Strap yourselves in ladies & gents because this episode of Axons Unleashed is one of the best so far (which is a BIG call…) Hot off the heels of an incredibly successful inaugural Veteran Games, Heston Russell joins the boys in our studio. A mini-reunion of sorts, as “Hesto” talks about his time at ADFA with Luke, running into Captain “Guns ‘n’ Buns” Turner at RMC-D, how Hesto finally entered the SOCOMD world, before hearing why he decided to discharge from the ADF.
It's a cracking chat between three mates, who love being veterans, that finds itself discussing Hesto in politics, his experiences with November Platoon in Afghanistan, his (now famous) PTI Nanna and of course how the Veteran Games came to be.
On this podcast, you will discover things about Hesto you did not know about him.

A very special guest on this episode of Axons Unleashed, Adrian Sutter, has a familiar story to any Veteran. Discharging from the military after his sister’s passing from cancer, Adrian struggled with his own mental health, which eventually led to thoughts of suicide. Soon after, one of his closest mates took his own life in the throes of his own struggles. This was Adrian’s action point. Everything about him was saying no more! This is where Swiss 8 was born. Hear the rest of this story in heart-wrenching (but incredibly important) detail as Adrian joins RT and Luke for a monumental episode of Axons Unleashed that asks us all to be better at life.

Wheels Up! Get ready for some banter and hilarity in this episode of Axons Unleashed as fellow veteran, property-based small business-owner, Phil Game, joins RT and Luke in the studio. RT’s story and evolution into the property industry is very similar to Phil's (and the similarities don’t stop there! He even has a Tammy…) Phil tells us his journey from growing up in Papua New Guinea, to a poor Uni student in Sydney, loving the cockpit of a helicopter in the Australian Army, and his success story of another Veteran living his best life.
Alongside the Axon boys, this episode touches on knowing when it's time to transition, the importance of long-term planning in business and the enduring friendships formed in the ADF.

This cracking episode has not one but two enlistment stories… from the same solider! An uncommon story even amongst our guests, Sam tells his incredible journey from enlistment as a teenager, to discharge shortly after, to despair as a civvie, and back into the ADF again -proudly serving his country.
This is a journey that would not be possible without serious doses of humility and reflection of past mistakes, with the seeking of improvement.
With all the life lessons Sam explains, his story is an uplifting one that has him in a really good place - with plenty more to come. Don’t miss the episode and stick around to the end for a very unexpected, first time guest appearance…

When Luke was first posted to East Timor as part of the DCP, he was completely unaware of the journey ahead of him. What was meant to be a 24-month posting of a lifetime with his new son and wife, soon changed to become a nightmare that would not end.
This situation eventually saw Luke medically discharge from a budding career as an Army Officer. On this episode hear an incredibly vulnerable and moving recount from Luke himself as he sits with RT to properly debrief the challenges and struggles faced by him and his family during an almost 5-year tenure abroad.

RT often talks about how the “soft-landing” into a veteran-supporting workplace can be THE difference between a good transition from the military and a not-so-good one…
Anthony Macshane also believes this, so he has committed his life's work to providing that “soft-landing” for veterans. Interestingly, he also specialises in helping ex-offenders, transition back into society from prison. A second chance can sometimes be the difference between a second life and losing one.

Matt Lodden first pursued a career in ADF to attain his dream of becoming a pilot. After navigating many forks-in-the-road, Matt found himself on a different path - one of continued education, including passing on knowledge himself as an instructor at RMC-Duntroon.

On a mind-opening episode of Axon’s Unleashed, Robbie and Matt chat about that sentiment passed down from a well-known and infamous sign at RMC - “Never Stop Learning”. Clearly there is something in that outlook!

The final piece of the puzzle in this season is by no means the least! Nigel and Erica from iBuild are a husband and wife team with more than 35 years of experience.
Hear from them on how their passion, processes and attention to detail protect you and enforce the high level of build quality that Axon demands.
What is the biggest fear most people have when diving into property investing? In our experience, it is finding a tenant ASAP after the build is completed. Not just any tenant, the right tenant! How does Axon alleviate that fear? By having a very close and awesome relationship with a top gun property management firm. In this episode, you’ll meet the delightful Angela Paradise, National Relationship Manager, Little Real Estate. Hear how Angie attending a WAGs lunch and Robbie’s “the best steak sandwich ever” led Angie to be an essential part of the wider Axon family.
How special and important is a personalised experience in the insurance realm? Furthermore, how does this week's guest from InsuranceWeb, Jason Matthey, stand out even more in the insurance world? Robbie and Jason have known each other for over 7 years and have been working closely since Axon started. You’ll get to meet Jason and discover what advantages he brings to the Axon Group.
Where does a lifetime obsession with numbers lead you? Just ask this week's special guest Jace Cosgrove, owner and founder of “Your Wealth Corporation”.
Another perfectly aligned member of the greater Axon Group, Jace has been serving the Axon community since our inception. How was this trust formed? There is no-one that knows your numbers better - listen in to find out.

In this episode, you’ll hear how Debbie got her start in mortgage broking and how her attitude, mentality and approach makes her the perfect fit for anyone wanting to get the best financial outcome.
What are the top mistakes people commonly make when building a property and how do you avoid them?
Jane Kelly is our special guest for this week’s episode. Jane is the head of our Build Support Department, one of Axon’s most senior employees, and also one of the few ‘civvies’ on the team! How exactly did she end up here with us, what does the Build Support do, and how do they project manage the build of our client’s properties? Listen in to this episode to find out.

Join Robbie & Tami for this special episode of Axons Unleashed and get prepared for our all guest season two....
One of our favourite things about the team at Axon is just how many veterans we are able to employ. In the final episode of Season 1, the team talk about the traits that come with that, the environment and culture in Axon, and also the changes that are needed, especially from a leadership perspective.
So what exactly is this core principle that Axon is built around? In this episode, Robbie details how his 10 years as a Commando officer taught him the unique skills and lessons that allowed him to develop his own highly successful method to playing the property game at the highest level.
As everything changed in 2020, Axon found themselves in a unique position where the business was still buoyant and actually able to grow. The fast introduction of new team members led to a surge in capability and everyone needed to learn how to run - very quickly… after ‘drinking from the firehose!’
For 75 days Robbie and Dan committed completely and whole-heartedly to Andy Frisella’s “75 Hard” program. Working out twice a day, eating clean, no alcohol and reading everyday for personal development. Now on the other side of this intense and testing challenge, Robbie and Dan sit down with Tamara to discuss how “hard” it actually was and what they learnt about themselves in the process. Don’t miss this bonus episode of Axons Unleashed.
The team at Axon has grown rapidly, but one of the most important additions to the team wasn’t as easy as it should have been! In this episode, hear about how Dane and “Mr Turner” did the “friend-zone” dance that led to Dane becoming one of the elite Axon Property Coaches.
Moving the business from a residential rental property into a proper commercial office was a big step and a step into being a ‘grown-up business!’ As always, the team adapted and overcame the hoops to jump through. Just in time for the business planning trip to Hawaii…
Finding our niche within the ADF community, and having the courage to completely commit and align to only that small section of the market, was a huge step for the business! In this episode the team talks about how making that decisive move allowed the business to grow faster than any other in the industry.
It was a gutsy move that did NOT pay off... sacking your wife from the business is not for the faint-hearted!
How an unexpected phone call and a life-changing injury to Robbie nearly made Axon go under after only a few months!
And it is not what you think…
Our hosts tell us the story about how Tinder gave Robbie the opportunity to use the influence of Tinder to create his dream business in the property industry.
