We should all take advantage of any opportunity to reflect on where you are and where you are going next. We naturally do this at the beginning and even the end of events. The second of the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People is to "Begin with the end in mind." I submit that one of the best times to reset is right in the middle! Think about it: you can make adjustments that will impact the end result.
In this episode, Kat shares her insights on how to conduct a Midyear Reset, use what you have learned so far this year and map out your plan for the second half of the year.
To paraphrase the Chinese proverb about planting trees, the best time to to take action was six months ago, the second best time is right now! Listen to the episode for details about each of the steps and commit to take action.

In my last episode, I talked about planning as one of my keys to living unhurried. Today, I am going to tell you about my other non-negotiable. It is called the Miracle Morning and it has helped me level up my life in every area.
In late 2018, I had the opportunity to hear Hal Elrod, the author of the book The Miracle Morning, interviewed on a podcast. I was immediately intrigued by his passion and enthusiasm. His amazing story and the journey that led him to create a morning routine completely captured my attention and inspired me to read the book leading to the start of a practice of my own. The core of the practice is known as the "SAVERS," an acronym that stands for silence, affirmations, visualization, exercise, reading and scribing (journaling). Completing my Miracle Morning is non-negotiable. With it, I am able to start each day centered, grounded and unhurried!

As a wife, mother of three, and entrepreneur my schedule is full--before I take care of our home, prepare meals, serve in my community, or have any fun. It would be easy to to feel stressed and overwhelmed with managing. Instead, I am busy. Busy in the all right ways and busy doing the right things. I can truly say that I live unhurried and it's because of one simple nonnegotiable: I do not skip my planning time!
Did you know that you are up 80% more likely to execute a written weekly plan than a plan that is in your head?
In this episode, I explain why it's so important to me and share my "super not-so-secret" planning steps. Planning takes discipline but gives you freedom at the same time; the more I embrace it, the more flexible I can be. Now, when I look at my full calendar, instead of feeling overwhelmed, I feel invigorated. I know when busy weeks are coming and have a plan for how I am going to approach them. Doubling down on my approach to planning brought more clarity and focus to my life across the board.
Pro-Ninja Tips from the Episode
1. Do not look at your calendars in silos--create a master calendar
2. If you get off track, turn the page and keep going. Planning is a discipline that develops by committing to it.
3. Communicate your calendar to those that support you and that you support.
Show Notes-Only Bonus Tip: Planning is an act of selfcare. Once you have an overview of your schedule, you can also protect blocks of time to recharge and rest.

In this episode, I share some thoughts about the importance of vision boards. A simple Google search yielded nearly TWO BILLION links on the subject.
Vision, by definition is the ability to think about or plan the future with imagination or wisdom. A vision board, then, is a physical representation of your dreams and plans. Their popularity has increased over the last 20 years. They have gone from poster boards with magazine cuttings glued to them to Pinterest dream boards and now people are making vision videos.
VISION BOARDS
Creating an effective vision board is definitely a "garbage in, garbage out" situation. Which means, if the images do not resonate you or don't make sense, then spending time looking at it will not change anything for you. Whether you have a vision board or not, having a vision for your life is critical. How you connect to that vision is entirely up to you. Setting clear intentions and taking deliberate action is the only way to achieve goals.
I am personally a big fan of vision boards. I use my vision to write my goals and my goals to write my action plans. As I take action, I learn new things which sometimes lead to my making revisions to my vision board. I have learned that there is nothing wrong with realizing that what I thought I wanted and what I actually wanted were two different things. My vision boards is living, breathing representation of I am becoming.
ACTION BOARDS
I have recently started to create quarterly action boards, which serve a different function. The idea is to put together a visual representation of what I want to complete over each 90-day period. I ask myself questions like "What do I need to complete that I have been putting off?" or "What uncomfortable action do I need to take?" Once I have the answers to these questions, I find images that represent them and create a rolling action board. When I review and update each 30 days, I am celebrating what I am able to check off and completely committed to the next thing.
You are becoming who you are going to be this time next year RIGHT NOW. Do you know what you look like? How you feel? Where you are? What you’re doing? What about who you are spending time with and the conversations you are having? These are the types of questions that you should answer as you create your vision board. Once you have answered them, you can start living into that life.

It's the time of the year that everyone starts to focus more on what they are planning to do in the next on. You do not have to look hard to find information about New Year's resolutions, goal setting, and making plans for 2022 right now. For years, I would write lists of my resolutions or goals for each area of my life. I found that I would stay on track with some things but not others--it was a rollercoaster of ups and downs. My first time around with having a "word of the year" was the same--up and down. Until five years ago, I had an opportunity to hear one of the authors of One Word That Will Change Your Life and my relationship with the practice totally changed.
In this episode, I am going to talk about having a word of the year practice--specifically how I approach it, what I have gained from it and why I think you should start.

I recommend children's version; I shared it with elementary-age students and was amazed at how much they loved the concept. It's called One Word for Kids: A Great Way to Have the Best Year Ever!

The last 30 days of 2021 are here—are you ready to make them your best? How are you going to set intention? What action will you take to create positive momentum to carry you into 2022? One of my favorite definitions of unhurried is deliberate. I do not know if there is a better time to focus on deliberate intention setting and taking progressive action than now.
John Maxwell says, “Consistency compounds.” This statement is true for both good and not-so-good habits. If you set clear intention for the rest of this month, combine it with progressive action and you will reap the benefits of the compound effect of doing so. In this episode, I give you two simple statements to help you set intention and identify the daily action that you need to take.
These two statements will help you set yourself up to win IF you act on them. The next thing is to KNOW YOUR WHY, which is critical--because it is the thing that will keep you moving when you want to stop. "People don't burn out and give up because of what they are doing; they burn out and give up because they forgot why they are doing it." I highly recommend that you watch the Dean Graziosi video linked below or search for a "7 Levels Deep" exercise on your own to find the why behind your why.
Remember--go for the micro-wins with consistency for the next 30 days. It will propel you into 2022 with purpose and before you know it, the BIG wins that you are going after will be yours.
