“The Power Within Her” is all about helping women seek self-empowerment to live a life that makes us excited! The goal is to be intentional about embracing the power of critical thinking and personal growth in order to achieve those dreams on our hearts. We’re going to break free of societal expectations, create new stories that serve us, and have some fun with the process of growing into the type of women who embrace the incredible power within ourselves.
What if your to-do list isn't actually what's overwhelming you? What if it's your systems?!?
As I prepared to head back to school, I found myself completely frozen by everything I felt like I needed to do. Brain dumps and prioritizing have never worked for me, so I decided to try something different. In this episode, I'm sharing the questions that helped me move from anxious and frantic to calm, grounded, and purposeful—and why I think they might help you, too, whether you're heading back to work, starting a new season, or simply feeling overwhelmed by life.
Today, we're up to something a little different! It's chatting at a coffee shop with a friend meets fun advice column vibes in a new style of episode called, "Ask Meggy." Listen in to see what it's all about!
In this episode, I'm recapping our 18-day summer road trip and sharing the biggest lesson I brought home: just because something doesn't go according to plan doesn't mean it wasn't worth it!
We're celebrating my third book, a micro-collection of poetry called, Something Like a Fable, by reflecting on the prior versions of me that got me here! I share a lot of insights and lessons I've learned along the way over the years from writing three books.
If you want to purchase Something Like a Fable, click HERE!
Also, here's a description of the book:
“At the end of the day, this poetry series is my love letter to words.”
Something Like a Fable is a micro-collection of poetry inspired by a daily word puzzle. Throughout the collection, Hurley-Powell creates poems that transform a single word into a story, exploring everything from forgiveness to childhood imagination, from meandering recipes to unrequited love, from ordinary Tuesdays to the courage it takes to tilt your face to the light.
Whimsical, thoughtful, and quietly hopeful, Hurley-Powell reminds readers that words are never just words. They are the sinews of stories that inspire us to wander, wonder, and—perhaps—discover something unexpected along the way.
If you're in the midst of some uncertainty and/or struggling with priorities, you've come to the right place! <3
Have you ever said "yes" to something because it looked good on paper, even though every fiber of your being was screaming "no"?
In this episode, I'm sharing a recent experience that reminded me just how powerful an aligned "no" can be. If 2026 has been nothing like you expected, consider this your reminder that you don't have to force a "yes," cling to a path that no longer fits, or accept something simply because it's in front of you.
Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is say, "No, thank you."
And then trust yourself enough to see what happens next.
After missing the self-imposed release date for my upcoming poetry micro-collection, Something like a Fable, I found myself feeling frustrated, disappointed, and honestly a little hard on myself. But when I paused and dug a little deeper, I realized the situation was far more nuanced than simply “not trying hard enough.”
In this episode, we’re talking about perfectionism, pressure, unrealistic expectations, burnout, lack of capacity, and what it actually means to be a human being trying to create, grow, and pursue goals in real life.
This conversation is an invitation to approach yourself with curiosity instead of condemnation… and to remember that sometimes needing more time, reassessing the plan, or adjusting your expectations doesn’t mean you’ve failed… it just means you’re human!
In the third and final part of 36 Lessons for 36 Years on This Planet, I’m sharing reflections on surrender, sustainable ambition, authenticity, joy, mistakes, healing, aging, and learning how to build a life that feels peaceful, not just productive. This episode is about embracing the seasonality of life, letting go of perfectionism, allowing yourself to evolve, and realizing that growing older is not something to fear, but a gift.
In this birthday-themed episode, I’m sharing lessons 13-24 of the 36 lessons I’ve learned in my 36 years on this planet—covering everything from avoiding to ready is a lie, from worthiness to other people not having to get it, to the amazingness of therapy and loving your body!
Take what you need and leave the rest! <3
In this birthday-themed episode, I’m sharing 12 of the 36 lessons I’ve learned in my 36 years on this planet—covering everything from self-trust and decision-making to fear, failure, boundaries, rest, and outgrowing old versions of yourself.
Take what you need and leave the rest! <3
If you’ve been feeling behind lately… this episode is for you.
Even after doing the work—processing a hard season, giving yourself grace, and making a plan—those sneaky “I’m behind” thoughts can still show up. In this episode, we’re talking about how to navigate them in a way that actually feels supportive, rather than forced.
We’ll walk through how to forgive yourself before jumping to a reframe, give yourself space to grieve the season you didn’t expect, and learn how to catch and reframe those thoughts in a way you can actually believe. We’ll also talk about redefining what progress and success look like—so you can move forward sustainably, without burning yourself out trying to “catch up.”
In this episode, we’re talking about what it actually looks like to begin again after a tough season without throwing yourself back into hustle mode.
If your year hasn’t started the way you hoped, or you’re just coming out of a heavy chapter, this conversation will meet you there. We’re exploring what it means to pursue your goals in a way that feels sustainable, supportive, and aligned with the life you actually want to live.
Together, we unpack the idea of “strolling” after your goals—moving forward with intention, but without pressure—and how to stay connected to what matters without burning yourself out.
If your year hasn’t started the way you hoped, this one’s for you. I’m sharing a candid life update—from unexpected challenges to small moments of joy—and reflecting on what it looks like to accept where you are, release the pressure to “do more,” and trust that this season won’t last forever.
As 2025 comes to a close, I wanted to pause — not to set resolutions or chase goals — but to reflect honestly on the year we actually lived.
In this New Year’s Eve episode, we're talking about the disconnect so many of us feel when we focus only on what didn’t happen and miss everything that did. From vision boards and unmet goals to unexpected wins and meaningful “failures,” this is a cozy, honest conversation about celebrating progress, learning from where we fell short, and holding space for multiple truths at once.
Take what serves you. Leave the rest! <3
Life doesn’t always go according to plan—and that can feel uncomfortable, scary, and even anxiety-inducing. But what if the unexpected isn’t always a setback?
In today’s episode, I share two personal stories about plans getting flipped upside down, and how this didn't lead to the end of the world. It led to some unexpected growth and joy and inspiration.
If you’ve ever felt thrown off by life’s curveballs, this episode will remind you that even in the uncertainty, there can be beauty, growth, and purpose.
Today, we're celebrating Roger's 37th birthday with three things he's taught me about optimism, support, and empathy!
In this episode, we're talking all about approval-seeking—aka: why we do it, how it shows up in our lives, and why it hurts our self-worth.
So many of us are constantly looking for validation from other people to feel okay about ourselves. And I get it, because I’ve been there too—saying yes when I wanted to say no, apologizing for things that didn’t need an apology, or even stressing over something as simple as what nail color to choose because I was worried someone might disapprove.
In this episode, we talk where this approval-seeking really comes from, why it chips away at our self-worth, and what to do about it! Because here’s the thing: approval-seeking isn’t who you are. It’s a habit you learned. Which means you can unlearn it.
Questions:
Where in my life do I notice myself trying to earn approval or validation? (What does approval-seeking look like for me at work… in my family… in my relationships… on social media… in my appearance…)
What situations trigger my need to be liked or accepted?
Whose approval do I crave the most? Why?
How do I feel in my body when I’m seeking approval and when I’ve done what others want me to do?
In this empowering episode, we’re diving deep into one of the most common, sneaky self-worth killers: settling for less than you deserve.
We unpack:

Welcome to the first episode in a brand new multi-part series on self-worth!
In today’s episode, we’re diving into something that so many of us (especially women) struggle with:over-apologizing. Maybe you've said “sorry” for being busy, for setting a boundary, or just for existing—and if you’ve ever caught yourself shrinking to make others more comfortable, this one’s for you.
This episode builds on a self-worth journaling exercise from episode #246 so be sure to check that out if you haven’t yet!
In this episode, I’m sharing all the real-time reflections from completing a 21-day poetry challenge with BookLeaf Publishing—a surprisingly powerful (and affordable!) experience that reminded me just how much small, consistent action can shift everything. From reigniting my creativity after burnout to reframing how I see my writing time as sacred, this challenge became so much more than publishing a book—it became a deep reminder of my worth, my voice, and my identity beyond productivity. Whether you’re a writer, a dreamer, or a woman in need of a reset, this episode will inspire you to start your own 21-day journey—whatever that may look like.
In this raw and empowering episode, I dive deep into a recent therapy breakthrough that made me realize something surprising: even after all my work on boundaries and people-pleasing, there’s still a part of me that questions whether I deserve to protect my time—especially for writing.
This conversation unpacks the difference between knowing what self-worth is and actually believing it. I share why our culture makes self-worth so hard to root in, how high-achieving women are especially vulnerable to tying their value to productivity, and a powerful question that can help anchor you back into your truth.
You’ll also hear the 3 things I deeply value about myself that have nothing to do with being helpful, productive, or perfect—and why identifying your own list could be the most freeing thing you do this week.
In this episode, I share a funny story from my own therapy, which opened the door for me-- and now you-- to think more in depth about boundaries and why they're so hard to set and uphold, especially for good girl people pleasers!
Have you ever looked around at your life and realized… you disappeared somewhere along the way? Me too, girl. In this episode, we’re talking about what it means to come back to yourself—especially after a long season of overgiving, overfunctioning, people-pleasing, or just surviving. Whether you’ve been chasing productivity, hiding behind perfectionism, or pouring from an empty cup, this is your invitation to return to yourself because you deserve it!
Buckle up, girl! Today, we're chatting about navigating a stressful, overwhelming, anxiety-inducing season of life... instead of constantly focusing on all that negativity, we need to challenge ourselves to hold space for our struggle and our hope. You don’t have to fake positivity, but you can choose to let in the light. Even in the middle of chaos, goodness is still there—you just have to be willing to look for it.
Turning 35 is a major milestone filled with powerful realizations! In this episode, we explore the top lessons women often learn by this age, according to ChatGPT! I, of course, chime in and give my 100% human reactions to these lessons, offering interpretation and my two cents!
After a much-needed hiatus, I’m back—and so much has happened. In this episode, I’m catching you up on life lately, including one of the biggest updates: we bought a house! I’m sharing what that process was really like, how it’s felt to balance excitement and overwhelm, and the unexpected life lessons that have come with owning a home. If you’re in a season of transition, growth, or just trying to keep your head above water, this one’s for you.
Today we're chatting all about embracing the season of life we're in, rather than pushing through!
Today's episode is the perfect follow-up to last week's episode! If you're feeling hopeless, listen in-- this episode will remind you that it all works out... someway, somehow!
We're celebrating 4 years of the podcast! This episode is totally off the cuff, in the moment, and super raw and honest, which I hope empowers you to own where you are in your journey. We chat about not needing to be perfect, being lost or confused and going through it, and the immense power of day 1!
I’m super pumped about today’s episode because we’re talking about three of YOUR personal growth questions from an Instagram Q & A I did!
If you were given the opportunity to "skip to the good part" of your life, would you take it? Today, we're reminding ourselves why this is a not-so-good idea! If you're like me, and feeling impatient, this is the episode for you!!!
Today we're chatting all about the New Year's Blues! Listen in if you're struggling with the dark and cold and ice, feel like you have nothing to look forward to, and/or are stuck in the comparison trap! I got you! <3
During this time of year, when things are simultaneously ending and about to begin, it can be so hard to tune into our intuition. The comparison game is real, people pleasing can be rampant, and we can lose track of who we are and what we want. Listen into this essay as a reminder to stay true to your intuition!
Today we're chatting all about some helpful mindsets to adopt when navigating in-between seasons after outgrowing a goal!

If you feel like the sun has set on a goal you're pursuing, but you're scared to quit, this is the perfect episode for you! Today I'm sharing a HUGE decision I made with you that I hope normalizes: (1) that we were never ever meant to stay the same; (2) that it's natural to change your mind; (3) and no one will hate you for outgrowing a goal because of #1 & #2.
I love you, girlfriend! This episode marks the start of a totally new era for me, and I cannot wait for you to listen. <3 Cheers to aligned goals & living lives that excite us!

I've brought on one of my best friends, Kelly Bluth, to talk about an area she's a FIRE expert on: cyclical living! You might already know about this... but, I promise, you haven't heard about cyclical living in the way we talk about it in this episode! We tie cyclical living to mental health and anti-hustle!
Today we're chatting all about Ilona Maher's "Luisa" dance from last week's Dancing with the Stars. As a bigger, broad-shouldered woman myself, I felt SO validated! Let's talk about it.
Today, I sharing another piece from my creative non-fiction essay collection, "Not Too Small." Since it's spooky season, I figured an entertaining essay all about how to navigate fear would be fun! :) I hope you enjoy it!
Today we're chatting all about how there's more than one way to pursue a goal! Sometimes, goals do need structure and planning, while other times, they don't!
WORKSHOP INFO:
I know that you’re just as invested in your growth and well-being as I am, which is why I wanted to invite you to a live workshop that my friend Kelly and I are hosting called, “Breakout of the Cycle of Toxic Hustle.”
Kelly and I decided to host this workshop because we’ve both experienced a boatload of anxiety and exhaustion and just overall burnout because of that unwritten societal expectation for ambitious women, which is to go go go and do do do to get where you want to go.
This I why it's so important to me and Kelly to put the important message out there that it doesn’t actually have to be that way. You can be an ambitious and successful woman without the pressure to constantly go and do and hustle!
At our free, live workshop, “Breakout of the Cycle of Toxic Hustle,” we’re going to talk about what hustle culture it, how to break out of it, and what it can look like moving forward as an ambitious woman without the burnout… and we’re going to wrap up with a super fun, surprise creative activity—that’s not journaling—to help us start to heal and become the next best version of ourselves.
So, if you’re interested in attending, our workshop will be hosted on zoom on October 26th at 7 PM central and 8 PM eastern. If you want to be at the live workshop or to see the recording, please DM me on Instagram at dr.meggymarie… and I’ll add you to the list!

If so, this episode is for YOU, girl! Today we're diving DEEP into HOW to navigate urgency culture! There are so many take aways, so be sure to grab a pen as you listen and take all the notes! :)
Jacy and I are BACK with a completely unplanned and unscripted podcast! Today, Jacy started us off with her recent experience with taking a step back from all that she's been doing to realize she's been struggling because she's not having any fun. So, we wind up chatting all about why this is and what to do about it!
Today is a SPICY episode all about how not knowing can actually be a really beautiful, wonderful thing!
Also, here's all the information on the "Breakout of the Cycle of Toxic Hustle" Workshop, which is FREE & will be held on October 26th 7 PM (cst). If you want to be at the live workshop or to see the recording, please DM me and I’ll add you to the list! (DM me on Instagram: @dr.meggymarie).

How are we 1/2 way through the year?!?? Insane! So, let's do another check-in to make sure that HOW we're pursuing our goals is aligned!
Today we're chatting all about three powerful lessons I relearned about being a beginner at a recent AP Training in KC!
Today, we’re going to tackle the question: what does confidence ACTUALLY look like? And how can we step into it? Because, idk about you, but when I think about confidence and confident women, and what that looks like… I’ve always thought about it in terms of unapologetic boldness and owning a room and being loud, and that's great! But... it doesn't always have to be that way! So, listen in and let's chat about how different confidence can look!
To celebrate 5 years of marriage, I'm sharing with you a memoir-ish piece I wrote about our wedding! At its core, this piece is about believing that things WILL click into place.
From the beginning of the podcast, we've talked about how we've gotta rewrite the stories that don't serve us, right? In today's episode, we do that, but... in a DIFFERENT way that I think is SUPER impactful!
If you follow me on Instagram, you know that an F3 tornado ripped its way through NWA, where I live. I share two lessons that I learned from this experience.
You ask, I deliver! 🎙️
Last week, I put up a poll on my instagram story, asking what you wanted to hear— and overwhelmingly, you wanted to hear all about JOY!
As a fellow ambitious women, I think I know why this is a topic we’re interested in right now—
✨ it’s so easy to get caught up in the hustle & grind and daily “to do’s”
✨ we’re always pushing the needle forward on goals, and living our busy lives, which leaves little time for anything extra
✨ we’re craving some fulfillment outside our goals
At the end of the day, we gotta make time for non-goal related joy because— as my friend @emilyandthekindmind says— “we’re human beings, not human doings!”
If you're an anxiety-prone person like me, doubt can REALLY wreak havoc on our self-confidence! So, how can we navigate those doubt spirals? Listen in for some tactical tips!
Today, I'm sharing with you an essay from my creative non-fiction essay collection! It's called, "Tall," and it's all about learning to love who & how we are!
Today, Dr. CJ and I are talking about where she's at in the book writing process! We get into all things structure, unexpected content, making space on the calendar to make the goal a reality, and navigating distractions that take away from our writing!
Our priorities, goals, dreams, and relationships naturally shift and change, evolve and devolve, begin and end and pivot. It’s natural. And yet, we sometimes resist this because change is hard, even if it's what we want or even if it's good for us. Listen in for a pep talk on allowing yourself to step into a new era!
Today we're chatting all about how, like Lori Harder says, no one will save you but yourself! So, take the initiative and be your own advocate! You got this! :)
If things aren't going your way right now, give this episode a listen! It'll make you feel seen and loved and heard and supported! <3

Taking action after burnout can be so scary! Because we don't want to burn out again, right? So, listen in to hear about the two ways I'm taking action post-burnout so that I don't burnout again!
You ask, I deliver! Today, we're diving into two things I did during my season of surrender that helped me heal from burnout! Again, they're super unconventional, so buckle up! They're definitely not one size fits all, so take it with a grain of salt!
Happy New Year, girl! Today, we're chatting all about the pros & cons of fast action! At the end of the day, we gotta make sure that we're pursuing our goals in a way that is empowering and sustainable!
Let's pick a cluster of words for 2024 to set the tone for an awesome year!

Society, as we talk about A LOT on this podcast, has a lot of cookie-cutter rules and expectations that aren't always necessarily aligned with what we, as individual people, want for ourselves and our lives. That said, today's episode is inspired from an activity in Dr. Aziz's book, "Not Nice: Stop People Pleasing, Staying Silent, & Feeling Guilty... and Start Speaking Up, Saying No, Asking Boldly, and Unapologetically Being Yourself." Having done the activity myself, I can promise you it's POWERFUL because it helps us cut through all the external "shoulds" from society. When we have our own individual, "Bill of Rights," we have a roadmap on what we value and how we want to live our lives. <3

Today's episode was inspired by one of my favorite accounts on TikTok! The creator's name is, @aili.likes.adventure, and I love following her because she's unbelievably inspiring, has great energy, and shows women that only they can give themselves PERMISSION to be unapologetically themselves! Aili has inspired me to share a couple of stories where I've recently been giving myself permission, which has led to more fulfillment and alignment in my life. Overall, the purpose of this episode is to create a PERMISSION CHAIN--that is, Aili gives herself permission, which then inspired me to give myself permission, and I hope that I can inspire you to give yourself permission, and then you can give another woman the fire she needs to give herself permission, etc. At the end of the day, the only person who can give us permission to do and be anything in life is ourselves, BUT... sometimes, it can be so helpful to see other women giving themselves permission OUT LOUD! It normalizes that we can do the same in our own individual ways! <3
Yesterday was The Power Within Her Podcast's TWO year anniversary! So, to celebrate, we're talking all about the immense power of vulnerability & owning our stories. To do so, I share a story that I have told, maybe, two other people... why would I do that? As Lori Harder says, "our environment is our willpower," which means that if we're constantly surrounded by apathy and negativity, eventually we'll take on those qualities. Of course, as ambitious women, we're going to still try to be the best we can be, despite the crappy environment around us, which is awesome... but, let's also be real about it: that takes a lot of energy! At the end of the day, we deserve so much more than that. If you're in a situation where you're questioning your environment, listen in for an epic pep talk that could help you get unstuck! This conversation is full of FANTASTIC mindset & tactical advice that you can apply to whatever transition you're making or even craving to make. Seriously, I'm not just saying that, either. We get into all sorts of important topics on or related to people pleasing, such as the ability to say "no," over-responsibility, unintentional roles we play that hold us back, the different ways that people pleasing manifests, and where our people pleasing tendencies come from and we why do it. We also dive into talking about Natalie's incredible book, The Joy of Saying No, which is on pre-order right now! Today's episode is all about LETTING GO of the things that do not serve us anymore... yes, even if they make sense on paper, even if they make us comfortable, even if it's scary. Letting go when something, no matter what it is, when it's not aligned is such an incredibly freeing experience. In this episode I share something HUGE that I just recently let go of because it felt like the aligned thing for me/my family to do. At the end of the day, letting go IS hard, but... it's up to us to choose the kind of hard we want in life. Rooting for you, always! <3
Today's interview is with women's empowerment coach, Kaitlin Anthony, who is the creator of the BEAM Life: Be Everything and More! I met Kaitlin through podcasting and got to speak with her at EmpowerHER Live on the Good to Great panel, and have just thought the world of her and her message, so I had to bring her onto the podcast! If you want to connect with Kaitlin, you can find her on instagram: @thebeamlife

Today's episode is a really special one. My friends, Dr. Christine Jehu and Meredith Coviello, and I take you behind the scenes of EmpowerHER Live, a women's personal growth conference/event, we went to in October of 2022. We dive into our intentions going into the event, how we were impacted during the event, and what led up to Christine inviting Meredith and I to try the externalizing the problem exercise I talked about in last week's episode. Together, Christine and Meredith and I debrief and process in more depth how this exercise truly helped us to CRACK WIDE OPEN in the best way possible. For both Meredith and I, this exercise and the new tools we learned from it is what'll empower us to step into the next version of ourselves. At its core, this conversation is about the incredible, beyond words trust and connection that can transpire within female friendships. <3

If you struggle with a nasty inner critic, you're going to love & honestly need today's episode. When I was at EmpowerHER Live, one of my friends led me through an INCREDIBLE externalizing the problem exercise that's helped me to separate myself from my inner critic and to be bale to manage it more. This has been LIFE-CHANGING! As ambitious women, we all have that voice in our heads that's trying to stop us and keep us small, and this is the exercise that can help us to tactically manage it! Christine's episode
Today's episode is all about abandoning our inclination as humans to have our ish together! Instead of pretending like we're something we're not, or faking it until we make it, let's just own our fear and show each other that it's natural to be scared and excited all at the same time. Rooting for you, always!
It's Okay if it Scares the Sh*t of You! DO IT ANYWAY!
In today's Her Story episode, Dr. Christine Jehu is back on the podcast to share her experience with doing 29029 Everesting, which is a hiking endurance challenge where you climb the elevation equivalent of Mount Everest. Going into the challenge, Christine had her sights set on getting the red bib & hat, which indicates that you finished all 13 climbs (with over 2,000 feet of elevation each climb) in 36 hours. Even though she felt mentally & physically ready for the challenge, nothing went according to plan or how she envisioned it.
As ambitious women, this is such a difficult headspace and situation to navigate; it's so easy to make it mean that we suck or that we're not enough. Sure, Christine didn't achieve all 13 ascents of the challenge, but... she did do 10 AND even more importantly, she gained so much MORE than she ever could've imagined in the attempt. The entire experience was 100% the opposite of a failure for her because she went to the mountain/into the challenge feeling caged and left feeling freer than she has in 8 years.
This is such a beautiful conversation that reminds all of us to embrace the lessons of the experience even if it doesn't go according to plan because it might not be what you want, but it's absolutely what you need.
Today's guest, who is rounding out our 3 part interview series on stress & overwhelm, is Megan Eddinger! She's a podcaster, freelancer, mama, and wife who is here to chat with us about those BUSY seasons that can result in us feeling a lotta stress, overwhelm, and anxiety. In this interview, we talk about juggling all the things and wearing many hats, how to proactively and triage those stressful moments, prioritizing, and sneaky ways that we can get stressed out! Megan brings so much perspective, insight, and tactical ways we can manage our stress and overwhelm, so you're going to LOVE this interview if you're in that season where it's aligned but a lot!
Also, Megan is passionate about helping moms embrace the chaos & find themselves in the process, so if you're a mom, go connect with Megan on Instagram at: @thenobsmama. She has some free resources in the link of her bio. So, head on over and say hi!

Today's episode is the second of three interviews on our Interview Series on Stress & Overwhelm! Today's guest, Lina Latini, is a physical therapist, podcaster, entrepreneur, wife, & soon to be mama. She's BACK on the podcast to talk about all things mindfulness & meditation when it comes to managing overwhelm and stress, especially when we're in a season when it's super ALIGNED and what we absolutely want to be doing, but... at the same time, it's A LOT. When we're in that space, it can feel extremely isolating because we battle feelings of guilt and frustration and even slip into telling ourselves stories that do not serve us, such as what we "should" be feeling or doing. This is where MINDFULNESS & MEDITATION can be really impactful and empowering and grounding. So, listen in for all of Lina's incredible information/research and experience on/with this topic and season of life! <3

Welcome to our first ever interview SERIES on the podcast! This series was inspired by our-- yours & mine--struggles right now in real time when it comes to chasing our individual dreams. In the DMs of my @dr.meggymarie instagram, I've been having so many conversations with women-- maybe you-- who are in the same place I am. That is, as amazing as it is, and as grateful as we are, to be chasing our dreams: let's be real: it's A LOT! On the one hand, we're pumped because this dream we're chasing is beautifully aligned, but on the other hand, it can also be super stressful and overwhelming. Basically, we're feeling all the feels!
So, I thought, "What better way to navigate this season than bring on some epic guests to the podcast who can help us navigate these strange and tumultuous waters!"
Today's guest who will kick off our Interview Series on Overwhelm & Stress is Sonya MacCrimmon. She's a life coach & board certified behavior analyst, who is passionate about education and the science behind mindset and behavior. She also has a coaching practice where she guides ambitious women to break free from their negative thought patterns, redefine how they WANT to live their life their OWN way so that they can realign their current habits towards their deepest desires and values.
In this episode, we chat about so many incredible things, such as establishing that mind-body connection, what to do when it's out of synch, coping strategies, managing all the things, spiraling thoughts, and so much more!
Today, we’re talking about being SCARED out of your freaking mind, but doing it—whatever it is—anyway! Because I think of us like besties on this podcast, I wanted share with you something that I get to do in 3 weeks-ish time from the release date of this episode, which I am so excited for WHILE being scared to death. Let's normalize being scared AND excited all in the same breath! Even though your mind might be telling you to run or not do the thing, let's remember: life is way too short and precious for shoula, woulda, couldas and unfulfilled dreams and untapped potential. If you wanna know what the HUGE thing I'm doing is, you gotta listen into this episode! After you listen, DM me on instagram (@dr.meggymarie) & let me know what you think!

I’m so excited that you’re here today because we are CELEBRATING! If you’ve been a long-time listener of the podcast, you know that one of my biggest goals and dreams in the entire world is to start a publishing house. And I’m so pumped to be able to tell you that... we did it. My friend & business partner, Kristina, and I successfully launched Power Within Her Publishing!!! There's a part of me that STILL cannot believe it, but it's true: I founded & co-own a publishing house!!!! To celebrate, I wanted to really take a second here with you and reflect on the path that led me here to this very moment. Because I think it's so cool to think about the path that got us to the other side of the big goal—no matter what that big goal is— because it’s such a testimony of what’s possible when you START! Thank you for being here with me! <3

Today, we're extending the conversation about sneaky energy wasters by diving into how grudges & drama can put us into a negative headspace, lower our vibrations, and get in the way of living a life that makes us dancing-in-the-grocery-store-aisles-kind-of-happy! First, we identify how grudges & drama negatively impact us, and then, we dive into how to navigate them in ways that are empowering. Never ever forget that your time and energy is precious. Intro to Writing Your Non-Fiction Book Course
Today's episode was inspired by a speaking gig I had the other day. Long story short, the women I was speaking to in a social media mastermind were struggling with the execution of their ideas-- in other words, they had ideas but they struggled to post them. That said, we talked about how failing to execute is 100% a mindset issue. Even though I was talking about social media with these women, I think a lot of the same stuff applies to writing a book. When it comes to an idea we have for a book, we accidentally sometimes demand perfection from from those ideas without even knowing it. Nothing stops-- and, honestly, kills-- a book more than perfection. So, listen in for a killer mindset shift to help you manage perfectionism as you write your book!
Check out our Introduction to Writing Non-Fiction course! If you want a DETAILED breakdown of the course, DM me on Instagram: @dr.meggymarie.
Also, Power Within Her Publishing is officially up and running! At PWH Publishing, our mission is to amplify women's voices because our experiences, ideas, and stories MATTER!

Today's episode is inspired by a woman in my FREE writing community called, Writer's Corner! If you're listening to this episode in real time, in the month of August 2022, I'm hosting weekly working sessions where we write for an hour and then whoever joins live gets to ask me whatever writing questions they have at the end. As we chatted after writing, we talked about how it can be difficult to go from that idea generation phase of the writing process into the taking action phase of actually writing our manuscripts. Action, itself, is hard to take sometimes, but... because you were gifted this vision for the book, the universe says, "hey, guess what, girlfriend! You've also got the ability to figure it out!" So, listen in for 3 tactical ways you can TAKE ACTION on your manuscript! You've got this!
ALSO, I forgot to mention in the episode that today (8/12/2022), my business partner & I are going live on Instagram on the @pwhpublishing instagram. Head over there at 12 PM cst & catch our huge announcement of the partnership & all that's to come!

Ashleigh Alm-- a friend & fellow podcaster-- is BACK on the podcast to share her incredible story of MOVING 1,800 miles across the country by HERSELF! Even though it was 110% aligned for her to move from Illinois to Arizona, it was still the most difficult decision she had to make because the right path isn't always the easiest path. After Ashleigh tells her story, we chat about overcoming the anxiety of doing things alone, wanting different things than our families, friends, and significant others, forging our own paths, feeling the highs and lows of a journey, and asking for support. Today's episode is a super fun & flowy conversation with my friend and fellow podcaster, Savannah, about something brilliant she said-- "a day late, right on time"-- during a conversation we had in June! This phrase sounds wrong, but it's seriously so spot on because it reminds us as ambitious women that timelines are arbitrary, it's empowering to do things on your own terms, and choosing the slower, more scenic route can sometimes be the best decision ever. At the end of the day, we can't let societal expectations run our lives.

In today's episode, we're chatting about a completely unexpected life lesson that I learned from my 9 month old puppy, Banner, while visiting my parents this past weekend! As an ambitious woman yourself, I know that you'll connect to it. Because progress toward our goals and dreams and a life that's aligned and lights us up truly is the culmination of thousands of baby steps. Let's be more like Banner by embracing the process!
Today we're celebrating 100 episodes!!! So, we're chatting all about embracing the season of planting seeds so that we can enjoy the luscious garden later on down the road. Those daily endeavors-- aka: seeds-- aren't always fun or sexy, but damn-- they're WORTH IT! Listen in for two ways that I'm planting seeds in my current season.
Today we're talking about feeling UNQUALIFIED! We all know that it's not fun to feel unqualified, but... it also doesn't have to be a bad thing, either. If we reframe feeling or even being unqualified as an invitation to learn the skills or gain the experience that we need to get that job, the promotion, the book deal, the brand partnership, or whatever else it is that we want, amazing things can happen! Of course feeling unqualified sucks, but... the thing about it is that it's a temporary state of being. Just because you're unqualified today doesn't mean that you'll be unqualified forever. Listen in for two tactical tips that are helping me to navigate feeling & being unqualified in real time! Because, as always, we're in this together!

The number one thing women are saying to me right now is, "I KNOW that I want to write a book, but IDK if it's the right time or not?" If that's you, girlfriend-- I get it! Life is a wild rollercoaster, and sometimes we have the bandwidth to make writing a priority, but other times, we don't. In our society, we don't talk enough about how sometimes our desire to do something just isn't in line with the season we're in, whereas other times it is in line with the season we're in, but we hold ourselves back. Either way, it's tough. So, listen into this episode to gain CLARITY on whether or not it truly is the season you could be writing a book. Rest assured that even if it appears that it's not the season to write, there are still really manageable steps you can take to set yourself up for the season where you will be writing your book. Rooting for you, always!

Today's guest is Kristina Ellis-- a lawyer, author, ADHD advocate and educator, and the host of the NBD Podcast-- who is here to share her story about being diagnosed with ADHD! For many years, Kristina had no idea she even had ADHD, which made fitting into predetermined systems at school and work difficult to adopt. Many of her peers thought she was "weird" for having to do things like studying or working a little bit differently. After she got her diagnosis, a lot of Kristina's prior and current habits and actions started to make more sense. Then, she used that information to really step into her power by embracing who she is rather than who others or the world wanted her to be. She's even created a fantastic resource-- "The Daily Check-In: A Routine Builder for the ADHD Mind"-- to empower people to follow what they need on a daily basis according to their energy levels rather than what they feel like they 'should' or 'have to' do. Kristina is proof that embracing our differences is beautiful. <3 (P.S: Make sure to enter the giveaway on my instagram-- @dr.meggymarie-- where you can have a chance to win The Daily Check-In!)

Today's episode is inspired by a recent writing coaching client of mine. She asked me, "how do you make writing at 5 AM work for you?!" So, I had to do an episode on it! Because here's the thing: like everything in life-- writing included-- it's not a one-size-fits-all. Just because one person writes at 5 AM at her desk in the pristine quiet doesn't mean that you have to, too! If you find writing at 11:00 PM with rocking music and sitting on the floor way more empowering, do that! We're all unique individuals-- plus, when & where we write will be totally different depending on what season of life we're in!

We also chat about Lindsay's writing process-- the highs and lows-- as well as a couple of AMAZING chapters from Vixen that I know will resonate with you. What's up, friend?! Today is a super fast episode that I recorded in real time as my husband, Roger, and I prepared to go on a hiking trip to Colorado. We were holding ourselves to such high expectations-- especially in regard to the monstrous to do lists we "had to" accomplish before the trip-- which made us miserable & super stressed out! Oftentimes, we put so much unnecessary pressure and stress onto ourselves when it really doesn't have to be that way. There is so much power in adjusting our expectations, especially in real time!

Instead of talking about consistency, habit forming, & pushing through, I share TWO tactical, but gentler ways to motivate ourselves to work on our books. Today's episode is a SUPER vulnerable conversation about JEALOUSY! Because, let's be real, as ambitious women, sometimes, comparison can get the best of us. We look at another woman and think, "Dangggg! I wish I had what she has! I'm green with jealousy," right? I know I've thought that-- in fact, I've thought that recently. And it's really, really hard for me to admit that, especially because I love to clap & cheer for other women as they chase their dreams. Even though jealousy isn't a fun thing to feel, society often makes us feel BAD about that, as though jealousy is something to be shameful for or to feel guilty about, but honestly-- it's not. Or, at least, it doesn't have to be because we're HUMAN. It happens. So, the BIG QUESTION becomes: how can we reframe jealousy to work FOR us rather than against us?! Listen in for that juicy reframe, friend! I know that you're gunna LOVE it!

Today we're chatting all about Self-Gaslighting & Intuition, which is such an important topic for ambitious women like us! In our society, we're trained to accept being "good" & even "fine" with our lives, jobs, careers, relationships, etc. to the point where we start to tell ourselves that we're CRAZY or DRAMATIC for wanting more. All of that is BS, right? Because we only get one life & we deserve to live it up to the fullest. So, let's ask ourselves: what would happen if we STOPPED denying our intuition? Just because our life is great on paper doesn't mean we're wrong to desire even more or something else! There's an inner Knowing that we can ignore for only so long before it starts to ROAR! It's time to STOP ignoring it, girlfriend. Don’t settle. Life is way too damn short & precious for that.

It takes absolutely no effort to WORRY, right?! We can easily slip into those thought patterns & plan for the worst case scenario-- i.e.: I'm gunna fail, I'll waste my time/money, I won't get any customers, etc. But, if we're always planning for the worst, we're robbing ourselves of JOY. So, that's why we've got to challenge ourselves to plan for the BEST-- that is, how good could this thing we're doing possibly get?! Today's topic is all about figuring out what we want to do, goal-wise! If you follow me on Instagram, you knew this was coming because I asked you what you wanted to hear & this won by a mile! :) To key up the topic, we dive into needs vs wants & how our society often makes us feel super guilty for wants. While there are definitely certain seasons of life when wants take the back-burner, wants & wanting is not inherently a bad thing-- in fact, it's one of the things that make us human! Then, we dive deep into some really powerful questions that can help us determine what it is what we want to spend our precious time pursuing. We only get ONE shot on this planet, so let's not wait for the perfect day or get to the end and be filled with regret, k?! :) Rooting for you always!

Journal Prompts:
What's holding you back? In other words, what often stops you from going after what you want?
What do you love? What lights you up? What are your strengths? What are you good at?
What do you value? What kind of impact do you want to make? What kind of a legacy or movement do you want to make?
When you strip away all the shoulds, inner critic, people pleasing, judgment, doubts, etc.-- what's there? What's the beating heart of what you want to do more than anything?
Reflection, like we talked about last week, is a phenomenal self-empowerment tool! Last week, we talked about 3 specific reflection questions we can use to celebrate a goal, milestone, or accomplishment. Now, this week we're diving into ANOTHER super cool & empowering way that we can use reflection in that post-goal or accomplishment state, which is to get really, really clear on how we can pursue a goal even BETTER next time! As ambitious women, we know that getting intentional about how we show up for our goals will create more fulfillment & joy throughout the process, which is crucial to building a life that we're excited about. No goal is worth pursuing if it makes us miserable, so we've got to flex those critical thinking & reflection muscles by asking ourselves what's working & what's not?! As Maya Angelou, my favorite poet in the whole word, says: "Do the best you can until you know better. Once you know better, do better."

A part of the proceeds funnels directly into a scholarship fun for women in their senior year of high school to apply to college. You're not just empowering yourself; you're empowering another woman out there too. And how cool is that?!?!
Last week's episode here.
Journaling Questions:
What's working?! In other words, what felt supportive for me throughout the process? What do I want to keep doing from last time? What habits & beliefs did I have that served me?
What's not working? Essentially, what didn't feel supportive for me throughout the process? What do I want to not do moving forward? What habits & beliefs don't serve me?
Today's episode is all about CELEBRATING!!! Whether it's the mini-steps on a journey, any sort of milestone, or even the competition of an entire goal, we gotta pause & CELEBRATE our faces off! The thing you're celebrating-- starting anything, a certain # of downloads, the two pink strips on a pregnancy test, the resignation letter, the promotion, making the doctor's appointment, etc.-- is HUGE & deserves to be reveled in because you DID it! So, let's link arms and pause in order to reflect for a moment before jumping into the next thing, step, or phase. If we don't, we risk the opportunity to pump ourselves up for whatever is coming next, but also... if we don't reflect, we lose out on so much growth and lessons and feeling proud. Listen in for 3 questions I'm asking myself right now in real time to celebrate the release of my first book, "The Power Within Her: Guide to Journaling."
If you want to purchase the book, here's what you can do:

Journaling Questions:
Today's guest is Kyesha Jennings who is a friend from graduate school! She's an absolutely brilliant Hip-Hop scholar, freelance journalist, content director of the North Carolina Arts Council, & she's a new mom. As a multi-passionate creative, who is a storyteller at heart no matter what she's doing, Kyesha transitioned out of academia/being a professor and into a whole new workspace because she wanted something fresh! One of my favorite parts of Kyesha's story is that she was presented with an amazing opportunity that she knew she couldn't pass up for many reasons. She's proof that it's possible to pivot, your skills do transfer, you can figure it out as you go, and you don't have to be defined by just one passion or role.

All aboard the tough love train, baby! Today's episode is a fiery pep talk style episode that's all about AVOIDING! Because let's be real: sometimes when it comes to our goals, applying for a new job, or even going to the doctor or dentist, we tend to avoid it because it's uncomfy or scary. Before we know it, we let "what if's" & hypothetical scenarios/stories that don't serve us run the show! Then, we have to suffer the consequences, such as someone else starting that business venture we wanted to, somebody else might get that awesome job, or you need a root canal instead of just a filling. So, cheers to being the type of women who stop avoiding & start taking things head on!

Today is a very, very special interview with my youngest brother, Keeghan, who was diagnosed with cancer in summer of 2021. He reached out to me a few weeks ago to say that he wanted to start talking more about his experience with cancer & how it's changed him for the better. In our conversation, we tackle all the tough & important questions, such as how to navigate such a tough curveball after you've been crushing life, being goal-driven but having to pause goals, new outlooks on life, mindset, & so much more. At the end of the interview, Keeghan shares an incredible piece of advice for life that gave me chills-- so, be sure to listen in & then tag us with your thoughts: @keeghanhurley & @dr.meggymarie

Today, we're chatting all about being SUPERRRRRR frustrated & stuck! When we're feeling THAT intense level of frustration and stuck-ness, we sometimes go into a fixed & scarcity mindset, which winds up making us dwell into that poor me/victim mindset place, as well as telling ourselves a whole host of other stories that do not serve us. Even though we're in the thick of feeling like it's never ever gunna happen, our higher self KNOWS it's going to work out because she has the growth & abundant mindset that'll set us free. So, listen in for 3 tangible tips you can use to reconnect to your higher self & get unstuck/un-frustrated. It might not feel like it right now, but you CAN do it! Rooting for you, always! :) <3

31: How my friend, Madison, got herself UNSTUCK!
46: Living in Alignment-Is it time to QUIT or PUSH?!
76: Take Action BEFORE You're "Ready" & Gain So Much Clarity!
Our society would have us believe that we can't take action before we're ready-- that is, you gotta have all the "i's" dotted & the "t's" crossed before you can move forward. But... does it HAVE TO be that way? Of course, it doesn't! Oftentimes, we use "not feeling ready" as an excuse, which unintentionally keeps us stuck. The truth is taking action before we're ready might feel super uncomfortable, but... it can provide us with so much CLARITY! Listen in to hear a real-time story about how I gained clarity on how to write the back of my book description by taking action before I was fully "ready."

Interview about my book on Anchor Within.
My friend, Meredith, is back on the podcast to share her story about loss, grief, and healing. As you know, The Power Within Her only releases 1 episode a week on Tuesdays, but I just had to bring you this episode today because it's THAT important. We need to have more raw & real conversations about the complexity of grief and healing. Throughout this incredible conversation, we chat about not 'shoulding' ourselves when grieving/healing, navigating others' opinions/expectations/grief, the complexity of human beings, celebrating how a person lived rather than how they died, dating after loss, & so much more. Even if you're not currently grieving or healing, loss is a part of life & we're all going to navigate it at some point. So, listen in for Meredith's incredible story that she wanted to share & details about her Guide to Healing Program. Thanks for being here, friend! Love ya :) <3

In the meantime, you can check out this BONUS episode of the podcast that goes into detail about the book AND you can check out this interview I did on Anchor Within, where Lina & I get into all the juicy backend details of the book!
When we're doing something we've never done before, we can sometimes go straight into STRESSED AF mode, right?! But... when we go straight there, we do ourselves a disservice because we're missing THE MOMENT! Think about it: we're navigating a problem that a previous version of us was merely dreaming about, and now, we're IN it!!! How freaking cool is that?! So... friend to friend, we're allowed to feel our feelings, but let's not forget to take a moment to soak up how amazing it is that we're navigating this new problem. Let's feel PROUD and be EXCITED and refuse to miss a second of THE MOMENT!
P.S: I'm ALMOST done with my book! Details coming soon.

You asked, I deliver! :) Today's episode is a much asked for pep talk style episode about CONFIDENCE! The crazy thing about confidence is that we have to choose to build it by TAKING ACTION! There's no way around it for any of us. Even if we're scared, don't feel ready, aren't qualified, etc., the thing is that we won't feel that way forever. Because a natural byproduct of taking action is confidence because we're gaining experience & getting better as we go. I get it, friend-- it's scary to put ourselves out there, but... the version of us 6 months from now who oozes confidence will be grateful we started scared!
Today's epic guest is Bria Wannamaker, a therapist, personal trainer, speaker & podcaster, a multi-passionate woman who works to help other women find the motivation and direction toward going after what makes them happy, and to start by healing their relationships with fitness, food, and body image. Today's episode is an elevator pep talk style episode all about a simple & powerful message, which is DON'T WAIT! Of course, there's a time/place for delayed gratification, but... our society doesn't normalize taking action in imperfect situations! You're going to LOVE today's guest & conversation! Meredith is a life coach, podcaster, Gilmore girls fan, and former English teacher. She's deeply passionate about helping women realize their greatness by refusing to conform to society's expectations so that they can find their freedom! In this interview, we talk about how life is actually happening FOR you, turning pain into power, and how incredible it is when women support each other.
Today's episode is a super juicy & fast pep talk about how QUALITY is actually way more important than SPEED! Because maybe you're in a season right now where you're really pushing toward a goal, but you're crossing the line into rushing, which robs you of being present, joy, & fulfillment in the long haul. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter how long it takes you to get there just as long as you get there! Don't rob yourself of that moment when you'll beam with pride when you're done by rushing now.
Katie Rozanas, an incredibly talented actress & artist from Minnesota, shares her story with us today about finding the gifts within a massive curveball! Even though she couldn’t act during a large portion of the pandemic, Katie found other ways to express herself, which led her to falling in love with abstract art. Through painting, she’s learned the value of having a playful mindset, trial and error, not getting down on yourself, processing emotions and experiences through art, and more. If you want to commission a painting from Katie, you can find her: @krae.abstract.art
Do you ever feel like you're on the right path, but you're still not 100% sure if you're actually making impact? Or, do you ever wonder if all your hard work & effort is wroth it? If that's you, I'm right there with you, girlfriend! Because as human beings, we crave that sense of concrete proof that it's working. Of course, there's never a guarantee, but... I swear, the universe will send us a SIGN, especially when we need it, you know? So, keep going. You've got this! (Connect on Insta: @dr.meggymarie).

In this episode, we chat about how we all have 24 hours in a day & if we're wishing for more time, we need to: one, think critically about how we're using our time; and two, figure out if we can make some small sacrifices in this season to reallocate our time. Time is precious, so let's not waste it! (Hop onto the email list for motivational messages, journal prompts, & an exclusive peak at the Guide to Journaling).

Once you look at the fixed events on your schedule, look at what is left, and ask yourself: what time remains in my schedule?

In today's pep talk style episode, we chat about how we sometimes feel super frustrated because it seems like we've taken 10 giant steps backwards! Even though we know the path to get where we want to go isn't a linear line, but a crazy squiggly mess, we tell ourselves non-serving stories when it's tough & we're down. So, come with me & let's ground ourselves with two intentions that'll help us to KEEP GOING! Because, girl, you've so got this!

As your friend, I gotta ask: when was the last time you checked-in with yourself & determined whether or not you're HAVING FUN on your path to achieve your dreams?! As ambitious women, we sometimes get so caught up in "the plan" or the "to do's," that we accidentally suck the fun out of the thing we LOVE doing. So, pause with me & dive into a series of questions we can ask ourselves to help us remember WHY we love coaching, writing, or business, etc. & what we can do to make the process MORE FUN! Because our dreams shouldn't make us miserable.
Journal Prompt:
Today's interview with Dr. Emily Westergard MD, a former high school swim teammate of mine, is sheer fire! Emily is a wealth of knowledge & power when it comes to empowering yourself as a woman in STEM, navigating cancer & chemo, getting over fear of the doctor, and what it takes to be an excellent physician. We also talk about feeling behind, imposter syndrome, & owning your own path in life. You'll walk away from this interview feeling informed & empowered! You can contact email at ecwestergard@gmail.com.
Today's episode is a fiery and slightly squirrely chat about how IMPOSTER SYNDROME & PERFECTION can take us out when we're nearing the finish line for our goals! Even though we so badly want to launch the book, the podcast, or the business, OR we want to start a family, take the promotion, or move across the country, fear and doubt can seep in to derail us. Listen in for a light a fire under your butt pep talk, tips & tricks, and an invitation to CALL YOUR SHOT, babe! (Stay tuned for episode 50 for a super fun announcement!)

Today, we’re chatting all about the power & potential within the human mind. Because I think that all of us are so much more capable & resilient that we give ourselves credit for, especially when we look at the actual science behind the power of our minds. Every single time we tell ourselves that we can’t, we’re going to fail, we’re fat or stupid or incapable, we’re training ourselves to feel like crap & to not believe in ourselves. We’re literally conditioning our brains to bet against us. And as women who want to move mountains, we've got to stop doing that to ourselves!
See Zimmerman's article here.
Today, we're chatting with Rebecca Saltzman, who is an incredible teacher, podcaster, and doctoral student! We get into all the important topics, such as navigating changing seasons, establishing new routines, pouring into yourself, and getting past those scared feelings when it comes to speaking up for yourself, in class, or in a business meeting. (This episode is Part 1 of 2).
Check out this episode to learn about Abby's unique morning routines & Chrysty's podcast for mama's.
This is Part 2 of an awesome conversation with Rebecca Saltzman, who is an incredible teacher, podcaster, and doctoral student. In Part 2, we get into prioritizing ourselves, attitude and energy, and how to balance all of the things!
Today's episode is extra raw & real because we're talking all about being in a season where you're totally crushing it, and then, suddenly, you're in a really tough season. While I don't have all the answers, I do share 5 ways that I'm navigating a really difficult & unexpected tough season. At the end of the day, we have to pour into ourselves even in a tough season so that we can keep showing up for those who need us in difficult times.
Check out @LissaLiStudio on instagram.
As ambitious women, we tend to take on a lot personally & professionally because we're driven humans! However, just because we technically can take on a lot doesn't necessarily mean we should. In this episode, I share a situation I'm navigating where I said I'd teach an extra class, but then realized I couldn't actually handle that in the season I'm in, so I had to back out. At the end of the day, living in alignment is so much more fulfilling & empowering.
Journal Prompt Questions: Ask yourself, is it worth it? Is it worth it to take on this extra work? If I don’t, what are the consequences? If I do, what are the consequences?
Today, we're chatting with Savannah Cohn, the host of The Lily Pad Network podcast, who is a ninja at thinking for herself & following her intuition! We touch so many important topics, and wander off on some fascinating tangents, but with everything we chat about, it all funnels back to thinking critically in order to live in beautifully and gloriously in ALIGNMENT & being FULFILLED! At the end of the day, thinking for yourself is a massively empowering tool that helps you get where you want to go!

Today's episode is a FOLLOW-UP interview with my friend, Madison, about FEELING & GETTING UNSTUCK! We dive into her mindset, how she had to work on herself, and navigating shame & feelings of worthiness to get herself unstuck! At the end of the day, Madison is PROOF OF CONCEPT that asking yourself— how much better could life get if we listened to what ‘stuck’ was telling us and made an adjustment?— is just really, really powerful & truly life-changing.
Here's the original episode about feeling stuck.
Today's episode is inspired by Simone Biles, an indisputably & powerhouse American gymnast, who showed the world at the Tokyo Olympics that our self-worth is NOT tied to external factors like accomplishments, followers, dollars made, etc. To define our sense of self-worth, we can ask ourselves two powerful questions, such as: 1. Who are you as a person? & 2. What do you value? At the end of the day, we can't get where we want to go, or make the impact we want to make, if we don't define ourself worth internally.
ALSO, exciting news! I have a free email list where I send out journal prompts twice a month. The coolest thing about these prompts is that they’re tailor-made for ambitious women. Basically, they’re killer prompts that help us to get more self-aware AND take all the guess work out of journaling. Because maybe, you’re someone who wants to journal, but you don’t know where to start. Or, maybe, you love the idea of journaling, but you don’t know what to write. I'm here to help!

Comparison can sometimes make us feel like we're NOT GOOD ENOUGH in so many facets of our lives! When we look at another woman, we wind up thinking that we're not a good enough mom or writer or podcaster or athlete, etc. HOWEVER, you & I have the power within ourselves to THINK AGAINST THE GRAIN, so let's abandon comparison & focus on CONTRAST! In other words, we're all gloriously UNIQUE, so it makes no sense to compare ourselves! You're good enough, girl!
Check out Episode 10, which is also about comparison.
When we have a HUGE task or goal to accomplish-- training for a marathon, writing a book, cleaning the house-- we often get really OVERWHELMED! And the reason we go straight to overwhelm is because we get obsessed with the whole picture, rather than looking at the parts that need to be accomplished to get there. Listen in for two POWERFUL questions I ask myself to stop overwhelm in its tracks!
Today, we're chatting with Sam Palmer, who is the CEO of ELLevate, a small business that sells physical reminders-- like jewelry-- that reminds you of your goals. When you purchase from Sam's company, you get an awesome & empowering physical reminder, but you ALSO contribute to a scholarship fund for English Language Learners! We chat all about making an impact, energy in crystals/gemstones, intentions, perfectionism, & more!

We're chatting all about FEELING UNSUPPORTED! As smart, go-getter women, we get really pumped to loop in the people we care about on our goals, dreams, vision, & ideas. But, sometimes, the response is lackluster or not on part with ours, which stings a little bit! And when this happens, we go to a story that doesn't serve us, such as "poor me" or "I'm all alone" or even "maybe my idea stinks & I shouldn't do it." So, let's REWRITE that story, SHIFT our perspective, and UTILIZE clear communication to empower ourselves, our relationships, and all the women you're going to serve in the future with your goals & dreams!

Today, I brought on my husband, Roger, to talk about something really EXCITING & SCARY that he's doing RIGHT NOW! We chat all about how FEAR can sometimes hold us back from pursuing our goals and dreams, and living that life that excites us! We also chat about starting messy and getting uncomfortable. Because, truly, if we wait around until we feel "ready," or until the situation is "perfect," then we're likely never ever going to start. And that not only hurts us, but it also hurts those who could benefit as a byproduct!
To connect with Roger, you can follow along on instagram: @rpowell1214. You can also check out his poetry here & here.

Today’s episode is a super fiery & encouraging PEP TALK! But, to get there, I do things a bit differently style-wise. I dive straight into a story from our—my husband & I—epic road trip honeymoon out west 2 years ago where we hiked & soaked up all things nature! Yes, this is a literal story about hiking, BUT symbolically, it was an all-time top 10 favorite moment of mine that’s about OVERCOMING barriers & obstacles because we ALL have our own wall of boulders to CONQUER! And I just KNOW you're going to LOVE IT, especially if you're on a journey toward living a life you're excited about!

Today’s episode is PART 2 of a two-part series that shares & breaks down the 5 POWERFUL PRINCIPLES my dad taught me when I was little. These 5 principles serve as a super empowering FOUNDATION for SUCCESS & FULFILLMENT with every goal or dream I’ve had in my life. Part 1 explored the power of showing up & doing the work, and Part 2 dive into DOING YOUR BEST, HAVING A GOOD ATTITUDE, & HAVING FUN in pursuit of the goal or dream. Thank you for being here!
Today is my dad’s 61st birthday, and to celebrate and honor him, I put together a TWO-PART SERIES that shares & breaks down the 5 POWERFUL PRINCIPLES he taught me when I was little. These 5 principles serve as a super empowering FOUNDATION for SUCCESS & FULFILLMENT with every goal or dream I’ve had in my life. Part 1 of this two-part series explores the power of SHOWING UP & DOING THE WORK, which have also helped me to REFLECT on what is or is not in alignment when it comes to my goals, dream, and life!
This week I brought on one of my good friends, Dr. Kait Tonti, to chat about lessons we learned teaching during a pandemic. Of course, there’s some practical advice for teachers, discussion of how teaching is conceptualized in society, and what good teaching looks like. BUT…even if you’re not in education, I PROMISE you’re going to take away so much from the larger & EMPOWERING NARRATIVE about being resilient, pivoting during a crisis, letting go of perfectionism, connecting as human beings, the power of literature, taking care of yourself, and truly, navigating & growing through a difficult time. Thank you for being here.
Today, I brought on Corinne Angelica, who is the board-certified holistic nutritionist I’ve been working with the past couple weeks, because she has a wealth of EMPOWERING KNOWLEDGE for women about health, hormones, & mindset! As ambitious, go-getter women, we have all these goals & dreams... BUT, we sometimes forget to take care of the body that will get us where we want to go. In this interview, we talk about navigating pivots, birth control, stress, advocacy, sugar, caffeine, and more! So, tune in for all the things & information because it is LIFE-CHANGING!!!

Today, we're talking about MOM POWER! Because I'm not a mom yet myself, I sat down with Chrysty Lockhart, a new friend of mine who is a mama, wife, teacher, health & wellness coach, and the host of Start Scared Podcast. She's also all about REAL TALK with #MomLife. We chat about what it’s like to be a mom, patience, how to navigate hard mom days, picking your battles as a parent, being a role model, mom guilt, and perfectionism… seriously, all the things. Moms are seriously rockstar superheroes!
Today's episode is all about FEELING BEHIND! Sometimes, when we know what we want with perfect clarity, it can feel like the path to our goals & dreams is TAKING TOO LONG, which makes us feel like we're never going to get there. But, here's the thing: TIMELINES ARE TOTALLY ARBITRARY! It doesn't actually matter how long it takes you to get to your goal because it's going to take as long as it takes. So, girl-- do yourself a favor & forget that timeline and listen in for THREE TANGIBLE TIPS you can use to STOP obsessing over how long it takes to achieve your goals & dreams!
Today's episode is all about REFRAMING our relationship with feeling "STUCK!" Often times, we view that "stuck" feeling in our jobs, city, relationship, or body, etc. as a BAD THING, which causes us anxiety, overwhelm, unhappiness, confusion, a lack of fulfillment, and a whole host of stories that DO NOT serve us. So, what if we just DECIDED to write a NEW narrative that said stuck was a GIFT to help us CHANGE!? What could it EMPOWER us to DO with our ONE SHOT on this planet? How much BETTER could life get if we LISTENED to what "stuck" was telling us and made an adjustment?!
Today is a very special episode! It's not only my 31st birthday, but I also had the immense honor to interview the woman who taught me how to podcast, Kacia Fitzgerald. She's also the CEO of She Goes Company & the host of EmpowerHer Podcast! Besides being kind, hilarious, brilliant, goofy, fun, and truly inspiring, Kacia is a wealth of knowledge, tactical tips, and incredible perspective/ mindset shifts when it comes to personal growth & chasing your dreams! In this interview, which feels more like two girlfriends chatting over coffee, we dive into so many important topics, such as having fun, the power of self-awareness, listening to your gut, authenticity, enjoying the process, expectations, and more. Tag us with your take aways: @kacia.fitzgerald & @dr.meggymarie
Today, we're talking about how it's OKAY to have an OFF DAY now and then because it's all a part of being a HUMAN! We live in a society that tells us to "pull ourselves up the bootstraps" and to "push through" no matter what. While that philosophy is good in theory, there are times when that notion HURTS US, rather than helps us. Often times, we place UNREALISTIC EXPECTATIONS on ourselves in pursuit of the goal & dream, and that prompts us to tell stories about how we're not smart or capable, which is so not true. So, listen in for THREE lessons I learned from a recent "off day" that helped me GAIN PERSPECTIVE & KEEP GOING! Tag me with your take aways: @dr.meggymarie
I had the immense honor and privilege of sitting down with my friend & new author, Jeré Anthony, to discuss her debut novel, Drive Me Crazy. This romantic comedy is out TODAY (4.6.21), so make sure that you run-- don't walk-- to snag your copy on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and/or Jeré’s website! As someone who got her hands on an advanced copy of Drive Me Crazy, I can PROMISE you that the book is laugh out loud hilarious, adorable, and socially important for its representations of mental health & relationships. We cover so much POWERFUL territory, such as: the courage & audacity it takes to make your dream a reality, how to navigate external & internal obstacles along the way, sacrifices & time management to keep after it, and SO MUCH MORE! Jeré will INSPIRE you to KEEP GOING after your dreams because it's never easy, but DANG-- it's WORTH IT!
In today's episode, we're talking all about COMPARISON, which ROBS US of happiness, enjoyment, and fulfillment. When we look at what others are doing, we can become JEALOUS & UNCONFIDENT, which results in telling ourselves BS stories about how we're behind, we're incapable, or even that we're never going to get there. And then, we make a DETRIMENTAL DECISION that the derails or deters us from accomplishing the thing we're passionate about. So listen in for 3 tangible tips on how to NAVIGATE comparison & EMPOWER yourself through a season or moment of jealousy and a lack of confidence. Because, girl, YOU'VE GOT THIS!
I sat down with my favorite international bestselling romance author, Lauren Rowe, to talk about all things romance, writing, and life! I discovered Lauren's book in graduate school and fell head over heels for the way she balances humor with heart-melting moments, drama, and steam. Lauren's books are MORE than entertainment. In incredible and empowering ways, she quite literally rewrites societal and cultural narratives about relationships, sexuality and sensuality, consent, and what it means to be a man. Even if you're not a writer, you're going to LOVE her EPIC philosophy on life, learn so much about the power of stories, publishing, writing, and self-care in the pursuit of a goal. You can find Lauren at her website or on instagram. Be sure to tag BOTH of us at @laurenrowebooks & @dr.meggymarie with your take aways!
In today's episode, I had the privilege of sitting down with Carleigh Weaver, who is a fun, brilliant, and saucy THERAPIST. In our conversation, we cover IMPORTANT topics, such as mental health stigmas for women (and men), enabling, representations of mental health in popular culture, toxic positivity, and self-care. Our goal is to NORMALIZE conversations about mental health, to DISPEL problematic stereotypes/stigmas, and to EMPOWER YOU with crucial perspective shifts, resources, and tips/tools when it comes to your supporting your own (and others') mental wellness. Make sure to tag us with your take aways: @carleigh.weaver & @dr.meggymarie.
Today's episode is PART 2 of a TWO-PART series about Taking Yourself Out! In this episode, I talk a lot about DOUBT and how it can roll in like an untimely fog and prompt us to ABANDON our GOALS & DREAMS if we're not careful. Even though we want to write that book, start that company, or launch that podcast MORE THAN ANYTHING, doubt causes us to SECOND GUESS it all. But you & I KNOW that you're way too driven and passionate and are doing this thing on your heart FOR A REASON to let doubt win! So, listen in for three more TANGIBLE TIPS you can implement today to help you navigate that self-sabotaging inclination because the world NEEDS YOU to FOLLOW THROUGH!
Today's episode is PART 1 of a TWO-PART series! In this episode, I talk about that desire to do something that you're PASSIONATE about, such as starting a business or writing a book. BUT, you get scared or you're overwhelmed because you're not totally sure what you're doing, so you somehow convince yourself NOT to do it. And before you know it, you've TAKEN YOURSELF OUT at the knees BEFORE you even got a chance to start! And you and I both know you are way too PUMPED about this thing on your heart to do that to yourself. So, listen in for three TANGIBLE TIPS you can implement today to help navigate that self-sabotaging inclination because that thing on your heart MATTERS.
In today's super short, totally spontaneous & surprise bonus episode, I share a REAL TIME realization about TAKING CARE of OURSELVES! As ambitious, go-getter women who pour into others, we often forget we are NOT MACHINES and we need to attend to our own needs if we want to help others. Let's challenge the story we tell ourselves about pushing through at all costs and feeling bad about rest. You DO NOT need to feel bad, nor apologize for taking care of you.
Today, we're celebrating 5 full episodes of the podcast, so we're diving into a super fun, pep-talk style conversation that focuses on BEING INTENTIONAL! Often times, we think there's some sort of MAGIC BEAN out there that will help us cut corners to gain success or to solve a problem. We might even think there's something we DON'T have that someone else does, but that's simply NOT true! We can empower ourselves by BEING INTENTIONAL about nearly everything because that's the TRUE MAGIC!
In this episode, I talk about our "go ham" culture, and how it conditions us to associate doing our BEST with "100% all in, no excuses, effort," which leads to BURNOUT & RESENTMENT of our goals and dreams. I share a personal story of how I fell into this trap & how I got myself out of it by REDEFINING my criteria for doing my best! Connect with me on instagram: @dr.meggymarie & visit my website at: www.meggymarie.com
In this episode, I share a silly personal story about a crappy Monday to demonstrate the VALUE of REFLECTION. There is so much POWER & POTENTIAL in reflecting on all the mundane or seemingly insignificant moments in our lives, especially since it can reveal so many valuable LIFE LESSONS. By reflecting on the little stuff, we can move mountains!
This surprise BONUS episode is all about REFRAMING Failure & EMBRACING the Comeback Narrative! It's inspired by the 2021 Super Bowl where the Kansas City Chiefs lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. HOWEVER, it's about so much MORE than football! The Comeback Narrative is a POWERFUL TOOL for navigating ADVERSITY in your life to get where you want to go. Listen in for some questions you can ponder and journal about, and tag me on instagram (@dr.meggymarie) for any key takeaways!
This episode is all about EMBRACING who YOU are, rather than who society thinks you should be. I analyze Paris Geller from Gilmore girls, and drop some FIERY quotes from Chimamanda Adichie & Brene Brown. I also share a mindset shift & some other strategic tips to help you celebrate the POWER OF BEING YOU!
This episode is an introduction to the Power Within Her Podcast. I talk about my own struggles with my identity, redefining my relationship with learning, and how I listened to my heart. Specifically, I mention Kate Chopin's The Awakening, found here, and a quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson, found here.
