A thought-provoking show about ethics in an increasingly secular society. How to nonreligious parents discuss ethics with their kids? Also book reviews and political chat. Based in Barnet, UK.
This week’s show is an interview with my good friend Ed Kearon. We discussed
The overlap between kids and toddlers
Setting boundaries
Educating kids in animal literacy
Safety and approaching animals right
Nutrition
Phobias and fears around dogs
Please show Ed some love via Facebook or Instagram by messaging him using #jointhepack and don’t hesitate to look him up if you’re thinking of getting an animal for your kids and you live in London. After the fun we had chatting about this topic, a little plug for his work is the least I can do!
This episode is a kiddie chat, mostly recorded material from the kids at bathtime, but finishes with a rant. I ask the kids about how they identify, where they come from and what they think about remembrance. The conversation is a bit stilted around remembrance as they’re still young. But still, their insights are pretty engaging.
The rant is a response to this article from the Independent.

Episode 11 - Save Barnet Libraries Interview
In this episode I interview Anne Clarke from the Save Barnet Libraries campaign. We discuss
The background to the campaign
The effects of library cuts
Funding
Security companies and who benefits
Anne asked me to make the following correction after the recording:
“With hindsight, I wish I’d mentioned that library usage hadn’t been shrinking in Barnet and children’s loans were up.”

Episode 10 - Adam Reakes Interview
This show took a while to produce! Apologies to listeners.
Adam Reakes is a well-known voice in the skeptical, atheist and humanist communities and kindly gave up an hour of his time to record this interview. Theo and I crashed the spanking new podcasters’ booth in London’s Maple Street Studios (thanks again!) and chatted with Adam all the way from Australia.
We cover a range of topics from Brexit to the future of Humanism as well as spanking kids and bizarre medicine cocktails.

Episode 9 - Satanism: The Devil’s Harlot
This week’s show is an interview with Leopold Pan, spokesperson from the London Satanic Temple.
Episode 8 - How to Raise Kids as Feminists (Part 2 of 2)
This is a podcast aimed at atheist and Humanist parents, addressing how we talk to our kids about ethics. The term “atheist” explains what we don’t believe in. But how do we define what atheist parents do in fact believe? Well, that’s where Humanism comes in.
A Humanist believes in doing good for its own sake, and defining what’s right or wrong based on the context, time and culture, rather than referring our problems to a higher [...]
