I encourage you to learn CPR. However, bear in mind, if you're not trained in CPR, by providing chest compressions alone can also be effective until professional help arrives.
High blood pressure is also known as hypertension. It is a condition where the force of blood against the walls of the arteries is consistently too high. If left without treatment, can have a negative effect on various organs of the body, such as the eye, brain, heart, and kidneys. It is important to take the necessary precautions to help in the reduction of high blood pressure. For example, regular blood pressure check-ups and timely management are crucial to prevent or minimize the adverse effects on organs and overall health. Lifestyle changes, such as a healthy diet, regular exercise, and stress reduction, along with medication when necessary.
Key things to remember before performing intravenous therapy :
Check for the order
Make sure you have all equipment needed for the procedure
Identify your patient (Name, MRN, and DOB)
Explain the procedure to the patient before the performance.
It can be overwhelming when starting your nursing assignments, however, as you gain more experience this feeling will be alleviated. As we continue world breastfeeding week, it is critical to provide support and information to new mothers so that they can make informed decisions about what is best for them and their babies. There are times, a mom will not be able to breastfeed or chooses not to, formula feeding is a safe alternative that can also provide adequate nutrition for the baby. The most important factor is to ensure that mom and baby are in good health.
Breastfeeding is golden fluid for babies which ensures health and survival. There are many benefits of breastfeeding which include bonding, increased immunity, prevention of contagious diseases, and may increase IQ.WHO, UNICEF and other Health Ministries support the same.
Remember to empathize and reassure the patient that you understand that the removal of a Foley catheter might seem a bit daunting, but I can assure you that it's a relatively simple and painless procedure. Explain the steps with confidence and clarity to the patient's level of understanding. Be calm, maintain a warm and confident tone throughout the procedure and conversation.
Nurses should encourage patients to participate in the care planning process and value their input, understanding their preferences, and considering their goals. This collaborative approach ensures that the care plan aligns with the patient's needs, values, and priorities.
Great effective communication will aid in reducing communication errors and improve patient safety. The patient comes to the healthcare facility for help and not harm, therefore our goal is to keep the patient safe.
Live in a constant changing environment is reality . Healthcare personals have seen this happening so rapidly especially in the 21st century. For us nurses, the days of writing on progress notes are long gone .Just imagine we are now using computer to document patients information quickly . A few decades ago we practice traditional information , now we practice digitalize information , it is so advantageous . Since we can access information at our fingertips within a minute.
New nurses are reminded to ask questions , check policies and procedures manuals for information when they are uncertain of delivery of quality care . It's better to be safe than to be sorry.

There must be proper security of the tube on the patient's thigh, the system should remain closed, no twisting of the tube, collection bag should be located below the bladder to prevent any backflow of urine into e bladder. The nurse must advocate for the removal if there is no need indicated as soon as possible. Pericare as per policy and as needs are. Some hospitals have some special per- kits that are used for that purpose.

Today, their are many black nurses that have joined the professional nursing systems from around the world, with diverse backgrounds.

There should be representatives in all strata of the healthcare industry. Diversity should be celebrated because this is what life offers.

Menopause is a natural biological process. It is a time in a woman's life when her menstrual cycle has ended. It is not an illness. It does not happen suddenly, but gradually. There are three stages: Perimenopausal/transition, menopause, and postmenopausal. The pre-menopausal stage begins about 4 years before the last period. Menopause can happen in the early 40's or late 50's.
Laughter has many benefits including, reduction of pain, improving mood, decreases tension, helps to bond people together. The Mayo Clinic has listed many benefits of laughter to enhance health and well-being.
Self-Care improves the nurses mental, physical, emotional capacities to provide high-quality care to others. In addition, reduces stress, lowers mortality, health cost, and morbidity.

Bullying is a disruptive and significant issue that has been confronting nurses and other professionals. Education of the staff, developing code of conduct to address such behaviors, collaboration of leaders and managers to ensure that there is not a perpetual occurrence, and for protection of anyone who expresses concerns on unacceptable behaviors.
Bullying is common in nursing. This behavior is unacceptable and must be dealt with appropriately. New nurses are scared to ask questions at times because they fear to be bullied. This is a disruptive behavior which can result in the safety of the patient, costly to the organizations, decreased job satisfaction, and increase the number of new nurses quitting the profession. According to The American Nurses Association's, " Bullying is the repeated, unwanted harmful actions with the intent to humiliate, defend, and to cause distress in the recipient." There are the overt and covert types of bullying.
There are many and varied challenges in nursing. In this episode we will discuss three of them.
Nursing Shortage - nursing school enrollment is less than the required
Lack of nursing school faculty/ educators
Physicality- job description, transportation, and work related injuries
Bullying and Harassment - is growing and has become a serious nursing issue
