Jesus said, "Don't let your hearts be troubled. I am the Way, I am the Truth, I am the Life," in John 14:1-4. In Restoring Fatherhood, part one, Pastor Mike Patz explains that the Way that Jesus spoke of was not just a destination. It's an introduction to Our Father. Jesus was teaching a revolutionary intimacy with God the Father. Many of us are living as orphans, looking to the institution of the church to care for us, when the Father is waiting to be everything they need.

Marriage is a lifelong relational covenant (Matthew 19:4-6) between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24-25) with the missional intent (John 17:18-23) of mirroring God's covenant with us (Deuteronomy 7:6-11 & Ephesians 2:8-10). This covenant is relational, it is personal, and a living display of God's love for us. It is not about our happiness, but about God's glory. There's a ripple effect on our children, family, neighbors, that becomes a catalyst for restoration when we choose to be intentional to live out His design for our lives .
We look at the need to examine our hearts, to grieve our sins together in community. Pastor Oscar Roche brings the message with a look at Ephesians 2:14-22. When there is a crisis, a national tragedy, racism, injustice, we are called to repent, to intercede for reconciliation, to pray for healing, and to believe with hope together. Death is a universal reality, and grief is a powerful emotion when we've lost something we loved. We may be tempted to ask, "How could a good God allow this?" Yet the Lord promises to be near to the brokenhearted, to those who are crushed in spirit. In our times of brokenness we must run to God. Grief and hope can coexist. Death is not the end; it is merely an entrance way to glory.

When we suffer, we can either become bitter or better. In the dark night of the soul, Joseph knew that God meant it all for good. In Romans 8:28, "but we know" is eido: to be aware, behold, consider, and perceive. Faith is not optimism; it's Emmanuel, God is with me, recognition. Remember the presence of God in your past. Recognize the presence of God in your present. Thank Him for things to come in the future.
We live in a culture of dishonor, yet honor is a kingdom principle. Pastor Mike Patz continues our Restored: a Journey to Renewed Hope series with Restoring Honor. This look at the command in Exodus 20 to honor your father and mother has unexpected results. Honor in Hebrew is kabad, meaning to value, esteem, and ascribe the weight due to a person for their position. Ephesians 6:1-3 repeats the command with the addition of "the first command with a promise," that of long life on the earth. Honor opens the door of blessing; dishonor slams the door shut. God calls us to be people who bring honor in a world where it is most often missing.
Why are some people able to bounce back after having the air knocked out of them? In our Restored: a Journey to Renewed Hope series, Pastor Mike looks at the effects that joy and gratitude have on a person's resilience. When life gets hard and traumatic times come, we must believe what scripture says. Count it all joy! Our minds can be trained to look at the good things God has done and the key to resilience in hard times is joy.

As we continue our Restored: a Journey to Renewed Hope series, Pastor Mike reminds us of the commandment given in Exodus 20 to "remember the Sabbath, making it holy unto the Lord." There's a promise of rest that runs throughout all of scripture, yet so many of us try to push the limit by working 24/7. We are wired for Sabbath and rest, our weekly gift from God of restoration.

We may begin a task with enthusiasm but can quickly become weary. Do not give up! Galatians 6:7-10 shares the secret in not becoming weary in doing good. Enthusiasm comes from the word, 'entheos', which means God within. You will be most alive when you are serving with God, doing what you were designed to do.

Our seasons of brokenness can be used for His glory, when we bring the broken pieces back to His presence.
The What Child Is This? series continues with a look at the Person of Jesus. The prophet Isaiah described what the Messiah would look like: Wonderful Counselor, Prince of Peace, Mighty God, Everlasting Father. Jesus came to fulfill this promise so that we may know salvation. Yet His coming also gave us a glimpse of what God looks like. In the personhood of Jesus, we can fully know God, and come to be more like Him.

In 1 Corinthians 4, we find that greatness isn't what you think. When the world is turned upside down, greatness is getting low like a servant. True success is found in taking up the towel and serving others. We are called to bend lowly like Jesus.

It's Big Give Sunday, and Pastor Mike Patz welcomes our mission partners, Life For The Innocent and Missionary Sam. John 1:1-5 says, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God... In Him was life, and the life was the light of men..." Every person, every child was made by God. In the midst of the great darkness in the world, the point of healing is the Light of God. Darkness will not overcome, as we accept the call to shine the light of Jesus!
Because of the death and resurrection of Jesus, we have an Open Heaven today. Pastor Mike Patz continues this series with the reality of 1 Corinthians 3:9-15, The Judgement Seat of Christ. So much like we are today, the Corinthian Church was obsessed with wisdom. The lives we live on earth cannot be founded on worldly wisdom. The day of the Lord is coming, and we must live under the judgment of God, not the approval of people. How are you preparing for that day? Jesus is the only foundation, and when He is our foundation there will be peace.

The temptation in our day is to be an activist while going quiet about the name of Jesus. We can't compete with the lofty ways of the world! When we have God we don't need anything else. When Jesus shed His blood and died on the cross, a veil was torn between earth and heaven. The apostle Paul writes to this body of believers, and what we have today is a precious gift, with an address of the Mess, Message, Method, and Messiah to the current church. The gospel is not moral advice to try harder; it is an eternal announcement of what Jesus has already done!
We conclude the series, Ordinary People Becoming, as Pastor Mike Patz shows us that even in our ordinary faith, God shows up in great ways. He meets us where we are, not where we think we should be. In 1 Kings 19, God goes after Elijah as he is running from his enemies. The low time of spiritual blindness that Elijah is going through has been called the Dark Night of the Soul. He has prayed great prayers, and done amazing things, but he is still an ordinary man. We are prone to doubt, fear, and depression, but God has so much patience for us. He is speaking, and always our great Shepherd.
In his sermon, Ordinary People Becoming: The Life of Elijah, Pastor Mike Patz asks the question, "How long will you waiver between two opinions?" Sharing 1 Kings 18, we see the account of Elijah confronting King Ahab and the prophets of the false god Baal. He demands that idols be cast down. If the Lord is God, you must not only believe, but wholeheartedly follow Him.

The truth is, there will be conflict when you bring heaven to earth. We must allow him to use His sword to cut out the things that divide our devotion.
Your life is not your own! Pastor Mike Patz challenges us as he continues The Difficult Sayings of Jesus series, with the words of Matthew 18:1-9. We must be mindful of the "little ones". Jesus is not merely speaking of children, but of those who are young in their faith. As Christians we must take the lowly position. We must deal drastically with our own sin so that we will not cause others to stumble. There comes a point in our Christian life that we ourselves must grow up, not be easily offended, nor cause others who are weaker in their faith to be offended as well.

Just as our children expect to receive bread from their parents, healing is meant to be the expectation of God's children, not the exception to the rule. This passage takes place the only time that Jesus left Israel to go to the land of the Gentiles. There He encounters a woman with a daughter who is desperately ill. Jesus' comment to her could have very well been taken as an insult. God is willing to disappoint us in the short run to redeem us in the long run. Are we willing to trust? The call is to come to Him humbly, but to also come boldly to the throne of grace.
Where is your faith? Pastor Mike Patz continues The Difficult Sayings of Jesus series with a look at Luke 8:22-25. We all have different talents and abilities. Does faith feel like a talent that you do or do not have? The question isn't if you have faith; rather it's what are you believing? God wired you as a believing creature. Is your faith in Him, or a functional belief in something else? Jesus is teaching that you're either fixating your faith in a loving Creator, or you're believing in something else. He gives us an invitation to fix our eyes on Jesus rather than the storm.

A generous man gets translated as having a good eye in Proverbs 22:9. The Good Life is one marked by compassion. It is focused on one thing; being generous with others, seeing & responding to another's need. The truth about one who has an evil eye is when someone is greedy, stingy, according to Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount. If you get your eyes right, your whole life will be right. It's not dependent on social status but rather the posture of the heart. Let's be people who look through the eyes of the image of God.
Our new sermon series, The Good Life, begins as Pastor Mike takes a look at Matthew 6:19-24. These words of Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount, admonish us to store up our treasure in heaven. You can only have a good life with a good heart, and your heart always follows your money. Unlike in the game of Monopoly, the game of the good life is not won by accumulating more. Jesus gave everything up to buy the treasure that is you!
As we conclude our Who We Are series, Pastor Andrea Sarafan challenges us with our Missions & Generosity Fluency. The call in Matthew 24 is clear. There's only one thing left for us to do before Jesus can come back, and it's something we can do. "The gospel will be preached to all nations, then the end will come." The "unreached" means that they do not have access to the gospel. What matters to Jesus must matter to us! We're called to make disciples where we're at and be burdened for the unreached.
We continue our Who We Are series with a look at Matthew 28:16-20. Jesus commanded His followers to be going, and baptizing, and teaching to make disciples of all nations. If we want to make a difference, we'll have to get God's heart for making disciples. This means we start with being obsessed with Jesus, determined to live our lives as if He was living inside our bodies, because He really is.
"Choose today who you will serve..." Joshua 24:15-18. As Pastor Mike Patz gives the parable of the Three Chairs, he shares that Joshua saw the Israelites walk through the Red Sea with his own eyes. Those who came after him did not experience God that way. Do you have a first-hand encounter with Jesus? God only has children; He does not have any grandchildren. It was always his plan for one generation to speak to the next generation. We must be people of the first chair, who have a personal experience with God, telling our story to those who come after us so they can encounter the goodness of God as well.
What does the bible say about Grace? Pastor Mike Patz breaks open the Parable of the Prodigal Son found in Luke 15. Just as in the time of Jesus, these days the worldly rule of life is anti-grace. It seems there are either humble people, or arrogant and self-righteous people. So many people are lost and alone, and the only way back home is through the amazing grace of God. Will you be a person of Grace in your relationships, one who reveals the Father's true heart?
Today Pastor Mike Patz asked the question "why is Evangelism so awkward?" In 2 Corinthians 5:18-21 we are told: " God reconciled us to Christ, and gave us the ministry of reconciliation..." We are called to be ambassadors of Christ to the world. There is no greater cure for the human heart than Jesus Christ! Let your salvation story fuel the fire of evangelism in your world.

We live in a crisis of service, but also a crisis of leadership. Serving is humbling. Leadership is influence. The irreducible minimum to define "church" is a worshiping community on mission. At Greenhouse, the arm of relationship with God (worship) is yellow. The arms of relationship with each other (community) and with the world (mission) are blue. When you mix yellow with blue you get Green!

If there's anything our world needs, it is for God's people to live in the grace He has given. You will not be changed by grace until you are amazed by grace. Amaze us day by day by day!
