In the continuation of that discussion, we are going to talk about small Edits we can make to our daily lives to help mitigate stress and self-sabotaging to our mind, body, and soul.

Hey there! Being a woman is quite the adventure, isn't it? Everything seems to fall on a spectrum, especially emotions – swinging from caring too much to not caring at all. Today, let's explore the repercussions of not being honest and vulnerable about how we truly feel.

I'll be honest; I used to roll my eyes at the idea of women wanting more vulnerability in their lives. Looking back, I get it now. It wasn't judgment; it was my own insecurities kicking in. Vulnerability felt like exposing myself in uncomfortable ways. So, in this episode we are going to dive deep into vulnerability and having the courage to show up as your real, imperfect self.

In a study I read, 46 percent of those surveyed stated that they had trouble relaxing...not just in general, during planned times dedicated to rest, like a vacation or the weekend. So, WHY is this??? This week I want to talk about relaxation and why it can be hard for high achieving women to practice. Here are a few takeaways from this weeks episode:

Takeaways:

  • Deep breathing activates the calming part of our brain. Don’t forget to breathe!
  • Relaxing is just another thing to learn.
  • Relaxing brings fulfillment and peace
  • Be aware of what relaxation needs to look like for the season you’re in.
  • What is triggered within you when you hear the word “relax”?
  • CREATE a strategy to transition home

It's Valentine's Day this week, so let's be honest, sex is a great topic to discuss on this podcast episode.  Don't worry, it's totally PG! My friend @actressmiraclesims shares why she started her YouTube Channel- God, Sex, & Love and normalizes that there are a lot of high-achieving women out there that have high sex-drives... single and married!!!

As Christians, sex within a marriage is something to be honored! That wasn't always the case for my story unfortunately, so we talk all about what we learned and how it brought us closer to God!

I figured it was high time that I shared with you my story. I want to share my story with you to relate to women who may be experiencing, or are currently wrestling with, similar situations. Fortunately, it is through my journey that I developed the skills and tools I now use to help other women make small edits in their lives today. Here are a few takeaways from my story and lets make today, a great day!

Takeaway:
- When God tells you to change the plans, change the plans.

  • Our stories are a compilation of memories, insights, of reflections

  • I didn’t expect to get married, have kids, or start my own business.

  • There was organized chaos I needed to make sense of.

  • When you’re constantly pleasing other people, it can make you feel misaligned with yourself.

-Sometimes God is calling us to do things different. To look different. To sound different.

  • Be aware of when it becomes easier to receive the instant gratification of someone else’s praise rather than doing what God is calling you to do.
  • I didn’t know how to communicate how I was feeling, because I would stuff it and then it would come out in inappropriate ways
  • I felt like I was always messing up, always behind, You can’t please everyone, therefore I always felt like I was never good enough and
  • Some people take advantage of other people’s vulnerabilities, which is what happened to me, so I learned over time, to not show my vulnerability because it will be used against me.

Focus is when we have a clear idea of where we're directing our attention. It's a point of concentration. Kind of like when you're balancing on one leg, you typically want to keep your eyes on one spot ahead of you.

The same is true for life. In order to have balance, you need to be focusing on something in front of you that is important. To take your eyes off of it is going to get you off balance, and this is typically when we fall or stop working towards that goal. So, this week I am going to be talking about what high achieving women do to help them reach their goals. Let's make today, a great day!

Take-Aways:

  • Our brain doesn't want to work harder than it has to, so the clearer the goal, the easier the brain can understand what needs to be done.
  • You control your thoughts.
  • Anyone can get excited about an idea, it takes a plan to make it happen.

In this weeks episode, I want to address some of the truths that women face and deal with working in a mans world. Working in the criminal justice system I have experience and observed many of these, but they are not just present in the prison system they can be found in politics, law, engineering, ect.  I am only looking to call things for what they are and validate women and their experience, ensuring them that they are not alone. So let's get started and make today a great day!

I've been taking more group workout classes at the gym to keep me motivated and something I heard jumped out at me in a NEW WAY. It's that building physical balance requires repetition and practice regularly. Physical Balance requires practice. And this is sooo true. When I first started yoga, I was falling all over the place, but the more I did weight lifting, added cardio and practiced the different poses, the more solid and secure I was. This week, I am talking about why life balance is important, and what small edits we can make to ensure balance between the different roles we have. So, let's get started and make today a great day!

Take-aways from this weeks episode:

-Life balance is when the distribution of life's responsibilities are in reasonable proportion for the season we're in.

-Complete balance 100% of the time is impossible, because we're always growing and evolving with the seasons of life

-We get to determine what Life-Balance looks like for our life.

In this weeks episode, I want to give you some tools on how to embrace rest and incorporate it into your life. I'm all about making small edits in life to move me forward, so here are seven edits you can consider when deciding if you're going to allow yourself to rest.

A few highlights from this weeks episode:

The other week, I had the honor to teach a lesson at my ladies bible study and this week I wanted to bring it to you. It's a story that many may be familiar with, Jesus and the Samaritan woman at the well. However, I wanted to take a deeper study into the differences between Living Water and the World's Water. Here are a few quick take aways from my talk:

Takeaways:

  • We have to drink from somewhere- Figure out if you are drinking the Living water or the world’s water.
  • You have to choose to drink the Living Water- it requires cooperation and surrender
  • The Spirit shifts my perspective from what I can do, to what God can do.

Quotes:

  • Your breaking isn’t for you to stay broken, it’s for you to experience a true transformational breakthrough, that only the Spirit can do.
  • We must have the courage to face our struggles that distract us from choosing to drink the Living, water of life.
  • The fact that you were created means you have value

This episode's topic is one of the harder ones. Our world is filled with controversy and knowing what we believe is so important in informing how we navigate those hard situations and conversations. Unfortunately, we often don't know where to even start with sorting out our complex feelings on various topics. That is where I want to help, the where do I even start. I am going to go over six edits (aka steps) to help educate yourself and guide you with forming your views and beliefs. Below are a few takeaways and quotes to give a bit of a preview into the episode:

Takeaways:

  • Know what you believe, otherwise you’ll be easily persuaded.
  • Be intentional about researching topics that you may have to take a stand on, so you’re not blind-sighted.
  • We can choose to be respectful and agree to disagree on our point of view.

Quotes:

“There’s been times in my life where I’ve needed to take a stand, and I didn’t always do it correctly or the way I wanted because I wasn’t prepared.”

“I think it is important that we empower ourselves and be intentional with figuring out what we believe.”

“As a Christian I value life, but I also see the complexity of abortion.”

I find myself getting in my own way a lot of the time when I'm building self-trust. Self-trust is deeper than doing what you say you're going to do. Yes, doing what we say we're going to do is very important, but we live in a fallen world, so life throws curve balls at us, and if the only measurement of our success was doing everything we planned, we'd be frustrated. This week we are going to cover eight exercises to help build up our self trust.

We live in a fast paced world and it's so easy to not pay attention to what our bodies are telling us. If you're anything like me, you can mentally handle things (or think you can) until your BODY tells you, that you can't. For so many years I would ignore what my body was communicating to me and eventually I've learned that my body cannot be an after-thought. So this week I am going to be discussing energy drainers and gainers. Both are important in learning what is best for the healthy function of our bodies so we can show up for ourselves and those in our lives.

Efficiency is something I have always prided myself on, however being efficient can warp your brain to think that everything should happen quickly, be well-organized and orderly, which unfortunately is not reality. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about creating order and being organized, but I also know that it isn't always possible, especially not quickly. Messiness and slowness are part of the process and that's okay, we're only human. So,this week, I am going to be talking how the drug of efficiency has impacted areas of my life such as parenting, heath and nutrition, and personal development as a few examples.

Have you ever realized that there's certain words that make you cringe or trigger you? One word that I've found has a negative connotation is the word "change".

There's two reasons:

  1. It seems to imply that the thing you're changing was bad, or not good enough. Wanting to change something in our life can be really hard, because it feels like it requires a lot of effort and that your life wasn't good enough before.
  2. Another reason is that there's this mindset of "I don't like Change". It's almost a belief that they've put on WHO they are, that their identity doesn't like change.

This is why The Life Edit was created, to explore WHO you are, What you WANT, and HOW you get it, so that through small edits you can get big results.  Make sure to come back over the next couple of weeks as I continue to do a deep dive into what it means to make edits to your life so you can create the life you want and are able to step into your fullest God-given potential.

Many times we get to hard places in life because of our own thinking...which is good news, because we can ultimately control our thoughts! It takes practice and intentional effort but when we fully own responsibility of our brain, we will experience results...this is similar to wanting to edit our physical health and fitness. So this week I am going to be talking about our mental fitness and how inaccurate thoughts, when repeated, can turn into false beliefs.

This week I am talking about the different roles we can take in our relationships with our partner. For example, my husband and I tend to operate at two different speeds. He dreams BIG and moves quickly. While I am more of a processor, taking my time to weigh the pros and cons. Neither of these characteristics is better or worse than the other, in fact, those are qualities that I find fascinating about my husband. However, it does act as a reminder that 1) We serve different purposes in our relationship and 2) That we have different speeds our "best" self operates in.  I'm in the details, he's the visionary. When you reflect on your relationship, which are you? Again, both are valued and necessary!

So, however you want to classify your next trip, here are some small edits to consider to make your vacation amazing and not feel like you have to recover after it.

Edit 1: Enjoy the planning process

Edit 2: Enjoy the small things

Edit 3: Don't work or put pressure on yourself to perform at your highest standard...at all

Hello! Today we're going to talk about the 3 tips to handle life when life feels cray-cray. Between moving every year and a half, hosting, people in our home throughout the year, traveling, kids' activities, kids' homework, my personal goals, my work goals, keeping my relationship with my husband healthy, having quality time with my kids, connecting with friends, making time to call my parents, cleaning, and cooking- life can feel cray cray. It seems like there's fewer times where life is calm and uncomplicated than when it's filled with new adventures. For example, my dad was visiting us this past week then because of past health issues, he's needing to live with us for awhile. This is all happening while I'm in the process of selling my house and looking for another. So, when I share the tips on how to handle life when it feels cray-cray, these are actual strategies I use to keep my sanity.

Rest- self care (things you do only for you) and get a minimum of 7.5 hours of sleep each night.

Reprioritize- decide which things to say yes and no to, choose the ONE thing, and keep important things scheduled into your day.

Relationships- check in with the important relationships, we don't operate in a bubble, if your life is crazy, so is everyone else's.

This week's episode is all about mindsets. Particularly ones that we may have that affect balance in our everyday lives and encourages chaos. These mindsets include (1) I can do it all (2) My limiting beliefs don't affect me (3) I don't like being uncomfortable (4) I can hang out with Karen (or others who drain us) she doesn't bother me and (5) I don't need rest. All of these mindsets affect the balance of our everyday lives and making little edits to even one of them can have a big impact.

This week I am excited to introduce my new friend, Christian Business Strategist and speaker, Elise Smith! This week we are talking about internal Dream Stealers and ways to combat them.

"We are all familiar with that negative voice in our head telling us we aren't good enough, we will never succeed, and that we should just give up. I call that voice our Inner Dream Stealer because if we listen to it’s lies it really will steal away all of our dreams. Learn to overcome that fear, doubt, and anxiety by learning the keys to conquering your Inner Dream Stealer to gain more confidence in yourself, trust the path you are on, and grow your business."

Here are a few key takeaways:

  • Identify how and when your Inner Dream Stealer attacks you
  • Realize who that Inner Dream Stealer is to you
  • Learn and implement tools to overcome that voice of negativity
  • Be equipped with a plan to conquer that voice the next time you hear it's whispers

Happy Valentines Day everyone! I wanted to talk to you today about how God is Love. I chose this specific topic for today because recently I wanted to challenge myself to understand God's love FOR ME, because honestly, I don't fully get it. I still have a disconnect between my head and my heart on this... and that's where my faith really has to step in and fill the gap. Today we will be going over 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, which list all the things that love IS, and since God is love he also takes on these qualities. Here is a quick list of how God is love and some questions to ask yourself to help guide your journey to discovering more about God and yourself.

God suffers long and is kind.

· How has God shown you patience and kindness in your life?

God does not envy.

· What have you become more obsessed with, above loving God?

· What do you need to do so He will not be jealous anymore in this area?

God does not parade Himself; He is not puffed up.

· What about God’s relatable-ness inspires you?

God does not behave rudely.

· On the days that you feel dirty and like a hot mess, do you avoid God for fear that he’ll be rude and tell you to get your act together or believe that He’ll always respond sweetly?

God does not seek His own.

· What do you think about Jesus being willing to give up everything for you?

· Are you willing to give up everything for Him?

God is not provoked.

· What would you ask of God if you truly believed he wouldn’t be irritated with you for asking him?

God thinks no evil.

· In what surprising ways has God showed up for you in your life that proves that He doesn’t condemn you?

God does not rejoice in iniquity; He rejoices in the truth.

· How has God showed up in your life that has given you the boldness to walk in truth and freedom?

God bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

· What do you know about God, that assures you it is impossible to scare God away?

God never fails.

· How has God showed up for you in your life, that assures you that he will never fail you?

Today we're going to talk about how to stay focused on your goals in 2022, which is fitting since this is the first podcast of 2022! Wahoo! When I was coming up with LAST week's content of 3 Surprising Ways to Edit Your Life For Results that don't suck in 2022...I was inspired to go deeper into the first edit I suggested, which was "Remind Yourself of Your Goal-DAILY". Today we are going to talk about INTERNAL (limiting beliefs, new unnecessary ideas, and anxious thoughts) and EXTERNAL (physical discomfort, children, and phones) shiny squirrels that can put up barriers preventing us from staying focused and motivated on our goals.

So, here's the deal. As a Life Coach, what I actually do is boiled down to helping people create order in their life. Why do I focus so heavily on creating order?? Well, two reasons: The first reason is that order CREATES freedom, abundance, and purpose! And the second reason , it's biblical. In Genesis, the very first book of the bible, starts off by God creating everything in an ordered way. Although life can feel chaotic, God is not chaotic. He is orderly and intentional. Let's think about it. He created everything in 7 days...yes, I say 7 and not 6,  because God created rest too, which is what he did on the 7th DAY. It wasn't an afterthought, it's part of the entire creation process. Here are three highlights from this episode that show how God's creation of the earth and universe can help us create order in our everyday lives.

1.)We HAVE to do what we say we're going to do. This builds trust with ourselves, others, and most importantly God.

2.) Strategy and Momentum both contribute to the magnitude and direction of the end goal.

3.) If God, THE most important, productive, efficient, and goal driven person RESTED, so can we!
