Evenly split, with James and I anti and Parker and Nico pro this album. I slander new Austin, Texas residents a little in this one (a lot). One of the better episodes we've made because the album was so divisive, which I did not expect.
Taylor Swift takes the sound of Midnights and stretches it over not 16 but 31 tracks, with cryptic writing that will satisfy swfities but leave the unintiated scratching their heads and wincing at questionable writing choices ... on an album that markets itself as poetry-adjacent.

We have decisiveness and indecisiveness in this in-person episode, covering the whole range of certainties. FKA Twigs' voice is as soothing, dynamic and striking as anyone's on this album. She delivers something truly atmospheric, even with a sometimes very sparse mix. Listen in.

This record took us by storm, and for the remaining episode we concern ourselves with whether it could be better, and how. Tune in for a nuanced discussion of how to critique a record that, on its face, is so good in so many areas. Those triumphs notwithstanding, we still find some ways it could have been better. Unknown Mortal Orchestra's 2018 album Sex and Food makes no mention of food - not even once. Hunnybee doesn't count. As for sex, its music so thats all over the place depending on how touchy your ears are. This one's got yelling and whispering, all through a mic connected to a chorus box connected to a delay pedal connected to a reverb circuit connected to a very deep puddle connected to Ableton, compressed and the served to you on a platter made from sparse instrumentals and at times, FUZZ! Whatever, just listen in for the rec, some divergent opinions in this one.

Just Parker and Sam for this episode. We talk about Perfume Genius' 2020 effort, why it's great, and why its hard to appreciate its long spans of silence and incredibly quiet composition. But its not bad, we're bad. Still, wait for the rec, this one isn't as simple as the others.
