On July 12, 2023 music enthusiasts gathered to experience the enchanting performance of “The Fantasy Big Band”, an ensemble of 18 talented New England musicians specializing in the great music of the Big Band Swing Era. With complete big band instrumentation and sensational vocalists, they present the most popular hits of the ’30s and ’40s, along with contemporary dance tunes.
At the Willows, surrounded by lush greenery, the outdoor ambiance set the perfect stage for an evening of music. Fantasy Big Band's diverse repertoire took the audience on a musical journey across generations.
The crowd couldn't resist the rhythmic beats, and many took to the dance floor to sway and tap their feet in sync with the music. The family-friendly event welcomed music lovers of all ages, making it a memorable night shared with loved ones, friends, and neighbors.
On this episode, Shelby sits down with Sen. Michael Moore and Karen Henderson to talk about the recent House and Senate Bills H.74 and S.34, which would direct the state to collect fees from streaming companies twice per year into the general fund.
Twenty percent would be retained for administrative costs. The remaining 80 percent would be disbursed to municipalities, based on population, to be evenly split between the municipality and its community media station for “expenditures related to hybrid municipal meetings, data infrastructure improvements, school technology programs and more,” according to Mass Access, a non-profit, 501(c)(6), membership-based advocacy agency who’s goal is to ensure the future of Massachusetts based community media centers.

The Hundredth Town Chorus performed a wonderful concert at the Westborough Senior Center on Wednesday, May 17, 2023. Under the direction of Mary Havlicek Cornacchia, The Rainbow Connection concert was funded by a grant from the Westborough Cultural Council. Attendees were treated to great renditions of heart-warming songs like Over the Rainbow, Rainbow Connection, and Dancing Queen. The mission of the Hundredth Town Chorus is to bring the joy of music to others - singing at area nursing homes, assisted living and rehab facilities, and senior centers around the MetroWest and Central Mass area.

Learn about their trials and triumphs in the Westborough Historical Society's program, "Famous Women of Westborough Across the Centuries," on Monday, January 9, 2023 at 7 p.m. This program will featured entrepreneur Betsy Fay (1700s), beloved teacher Annie Fales (1800s), prize-winning author Esther Forbes and horticulturist Bee Warburton (1900s), and Gold Star Olympian Nikki Stone (2000s). Presented by historian Kristina Nilson Allen. This event was sponsored by the Westborough Historical Society.

The InterBoro Community Band is a volunteer ensemble that performs regularly in the Central Massachusetts area. We are a member of The Association of Concert Bands (ACB) and play a wide variety of band literature ranging from traditional classic concert band music to more contemporary and popular band arrangements. hile a student at New England Conservatory in Boston (Monroe's alma mater) trombonist, arranger, and bandleader Dan Gabel discovered that Vaughn Monroe's entire music library was at the school. As he delved deeper into Monroe, Gabel felt a strong connection to not only the music, but to the Monroe story and legacy. Trombonist/trumpeter turned vocalist, bandleader, the "local Boston boy makes it big" angle, NEC, left-handed, family values, model train hobbies: who are we talking about, Monroe or Gabel? The lifelong passion Dan Gabel has for jazz and big band music was rekindled with a goal of bringing the music back to life for performance. At a successful Masters Recital, Gabel was able to connect and form friendships with the Monroe family as well as the Vaughn Monroe Appreciation Society.
Having led his own successful big band, Dan Gabel and The Abletones, for a decade, Gabel was the obvious choice to become the leader of the new Vaughn Monroe Orchestra. However, just forming another big band to play the music would not be enough. Gabel decided after conducting many interviews with fans and people close to Monroe that something more was needed. In order to fully (re)create the Monroe Orchestra, it would have to be a show. The singers, dancers, comedian, the outfits, band fronts... the entire era. Thus, the concept for The Vaughn Monroe Show was born.

The Reminisants have been entertaining audiences of all ages throughout New England since 1973. The band specializes in oldies music from the 1950s through the ’90s, playing a collection of great music for all kinds of musical tastes and generations. The band was formed in 1973 by three Waltham High School friends, Dom Viscione, Mike Joyal and Fran Doorakian and has since expanded to the current six-man group. The Westborough community was invited to the second Public Forum on the proposed renovation/expansion of the Westborough Public Library on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at 7:00 pm at the library. Hear about the history of the project, the work that has been done up to this point, our $9.4 million grant, and the proposed timeline. This session was presented by Library Director Maureen Amyot.
The Tom Nutile Big Band is one of the region’s most accomplished and exciting big bands. We are a first-call band for swing and ballroom dances, corporate functions, black-tie fund raisers, weddings, parties and concerts. In addition to traditional swing, we also can play modern pop tunes, soul and funk, Latin, jump, lindy, modern jazz, waltzes and, yes, even polkas.

The Willows kicked off their annual summer-long concert series with the Interboro Band this past Wednesday, June 22, 2022. Those in attendance were awestruck by the outstanding performance given by the Interboro Band, and couldn't help but sway along to their upbeat tunes!

Join us to Meet Julia Walderzak, Chief Wine Officer of the Decanted Wine Truck. Julia began her entrepreneurial career 15 years ago, and has started a variety of successful businesses (because she can't sit still), including H2K, her mobile-based kid's fitness company which began franchising in 2017. Her love for wine started back in her days of working in the restaurant business in New York City. The more she learned about wine - the more she fell in love with it. Julia knew something wine related was going to be a business venture for her. Cut to a few years later, the pandemic hit and Julia saw it as her opportunity to jump on this "crazy wine bar on wheels? idea. Voilà, in March 2020, Decanted was born! In just over a year, the converted retro wine camper known as the Winona has taken New England by storm. What a night! Westborough Fine Arts Education Association (WFAEA) and the Westborough High School Fine Arts Department presented their 1st annual Pops Concert this evening. The event began at 6pm with small ensemble performances, appetizers, and a silent auction before transitioning into the auditorium for the concert at 7pm. The topic for this month’s guest speaker was Dealing Effectively with Stress. We all know that eating healthy, getting enough sleep, and exercising help us to cope with stress, but who has time for that? The continuous demands of our jobs, hectic schedules and everyday lives keep us on the stress hamster wheel. We try to suppress the stress to make it through another day and tell ourselves we’ll deal with it later. But then later comes and it’s the same story. Our health, relationships and sanity suffer because, instead of effectively dealing with our stress, we continue to try to power through it.
In this interactive workshop we reviewed techniques to navigate the stress of our everyday lives mindfully. We addressed the stress by using tools to help us acknowledge it and decompress in the moment, so we regain focus, balance, and momentum more quickly and consciously.

Emmy is a certified leadership coach, facilitator, and speaker. She has spent most of her career in the service, retail, and cosmetics industries primarily in management and leadership roles. Worcester’s Role in the American Revolution - March 7, 2022.
The Westborough Historical Society Presents: Worcester’s Role in the American Revolution: Many students learned in elementary school that the American Revolution began in April 1775 at Lexington and Concord. There are others, however, who believe with good reason that the Revolution actually began the previous autumn in Worcester. Like every town in Massachusetts, Worcester had a Committee of Correspondence that led opposition to the British, but Worcester also had a radical group (the American Political Society) that pushed for Independence. Robert Stacy, Site Manager for Worcester’s Salisbury Mansion, described some of the sites associated with the beginnings of the American Revolution in Worcester, including the homes of Stephen Salisbury and Isaiah Thomas, the Court House that the Worcester militias closed, and the taverns where the Patriots and Tories gathered.
