a young comedy writer, desperately in need of a job.

Wow! Episode 7. This is the best one yet. It’s my birthday show!
On this episode I share some celebrity birthday greetings I got from a few of my A-List friends. I also interview a GREAT celebrity impressionist. The two have nothing to do with each other. Or do they? Sounds like a case for Podcast Detective Jack Johnson!

Hey folks!
In episode 6 of the pod I speak with my buddy, Brian Spencer (@creative_b.s). Brian’s a musician and a digital marketing guru and I get some insight on how to organically grow an audience. It’s an interesting convo for anybody putting themselves out there online!
Here’s a few links to some of my favorite things from this week:
There's a new animated film on Netflix called The Mitchells vs The Machines which is a hilarious ride for the whole family. Highly recommend.
Weezer dropped a new album today called Van Weezer and I'm super excited about it - life long fan of the Weez.
Just recently re-watched Big Fat Liar with Frankie Munoz, Amanda Bynes and Paul Giamatti and it may as well be a Scott Rudin documentary. For those who rightfully don't give a st about the entertainment industry- Scott Rudin was a big time producer and also apparently a giant a***e. However- Big Fat Liar is SO good. Killer cast. Sandra Oh was in it! And it’s just perfection.

What a show we have for you this week!
As I go forth on this epic journey of podcast superstardom, I’m constantly learning, and adjusting; and readjusting, and relearning; Still haven’t learned the difference between commas and semi-colons; so I just pepper in both whenever it seems right.
One thing I’m trying to figure out is how to differentiate the podcast from the newsletter while making them cohesive and kinda like a cool package deal.
Here’s what I’m trying this week. Instead of a summary of what’s on the pod, I’m gonna treat the newsletter as fun additional reading for my die-hard fans (Mom & Dad).
Here goes…
In the pod I mention a place that I consider to be close to heaven on earth. It’s called Tastee’s Donut & Burger in Pasadena and its AMAZING. Perfect cheeseburger for around 3 bucks. Honestly- I’m used to every burger joint around here being fancy and hype-y in some way or another. Not Tastee’s. It’s no frills and all thrills. The onion rings were as crispy as your shnozz when you neglect sunscreen on a family cruise to St. Thomas, and the donut was soft, billowy, airy perfection.
Next up, I thought it’d be cool to make a short list of things I discovered and/or really enjoyed this week. Not gonna lie- I got this idea from Tim Ferris— he’s been doing it for years but it’s a simple format and he’s a zillionaire so why not.
THINGS I LIKED THIS WEEK
Tastee’s Donut & Burger
Clinton Avery Tharp - Thrift Shop TikTok - this guy is great. He goes thrift shopping and finds cool stuff, sometimes does some refurbishing, stages good photos and sells said stuff at a profit. Plus he’s really funny while doing it. Gonna have him on the podcast soon!
Roof Studio - An animation studio in NYC/Brazil. They’re mainly working in the advertising space, but keep an eye out- they’ll be making some wildly popular feature length animated films. I have no doubt. Some of the most stunning animation I’ve ever seen.
Your Neighbor’s Backyard - is a series of backyard comedy variety shows started by my friends out here in LA. They’ve grown so much over the years and TONIGHT (Friday, April 30th) they’re hosting a live variety show with some amazing performers. Be sure to tune in and donate so that they can keep doing what they’re doing and raising money for super awesome causes.
That’s all for this week! I dig this format do you? Leave a comment & subscribe!
Until next week,
Jason

Exciting Announcement City, population me!
I’ve started a podcast. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a while, and now I’m doing it. The ‘pod will feature sketches, conversations with people I find interesting, music, etc… basically, whatever I want.
Why does this podcast need to exist? It doesn’t. No podcast ever made needs to exist. What a stupid question!!
ANYWHO.
The first episode of Nobody Cares About Jason Blackman features my good friend and fellow comedian, Kaitlin Mamie!
Kaitlin is hilarious- I’ve seen her perform around Los Angeles a ton of times and she always has me crying with laughter. What a talent! We get into her new comedy album, my mother’s competing comedy podcast, and the idea that nobody cares about you and that’s a great thing!
Kaitlin’s comedy album, Now That’s Crisp! Comes out April 6th everywhere!
You can follow her on instagram @kaitlinmamie for more hilarious Kaitlin Kontent™
And as always, subscribe to this newsletter for more stuff & tell your friends and grandmas and all that!
