A lively discussion about comics, television, film and everything else making waves this week inside fan culture.
Slather some butter on your popcorn and settle in for Ka-Pow the Pop Cultured Podcast’s annual Movie Preview! We go month by month, breaking down all the films - both big and small - scheduled for 2018. Stay until the end to hear us each declare which one we are most anticipating, as well as bold predictions about which will end up being our favorite flick of the year. We also keep up the tradition of letting Michael try and guess the plots of any of the really obscure ones. If your resolution is to see more great movies, then we have your next twelve months planned right here!

Ka-Pow the Pop Cultured Podcast wraps up the year with a brand new episode, where Michael regales us with a story about being attacked by an elderly dog and we copyright the word “podcast.” There’s also some stuff about another underwhelming finale for “The Walking Dead,” a nostalgia-fueled documentary on Netflix, a slew of new comic book releases and a peek under the mask of “Riverdale’s” Black Hood killer, but really, it’s all a bit anticlimactic after the geriatric dog stuff. Happy New Year, Jesses, and here’s to a 2018 even more down with KPP!

Three is most definitely company, as the trio of Jordan, Cliff and Seth gather to review “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.” SPOILERS abound, because we zealously break down every moment worth breaking down, thoroughly dissecting the plot, the characters and the themes. For a big budget franchise film, it’s surprisingly divisive and controversial, spawning both unrealistic petitions from fans and scholarly examinations from critics. So, in one of Ka-Pow the Pop Cultured Podcast’s longest and most passionate movie reviews, we strive to slice through the hoopla and honestly examine where we’ve come from and where we might be headed in our favorite galaxy far, far away.

In our slap-happiest episode ever, we tried to squeeze a quick “Riverdale” recap in after our previous recording. But after already doing a full episode, then 45 minutes of political debate, a case of beer, some cold fish and a freezer full of delicious Push ‘Ems, it was almost 2 AM by the time we called it quits and the results are a bit… let’s say… unhinged. But we do our sleep-deprived best to cover season 2, episodes #6-8, “Death Proof,” “Tales from the Darkside” and “House of the Devil” as thoroughly as this terrific show deserves in this one-of-a-kind go-round of Ka-Pow the Pop Cultured Podcast.

We get a little long-winded in this brand new episode of Ka-Pow the Pop Cultured Podcast (and at least one of us gets a little tipsy as well). But how can you blame us, with so many exciting things to cover! It starts by catching up with Michael and his new life on the road as a Schwan’s man, recapping Seth and Jordan’s almost-record breaking trivia night and a few more thoughts about the “Justice League” movie. Then it’s diving into reviews of Hulu’s “Runaways,” the epic CW crossover “Crisis on Earth X” and Cliff’s divided loyalties when it comes to the potential Disney deal with Fox and how it might not be such a great thing for fans. So drop a quarter in our swear jar because it’s Batuu or Bust for your pals at Ka-Pow!

Join us for a completely “Riverdale”-free Ka-Pow the Pop Cultured Podcast! That’s right, by not talking about our favorite show for an ENTIRE episode, it frees up plenty of time for the four of us - and returning guest, the Mayor Jared Lowe - to share our thoughts on the impact of all these Hollywood scandals, a brand new “Star Wars” trilogy, more on “Stranger Things 2,” all those other CW shows and the earth-shaking defection of Brian Michael Bendis from Marvel to DC Comics. We catch up on an awful lot of news here, so stock up on the spicy pepitas!

It’s a big week for us here at Ka-Pow the Pop Cultured Podcast. The return of the CW lineup of television shows means more “Riverdale” to lose our minds over, a trailer for “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” gives us plenty to chew on and a modern sci-fi masterpiece in “Blade Runner 2049″ keeps us thinking about it even a week later.
