Conversations between two out of the box thinking broads; discussing their van life, farm life, art life, learning, salty commentary on culture and more. Thought provoking and humorous.
The Two Broads Turn Four episode! Join Lauri and Sarah as they somewhat marvel over showing up for podcasting for four years now. Having done 155 episodes over a myriad of topics it all feels hard to believe and it's special. Sticking with something is diffecult especially when it is something that is not attached to ones income. Seemingly though, the broads are catching their first big wave as this organically grown podcast has almost doubled in download activity over the past few months over what it had done in well over three years. We will keep showing up, we still have things to start conversations over, we still have interesting, fun, smart and talented guests to have on. We still love people and we still enjoy this podcast of ours. There is something to be said for perseverance.
Architecture, interiors, exteriors, public spaces, vehicles, clothing style all the way to food is not what it once was. Many do not recognize the lack of detail, color, design, embellishments and varied elements as missing. Most don't know the difference. Most may see beauty amoungst what is now a normal standard. Most don't feel deprived from deeper and more creative esthetics but all have been living at a lower frequency by the void that craft, artistry, reverence and detailed beauty has left us in. Uglification, a phrase coined by Jason Christoff and a book by the same by Sylvana Seymour, examines how the grey the drab and the ugly has replaced what once was attention to detail in everything down to door knobs. It is a fascinating concept that uglification has been slow dripped into societies under the guises of functionality, cost cutting, convenience and leveling playing fields but is it true? Could it be that our environments devoid of beauty creates mind numbing, lowered standards and lowered frequencies to make societies more manageable? Join the Two Broads on what we think is a serious consideration for observation.
Certified midwife Aubrey McMillan joined the Two Broads for a great discussion on childbirthing. There is a whole lot of fear surrounding this life changing event. Fears that are partically manufactured by a medical guideline system. The amount of stress this brings on top of normal concerns is truly out of control and is not resulting in robust mind, body and soul outcomes for so many. This is an important episode for anyone expecting or desiring children in their future. Society has lost its way in trusting the perfectly designed creation process and while emergencies can and do happen, many times stress and interventions unwarrented are rising those occurances. The good news is that many women are more in tune with what this should look like and the rise of birth preferences are on the gain. Women need to take back what is inheriently their's to own. I hope this episode brings the encouragment and empowerement it was intended to bring. Share with the expectant family you know.
Our friend Lynne Taylor joined us to discuss the upcoming 250th milestone celebation for the United States. We weave around the constitution in conversation seeking for some of the long ago signs of it being off the track. We have been watching slowly but surely ways to skirt logic, original intent, accountibilty, responsibility and down right tryanny over a slow simmer. Are we now boiling frogs? This episode may be a rather salty take to many but it's also possible we are not alone in feeling not in a celebration mood regarding this. Sometimes it just feels like a mourning.
In this episode we discuss what it looks like to be job searching in todays fast moving and changing employment market. The jobs themselves are changing along with the hiring process with the advent of AI and human resource tools. The average time to find an early/to mid career professional job is 2-4 months, specialized technical roles 3-5 months, director levels 4-6 months and VP and C level execs 6-9 months. Factoring in rising costs and minimal if any savings for such time lines it does seem like a real wild west market with peoples lives on the line. The Broads wanted to initiate a conversation regarding this with the hopes of shedding some encouragement and mostly to let people under the weight of these timelines to feel seen.
Special guest, Jen Lefforge of the very popular lifestyle and travel YouTube Channel, Joyful Living with Jen Lefforge, joined the Two Broads in this episode where we gathered to talk about our seasons of caregiving for a parent, although the sentiment is targeted to all types of caregivers. This topic hits home for so many right now and the number is growing. There is an inadaquate foundational structure and cultural support in regards to caretaking and this episode hopes to aid anyone going through this season to at least feel seen. We discussed dementia and how that presents extra layers to what is already a time when energy, resources and endurance can run thin. Here's to all the caregivers out there.
In this episode the Broads discuss getting a new perspective and strategy on your physical stuff. The decisions about the importance of all of the stuff we collect that follows us through all seasons of life even when the seasons no longer require the stuff. Swedish Death Cleaning, the act of organizing, downsizing and making a plan for your stuff so that your stuff does not become a burden to those who one day will have to deal with your belongings. There is a heaviness to stuff and a freedom to letting go.
This could be called Lions, Tigers & Bears; OH MY. Our informative researcher friend, Lynne Taylor, AKA, Common Core Diva, is back with the broads for more illumination on the scripts behind the stages. In this episode we get into America's AI Action Plan document, the 2027 budget, data centers & more. It's quite the web that is being woven and it's a lot to try and grasp. It's also documentation of how the reshaping of the world is happening and it's all written down for those who choose to see. Rest assured though friends, nobody delivers audacious and diabolical news quite like these broads as we have many laughs throughout this episode. Afterall, resistance and laughter is an option. Such exciting times we live in!
Somewhat inspired by the passing of Lee Estes, aka; The Man on the Mural, the broads take time in this episode to just appreciate all the regular people out here. By regular, meaning only not famous, not wealthy and not on a stage. While the dark theater of the worlds center stages rage on there are people out here everyday touching the life of another person and holding this crazy world together. The real stuff legacies are made of. Tune in and thank you for listening,
Clearly the broads were suppressing some real feels about the grotesque culture's environment for children. Between Epstein files, literature for youth, the children clothing industry, the non stop sexual inuendos in everything and the access the whole world has to our children, there is a war against kids. Innocence, naivete, and natural child development seem on hiatus replaced by "real world", fears, too much information for the sake of over protection, lack of screen monitoring and screens delivered into tiny hands. Replaced by real relationships that foster natural curiousities in due time, outdoor adventures, space and time to be a kid. Buckle up and listen without the young ones around as this is a gloves off salty episode and a cry to leave kids alone!
Sarah shared a story in this episode about an ordeal she and her family were undergoing for a good part of last year and felt the need to use it as a cautionary tale. Property disputes with a neighbor can be very stressful and once a neighbor decides to sue you, it adds a whole other layer to the discomfort. This is a good cast to listen to if you have an easement on your property. She, like a lot of other people are really not informed well at all regarding easements during the purchase of land but they are quite common for legal disputes so heads up if this is you. Of course there is some Two Broad rants thrown in regarding the state of this war we find ourselves in and some other salty takes.
Like a breath of fresh air the Two Broads were graced with special guest Dennis Ferrier for a casual, frank and uplifting conversation focusing on goodness. Dennis is the cheif investigative reporter for FOX 17 out of the Nashville, TN market and produces the Ferrier Files segments, which covers both investigative reports and human interest stories. It was for the latter that we asked Dennis back to the cast to share a glimpse into a big part of his world; finding people doing good things, upholding traditions and keeping community. This cast shines light through all the darkness and it is full of reminders of why we humans are and can be awesome, how community, traditions and values are the benchmarks for healthy families and society. Enjoy!
County Mayor candidate Reggie Weaver joined the broads for a conversation about real people running for office. Real people, meaning people involved in their local communities who are outside of the insider ball game club. We discussed the need for people outside the political machine to step up and run for a local office, help someone who is and at the very least be involved with local politics by holding these people more accountable. People tend to ignore the politics in their own back yard, focus on the President of the country only and wonder how we got here. Everything starts local and should push up but we live in a top down french press form of government and we are feeling the squeeze. How refreshing it was to talk to someone willing to put himself out there who walks the talk and truly is a man about the love of people.
Have you heard of 15 minute cities? Smart city? C40 cities? Have you done any research on what the development of them involves? Karen Bracken, founder of TNCSS, researcher and citizen activist brings this episode a presentation she put together for the AG and comproller in TN regarding C40 cities. There are 14 cities in the US designated as C40 cities at this point and using the pages from the C40's blueprint guide itself, Karen shows and explains why she calls these prison cities. It's worth learning about so that you can find the things to resist and you will be able to spot these plans as they trickle into every aspect of how we live; afterall, these plans never happen overnight but they are being set up.
Connor Jenkins, who works in the tech field, joined us for this interesting episode as he brought his insights about what tech is up to and layered with his passion for not only his love for tech but his watchful eye for us humans. Did anyone notice the advertising trend during the Superbowl? This episode highlights conversations we need to be having with each other as algorithms, AI and data integrations are affecting the job market landscape as well as small business's, who may be under some new found trickery that we may not be so aware of. AI is going nowhere in for forseeable future so it is incumbent upon us to decide how we can navigate this new landscape that none of us are truly ready for. It starts with conversations and being more aware. Afterall, humans made this all possible. Tune in and share this important epidsode.
Country music veteran, singer songwriter extraordinaire, Clare Dunn joined Lauri & Sarah on this recent episode. Clare, being bold enough to strike out on her own and disassemble from the major label and the demoralizing music biz reconnected with her values and makes music that is close to her heart which has led her on an additional path. Clare, who grew up on a family ranch in Southeast Colorado has recentered herself with her roots and wisdom of the plight of an American farmer. Clare spends much of her time now advocating for America's farmers, educating the public on the state of farm scarcity and busting myths that people think about farmers. She tours, writes music, speaks at agriculture events and has a new podcast called The Real Rural which highlights farmers and provides much needed schooling on what is happening with our farms today. Fast fact: it's not good.
The world stage is nuts whether near or far. So many distractions and so many big headlines that keep people glued to the screens for any scrap of what could resemble anything like closure, progress or realistic reporting. But, alas, those things rarely emerge. It gets clearer day to day that we live under a massive dose of deception, trickery, violence and mind control. But hey, let's not let our hearts be weary shall we? Tune in for some frank discussion and salty commentary on just a few questions we have.
In this episode we discuss a known yet glossed over the problem of illiteracy in this country. We went into a backward view of where we were concerning literacy as far back as the early 1800's to where the numbers line up today. We discussed all of the implications this bears on both someone unable to read/write as well as into the many societal ills it may very likely be affecting. We of course could not help getting pretty startled by the stats and how there seems to be nothing but a continual downward spiral; if not more excelerated by our current age of technology. It is a problem and our hearts truly feel for those trapped in such an outlier realm. We touched on what we, as individuals or as groups might consider for aiding in this hubris problem outside the system machine which has passed so many through. Tune in, share and chime in.
Happy New Year All!! We jumped on our mics coming in at episode #141 and the first of the new year filled with positivity and hope. We chatted about what fresh starts can do and how important taking stock of what one has gone through is important for moving forward and for settling in with what is at hand. Health was brought up since no other accomplishments can be done without feeling well. Discussions were had surrounding letting go, getting out of our own way, spiritual leaning and random other encouraging thoughts. Tune in. 2026 hopes to be a good year for the broads and they will expand to video and more. Let's all get to it shall we? We wish you all upgrades to your life.
Grief. One of the things that connects us all. Never welcome, rarely seen coming but the depths grief strikes in us rarely passes anyone over. When it strikes it throws your center of gravity completely out of any sense of what was solid ground and while we all have or will experience grief it is deeply personal at the same time. We wanted to talk about grief purposefully around the Holidays when so many feel completely out of step with feeling festive. Our Dear friend, Maria Sloan joins us and shares her loss as well as her experience through being a Grief Share leader. This is a very raw episode with the hopes of touching those who may feel seen by listening.
Sarah and I discussed the topic of data centers dodgyness a few weeks ago. Since then, we have been privy to so many areas fighting these beheamoth industrial data dumping grounds which made us want to visit the topic again. Many are behind in learning just how many of these centers there are and the real fun fact is that they are ramping up the building of more at a rapid, we are in a race pace. Lynne Taylor was part of a local fight against one moving into her area in North Carolina and they pushed back enough to halt the project, but as she wisely said, "for now." The amount of farmland being rezoned for these is quite alarming and while the horse is out of the gate, they need to be fought! Tune in and learn more. Watch your local government my friends, the sufficating control is real.
Friends, Sarah and I got into a passionate discussion based around the word streaming. Streaming; a word one would have never seen coming as a reference to so much and used so often. Upon pondering the word we compared an analogy of our own personal lives being a stream and wondered how much attention that stream is getting vs all the other streaming options. Caution, this conversation had us coming face to face with self-discipline. Tune in and catch the wave.
Both of the broads were abroad this past month; not together but near the same time and near the same part of the world. Sarah was off in various spots in the UK and Lauri was in Ireland with a northern dip to that Uk piece of Ireland. Just know that the stories of their adventures and observations were flowing and this episode is perfect for a mental vacation, some storytelling and some laughs. It's a great combo for this time of year. Come escape with us for awhile friends.
The days are shorter. There is less sunlight. The hectic season of Holidays is before us. The hustle, the bustle, the stress. Running on little sleep to get it all done. The Broads are calling for a time out to remind us that our bodies need attention, especially this time of year. Time for a self check on the status of what you are doing to armor up your body's defenses. We share some of our favorite immune builders, supplements, herbs and remedies as well as a gut check conversation. Time to love ourselves and the miraculous bodies we have been given. This was a fun episode chalk full of a call to arms for our health. Tune in and start addressing yourself as a Doctor for yourself.
In this episode we are discussing data center. aka: cloud storage and now AI training centers. While we are no experts on the matter, we present here a primer of some facts and a whole lot of thoughts on the realities of these centers. I think most humans are out living their lives, realizing and talking about the effects of AI and data collection yet these data centers are rather stealthy in their size, scope and how they are buying up the land to house them. This is a good conversation starter about something that is moving into so many communities and begs the question how sustainable are they actually? How will these communities be affected? How many jobs will they actual bring? The price, of as Sam Altman puts it in, "the demand we have for speed" is getting really expensive; in all ways.
Welcome to a Halloween chat with the Two Broads and Rae Hobbs, the podcast's third broad behind the scenes. Rae, who loves Halloween, joined us for a hang and we ended up with quite the interesting conversation regarding Halloween. Why so many love it, the history of it, the rise in the partaking in it, and much more. We all had to ponder about how the news and the things going on in the world have perhaps out hit the creepy meter of Halloween out of the park. Join us for this trick or treat episode of the Two Broad Casters.
MAHA: Making America Healthy Again. Considering the fast paced trajectory towards more and more chronic disease starting younger and younger, a fact filled need for our attention turned towards health could be the single most important thing to turn our attention to. However, is this just another distraction to make it seem like there is actual caring going on or are there some who do care, and if so, who and what can they acturally do? The broads get into the need for a movement like this but also the reality and of course needs and reality, questions and answers, problems and solutions are rarely squared up. Join us as we share our thoughts on the matter and we would love to hear yours as well. I like the acronym MYHA: Make yourself healthy again. It is to be seen if the HA stands for healthy again or HA as in, joke is on you. Again.
Father and now activist, John DeMay, joined us on this episode sharing the story of the tragic loss of his son, Jordan. A moving and maddening story to be sure but chock full of the hope that more and more parents level up their game in decisions regarding screens. We give the whole world to our young ones when most days its too much for anyone to navigate. Please listen and share this podcast that may save a life. Online exploitation and crimes are so much more rampant than anyone wants to admit and what's worse? Kids younger and younger are engaging with the world wide web through games, tablets and smart phones. This episode is dedicated to all the families who have lost a child and this serves as a call to action.
Sarah and I, like so many over the past week were jolted by the murder of Charlie Kirk. We both fell on the same opinion of Charlie Kirk, with no prior discussion regarding him, and that was, we were not aligned with several things Charlie Kirk discussed. We both also acknowledged that he was doing something very important regardless of our opinion about the things we did not agree with and there was plenty he spoke about that we did agree with. Charlie was a disrupter in the best possible way, which was bringing courage to address conversations in atmosphere's he knew were antithecal to his stances. He reignited the spirit of public discourse. He returned to college campus's a big piece of what historically what the college experience was built on and what made going turn out bigger thinkers for being around the atmosphere of the debate of human ideas. In this day in age colleges seem to be completely out of touch with what the college experience of old even was and that was for minds and perspectives of all hats to assemble intentional contentuous conversation for the reason of understanding, learning and personal growth. We bring this topic to the table today in honor of someone we feel deserves respect for his love of debate and his courage for truly showing us what has been censored, restricted, stuffed down and making it seem like todays ways are normal. It is not. RIP Charlile. What have we become?
The fast speed train to weight loss is nothing new but in light of the newest fat burniers on the block; GLP-1's, are the stakes getting higher and higher? These shots, like any predecessor of old may work so long as they are used, but what about when you quit? Did the root problem get resolved or are you back to too many pounds with the extra weight of health problems? The broads discuss how we seem to have a very strange attitude towards our bodies. In fact they are organic super machines of incredible design. They are built to repair themselves given the right environment but somehow we have lost sight that we hold the power to adjust things that give them the environment suitable to fight off attacks within, to heal and to cure themselves. We instead view them as meatbags we can abuse without worry until things go wrong, then while we reach for the quick fixes are upset that systems are starting to wear out. We have in fact the absolute opposite mindset about our bodies and we should be in awe and gratitude for them.
A great conversation with artist Brenan Sharp that weaved into many stories of how artists and authentic art and ideas are the counter balance to all of the fake and AI generated trickery. We discussed how art can bring us together. We discussed how the desire for authenticity will only increase and how using art to build community will become more sought after. We discussed how at the end of it all, stories are what matter most and are expressed through all of the humanity mediums. It was a most delightful, fun, inspiring and optimistic hang with a friend. We were one broad short on this podcast as Sarah was not able to make the conversation and she was missed but, hey, life happens as we all know and we pivot.
All dangerous and very toxic personalities aside, how can something like declaring no contact with parents become a trend? It seems like it is rather becoming a thing in cases devoid of abuse, addictions or mental illness. In a time of severe isolation, lack of community and strained relationships it seems so very dark to make a hard line towards ones parents. Are healthy boundaries pushing over the line for sake of ones mental health or is protection of ones mental health becoming synonymous with one creating a false perfect bubble where if you don't agree with or dislike something about someone the answer becomes to ghost them; even your parents? This to the Two Broads feels most likely yet another chink in the armor of families which of course is how societies are destroyed.
Tune in as the Two Broads have their friend, Stacy Dam of Set Your Sites back for the third time! We love following the journey of Set Your Sites so we love to invite her back whenever she has new and exciting updates. We use Stacy's journey as a great reminder that a frustration over something can lead to declaring a problem and then deciding to idea a solution into existence. Her story is the essence of the entrepreneurial spirit and it makes it that much more exciting to realize she stands alone in the arena of her chosen problem solving and clearly her idea and the timing lined up. Listen in for tips on finding funding, learning to bring in others on your idea, taking your idea seriously, business incubators, parenting, outdoor life, family life and more.
Does it seem that more and more growing up and growing old are at odds? The Two Broads discuss how so many grown adults seem to be acting out like young children in many different ways. From public outbursts, road rage, anxiety over decision making, whining and complaining and seemingly needing to soothe and pacify themselves in so many bad ways. Our culture is in dire need of some good old fashion maturity. Maturity is not a bad word and the lack of it is playing out before our eyes. Tune in.

The Two Broads dear friend, Tom Arnold, joined us for a beautiful conversation about freedom, parenting, grand parenting, curiosity, life skills, generation bridging, individual liberty, ideas, boomers, pursuit of happiness, homesteading, simple life and friendship which shines throughout the entire episode. Tom is a ninth generation Tennessean, a true humanitarian, a life long learner and teacher. Tom was involved in politics since he gave out Barry Goldwater pencils from the seat of his bicycle and was influential in Tennessee as a political go to. Always about people and personal liberty first, Tom is the quintessential southern gentleman who has been a beacon of light for so many in a time of turmoil. If you listen closely all prescriptions for a good life are in this episode. Sarah starts the episode with her newest farm life tale which left her feeling empowered. No tech problems in this cast but there may or may not be animal sounds that make appearances. This cast is like a glass of iced tea on a shady porch from a rocking chair after being dehydrated in a desert.
We invited the Common Core Diva, Lynne Taylor, back on for another episode as we could never exhaust all of the information she has on public education. Lynne is a wonderful researcher of original source documents. What she brings is from what those who release this stuff upon the rest of us from their blueprints of diabolical abuses that they write as both experiments and laws. Don't worry though, it is all in the name of progress, safety, inclusion, health and fairness of course. Lynne reads long word salad documents and shares what she finds; a task very few do. Of course there is no way to enter into a discussion on the mind control that public education is without venturing into so many other topic trails. After all, public education is our privileged right of passage into molding the future. The problem is, who's future? I should probably put a warning on this episode but I won't. We are all adults here, right?
FInd more of Lynne's work at: www.commoncorediva.com
There is a donate button on her website where those who realize the effort and time of what she does can contribute. She is on no payroll.
It is not new that news media/journalism has been in the great race to the bottom for quite some time now but Sarah recently maxed out on the levels it is at and needed to vent. I mean, don't we all know at this point that big news affiliates are corporate owned and create within their brood controlled opposition so that between the fans of news red pill and news blue pill they get all the advertising dollars and get to control narratives. Cool. Some journalists have left that propaganda pump fest for smaller owned media outlets but it seems they start to veer for the shallow end of the pool and much of journalism now seems cult of personality; like most everything else. Well, we vent some feelings about this topic and more AND have laughs doing it. Warning though; Sarah names names.
Jill Turpin joined the Two Broads for a great discussion on AI. Jill is a multifaceted artist as well as the brain child and director of an arts council and community center. We discussed the new frontier of art in the rapidly advancing AI era. How do artists respond? Will real art without AI be appreciated? Do people value art anymore since images are thrown at us daily like sand on a beach. More important, do we value what it is to be human anymore? Are we ripe for AI taking over all aspects of our lives? Are people ready? How does one ready? Are some in denial about it? All this and more in a deep conversation leading to some legit questions we should all be asking ourselves in these times we find ourselves in.
After a few weeks away from the mics, the broads found themselves needing to catch up on what all their absence had brought them. At the end, we present a podcast episode seemingly brought to you by the letter P. Join us for this wacky ride where we defy you to find an episode of any cast where one can weave together travel, homestead life, imposter syndrome, power outages, the Pope and more P's then you can shake a stick at in just over an hour. The wacky mics are back on.
Lynne Taylor, aka; Common Core Diva, joined the Two Broads for an in depth look into the Dept. of Education. Lynne is an education researcher with countless hours spent reviewing and analyzing legislation pertaining to education. She is a writer and has been on many podcasts as well as in person speaking engagements on the matters of education. The three of us discuss the topic of the likelihood of the elimination of the department, the exposure of all of it tentacles and other things that loop to the system of education. It's a real banger, a real triple crown of tin foil tiaras and it shouldn't be missed.
A great conversation with the multi talented award winning songwriter, producer, movie and stage actor and artist developer, Lamont Coleman. We talk about how we met, how sparks can fly with another persons energy in an instant, how vibrations matter and the beauty of artistic expression plus a whole lot of side trails. It's as high energy as the high energy we speak about. A fun yet poignant episode. Raising the vibrations.
When you have a great friend who has stepped into a step father role and is now a father of a brand new baby girl, you think, let's talk to a new father. Let's find out what is on his heart and mind about the adventure of parenting. Guest Jordan Slaughter brings an authentic discussion about new fatherhood and we discuss his observations in his work as a coach and also someone who works with men who are re-entering society post prison time. He has the unique view each day of watching men working to reconnect with their children. There is so much to be learned from that vantage point. A frank discussion.
Not a normal topic for these Two Broads and clearly for entertainment purposes only, they dove into some pretty salty takes on the political arena. Kind of a wellness check America if you will. This cast is probably sure to have reactions that are unsavory for many but the good news is, the subject matter will probably not appear again for a very long time. The Broads in their unaffiliated political belongings tend to not favor anyone which right now seems could be a voice that breaks a matrix or at least breaks in scripts. You've been warned. It's not any cast that speaks of an unconstitutional era, a potential end of Congress as we know it and the end of the world period so there's that. Entertaining and salty but not for everyone, lol.
Sarah really brings a great conversation regarding our water and specifically a presentation on a book that raised the flags on fluoride in our water a long time ago. It's widely accepted usage is actually quite a marvel given that there are no studies that still support the cavity reason behind slipping it into our water supplies. Of course the Broads found other tributaries to wade through regarding our water supply system, the power of expert blind trust and how the industrial revolution has brought us into being the age of the guinea pigs.
Vicky Hamilton has been in the music industry spanning more than four decades. VIcky has developed, managed, or discovered many artists through the years including artists Motley Crue, Guns & Roses, Stryper, June Carter Cash, Poison & more. Currently Vicky owns her own label called Dark Spark Music that has a roster of great and diverse talents. Author of a new book of poetry called, Veiled Allusions she also authored Appetite For Dysfunction which is tales from her early days of working with Guns & Roses (they lived in her one bedroom apartment with her roommate Jennifer Perry for six months.) Appetite For Dysfunction has been picked up for a new upcoming television series. Join us in this authentic, raw three broad conversation where we discuss the music industry then and now, creativity, addictions, AI, new artists, sobriety, poetry and more. Rather a homecoming as two of these broads have nearly known each other for a very long time.
A poignant discourse between the Two Broads on the topic of pride. A meaty and salty discussion worthy of chewing on. We recognize pride in others but perhaps we miss it in ourselves sometimes. We sure see all manner of pride in grand display all around us and along with it all of the bad side dishes it creates to go along with it.
Well the Two Broads recorded this the day after TikTok was banned, however, as we all know, it was restored later that same day. It's a good thing we weren't just discussing TikTok. We of course had to make the conversation much more broad (pun intended). It seemed the scent of banning was in the air so we weighed in. Tune in Broad Band!
The Two Broads are back with sorrow and salt over the most recent fire disaster still under way in California and now Baja Mexico. What are the lessons everyone should take away from all of the disasters we see? There are lessons to be sure and there will be positives that come out of the ashes to be sure but..... that's a choice. One thing is for sure, thinking for oneself has never been more required.
Your favorite Broads reflect on getting older, greed trust issues personal challenges and giving yourself the gift of better health. Lauri discusses her 21 day journey abstaining from all sugar and grains as well as social media. All that and so much more in this wellness motivating cast from your two favorite broads. There is no self care without good health care.
As many topics are personal for the Two Broads, in this episode they discuss body image. The illusive journey for the perfect body. Even though nobody really knows who is the judge on this arbitrary "image" of our anatomies we sure act like we do. In the meantime the quest for the perfect abs, breasts, biceps and hind sides may actually be the biggest waste of time ever. A frank discussion about an all too popular obsession. Honestly, the time has come for us to shift perspective to optimum health as a focus not purely the illusive image that few ever see anyway. Good health will go so much farther in the long run than brutal obsession over how we look. Tune in, we are salty.
The Two Broads were in extra rare form in this coffee table convo. There is a lot of social and cultural observation and criticism in this and truly one can only listen to see if you are able to list all of the bullet points, lol, Honestly though, it seems like we have over saturated our desires for entertainment, foods, escapism, sex, shopping and more to a point that pleasure could be an enemy. Where do you go when you've exhausted how entertained you can be?
Well, here we go; we are heading straight for the time of year that seems to bring with it the best and worst of times. The Two Broads bring their annual pre-season tips for getting into the right mindset for all of the festivities. Why? Because the stress level of so many is palpable starting around Thanksgiving and honestly, it reveals things about ourselves that could be wonderful indicators that need our attention that we may be ignoring; gaining more peace within everyday, not just around the Holidays.
These Two Broads really enjoyed our conversation with Matt who came out of the public school "system" and once a Father realized he must do something different for his children regarding learning. He began to build what he thought learning could look like and invited everyone he knew to join in, and they did. Now Apogee learning centers are spread throughout the country. It is a great episode on lifetime learning, parenting, not accepting the status quo, building outside of the box and more. Tune in and share this important cast.
The Two Broads were so pleased to have had Author Joseph (Jake) Klein on this episode where a very important topic was discussed. Klein's new book, Redefining Racism; How Racism Became Power + Prejudice, is a very well researched and important book bringing to light a very little known history of how anti racists movements have actually pushed culture backwards in the arena of inclusion and diversity. This book has been a six year journey and Jake shares some of his research pointing out that the way to real progress in anti racism must include being anti racist towards all. Perhaps it boils down to the truth that the real way to raise a bar is not by pushing others down but to raise the bar on oneself. Despite some short tech difficulties this is an episode to hear.
It is past time to think that it cannot be true that the industrial food complex isn't out for us. It is naive to think the FDA would never allow harmful toxins to be in our foods. Does not everyone not yet know? There are decades of disease riddled data to show us just how far off from real food the complex of food scientists have brought us, begging the question, do we even know what real food is anymore? The Broads get fired up over this topic and one of incredible importance.... Our children, our nation, is sick. Own your own health, nobody is in your corner regarding it.
Starting a new business? Stuck in your business? Want a successful life? Guest Brooke Lenhoff of the Entrepreneurship Center, Focus Suites joins the two broads for some foundational advise that often times gets overlooked when doing your own thing; the entrepreneur themselves. Understanding one's strengths is one such foundational building block that gets discussed today. Of course there are a lot of laughs too and some of the laughs come at the expense of this broad who damn near did die with her mic in her hand today..... unpredictable per usual, tune in! Be encouraged.
For the first time, the Two Broads had a repeat guest on the show. Stacy Dam of Set Your Sites, joined us again after only under three months due to all of the barriers and goals she has busted down. Goals she spoke of in her first visit and boom, they happened. If you missed Stacy's first cast discussing her, "see a need, fill a need" business idea and the weird accident she had that spurred her into action, please go listen to the Set Your Sites episode back in June. We were so excited to see this lady who is fast becoming the first in a business league all her own; a pretty big deal actually. We discuss keeping motivated and taking time to acknowledge, celebrate and sit in the milestones for a minute as the journey really is everything. Also, it seemed fitting to celebrate Stacy's win with our own milestone here at Two Broad Casters as this is our 100th episode we have recorded. It won't take you long into this cast (like immediately) to see how there is zero improvement in the tech department after 100 episodes as Lauri tries to enter the show with what she thought was a sound bite of celebration and clapping sounds and well.... epic fail. Oh well, the broads are known for this type of awkwardness at this point. Tune in friends for this episode sure to encourage and make you laugh.
The state of education is a topic that is sure to ruffle the broad's feathers. In this episode Lauri & Sarah push back against the misunderstanding of what unschooling generally really is and then it's off to the races. What ensues is a litany of amazement and grievances towards public education over the years and where it now finds us. Tune in if you like course salt.
Sarah is currently partaking in a physical fitness challenge and while walking several hours a day currently she has had time to think a lot about motivation and perseverance. The two broads discuss these two golden qualities and all under the Lauri's shroud of exhaustion which is ridiculously obvious right at the start of the show when she boldly calls Sarah, Sarah Conners!! WHAT?? Well, if you are a listener regularly, this probably won't surprise you. Which is sad, lol. Thanks for listening.
In observation of our occasional series on forgotten people groups, in this cast we discuss prisoners. Amy Jurgens is the Director for the Focus Suites Entrepreneurship Center and teacher at Southeast Community College. Amy is also teaching in the prison and shares her observations and insights about that. We talk about the bias many have regarding people who are or who have served time. One thing is for sure, no matter your thoughts or bias regarding ex-prisoners, one thing is for sure; many are coming back out it's on us out here on the "outside" to care about their re-entry.
In this episode the broads come to the mics with some salty commentary regarding the Olympics. It has its touching moments when one Broad tells of her childhood connection to the Olympics. This is a fun episode sure to get you back into the spirit of gold and we think we may get gold in the category of best post game without having been there or watched any of it. Listen now!
Tragic heroes. We are all familiar with them as they are in most stories told; via plays, movies or books. Tragic figures and cautionary tales have been in our societal culture experience in everything from The Bible, to Greek mythology to Aesop's fables. We have been exposed to stories that warn of us many things and things like regret, bitterness, greed and lies to a point where it would seem like we could all see the end results of where such things lead. However, for some, it didn't take. What happens when the tragic hero is someone you know personally and are left no other option than to feel like the main thing their life ended up being was a cautionary tale. It is a very sad experience. The two broads discuss this hard topic as well as other random things like flash naps, mob naps, generational living and more. Tune in friends.
The Two Broads have a conversation on this episode about how convenience, or a least the sales pitch of it, has led us into the really deep end of consumerism. We wonder if we are better off for it all despite the obviousness of much of it. Do we purchase without much real thought whenever something is sold as making our lives easier or better in some ways? Has all of that stuff we have bought lived up to its promise? Do we even use half of the stuff we have? Why do we think we have to constantly buy stuff? We bring up this topic in an effort to perhaps put some thought into how we are actually managing our lives though our stuff and our finances and our impulses to over buy. Perhaps we should spend a little more time being a producer of something at least once in a while as being known as consumers starts to feel heavy.
In this episode, in an attempt to soften the edges to so many campaign weary and anxiety stricken hearts the Two Broads are here to give a possible moment to readjust perspectives. Propaganda is the topic on this cast. A little background about it, what it is, how it's used and more. We even created a game called Spot The Ganda which we feel could aid humanity in surviving what now seems like an every four year virus that needs inoculation. Tune in as this is insightful and important but plenty of humor is poured throughout along with some snark and salt of course. Tune in!!
Great conversation with 2+1 broad, Stacy Dam, owner of Set Your Sites which is an idea and service that brings campgrounds into the 21st century. We loved hearing this idea of hers that is now catching some major waves and even more fascinating is the story of when she decided to actually give what was "just an idea" her attention and roll the dice. Stacy came through quite an ordeal which left her leaning towards another way of life for her and her family. She went through a real rough season and is now understanding and seeing the lessons and the rewards of making a big change. This is a great cast for anyone who is an idea person who wishes to actually turn the idea into more than that. A passionate and motivating cast to be sure and we hope it leaves your feeling as pumped up as it did us.
Join Lauri & Sarah as they have a great conversation with Stacy Dam, owner of Set Your Sites, a brain seed that is taking root and bringing camp grounds up to the 21st century. We discussed having and idea, seeing a need and then actually rolling the dice to fill the need. The story behind when Stacy actually decided to give her idea legs is a whole other topic in how scary situations bring forth such reward proving everything has its meaning if we shift our focus that way. A great cast to get fired up about launching ideas, getting out of comfort zones and surviving challenges. I loved this conversation and hope it gets you as fired up as it did me.
Living off of the land. Going off the grid. There is a mass conscience directed towards the desire to own a piece of property and return to an agrarian society. To be able to grow your own food and own a few of your own animals. In this episode we have a great conversation with Shawn & Beth who have been doing just that for over 40 years. Not only do they live off of their land 95% they have a heart to teach others. They spend much time speaking at conferences and their book, The Independent Farmstead is a must for anyone setting out on this awesome journey. If you want to really understand how the ecosystem really works, how we can learn to understand the ground, how you can create better food for your family, how we are being lied to and so much more don't miss this one.
How much do you know about Joe? That beverage that may be the start to your every day. We got to chat with Amanda Pumphrey, owner of Pumphrey and Beard Coffee Comany which is both a coffee house with two locations but also coffee roasters. Learn about that bean, (not a bean) we love and seemingly rely on so much. Coffee is very interesting starting with the plant perspective to the global marketplace of it to the cultures that have coffee as an important centerpiece. Of course as any authentic coffee talk conversation would have it; we meander, boy to we meander. Good conversation. P.S. Support your local coffee roasters!
We had the pleasure of having good conversation with Angie Craft, artist and owner of Sassafras Galleria and The Back Room Event Venue located in Wahoo, NE. Angie loves art and is a warrior dedicated to promoting art, aiding young artists and providing events and opportunities for artists of all types. She has done so much for the small town of Wahoo and for artists as she builds community through creativity. It was a perfect match up with yours truly two broads who feel the same and promote creativity every chance they get as well. More people NEED to indulge themselves in some type of creativity no matter the level you are at with it. The mere act of creating anything has the power to heal, gain fresh perspectives, puts things into better perspectives, interrupts worry, aids in creating a relaxed feeling, helps in problem solving and so much more yet many do not try to learn these truths. Fun cast about a subject they are all passionate about. Despite a mic problem of Lauri's it is still a great conversation.
Fun conversation with Chuck Bush. Chuck is CEO of Provocation Pictures and F3 Films with Nick Corso. We learned about how F3 Films just entered a deal with Silver Screen Pictures; a provider for content for Hallmark, Lifetime, GAC and others. F3 will produce pictures that occupy the faith, family and freedom space. We learned how Chuck's passion for community shows through his bringing film work to Louisiana where he resides. We talked about counter culture and being a part of that. We talked about how exciting it is, like in a movie, to see someone after many years, perhaps be on the cusp of some big things. We also learned what Kevin Costner, Chuck Bush and a 7-11 have in common and how that became a community also. You will also learn how one of the Broads and Chuck know each other from the way back files. Tune in!
It was a Two Broad honor to get to talk films and a whole lot of other topics with Chuck Bush, CEO of Provocation Pictures. Chuck and his business partner Nick Corso also have F3 Films which recently signed a deal with SilverScreen Pictures; a prefered provider for content or Hallmark, Lifetime, GAC and others. This will deal will bring film projects to Louisiana, where Chuck is based. F3 Films was created to produce motion pictures in the Faith, Family and Freedom space. Chuck's production companies have real heart and soul as well as community building in mind for bringing film work to Louisiana. It's always so inspiring to see someone stay in a game for years and years and then, all of a sudden, things get bigger. A real great conversation and extra fun because one of the broads may or may not have known Chuck from long ago and find out what Kevin Costner, Chuck Bush and a 7-11 have in common.
The Broads took their mics to the wonderment of yet another NFL player gaining media and social media attention and wondered if perhaps the NFL should consider their own TMZ type platform; perhaps even just the KC Chiefs; seems they have a lot of content. We ventured down many highways in this salty episode folks. We also wondered if it was time to make, "None Of Your Business", a thing again? Such a ridiculous wheel we are on, always quick with opinions on things that miss the deeper points. Or so it seems to these broads.
The Two Broads invited financial planner, Marcie Young, onto the show to discuss financial planning. Not specific products pitches but more realities and some reasons why perhaps so many do not have a will, a living will or a financial plan in order. Nobody likes to talk about this fundamental aspect of life and that should change. Good basic motivational info here in this cast!
Dress for success, the keys to success, think success be success, with success comes respect; on and on there are examples of how much the word success is thrown about. Here is the thing though; what is it? Is it a made up trap to get us all on the hamster wheel of comparison? Is successful the same image for everyone? Is there a path one can take to get it? What is IT? Is it a number, an address, a car? Or could it be something much much more? Tune in to the Broad's thoughts on "success".
One of the Broads, who fresh off of a trip to Greece, felt compelled to share her take on the trip. As both of the broads have now been to this wonderful country they weren't short on things to say about it and observations about the Greeks. This episode is rather like a get a way. Enjoy.
Sometimes it feels like the word expert no longer means what we think it means, which sounds nuts. In an age where everyone seems an expert on line, some people really are experts are in their field but are banned, some experts really aren't experts but we are told they are has led to an interesting time of both "expert" idolization and "expert" skepticism. While being an expert and needing experts is a wonderful thing the Broads take is that it does not mean that everyone is smarter than yourself in certain matters and a good dose of scrutiny seems wise. Too much blind trust in trusting an expert you don't really know has always proven folly. Good old fashion discernment is in shorter supply than expertise it seems.
In this episode the Two Broads go on a bit of a rant about something that bothers them both and that something is how people now days seem to really be lining up in self censoring. The politically correct movement of hijacking words, forbidding words and word manipulations are starting to pay off.
The broads have noticed a lot of misuse of the term gaslighting. Is it due to not knowing what it is? Is it used as an alternative word for ghosting? Is it another word that gets thrown around too much which leads it to be watered down? The broads discuss and get down to the darkness that it really is.
Yes, the two broads, who consider themselves to be "recovering people pleasers" discuss this futile habit that almost always gets the opposite of what the people pleaser thinks it can do. A quick examination from two broads who have been down that soul sucking life path and see it for what it is. A short but thought provoking cast about this which may help a fellow pleaser out there or to understand what is underneath the tendency to "make everyone alright". P.S. You can't.
Seems everywhere you turn situations seem nefarious. The Broads got on a pre-show roll about many things that rather grind their gears, so carried it into a recorded cast so you could get in on the question oriented rant. Starting with our food supply, a topic the Broads hold near and dear and broadening out from there, this cast intent is that many more would start questioning and talking about how it is we can find resolve or trust when the very essence of food production is being intentionally altered. All that fat chewing and more!
In the Two Broads efforts to bridge generations by understanding one another we like to have guests who represent the younger generations so that they can come on and give insight to what today's world looks like for them. Sarah's son, Connor Jenkins, who is a very ambitious 22 year old, came on the show to discuss his disappointment in what buying a house looks like. Home ownership itself seems under attack. Prices are ridiculously over inflated. Good conversation winding around tax brackets, home buying and just for fun, global communism. You'll own nothing and be happy about it.
Lauri was able to catch up with her friend, writer, political commentator, experienced activist and co-founder and President of Based Politics, Hannah Cox. Our catch up conversation after several years centered around watching someone's career take off and grow, the extra layers of distraction that being a determined female in worlds like the music business and the political sphere can present. We discuss how you have to be aware of those challenges yet rise above them and how to do it without losing your core or becoming jaded. We hope our discussion can be helpful to women out there that have a passion and a drive in realms that are particularly still, by and large, man clubs. We discuss how women often hurt each other when they could be helping each other and how there is still work to be done there. A casual and heart felt conversation with someone who set out to use her voice and remains standing against the tides. Just in time for International Women's Day!
This is a quick cast where the Two Broads, #soul sisters, discuss being unhappily married which was prompted by an Instagram video Sarah found. Of course the broads made the conversation more broad and touched on the state of "happy" in general and our tendencies to be unrealistic in our relationships; especially considering the amount of actual work people dedicate themselves to their relationships. A rather counter cultural point of view that promotes the premise of "happiness".
Sexual exploitation, sex traffick, sex industries, sexual abuse; all weaving a web of shame, guilt, dysfunction, generational trauma, lives not fulfilling their purpose, low self esteem, vulnerabilities, broken families and more is just a touch on where we find ourselves off of the by-product of the soul less underbelly side to sex. Great conversation with Brooke Carlson, founder and director of Disrupting Traffick in Lincoln, NE. Brooke has worked with the survivors of so many of these types of stories across the globe for over 12 years.
The Broads sink their teeth into the topic of food in this episode. We discuss how far removed we are in our daily awareness of what it actually is, its only purpose and gratitude for it. In our day and age we have by and large a very dysfunctional relationship with food replacing the gratitude with everything from shame, guilt, sadness, overindulgence, hoarding and more. It really is a mass madness not to mention the downfall of food itself. How toxic it is, how addictive they make some foods, how sick modern food is making us and more salty nuggets. The broads grab our attention luring us to examine our relationship with food and to get back to the gift for the mind, body and spirit that it really is. Bon Appetit!
Back to a favorite topic of the Two Broads, this week's episode is about creativity flexing with special guest, artist, Tom Blood, who is a painter from the St. Louis, MO area. We got to be inspired by Tom's love of the creative process which is genuinely expressed in his colorful, whimsical, happy paintings delivered in a surreal presentation form. Of course too, as all organic conversations will flow we zoomed out into the Caritus Connections non-profit organization he is President of which is an awesome service to the under served in St. Louis. We learned about his time in advertising, marketing art, the importance of creating and more. Tom was delightful to talk with and I rate this cast as a happy cast;)
In this episode we dive into our wholeness as human beings with Homeopath, Lindsay Hazelwood. Lindsay gives us understanding as to what homeopathy is, how it works, its history as well as things it is not. Listen and learn to know a little more about what could be an option for your health at some point. This will introduce you to some facts that there are options to what we now call traditional western medicine and how, despite the message that it is the best or the only, for many, the path has looked elsewhere with great long lasting health results. One thing we all agreed on is that the spirit and the body are more connected then we are taking seriously. We very well may have a wrong perspective regarding our health from so many aspects. At a minimum this cast challenges contemporary thought and programming, so get ready to stretch your mind perhaps, which is, by the way, great for your well being.
In this episode we discuss a large segment of society most generally overlooked; those coming out of the prison system, aka: forgotten people. With special guest Kleopatra Gaiter from The Dismas House in Nashville, TN, together we step into the shoes of these people a bit and discuss why it matters that we pay more attention to this segment of fellow humans. Learn about the successful program of re-entry for these folks through Dismas House and more. Buckle up; it's a salty one.
Dennis Ferrier joins the Two Broads for a great conversation that had us discussing why one should never say "things can't be any worse". We got to discuss some of our favorite topics; Blessings, gratitude, mind set, people showing up, community and more. Dennis has been doing a segment investigative reporter show for 30+ years and is a real investigator journalist for the people. The Ferrier Files, which most recently can be found on FOX17 out of Nashville; the show blends human interest stories, local policies and regulations people should know about and more. He is well respected in the Tennessee community. Super guy with a super story and a super show. Dennis had quite the 2023 and held on and just kept putting one foot in front of the other in a season many would have thrown the towel in over. Listen and chime in on the socials.
The two broads have a lovely conversation with Kent Kearney, discussing his first novel, "Eyes That Do Not See." Kent caught Lauri's attention when she learned he was born in the town of Kearney, NE, the same town where she had grown up and saw a review of the book on a Facebook group. His book tells the tales of his Great Grandfather and takes you through Ireland, an orphan, the potato famine, immigrating, the civil war and the trail out west where homesteading was the dream. "There was nothing about the book I didn't like" said Lauri. Also interesting and as a lovely bonus to the podcast is the fact that Kent is 77 years old and knocked out his first book. All this and more motivation in this week's episode! Visit Kent's website or go to Amazon to purchase your copy.

Listen to this episode where the Two Broads share some of their highlights and lessons learned in 2023. They discuss goals, dreams, self work and more for both themselves personally and for the podcast. A great cast to listen to as you begin your entries into that new calendar you just got. Insightful and motivating. Also, the Two Broads have invited you to be on their cast;) Happy New Year! Time is short, what are we waiting for?
As we approach a New Year the Two Broads would like to encourage everyone to not forget about spending more time in nature and to find an adventure. Special guest, Allan "Right Turn" Morales shared with us just some of his stories and motivation that backpacking the Appalachian Trail has given him. He even wrote a great book about it, Find Yourself Backpacking The Appalachian Trail, filled with characters found along the trail, an awesome go-to beginner guide and how nature leads to so much self discovery. What will your New Year adventure be? Take a hike. Join us for this fun episode.
After a typical silly intro the Two Broads take on the topic of caregivers. In many instances these are people who feel isolated and unseen. We wanted to spotlight these people who are taking on the huge task of full time care taking of someone else who aren't able to take care of themselves. It can be a very lonely journey and ones own life gets completely pulled off the stove. For some, they themselves become ill and feel defeated in even knowing how to reinvent their lives. We shine the light of our hearts towards these selfless people and especially hard during the Holiday season we felt it important to honor these people. Tune in and share with someone you know who is going through it.
In this episode we have two guests. We invited one of the Broad's Dad onto the show, Edgar Brouillette, as well as Son, Ethan Hildebrandt for his second guest spot so that four generations could gather in conversation. Amazing how things have changed within the age span represented. Understanding from one another and wisdom from each other is the key to bridge generations not gap them. We are all alive here together, we should relish that. Enjoy and share!
In this short cast Lauri and Sarah have a conversation about how dug in many people get in their regular patterns and way of life. Then, life can throw those curve balls knocking you totally off base. Some people rebound and pivot much quicker and some people struggle to find the exact place from where they fell. Sometimes are minds are too rigid leaving no pathways obvious. It is good to stretch yourself towards flexibility of both mind and body. A short dose of mind pilates is what this cast is centered around.
Happy Thanksgiving out there in Broad Band Land!! In this short but salty episode, Lauri and Sarah heat up the mics on the topic of compassion. Throw in some sympathy and empathy and you end up with a passionate discussion about adjectives vs verbs and how our culture is tending to turn good qualities into ways to avoid and bad qualities as excuse conditions. Food for thought on this, the week of feasts. We are very grateful for our listeners!
Welcome to our pre Holiday podcast where we chat about Thanksgiving and Christmas and generally the year end season of celebration, gratitude, giving and all things lovely. However, so many times this is not the case for how many feel about it all. Perhaps a reboot of our mindsets about the triggers of the season are in order? A cast filled with refection, some coping ideas, getting creative with gift giving, supporting local business and more on this episode with the festive broads.
The Two Broads had helicopter parenting on their minds but per usual the conversation quickly grew into something more zoomed out. Parenting is hard, awesome yet hard but we wondered if sometimes we make it harder by being in our own way, forgetting to make it fun and missing things that could ease the weight of responsibility. Parenting may be extra hard when we are racing to grow up before our kids.
Poet, Actor, teacher, Cameron Mitchell joins us on this podcast. We discuss his very unique and creative projects he has going on and how they tie into community building. Of course, as per usual with most Two Broad Casters podcasts, we stretch the conversation into something even deeper. Words! The magic of the gift of communicating, how important they are to share, how they can encourage or discourage. The importance of writing and storytelling. Join us in this conversation with Cameron, a man of heart using his words in a big way.
This week the broads get into a motivating and passionate discussion about volunteering. How there is such beauty in the giving. Being a part of seeing a human get a hand up is one of the greatest gifts we have been given. Volunteering can aid in anxiety, depression, loneliness, and feeling isolated as it pulls us away from our own sometimes levels of too much about our self and our needs. It's a working irony of give and take that has beauty. Tune in and get on the broad band.
In Episode #58, the two broads have a chat on self employment. How it has changed over the years and how the time for ideas has flourished and has changed the landscape of culture.
In Episode #57, the two broads have a conversation about how it seems like between some people pining over an era of the past they had or reliving a trauma from their way back, too many may be spending too much time dwelling in the past. Add to that all of the folks feeling anxious about the future and combined there may be too few with their heads in the present. Just another Broad branded conversation style cast;)
These two broads were on a month long hiatus from recording so this was our post adventure cast to fire back up. Sarah had been in Europe for three weeks and Lauri was farm sitting for Sarah as well as revisiting her old home state of Tennessee.
So many desire a meaningful relationship. So many broken relationships. So many broken hearts. So many feel disheartened about not finding true love. The Two Broads have a conversation about perhaps some fresh perspectives about this topic and how we disregard red flags or dismiss important discussions before barreling forward. Where should it start? Well, we conclude, it starts with you.
These two broads feel like commitment is at an all time low. Seems a lot of people cannot even commit to social invitations. What is the deal here? A great conversation examining the examples of lack of commitment, perhaps some reasons for it, the lack of prioritization and more. What are you all in committed to? Are your commitments attached to value? Join us!!
Woah! The broads ventured into a topic about conversational apologies and went on a full on salty counter culture, censorship, social engineering whirlwind; all seemingly connected as only a great conversation can land it. Turns out, this just may be a very, very important conversation.
The Two Broads return in this episode with their coffee talk style discussion on an observation made regarding self control. It seems almost a bad word to some as though it is equal to freedom robbing. It's interesting because we find it to be the opposite. A good and balanced life requires self regulation. Tune in and comment on the social media.
David Zach of the band Remedy Drive joins the cast on a very candid discussion centering around human trafficking. Remedy Drive's music has partnered with the non profit organization, The Exodus Road and we discuss that partnership, how we all have things we can do to towards the cause, how art can spread a message and so much more. Raw, heartfelt and poetic. Darkness and hope.
Don't miss this awesome conversation with Todd Crandell of Racing For Recovery. A former addict turned Iron Man competitor and founder of his organization that helps other addicts live their best life. The focus of this conversation is hope, dealing with root causes and how sobriety should be normalized. One to share for sure!!
The Broads wanted to find a guest that could speak on the SAG/AFTRA strike and they hit the jackpot when Carla Christina Contreras agreed to come and have a conversation with us. Carla Christina is the new President Elect for the Nashville, TN SAG chapter but also an accomplished actress, singer, painter, author and a real mover and shaker. She is one of the few on the negotiation committee of this strike and she offers a real conversational flow to understanding what this strike is about.
The conversation that happened when a Boomer, (don't call her that), a Gen Xer, (you can call her that) and a Gen Z, (don't call him that) took to the mic discussing generational gaps. The conversation swerved in and out of many aspects about differences and similarities and the need to embrace each other. Some great mind fodder and some mic drops by the 20 something who happens to be one of the Broad's sons. Tune in!
Take a bit of a nostalgic look with us over the past year of showing up for the Two Broad Casters Podcast. Sure we are tooting our own horns a bit here but like the Broads say, if not us ? Who. We greatly appreciate those who have tuned into our podcast and we are just warming up. Thank you!!
In this episode the Two Broads started a discussion about what feels like swimming in a deep sea of social identities. When are they good? When are they bad? Seems like we just got started on this topic and had so much more to say than we felt like we were able to get in. Weigh in on this topic on Facebook or Instagram and let us know if a part 2 should be recorded with any thoughts you have. Find us on social media at Two Broad Casters.
The Two Broads welcome special guest, Mike Maharrey from The 10th Amendment Center & Schiff Gold website to discuss where we are with debt; both nationally and personally. Mike is also an author, public speaker, hockey player and sax player making for an all around interesting guy. Of course the conversation meanders into other important reminders we all could use thinking about. Tune in and share! You can find more information pertaining to Mike and his works at:
www.michaelmaharrey.com

Childlike grown ups. Sometimes it seems we are surrounded by people who have taken the "I'll never grow up" approach to life. The broads discuss the Peter Pan Syndrome on this episode. Does having a childlike heart mean you should not mature? Is immaturity causing a host of problems? Why is maturity seemingly an unsavory word? What is happening? Come fly with us on this discussion Broad Band!! Chime in on the socials to expand our conversation on this topic.
The truth is, humans need boundaries in our lives for most things we do. Isn't lack of boundaries how we end up with bad habits? Most are pretty good with setting boundaries, until it comes to personal relationships but boy are those the ones we truly need at some points in our life. Never easy; always a wise move though. Boundaries have to be connected to our acknowledgement that we cannot control others behavior. Simple to understand but not easy in practice. The Broads have a conversation regarding this in this cast and they have both had to set up some pretty hard boundaries to set.
Join the two broads conversation regarding happiness. Is that the ultimate thing to be pursuing? What if in the pursuit of something else, you find what actually brings contentment vs happiness? Is happiness illusive or a spontaneous happening despite what our circumstances are without any pursuit? Mental food for thought, broad style.
The Two Broads have special guest, Max Hutchinson on the show today discussing AI & The Arts. Unscripted, uncensored and a wild ride in their discussion about how AI may affect the creatives. A very broad and thought provoking topic that meanders into all sorts of aspects and perspectives in regards to this issue. The emphasis on money spent and the same old core curriculum from government education is a model not working. Summer is a great time to dig deep into what it is that YOU think will best suit your child for the time in which they live. What can prepare them best? Why do we lament the lack of so much so often over the results we see each day from the years young people are kept in school. Time to be bold and start asking serious questions for what is best for your family. The broads discuss and filters are off.
In this weeks episode the broads enter into some salty discussion about the importance of art for themselves and within the culture. Are we in healthy appreciation of the arts or merely consumers of art? Do we make art and artists into idols? Are we tapping into our own creativity? Does our taste in art reveal something about ourselves? Does art help to unite or divide our culture? All that and more food for thoughts.
The Two Broads have a love for home education and feel it an important topic to bring to our mix of broad topics. In this episode we examine the common fear or concern of how our kids may "get behind" if they are at home. Our main remedy is fully realizing the truth of, get behind what??

What starts from an inspiration resulting from one of the broads gaining a new family member, the two broads meander the conversation into having much to say about group identity and more. Rest assured though that somehow it gets brought back to the beauty of family and how we can strengthen ours to foster individual knowing and identity vs being thrown to the whimsical wolves of the day and avoid attaching ourselves to others thoughts and identities.
This episode finds us talking about coping skills. What are good coping skills? How do people cope? What happens when folks aren't good at coping? Coping is another one of those really important skills that most humans missed a class on. We are not born with coping skills so it is not a bad idea to draw attention to this topic. Nobody likes to be around a person who has no coping skills; in fact, it could turn into a toxic situation.
Honestly, we all have super powers that we could all tap into more and one of them is the power of encouragement. Buckle up, tune in.
Do you have a mentor? Do you mentor someone? Is there enough mentoring happening? Are people increasingly becoming more unteachable due to triggers? The Broads ask a lot of questions for a good discussion on the importance of mentoring.

In this episode the two broads have a frank discussion on aging and hopefully shed some perspectives that run counter culture to our youth and beauty obsession. Don't miss this one.
Aging gets a pretty bad wrap but is it all bad? Do we have a shallow perspective of it? Are we just that obsessed with beauty that we mourn when wrinkles appear? Are we wasting time on such matters and missing out on some of the attributes of aging? All this and more as the Two Broads have a good conversation on the topic.

Comfort zones. How comfortable are they? Perhaps it could serve us better by calling them discomfort zones. In the pursuit of security, safety, regularity and success why are so many still unhappy? Perhaps the things we pursue are not the things that bring us a sense of purpose? The Broads discuss.
The Two Broads discuss college a bit differently and drill into why it is so encouraged for everyone. Why do so many believe it is "the way"? For far too many it just isn't and that should be okay and without societal shaming. College should be a place of real individual goals and value for oneself not merely grades 13-16 to "get a job". Salty takes on the topic.
We humans seem to have a bad tendency towards comparing our lives to others and many of the lives we compare ours to are to people we don't even know. It's a trap and it keeps you away from what you should be becoming. The 2 Broads waste no time getting salty on this topic and shed some light.

In this, the first episode of Two Broad Casters, Sarah and Lauri basically start the podcast off with a comedy of technical errors then proceed to give the listener a little back drop to who we are, our friendship and what one can expect from our show. Basically, it's about getting the first one over with so the next one can sound that much better.
