Why aren’t (some) business owners doing enough to look after their workforce? Why are CEOs not doing enough to really drive diversity into the company? As a nation do we really understand the struggles people have in balancing their work and life? I get to the root of the issues, the genuine thoughts and feelings around the working world and working mums and dads, and this is a rollercoaster of emotions and thought processes from employers, employees and those who are finding it difficult to get into work. Join me in this journey of changing the mentality of stakeholders and managers alike.
If there’s anything I’ve learnt in business is when and how to say “no”. This is a short story of a time when I turned down aclient who would’ve been with us for perhaps years to come.
Disclaimer: every redundancy matter is different, and employers should seek HR & employment law consultancy advice to manage their redundancy process in the most fair and lawful manner. In this episode I describe in detail how to follow a lawful redundancy process, how to manage the consultations, and what to include in correspondence to employees.
Throughout the years, Ive been asked some very thought-provoking questions. The answers are shocking as the questions. Hopefully these answers will help you if you’re a business owner, or even if your aspiring HR consultancy practice owner. Wait until end to hear my thoughts around what diversity means today! It’ll spark some thought and debate.

There’s no other platform that will give you this knowledge.

Listen to this very real episode on the impact of sleep and lack of sleep & insomnia. While its ok for you to not sleep and try to function, please don't impose this thought process on your staff. The increasing number of stakeholders who expect workers to carry on with no sleep & with high levels of job related stress is hitting an all time high. While targets are important, and yes, having a workforce that understands this is paramount, is not to say that when a member of staff approaches you to say they cannot function properly in their day to day lives as they are having trouble sleeping you should tell them to 'man up' or 'carry on'. Shockingly, I face this with businesses all the time. Maybe if we all knew the dangerous impact that lack of sleep has on us, we might help promote healthy sleep which goes hand hand with work-life-balance. Listening to this episode is your first step in valuing your health and sleep. And doing something about it as an even further step in bettering the quality of your life. Enjoy.
Rob Stone joins me today to talk about how he’s gone from have absolutely nothing to where he is today, turning over £14million a year. Success doesn’t come easy and while Rob speaks about his hunger and his thirst to make it, I’m am wowed but his determination and his resilience. But, every good comes at a price right? Rob tells us about his regrets and his down falls. What would you do in his position?
I have a conversation with Linda Crocket- workplace bullying expert in Canada. Almost all of us have a different definition to what bullying means or how behaviour is exactly defined. Is bullying and act or a behaviour? Is it even bullying if it’s between two professional adults in the workplace? The reason why organisations do not have clear policies on this is because of the very fact that these questions remain unanswered. But today, Linda makes it transparent for both employers and employees on warning signs and pre-aggression acts that lead to workplace bullying. We can all take something from this one. Enjoy.
Erin talks to me about her struggles with being a young single mum to later find out about her son, Jack's Autism. While her path in life wasn't easy she has a very important message to other parents out there who are going through similar situations. And equally importantly, she has a message for all employers in todays corporate world. Listen to Erin's account of her life and the very raw emotions she experienced and how her previous employer and current employer dealt with her as a person.
I have to say, I am in awe of Erin's perseverance in not stopping to achieve all that she wants for herself and her boy, Jack. But, perseverance is only one part of the battle. The other is employers and the education system.
This story is going to touch so many hearts.
Enjoy
A first in the Career Progression and Parenthood series. PARENT GUILT. This phrase resonates with all parents. This sense of guilt is oftentimes down to the fact that parents feel that being at work means that they are not being fully productive parents. This is entirely untrue and today I shift this mindset with my special guest Camilla McGill, founder of My Parenting Solutions. Camilla is a very successful business owner and coach and has over 20 years experience in this field. She says, it takes methodical and analytical approaches in dealing with parent guilt that plays a huge part in a parents feeling comfortable and confident that they are doing a great job. But parents also face backlash and judgement from managers who assume they cannot work effectively in their job whilst managing their children and tantrums at home. And as a result, such individuals are denied opportunities for growth and promotion as they are seen to be risk to the organisation. Dealing with tantrums and parent stresses doesn't at all mean that your performance at work takes a hit, but why do some employers still think this in 2021?! Camilla and I talk about some fantastic methods parents can use to manage tantrums at home so that you can go into work feeling confident that you are a great parent. This episode will REALLY change your thinking as an equal opportunities employer and as a working parent. Enjoy.

Witnessing refugee babies in nappies, confused toddlers and young adults refugees - Personal experiences forced me to raise this topic. But I get into what you can actually do, and you’d be surprised at the amount of options available to you! (It increases positive publicity for you too)! Listen to today’s episode to find out what it took to raise this conversation….
To get to the bottom of why so many frown at the idea of flexible working is key in changing the mindset of those people. So, I ran a survey. I asked 100 people , inclusive of CEOs and staff alike, what flexible working meant to them. The results show something really interesting….. didn’t expect this!

Laura Bentley is an amazing life coach who helps women who want to create a change in life whether thats after having children or coming back after a career break. We discuss growing your inner confidence in all things; maybe you want to ask for a pay rise at work, or maybe you are the CEO to a huge company but cant seem to understand or engage with your staff? I speak to Alice Thompson - a mum & a career minded professional who took her employer to court over discrimination as her flexible working request was turned down with no tangible reasons or grounds of rejection. Alice returned to work after her Maternity leave with no room to balance her life as a mum and her career. Alice now runs her own successful firm but is also working to help other mums in similar situations. While Alice's news hit major headlines with the likes of BBC, LBC, 5LIVE Radio, This Morning, ITV and MORE - what none of these outlets covered was the responsibilities of the employer and what the employee can do to protect themselves. I was shocked to read some of the legal case documents from her tribunal and how her (now) ex-employer and its legal team failed to highlight the most basic HR protocols that could have, and would have, saved both parties from such an excruciating ordeal. Listen to another episode of #TeaAndTalksWithTina to hear key details that the media completely missed. You can also watch the recorded video interview on my Instagram @hr.habitat
We never think these things will happen, but they do happen. But what do you do if you’re an employer and you have an employee who is known to be suicidal? You have so many obligations here from legal, operational and just plain human obligations. Listen to find out what you need to do
This is a WARNING video and an intro video for a very sensitive topic that I’m going to uncover. I get to speak to Tracey who has been on every single major news outlet and major radio shows such as LBC and BBC Live 5 about her workplace experience of discrimination and sexual harassment. Tracey has won the case with a compensation of £183,000 from her employer. The news outlets have all covered the events. I am here to uncover the series of events that led to this and what I’m going to tell you what you can do to prevent this from happening if you are an employer. Or if you’re an employee you will be able to find out what you can do to protect yourself from such discrimination. I cannot wait to get Tracey on to speak to you all about her horrific ordeal. Coming next week
