Michael Jackson may be gone but his "MJ" sneaker line is likely to ressurected with the new owners at LA Gear. According to a posting at the website lagearnews.com:
"Since the release of the updated Unstoppable line by current brand-owner ACI last December, there has been a lot of dialogue among fans old and new, about bringing back the "MJ" collection. Like so many of you, we'd love to see the sneakers come back so we can be part of a new chapter in the unique relationship Michael had with those who loved him. While we can't confirm any details at the moment, we have shared many of the comments we've received with ACI and Sportie LA, and we know that they've taken the fans' sentiments to heart. They have expressed an interest in reaching out to one of the many charities with whom Michael worked so closely and possibly collaborating with them in some way."
Sounds like a slam dunk. The King of Pop is dead. Long live the King!

badera4eu5.jpgToday, thousands of people at Staples Center here in Los Angeles - and millions more across the globe - celebrate the life and work of Michael Jackson.
We call ourselves fans, but really that's an understatement and a misnomer. We stood in awe of his talent and originality, and we stand there still, reeling from the sudden loss of this icon.

Here at LaGearNews.com, we have been reminded over the past days of Michael's impact on pop culture and fashion, specifically via his relationships with Pepsi and LA Gear.
Countless emails and comments have come in about the famed LA Gear "MJ" sneakers he48vwsp3.jpg inspired, and an equal number of calls for a revival of the product. At its core, the groundswell represents an outpouring of affection for Michael and an acknowledgment of his influence beyond his music.
This movement began even prior to his passing. Since the release of the updated Unstoppable line by current brand-owner ACI last December, there has been a lot of dialogue among fans old and new, about bringing back the "MJ" collection.

In the below video, Francis Ford Coppola takes YouTube viewers on a casual spin through his Napa Valley "office." The clip is noteworthy because the director of such films as "The Godfather" and "Apocalypse Now" is holding the camera himself in the grand (and awkward) tradition of Web autocinema.
As he explains a few themes from his upcoming movie, "Tetro," which is only his second credited film as director in the last decade, he also lets slip a bit of workaholic neurosis. It's kind of endearing, considering it comes from an auteur of his stature:
"I should be working on yet another screenplay or doing any number of jobs I'm supposed to be working on." Courtesy LA Times.
The golf gods have decided that it's time for mere mortals to live in fear again as they unleash the Tiger force back upon the links. That's right, baby, Tiger's back and it's bad news for golfers who have been enjoying easy pickings in his absence. Nike's rolling out a humorous ad earmarking Tiger's return. Perhaps Nike should change it's tag for Tiger from "Just do it" to "I give up". Golf just got exciting again!
Mickey Rourke was robbed and Sean Penn knows it! "You Commie, homo-loving sons of guns," said Sean Penn as he thanked the academy for giving him the best actor Oscar for his role as slain gay rights activist Harvey Milk.
Rourke gave a haunting performance of broken down man at the crossroads but apparently his performance was not enough to sway Academy voters from a message film like "Milk" which deals with gay rights and equality which are lightning bolt issues especially given California's Prop 8's ban on gay marriage. Mondo knows there's an Oscar in Mickey's future and if the role has a gay bent all the better.
A picture may be worth a thousand words but an entire video of Bar Refeali Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Cover Model 2009 is priceless!
You're company's advertising campaign going nowhere fast? Try using your head, literally as a billboard to spread your message to the masses. Granted, bald advertising isn't beautiful, in fact, it's more reminiscent of a car crash that you just can't help but steal a glance at. Will it actually work? It's got me talking about it and other members of the blogosphere taking notice, but soon the novelty will wear off and we'll be off twittering about something more profound like sprinkles on an ice cream cone or not? Mondo's practicing girth control and votes no sprinkles for his ice cream.
Dollhouse sure is generating a ton of buzz. Mondo enjoyed it very much and thinks it could be a big hit on Fridays. Joss Whedon delivers a very original show packed full of action and adventure. Eliza Dushku finally gets to step out of the shadow of Faith from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Meanwhile, Banshee's Dollhouse review at Freaking Scary was less favorable. In fact, there's a group of folks who think there's a conspiracy going on to sabotage the show as evidenced by Joel Watson's cartoon at http://hijinksensue.com/

It's Valentine's Day! Guys, Mondo knows, he feels your pain, "Not another freaking holiday, a made up one by the Kansas City greeting card mafia, to blow money on!" Like most of you, Mondo will be lucky to if he only drops two bills tonight on drinks, dinner and debauchery. Personally, I look at Valentine's day as a sin tax day because if you don't pay then you don't play. Mondo wants to thank his pal, writer/comedian Tom Alexander for creating the JibJab Valentine Greeting. Funny stuff! Ghirardelli Valentine's Paper Heart Gift
Cemeteries are full of good men who were irreplaceable. Still Brett Farve's retirement from the NFL, albeit not a surprise, leaves a void in the league at a time when a nation clamors for true sports' heroes. Whether you like Farve as a quarterback or not doesn't really matter because he was good for the game both on the field and off. The soon to be future Hall of Famer will always be remembered for his courage under fire, dignity and winning ways. Thanks for making NFL exciting! Exit your car lease early - no penalties!
Forget Batman and Robin, there’s a new dynamic duo named Obama and Clinton bringing global justice, spreading a message of hope and moving people to tears as is the case in point in Sneaker Girl’s latest YouTube dispatch. Seems the doe-eyed slavic beauty’s all choked up about Hillary Clinton becoming the third woman to be named Secretary of State and the prospects for a better way of life for all in America.
Mondo knows one thing, when a woman struggles to find the right words, as tears well in her eyes then you best focus your attention.
Indeed, it’s a message of inspiration when political rivals Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton put aside personal, ideological differences for the greater good. Politics just got a whole lot cooler!
And as an added bonus, the Sneaker Girl posted her own message of economic hope: Use my code 4545 for ONE DAY ONLY (Wednesday February 11th, 2009) to get 10% OFF any LA Gear shoes from SportieLa.com. Now, that’s an economic stimulus plan Mondo’s gonna take advantage of!

Hold the Pizza! You can imagine Mondo's surprise after Papa John's Pizza King, John Schnatter, advised his patrons to eat less pizza. Is Pizza bad for you? "No. Pizza's actually healthy for you if you don't eat too much of it," Schnatter replied, adding, "You can't eat five or six slices but if you eat one or two slices it's very nutritious." Thanks, Papa John, thanks for setting the record straight. Too bad, Mondo's already maxed out his business credit card at your store. What's your return policy?
Apparently, eight is not enough for Octuplet Mom, Nadya Suleman who has six other children at home. That's a lot of mouths to feed. How does she manage? Nadya Suleman collected almost $168,000 in state disability payments for an on-the-job back injury that she and a doctor said was worsened by pregnancy, according to state documents released Thursday.
The 33 year old mother became pregnant with all 14 of her children after a 1999 injury during a riot at a state mental hospital where she worked, state Division of Workers' Compensation documents show. Mondo just thinks that's crazy!
World Nude Day? Never heard of it, neither did Mondo, but there's some fun loving, uninhibited and very naked New Zealanders who on February 6th video themselves au natural. Apparently, these home movies are quite funny as in this one at the car wash. I hope he skipped the hot wax!
The White House was invaded this morning by unwelcomed guests: a group of raccoons that evaded capture by the National Park Service. "The idea of raccoons on the White House grounds give us great pause," spokesman Bill Burton said. The Washington Post reports that "one very large raccoon and several medium-sized raccoons" were seen on the grounds and have managed to avoid the "live traps" (with apples, cat food and peanut butter) set up to nab the animals.
Mondo thinks the White House ought to give these raccoons a credit card and let them stay at a Quality Inn hotel with broadband satellite internet phone and pool. After all, I'm sure the raccoons were just in town for the inauguration and needed a place to crash.
Remember during the election John McCain boasting that he knew where Bin Laden was? Vote for me, and I'll get the bastard. Well, Johnny boy, election's over, put away the political rhethoric, and dish. Stop being a maverick and start being a patriot. Reach across the isle and tell us where Bin Laden is hiding. We're all in this together.

Time for Bud to get wiser about it's brand marketing after this year's Super Bowl misfire. Time for Budweiser to stop horsing around with the Budweiser Brand. Time for the Budweiser Clydesdales to hit the glue factory. Time for Budweiser fire their ad agency and rethink their marketing. Am I serious? Absolutely, Budweisers's Super Bowl ads featuring these huge beasties plumb new levels of sentimental, nostalgic drivel that would make any serious beer drinker reconsider their choice of the "King of Beers". In fact, I witnessed several such serious Bud drinkers switch brands during the Super Bowl party I was at because they didn't want to be associated with such a lame advertising campaign - when asked what beer they were drinking the response was "Anything but Budweiser."

The Bible says that you should turn the other cheek when struck, but then God never had to direct a huge action blockbuster like the Watchmen based on a limited series of 12 comic book. No, that thankless task fell to the immensely talented director, Zack Snyder most recently of 300 film fame.
Given the recent fan boy fervor at Comic Con over the Watchmen project you might be inclined to believe that Snyder, while no deity, is a strong candidate at least for sainthood. Once again, Snyder delivers a film filled with arresting visual imagery, stellar performances and nonstop action as these outcast superheroes who refuse to turn the other check and instead band together to delivery their own brand of justice. Watchmen does not disappoint. Opening soon nationwide.
Yogi Berra summed it up nicely when he said, "It's deja vu all over again," and I must confess that this is exactly how I feel as the Hollywood studio machine recycles another Asian horror classic to give us this flavor of the week: "The Uninvited."
A girl returns from the nuthouse to find Daddy's hooked up with dead Mommy's Nurse, and guess what sport's fans, Nursie may have had something to do with Mommy's death.
Hmmm.... I'm not making this stuff up - I'm not that good of a writer - that's why I'm stuck in blog hell.
Should you go see "The Uninvited"? Depends on if you like horror, then yes. Depends on if you've not seen out all the Oscar nominated films, then no. What if you really have no preference? Then go bowling, it'll do you good.
