‘If not us, who? If not now, when?’
My name is Zoe Daniel, and I am your community-backed independent candidate for Goldstein in the forthcoming federal election in 2022.
In nearly 30 years of reporting, I’ve covered natural disasters, conflict, economics and politics, and all manner of news around the world. I’ve seen first-hand the impact of climate change in the Arctic, and I’ve covered floods, typhoons, and bushfires across four continents, including Australia.
I have waited, like many, for our governments to develop costed and structured strategies to safeguard our community and economy, to innovate, and to embrace the immense business and job opportunities that a renewable climate economy presents. In short, to lead.
I’ve found my voice., and I am stepping up to the table.
I invite you to join this movement and allow me to represent you in Federal Parliament. Your Voice is Your Vote, and we should no longer be taken for granted. The next parliament is critical to the future of our children, our environment, our economy, and our planet now and for generations to come.
Let’s make our kids proud of us.

Domestic and family violence has rightly been dubbed ‘Australia’s great shame’. Zoe Daniel MP breaks down the crisis with Kathy Kaplan OAM, Founder of IMPACT for Women who shares profound insights and details her incredible work in making a difference for Victorian women and children escaping extreme home violence.
IMPACT for Women is a completely volunteer-run charity in Goldstein. Starting as an ova of an idea in March 2006, Kathy and twenty of her friends sourced donations and, in a friend’s lounge room, packed 100 hampers which were then delivered to several metropolitan Safe Houses that support domestic violence victims. Last April nearly 500 volunteers packed almost 2000 Bags of Love.

For those that might not know, the Victorian Women’s Trust was established in 1985 in support of advocacy work of three high impact areas: economic security, health and safety, and equal representation. Helping to create change in these areas is key to achieving true gender equality and an equal future for all.
Mary designed and led ground-breaking community engagement initiatives, such as the Purple Sage Project and Our Watermark Australia, an exceptional example of a nationwide, community engagement project based around issues of water sustainability and the conversational model of ‘Kitchen Table Conversations’ as a key part of community engagement.
In June 2012, Mary was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia, for her distinguished services to public policy and advocacy for the advancement of women.
That same year, Mary authored A Switch In Time – Restoring Respect to Australian Politics which has been distributed widely across Australia.
This year, all Australians will be asked to vote in a referendum to enshrine a First Nations Voice to Parliament in our national constitution.
Today, we are speaking to Mary about her involvement in the Kitchen Table Conversation Model, and in particular, the ‘Together, Yes’ movement as part of the nationwide recruitment of conversation hosts.
