There's SO much power in understanding your FEELINGS and the feelings of others. Even the toughest, most mentally sharp and resilient people have feelings. We all do. Its the elephant in the room most of the time to be self aware of your own emotions and the emotions of others. Listen up for 3 simple ways to hone in on your own ability to connect deeper to yourself and others. Let's get to it!
It's ok to try something new, and screw it up. We all fear judgment and lack of validation from those in our circles when we don't succeed in our endeavors. ... Or, maybe you have old trauma of being humiliated as a child which creates a deeply rooted sense of risk aversion. Let it go... focus on the self and redirect your energy in learning what not to do each time you screw up. Listen in for more...
You've done the meditations... you've focused on the breath... you have even hugged a tree and communed with your spirit team. Now what? Here are 3 simple steps to level up your pursuit of nirvana. Come... as you are..... as you were...
Notice that it's 3 SIMPLE steps... not "easy" steps ..but oh so very worth it. Raise your vibration and manifest EVERYTHING you desire. Get out of your head and start listening to your heart. Listen in now!
What if... you are a powerful creator? What if you could manifest everything you ever desired? What if you could stop thinking negative, self sabotaging, lack based thoughts and instead reprogram your mindset into one of abundance? Think I'm crazy? .... listen in and decide for yourself. Let's get it.
I used to feel like I was the most impatient person I know. That said, I'm still "impatient" but when I recognize that I am feeling that way, I challenge it differently these days and I want to share with you what I have learned... come with me and I'll share 3 magical ways to engage patience and also why it's important to do so.... now hurry up...haha... kidding..sort of.. let's get it!
We all know the feeling of crushing anxiety. But did you know that with a little practice of using these steps, you can manage your life. There is only ONE catch.... you have to actively participate in changing the narrative that goes on in your head. No one can save you from the wretched grip of anxiety ...but you. (ok that was a little dramatic but you know what I mean.) Let us begin!
We have all been burned, hurt, misled and manipulated by people who were not right for us. In today's episode we explore ways to regain our power by practicing three methods to detach from unhealthy, unavailable, avoidant and dismissive people. Let's start the healing process!
When you feel like hot garbage when you open your eyes try this: "I do not accept this. I do not choose to feel this way." Then get up and go about your day. It may not change your feelings in the moment but denying your depression and anxiety by stating that you no longer "accept" it, is the starting point of taking your power back. You are NOT your emotions. You can feel them without accepting them. Many folks stay in stuck in a rut of depression and anxiety for years simply because they accept it. You don't have to accept it. Your subconscious accepts everything as fact so start giving yourself positive affirmations and denying the negative. Lets get into it!
"The only thing we have to fear is fear itself." - Franklin Delano Roosevelt
The root of all our neurosis.... is fear. Let me tell you about my fear... maybe you can relate. Let's get it.
Let's be honest. No one likes to hear that they've screwed up. Being criticized touches on our deepest held traumas and magnifies subconsious fears and insecurities. But what if you could mindfully employ thoughtful discernment each and every time someone criticizes you and as a result transmute your perspective? What if you could better understand yourself each time someone criticized you (whether warranted or not)? What if instead of being defensive and further regressing into your trauma, you championed yourself as someone who, like everyone, is fallible but also willfully healing? Can you take it? Let's find out.....
Seriously. The universe wants you to have EVERYTHING you desire. So the only reason you don't have what it is you desire, is because you are resisting the changes you need to make in order to manifest all your wildest dreams! Let go! Allow! Stop resisting....that's all fear anyway so let's get into it.....
I'll say it until the cows come home. Your mental health is more important than any relationship you have. Your mental health should be the biggest priority. I have a few thoughts I'd like to share so lemme dig in, shall I? Let's get into it.

Of course, I believe that you should try to save your marriage. Of course, I know that conflict happens in the healthiest of connections. I would never tell someone to give up on their marriage immediately, but when you’ve done everything, the therapy, the date night, the gifts, or you simply sat around, hoping and praying for things to change, you simply have to take matters into your hands. My hope with this episode is that this gives you license to find your freedom on your terms. Let’s get into it.

"“When you push against somebody, even the subtlest model in your head they should be different than they are, awakens in them at a very unconscious level, pushing back; a resistance, a subtle paranoia.” - Ram Dass. We suffer when we place our expectations of happiness in the hands of others. Instead, we should focus on our responses to external conditions and determine whether or not we choose to participate. Other people become paranoid when we infer that they need to change in order for our needs to be met, further eroding the connection. Shame is insidious. It can shadow any opportunity for healing and growth. When a person experiences shame as a result of any situation, most of the time it's simply allowed and not questioned on the merits of it's validity. I want you to take this opportunity to consider the root of your shame; why you feel the way you do, and ways to overcome it. As a result you will increase your healing and grow into your purpose. Joy is your birthright.

We've all done it. Vented angrily. Gossiped. Condemned. Judged. Expressed negative opinions and thoughts without a filter or restrictions without any consideration for the impact, injury or pain it causes. What we don't tend to consider is the fact that whatever we project / express is returned to us without prejudice. The message in this episode is to encourage authentic exploration of our attitudes and opinions. If we are consistently negative, we will only reap negativity. If we are intentional in identifying areas of gratitude, our perspectives shift accordingly and as a result we reap positivity. Check it out!

There is so much power in being present in a conversation with someone. It can be difficult to allow others to speak freely without interjecting into the dialogue personal accounts, "one ups", or comparisons. We may often find it difficult to not try to "fix" other people and their problems as they present them to us. Most of the time, when people share their experiences, problems and stories with us, they want to be heard instead of judged and nothing more. In fact, when the narrative is a huge life event or problem, people almost never expect that the person listening has some magical ability to fix the problem, yet we may feel compelled to try anyway. Todays episode challenges all of us to engage in active listening while being mindful of our own tendencies to overshare, one-up and "fix" unimaginable problems. Holding space, being present without judgment, is sometimes, the best medicine there is.

So often we can get consumed with our emotional response to a situation or condition that we allow it to determine our course of action. The problem with this is that emotional states do not tend to evolve in these conditions but instead repeat and reiterate themselves when we consistently remind ourselves about it in negative affirmations. You've heard the term "life comes at you fast". Well, it's true and if we aren't intentional with our time and energy, we tend to allow our lives to merely happen. Living intentionally starts with very small but fundamental and impactful changes. Instilling a daily routine, for instance, can allow you to regain the mindfulness of the moment and spend your time purposefully instead of just waiting for the time to pass without meaning.

It's not an easy subject but it's something that we need to talk about and keep talking about. No one wants to get it wrong so we avoid it, we hide it and we pretend not to notice. I've been there myself, so depressed that I just wanted it all to end. I just didn't want to go on. Now, I live my life with gratitude and purpose. I'm not special. It is my belief that you can achieve hope through your healing journey just as I have. We all have been there. Conflicting opinions, challenging poor behaviors and habits when talking to loved ones. We want them to do better but they tell us things and stories that we don't agree with and we feel compelled to challenge and judge the behaviors and opinions of those we are attempting to communicate with. When we actively listen, we are not being inauthentic but instead we are sharing space and time and challenging thoughts and ideas in validating, safe and caring ways. More often than not, we can get caught up in the desire for them to hear us, as opposed to providing the space for them to share openly.

What's with the obsession in social media these days over narcissism, narcissistic abuse etc? Did you know that we have all at some point in time, behaved in narcissistic ways? Instead of focusing on whether or not a person is a diagnosable narcissist, instead, focus on their actions. If someone isn't treating you right, then that alone is worthy of enforcing a boundary. Don't worry about the label. Worry about the actions. You can't change other people and how they act toward you but you can damn sure change how you react to them.

Most people who subconsciously or passively participate in "gaslighting" behavior are really engaging in the trauma response. (a trauma response is a defensive reaction/mechanism that can manifest in a variety of ways from self harm to the projection of emotional abuse toward others as an example for the purpose of this description) It's not an excuse for poor behavior of course, but an explanation as to what it is, how to identify it, understanding how damaging it is to relationships, and doing better by engaging in a proactive healing journey of self. So if you're gaslighting people, it's important to understand yourself better, be accountable for harmful behavior, changing your behavior, and learning how to communicate more effectively in the future. Are you being gaslit?

We've all been there. We have a fight and now they won't talk to us. We feel disrespected and we enforce a boundary with someone and we know that we can't change their behavior so we choose not to deal with it at all. Today's episode discusses the underpinnings of what happens in these situations, how to define the actual problem and how to elevate, learn and grow into a better version of ourselves as a result of it. It may not bring back that person into your life but it will definitely help you to better isolate the problematic behaviors that created the situation to begin with.

This episode details the benefits of acknowledging the reality of the conditions you're facing. Whether is a lover who abandoned you, a job opportunity given to someone else, the loss of a sentimental item in a housefire, a wrecked car...etc. Radically accepting your conditions isn't the same as approving. You don't have to like your conditions but when you accept them you make room for growth and healing.

Welcome! My name is Alma Leigh. Why should you listen? You should listen to this podcast because I speak openly about mental health conditions in a way that is relatable and not always so clinical and intimidating in nature. Even though I am a clinical psychotherapist I am a person who has also struggled with mental health issues my whole life and as a therapist I strive to deliver a helpful message to the audience in a way that it is engaging, validating, and inspiring. I want you to feel A sense of connection and listening to the stories on this platform. I want you to feel heard. May be listening to the stories on this platform you can let go of some of your shame and fear as well that’s the name of the show. There are only two emotions fear and love. My hope is that you understand that while this podcast in and of itself is not therapy it will provide you a sense of familiarity so that you can seek out a therapist on your own and not feel so intimidated by the process. After all, you need something to listen to on the drive over there!
