Hey, what's happening? Listen Up is a weekly podcast from me, Oli Baseley. I'm a Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Sheffield and a huge podcast junkie! In the podcast, I delve into topics that interest me and interview interesting people from a variety of fields; to hopefully produce an informative yet entertaining show! So come along for the ride and check out the podcast. What's the worst that could happen?

In august, whilst in New York, I had the pleasure of meeting Ariel at the MMA Hour Studios. Ariel is a journalist for MMAfighting.com, which is owned by Vox Media, and he's widely regarded as the best journalist in the sport of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).
He's won the MMA journalist of the year award 7 times, in a 10 year career. Ariel is notorious for being the guy to follow for UFC news. In 2016 his relationship with the UFC disintegrated and he was briefly banned from covering the sport.
In the interview, Ariel spoke about his career before we started to discuss some more regular questions. He gave some great insight into the struggle required to get to where he is today.
I've been lucky to speak to a lot of people, but Ariel was my favourite. He's in my opinion the best Sports Journalist in the world and his Show the MMA Hour is groundbreaking! I've looked up to him for many years and hope we have more interviews in the future!

Eric Jackman is best known as the producer of the MMA Hour, he also co owns a PR company that has clients such as Onnit & Glory Kickboxing.
I sat down with Eric whilst visiting Vox Media's studios back in August. We discussed his career, the MMA Hour show, his relationship with Ariel Helwani and much more!

James Golding recently became the 7-day distance cycling world record holder, but there is so much more to him than appears on his resume. James is a father, husband and a two-time cancer survivor. He's a shining example to many who's story should be heard by as many as possible.

I met James at a recent 24-hour endurance event as was blown away by all that he's accomplished. When I started the interview I didn't quite know what to expect, but the way James told his story was remarkable. It's very touching and powerful!

In the inaugural episode of 'Listen Up!', I initially explain about the show, me & why I started the podcast. I discuss the upcoming episodes and let you know all the details!
(5:12) I get into the Student media & media industry section of the episode after listening to our snazzy intro music! I go on to discuss why I'm passionate about this topic, how I got involved in student media and we hear from our first interviewee Dan Walker the BBC tv presenter (11:16).
(13:44) I react to Dan's comment and then introduce our second interview with Alexander Armstrong. He is a BBC presenter & comedian, who is famous for the TV shows pointless & Have I Got News For You (17:00).
(23:18) We hear from Sally Asher who was formerly the editor of one of the largest US Student papers, The Daily Collegian.
