Praying God’s Word: “Lord, I am so thankful for your power and majesty. You heal the brokenhearted and fix what is broken. Thank you for sending Jesus to rescue me and THANK YOU for promising to send Jesus again to bring forth the victory! Amen.”

Praying God’s Word: “Lord, Thank you that we have heaven to look forward to. I long for the day when you will dwell with your people. As I think about all the pain I’ve experienced and suffering present in the world, I am so thankful that in heaven every tear will be wiped away. Amen.”

Meditating on God’s Word: Revelation 20:12-15 (White Throne Judgement) And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books… each person was judged according to what they had done. Anyone whose name was not found written in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.
Praying God’s Word: These verses describe how the ultimate and eternal destiny of each person will be determined. Lord, we are so familiar with Ephesians 2: 8-9 For it is by grace we have been saved through faith, and this is not from ourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boost; that we overlook that everyone will give an account of their actions. Our deeds are unmistakable evidence of the loyalty of our heart. Works express belief or unbelief, faithfulness or unfaithfulness. Those whose name is not in the Book of Life will be thrown into the lake of fire. Lord, use these sobering truths to make me bolder in sharing with my family, friends, and coworkers. I want to be your faithful disciple. Amen.

Meditating on God’s Word: Revelation 19:6-8. After this I heard what sounded like the roar of a great multitude in heaven shouting: “Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, for true and just are his judgments. Revelation 19:1-2 Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear.
Praying God’s Word: Hallelujah! “Praise the Lord” Father, in this chapter we read heaven’s response to the destruction we read about in the previous 2 chapters. Thank you for salvation and your ultimate divine justice. I want to shout HALLELUJAH because salvation, glory, & power belong to you. Thank you for providing the way for me to be a part of your bride the CHURCH.

Praying God’s Word: “Father, when we are faced with the trials and setbacks of life, we need to be reminded of the many times You have done great things for us. One of the great hymns of the faith is “Count Your Blessings.” In that hymn, one of the stanzas contains the phrase, “Count your blessings, name them one by one, count your blessings, see what God has done!” So the next time we face the difficulties of life, help us to remember the many blessings You have done in our life and rejoice, knowing that we have many blessings from Your hand yet to come. Your faithfulness to us in the past is a promise of Your faithfulness to us in the future. Amen.”

Praying God’s Word: “Father, one of the great truths in our meditation today is that Christ is an eternal high priest who makes intercession for us. His priesthood and intercessory work is able to forever save those who draw near to You, as He never changes, and His priesthood will never end. That is something that was missing in the Old Covenant in which the work of a high priest was temporary due to their death. Christ is not like that. His work as our high priest is eternal. Thank you for such a high priest as Christ who is able to eternally accomplish our redemption. Amen.”

Praying God’s Word “Father, as we look around ourselves, we are often overcome by the wind and the waves of life, much like Peter on the Sea of Galilee. It is at those times we need to remind ourselves that our help is not found in human agencies or our own resources, but in the creator of heavens and earth. When we cry out, “Lord, save me,” You are there to reach down and lift us up. So, when we feel overcome by the trials of life, help us to remember that the creator of the universe is on our side and is there to help us through whatever may come our way. Amen.”

Praying God’s Word: “Father, we are reminded today of the power of the Word of God. It exposes our hearts and our motives, and is a true discerner of our thoughts and attitudes. We always see ourselves as better than we are, and that is why we need to expose ourselves regularly to the truths of Your word so that we may see ourselves more clearly. We may lie to ourselves, but your Word never does. So, help us regularly expose ourselves to the Scriptures so that they may expose our hearts and enable us to see ourselves as we really are so that we may repent of our sin and become more like You. Amen.”

Help me to hear what it is You have to say to me today, and help me to know You more and more through Your Son. Amen.”

Even as I pray, remind me of those in my life that I take for granted. Thank you for my brothers and sisters in the faith, who you have sent to ‘refresh my heart in Christ.’ Amen.”

Even in this one Psalm, the longest in the book, what we need is not to get through it, but for You to get through to us whatever it is you long to say to us today. Today, and every day throughout this excursion, we need You to open our eyes to see the wonder of who You and what You’re doing. Reveal Yourself to us in Your Word, we pray! Amen.”

Praying God’s Word: “Lord, what a foreshadowing we have in this Psalm hundreds of years before Jesus! You have answered the greatest need that I have before I was even alive to ask for Your help. I needed forgiveness from my sins, and through Christ, You have become my salvation! He is the cornerstone, rejected by so many, but precious to me, because He is the One who I can build my life on. Thank you for coming to my rescue! Amen.”

Praying God’s Word “Father, today I find in the shortest Psalm in all Scripture such a great summary of the reasons I have to worship You with my whole life. I praise You because Your love toward me is so great, and because Your faithfulness is never ending. This is exactly what is put on display at the cross: It’s a picture of the depth of Your love, and the extent of Your faithfulness. So let me praise You in all I do today! Amen.”

Like Paul says, these are the very words that you breathed out! Help me to come alive to Your Word, so that it can teach me, rebuke me, correct me, and train me to be more and more like Jesus. Amen.”

Praying God’s Word: “Lord, I love how this Psalm repeats the idea that we are not the ones who should be getting the glory. Guard my heart from this idolatry! Remind me again and again, I am not living for the glory of myself, my family, my country, my denomination, my political party, my workplace, or even my local church. None of these things are worthy! Only You, because of Your love and faithfulness, are worthy of the glory, so help me to glorify You alone today. Amen.”

Perhaps begin with requests for prayer so that’s not overlooked at the end. It’s important to take the time to fellowship and pray intentionally for one another. Ice breaker: What is the highest place you have every physically been to? Tell your story - were you afraid? Would you go again or like to go higher? Discuss the high places in our lives. What was the high place for your family of origin? How did that affect you then and now? How has Jesus transformed your high place? Paul was all alone and the Lord had already in mind for Priscilla & Aquila to meet him in Corinth and Silas and Timothy were close on their heels. Describe a time in your life when the Lord provided support at just the right time. Stop and collectively praise God for those moments shared by everyone. Are any of you frustrated like Paul was with the Jews - with a family member, co-worker or neighbor who you’ve been trying to share Jesus with? Share names if appropriate so that you all can pray for these people specifically at the end and lift up your LG member to be encouraged and strengthened. It’s all about His mission and His way of using you in your sphere of influence. How can we keep Jesus in His rightful high place and keep from getting distracted from the mission of going, sharing and making disciples? Who has God brought into your life that can help you with this? Close in prayer giving all we discussed to the Lord together! Amen!

Simon judges Jesus for allowing a sinful woman to wash His feet.Application: Pride produces a self-focused perspective that limits your ability to love. What Jesus saw: The perspective of grace. Jesus saw the condition of Simon’s heart. Jesus saw two debtors: Both owed a debt they couldn’t pay, and both were in need of God’s unmerited forgiveness. Our love is seen most clearly in how we respond when it becomes costly. In ancient times, leprosy was just as much a relational disease as it was a physical one. Sin has broken our relationships and made us unfit for God’s presence. In his approach, the leper demonstrates a desperate belief: a combination of suffering, faith, humility, and surrender.Jesus’ response answers the question: He restores the leper, showing that He is both willing and able to save. Jesus uses His body to touch the man, comforting him and affirming his human dignity. Jesus uses His words to reveal God’s heart and to heal the disease. Getting to know Jesus is something that we can’t afford to ignore.
We all have misconceptions about Jesus that need to be addressed.
The people of Nazareth had misgivings about Jesus’ identity, mission, and audience.
Identity: Jesus has become a great teacher, but He’s no Messiah. Mission: Jesus is here to serve our Audience: Jesus will give special preference to certain people.
Jesus intentionally confronts our misconceptions because He wants to be known by us.
Mission: Jesus came to be crushed so that we could be healed. Audience: Jesus came for everyone impacted by the curse of sin. Identity: Jesus is the long awaited Messiah, the savior of the world, and the rightful King over all creation.
Whenever we learn something about Jesus, it’s an invitation to respond to Jesus.

The question is: “training them to be & do what?” Parenting is “discipling the next generation.” Why does the Gospel of Luke even bother to mention circumcision? It was a physical sign of the covenant between God and the Jewish people. It was a part of God’s overall training plan for His children. It was a custom to be observed in every succeeding generation. It was an act of parents obeying God. It was always done with naming the child. God is a planner
God’s plan for our salvation started before creation. Jesus lived according to God’s plan. The adventure of trust is learning to trust God and His plans. God’s plan for teaching us how to trust is to entrust us.
God calls us to plan
Biblical wisdom calls for wise planning. A plan is a pathway to get us where we want to be. A financial plan is a budget; a plan for God’s money. Money is a discipleship issue.

the time of judgment on sin and victory for the cause of the Lord and untold blessing for His faithful people
Sober up!
People of the light know the truth. People who live in darkness.
Asleep: moral indifference and carelessness about spiritual things. Drunk: no inhibitions, just living for the flesh.
Let us be sober and alert
