Three times, Paul mentions the Word, mystery in this passage. He states that the mystery, previously unknown to other generations, has now been made know, that God was redeeming the Gentiles in Christ and uniting the Jews and Gentiles in one body (Ephesians 2:11-22). Paul himself was a prisoner because he was captive to the will of God to proclaim the "unfathomable riches in Christ" to the Gentiles. In this sermon, Pastor Josh encourages you to be captive to the will of Christ, and to press on with confidence in Christ!
When you turn on the news, or open up social media, the world is filled with so much division and hostility. When people look at the church, they should see a very different community, that compels them to want to know what its all about. In Ephesians 2:11-22, we see that the gospel not only saves us, but unites us together in one body.
Do you ever not know what to pray? Do you ever struggle with moving beyond generic prayers, or only praying for sickness and surgeries? We ought to pray for those things, but Paul gives us a picture of a deeper prayer that we ought to pray for one another within the body of Christ.
We have received every spiritual blessing in Christ that God has lavished upon us. These spiritual blessings are meant to lead us to praise him for his glorious grace!
