Today was a good day in the city. The Stop Mass Incarceration Network called for a solidarity rally and march to be held here in NYC and across the nation. I went with my friends, comrades and allies from the International Action Center, Peoples Power Assembies, Occu-Evol and the WWP to Union Square this afternoon.
I will have a few clips from today's actions and, of course, some thoughts on the whole situation.

It should be a really interesting show tonight. Over the weekend, I was with over 50,000 folks here in NYC - out in the streets - demading justice and shutting things down. I'll have new clips from the march out of Washington Square Park as well as some commentary on the week's events.
Also, I attended a screening of a documentary about the situation in Ferguson made by Rebel Diaz and shown at the Maysles Cinema here in Harlem, hosted by Rebel Diaz. I'll share my experience at the event and have more clips. The documenatry is called The Mike Brown Rebellion and it is available on youtube. I know how mentally and emotionally invested many people are in the system but perhaps there is another way forward that doesn't involve rubberstamping one of the two major party candidates each cycle. I am looking forward to hearing their reponses, reasoning and evidence. This will be a very good discussion, especially for all those who keep voting each cycle and keep getting much much less than what was expected.
I think the Election Boycott Advocates are on to something here. We won't be talking about "Electoral Politics" - as in - who is right or wrong or better to lead us - or who is lesser evil or who is bat shit crazy. We will be talking the goals and usefullness of the boycott movement and what things might look like down the road.

Prompted by the trauma of graduating high school and having to leave his beloved city of Detroit to attend college, the development his social skills and world view was arrested at age 18. This affliction figures prominently in all of his creative work. He is author of eight novels, four of which are coming out in 2014 and 2015. He has also had over 30 short stories, 7 poems, and numerous political articles published in both print and online magazines.
