Los cumaneses somos todos hermanos, el tipo de persona a la que le puedes tocar la puerta a cualquier hora y con mucho gusto te va a recibir y ofrecerte una taza de café, dispuesto a escuchar tus problemas y hasta a ofrecerte soluciones.
La primogénita del continente, mi ciudad natal, me ha enseñado que no importa lo pequeño que seas, eso no define tu valor. Cumaná es una ciudad pequeña, pero valiosa!
Como en todas partes, tiene sus cosas chimbas, y si somos parte de esas cosas los invito a mirar hacia adentro, y empezar a mejorarla desde allí! Cumaná merece mucho!

El coro de la iglesia al que pertenezco cumplió 20 años este domingo, e hicimos un gran concierto y un compartir al terminar para celebrarlo!
Desde que comenzó el año nuestro director escogió unas cuantas piezas nuevas para añadir a nuestro repertorio sacro y presentarlas por primera vez en nuestro aniversario, que cae en la solemnidad de Cristo Rey. Así que pasamos todo este año estudiando piezas como el Gloria de Haydn y el Ave María de Biebl.
Tuvimos nuestros altos y bajos, pero al llegar el día, estabamos todos unidos y listos para dar lo mejor de nosotros!
El sábado antes del gran día, nos reunimos para repasar los temas y algunos nos quedamos hasta tarde para ayudar a decorar el comedor con globos, cortinas, etc.
El director mandó a hacer unas batolas para las mujeres con el logo de la agrupación timbrado en ellas, y debo decir que pensé que nos daría mucho calor, pero es que la tela era tan suave que realmente tenerla puesta se sentía como un abrazo.
Llegamos a las dos para vocalizar, organizarnos con las batolas, llevar todo lo que necesitaríamos al templo, y a las 5pm comenzó la misa y ya todos estabamos listos!
El profesor también llevó a lagunos músicos: un cellista, 3 violinistas y un flautista.
Para la canción interleccional cantamos el Laudate Dominum y yo hice el solo. Acá les dejo el video para que vean como nos salió.
A mi me gustó muchísimo como salieron todos los temas! Y además, me sentía muy bien cantando con todos mis compañeros, a pesar de que la mayoría son mucho más grandes que yo, siento como si fueran mis amigos. Son muy agradables.
Al terminar, nos aplaudieron, nos tomamos muchas fotos y nos fuimos al comedor a compartir!
Fue una noche muy linda, todos estabamos muy felices, orgullosos de pertenecer a Ecalisja, y orgullosos de nuestro director quien ha estado desde el principio!

Hello, Dear Hivers!
The church choir I belong to turned 20 this past Sunday, and we had a big concert and a get-together afterward to celebrate!
Since the beginning of the year, our director chose a few new pieces to add to our sacred repertoire and perform for the first time on our anniversary, which falls on the Solemnity of Christ the King. So we spent the whole year studying pieces like Haydn's Gloria and Biebl's Ave Maria.
We had our ups and downs, but when the day arrived, we were all united and ready to give it our all!
The Saturday before the big day, we met to review the pieces, and some of us stayed late to help decorate the dining hall with balloons, curtains, and so on.
The director had some gowns made for the women with the choir's logo emblazoned on them, and I must say I thought we'd get really hot, but the fabric was so soft that wearing them felt like a hug.
We arrived at 2:00 PM to warm up our voices, get our robes ready, and gather everything we would need for the church. Mass began at 5:00 PM, and we were all set!
The teacher also brought some musicians: a cellist, three violinists, and a flautist.
For the intercessory song, we sang Laudate Dominum, and I sang the solo. Here's a video so you can see how it went.
I really enjoyed how all the songs turned out! And I felt so good singing with all my classmates, even though most of them are much older than me. I feel like they're my friends. They're so nice.
When we finished, they applauded us, we took lots of pictures, and then we went to the dining hall to socialize!
It was a beautiful evening. We were all so happy and proud to be part of Ecalisja, and proud of our director, who has been with us from the beginning!

Hace poco escuché esta canción de @healingplaceworship, se llama "Waiting" y además de hermosa me parece que tiene una letra muy reflexiva.
A mi me pasa que a la hora de esperar resultados en mi vida o en mi trabajo me desespero mucho, pero con la frase "Si estoy esperando, Dios se está moviendo" esta canción le dió un giro de 180° a mi manera de ver el tiempo de espera.
Las cosas buenas siempre necesitan tiempo para formarse correctamente, es como dice el dicho "lo mejor se hace esperar", y siempre lo decimos en modo de broma pero es muy cierto!
Espero que si estás esperando los resultados de algo importante para ti, este video te ayude a relajarte y disfrutar del proceso mientras Diosito trabaja. Confía en él! ✨

I recently listened to this song by @healingplaceworship, it's called "Waiting," and besides being beautiful, I think it has very reflective lyrics.
I often get very impatient when waiting for results in my life or at work, but with the line "If I'm waiting, God is moving," this song completely changed my perspective on waiting.
Good things always need time to develop properly; it's like the saying goes, "the best things come to those who wait," and we always say it jokingly, but it's so true!
I hope that if you're waiting for the results of something important to you, this video helps you relax and enjoy the process while God works. Trust in Him! ✨

Hoy les traigo el cuento del Cumaná Siempre Arriba 4!
Después de muchos meses de práctica, llegó el día en el que volvería a los escenarios después de mucho tiempo. Estaba súper nerviosa, pero lista para hacerlo!
Nos levantamos muy temprano, y después de echarle una visitada a mi abuela, empezamos a arreglarnos para el show!
Una vez listas nos fuimos directo al teatro Luis Mariano Rivera y yo entré a probar sonido.
Tal como lo pedí, me dieron dos micrófonos balita inalámbricos, sin embargo hay un tema que no tomé en consideración a la hora de hacer la coreografía.
Normalmente estos micrófonos traen una cosa que se engancha a la ropa, pero como en muchos momentos yo iba a dejar el violín puesto en un lugar mientras bailaba, eso no nos iba a funcionar.
Después de un momento de crisis se me ocurrió una idea maravillosa! Peligrosa, pero maravillosa.
Pegamos la cosa en la parte de atras del violín con cinta adhesiva.
Después de probar nuestra idea con muchos saltos y giros, empezó el show!
Salí para entrar por donde entraban todos los invitados y me senté entre público con los nervios a flor de piel.
Vi muchas categorías, presentadores, artistas, personas conocidas y también conocí a muchas más. Todos maravillosos! Hasta que una de las presentadoras me vino a buscar porque ya era hora de ir al backstage y prepararme para el show.
Me quité la camisa de arriba para revelar un top de lentejuelas y unos guantes, afiné mi violín, probé nuevamente los micrófonos, y lista! Al escenario!
En el escenario todo sucedió muy rápido! Siento que desde que me coloqué en mi pose inicial hasta cuando terminé solo pasaron segundos, aunque segundos muy divertidos, disfruté mucho la presentación. Creo que lo bueno de haber practicado tanto y estar segura de lo que iba a hacer me ayudó mucho con los nervios, es como si el cuerpo actuara solo. Fue genial!
Después de que me presenté, anunciaron la categoría en la que uno de mis amigos estaba nominado, y lo nombraron ganador! Muy merecido el premio, felicidades Jean!
Luego me fui a comer mi refrigerio, y volví al público.
Pasaron muchas categorías más, hasta que llegó Notas Vitales...
Desde que se montaron los presentadores encargados de esa categoría ya tenía lágrimas en los ojos. Estar nominada ya me llenaba de mucho orgullo, pero lo que llegó después... superó todas mis expectativas.
Ganamos!
Que feliz y que agradecida me siento por haber vivido ese momento tan especial!
Primero, agradecida con Dios por bendecirme con este don, el don de la música, y por darme la fortaleza y voluntad de desarrollarlo y mantenerlo aún es los momentos más difíciles.
Segundo, agradecida con ustedes por ayudarme a Ilegar hasta acá! Y no solo me refiero a los votos que nos hicieron merecedores de este galardón, sino también a todo el apoyo que me brindaron en esta lucha por la vida.

Today I bring you the story of Cumaná Siempre Arriba 4!
After many months of practice, the day finally arrived when I would return to the stage after a long time. I was super nervous, but ready to do it!
We got up very early, and after paying a visit to my grandmother, we started getting ready for the show!
Once we were ready, we went straight to the Luis Mariano Rivera Theater, and I went in to do a sound check.
Just as I requested, they gave me two wireless bullet microphones; however, there was one thing I hadn't considered when creating the choreography.
Normally, these microphones have something that attaches to clothing, but since I was going to leave the violin in place while dancing at many points, that wasn't going to work.
After a moment of crisis, I had a wonderful idea! Dangerous, but wonderful.
We attached the thing to the back of the violin with tape.
After testing out our idea with lots of jumps and turns, the show began!
I went outside through the same entrance as all the guests and sat among the audience, my nerves on edge.
I saw many categories, presenters, artists, and well-known people, and I also met many more. Everyone was wonderful! Then one of the presenters came to get me because it was time to go backstage and get ready for the show.
I took off my top to reveal a sequined top and gloves, tuned my violin, tested the microphones again, and I was ready! On stage!
On stage, everything happened so fast! It feels like only seconds passed from the moment I struck my initial pose until I finished, but they were incredibly fun seconds. I really enjoyed the performance. I think the fact that I had practiced so much and was confident in what I was going to do helped me a lot with my nerves; it was like my body was acting on its own. It was great!
After I introduced myself, they announced the category in which one of my friends was nominated, and he was named the winner! A well-deserved award, congratulations Jean!
Then I went to eat my snack and returned to the audience.
Many more categories were presented until it was time for Vital Notes... From the moment the presenters for that category took the stage, I already had tears in my eyes. Being nominated already filled me with immense pride, but what came next... exceeded all my expectations.
We won!
I am so happy and grateful to have experienced such a special moment!
First, I am grateful to God for blessing me with this gift, the gift of music, and for giving me the strength and will to develop and maintain it even in the most difficult times.
Second, I am grateful to all of you for helping me get here! And I'm not just referring to the votes that made us worthy of this award, but also to all the support you gave me in this fight for life.

Bienvenidos a Margarita pt. 2!
Resumiendo un poco los hechos mencionados en el post pasado: La Sociedad Venezolana de Medicina Interna me invitó a un congreso nacional de residentes que se llevaría a cabo en la isla de Margarita para que amenizara una de sus actividades.
Después de tomar el avión, quedar fascinada con la isla, con el hotel donde nos hospedaríamos, y de practicar con mi cuatrista acompañante (que era uno de los doctores miembros de la sociedad), llegó la hora de la presentación!
La actividad se llamaba "Regiones y Sonidos de Venezuela". Cada residente perteneciente de cierta región del país se reuniría con otros residentes de la misma región para crear una pequeña exposisión y hablar sobre ella.
Mi papel en esta actividad era tocar y cantar piezas musicales pertenecientes a esas regiones para que cada residente se sintiera identificado y feliz!
Junto con mi compañero musical, el Dr. Gener Marena, decidimos tocar el siguiente repertorio:
Para comenzar con un tema animado y conocido por todos los venezolanos decidimos tocar el tema de Hugo Blanco "Moliendo Café".
A demás, qué mejor manera de comenzar esa noche como todos los cenezolanos comenzamos nuestros días? Con café.
Luego tocamos "Viajera del Río", un tema inspirado en el río orinoco de la región Guayana.
Más adelante tocamos otro tema perteneciente a esa región, éste llamado "Guayana Es".
Luego nos fuimos a la región de Los Llanos con la tonada "La Paraulata Llanera". A la gente le gustó mucho esa, y yo particularmente disfruté mucho cantarla.
Después cantamos.uno de mis temas favoritos: "Oriente es Otro Color".
Como oriental, esa canción me hace sentir muy feliz e identificada! A demás de que la música como tal me relaja mucho. Es una canción fantástica.
Luego mi compañero cantó unos temas solo, como "El Espanto", "Amparito", y entre los dos cantamos "La negra del Tamunangue" con ayuda del público en la percusión. Con esos temas representamos La Region Zuliana y Formación Lara-Falcón.
Después él se retiró y yo canté dos temas sola: "Cerro el Ávila" en representación del Distrito Capital y "Flor de Durazno" en representación de la Region Andina.
Flor de Durazno es uno de los temas favoritos de mi tía Mariflor, así que con mucho gusto me lo aprendí y se lo canté.
Ahora, debo mencionar que "Cerro el Ávila" es un tema que mi papá que estaba pidiendo desde hace un tiempo ya, así que ese es que que les traigo el día de hoy! Espero que lo disfruten.

Welcome to Margarita pt. 2!
To briefly summarize the events mentioned in the last post: The Venezuelan Society of Internal Medicine invited me to a national residents' congress to be held on Margarita Island to provide entertainment for one of their activities.
After boarding the plane, being captivated by the island and the hotel where we would be staying, and practicing with my cuatro accompanist (who was one of the doctors and members of the society), it was time for the presentation!
The activity was called "Regions and Sounds of Venezuela." Each resident from a specific region of the country would meet with other residents from the same region to create a small exhibit and discuss it.
My role in this activity was to play and sing musical pieces from those regions so that each resident would feel connected and happy!
Together with my musical partner, Dr. Gener Marena, we decided to play the following repertoire:
To start with a lively song familiar to all Venezuelans, we chose Hugo Blanco's "Moliendo Café" (Grinding Coffee).
Besides, what better way to begin the evening than how all Venezuelans start their days? With coffee.
Next, we played "Viajera del Río" (River Traveler), a song inspired by the Orinoco River in the Guayana region.
Later, we played another song from that region, called "Guayana Es" (Guayana Is).
Then we went to the Llanos region with the tune "La Paraulata Llanera" (The Plains Warbler). The audience really liked it, and I particularly enjoyed singing it.
Afterward, we sang one of my favorite songs: "Oriente es Otro Color" (Eastern Venezuela is Another Color).
As someone from eastern Venezuela, that song makes me feel very happy and connected to it! Plus, music in general is very relaxing. It's a fantastic song.
Then my partner sang a few songs solo, like "El Espanto" and "Amparito," and together we sang "La Negra del Tamunangue" with the audience joining in on percussion. With those songs, we represented the Zulia Region and the Lara-Falcón region.
Afterward, he left, and I sang two songs solo: "Cerro el Ávila" representing the Capital District and "Flor de Durazno" representing the Andean Region.
"Flor de Durazno" is one of my Aunt Mariflor's favorite songs, so I happily learned it and sang it for her.
Now, I should mention that "Cerro el Ávila" is a song my dad had been requesting for a while, so that's the one I'm sharing with you today! I hope you enjoy it.

El domingo en medio de una videollamada se nos ocurrió hacer un videito juntas. Nos pusimos a buscar canciones y dimos con "Chiquitita" de ABBA, que nos pareció la mejor opción, así que nos pusimos manos a la obra!
Este tema estuvo muy presente en mi infacia, mi mamá me cuenta que lo cantaba mucho, y cómo no si nunca faltaba en la playlist de radio 2000, jejeje.

Hoy les traigo el cuento de mi primera vez dirigiendo un coro, y no en una sala de ensayo!
Desde que mi mamá y yo empezamos a ir a la iglesia, estuvimos paseando por diferentes horarios, hasta que fuimos a la misa de las 5pm y conocimos al coro encargado de cantar: Ecalisja.
Es más común ver coros cantando canciones populares, como pescador de hombres por ejemplo, sin embargo este coro estaba cantando música sacra en latin!
Eso me recordó mucho a mi coro de Cumaná, me puse muy nostálgica.
En ese momento no me acerqué ni nada, pero en la misa siguiente, no pude evitarlo!
Me acerqué a saludar y a pedir información sobre cómo entrar, y el director muy amablemente me invitó a asistir a su ensayo del próximo domingo, al cual asistí, y así poco a poco me fui integrando al coro.
Hace una semana la Ecalisja se fue de viaje a Barquisimeto, Lara. Les fue muy bien gracias a Dios, pero como yo no pude viajar, me pregunté cómo sería la movida ese domingo, ya que muchos de nuestros compañeros ni el director estarían.
Al expresar esta duda, el director me confió los pocos integrantes que no podían viajar y me asignó un repertorio para llevar a cabo la misa... como directora.
Estaba muy nerviosa!
Ese día solo fui yo y otras dos compañeras. Hicimos algo sencillo, pero a la gente le gustó! Yo quedé un poco angustiada porque tuvimos unos percances, pero Dios me dió otra oportunidad para hacerlo mejor!
Este domingo, el director estaba de cumpleaños, y dudaba poder asistir ya que su familia estaba planeando una pequeña celebración, así que días antes me llamó y me preguntó si una vez más podía dirigir el coro. Yo le dije que si, nerviosa pero dispuesta a cumplir con Dios y con la agrupación!
Así que el domingo me fui temprano a la iglesia, y poco a poco iban llegando mis compañeros. Juntos decimos entre las opciones de repertorio que nos había mandado el director, practicamos cómo daría los tonos a cada cuerda y en qué momentos de la misa nos tocaba cantar, y a la hora, entramos al templo.
Hicimos el canto de entrada, y después del Kyrie y el Gloria, ya me bajaron los nervios y disfruté mucho de la dirección, la música y de la misa.
Todos mis compañeros fueron muy buenos conmigo, me ayudaron a hacer las cosas bien y me apoyaron mucho! Eso fue muy importante para mi.

Today I'm sharing the story of my first time leading a choir, and not in a rehearsal room!
Since my mom and I started going to church, we tried different mass times, until we went to the 5pm mass and met the choir that sang: Ecalisja.
It's more common to see choirs singing popular songs, like "Fisherman of Men," for example, however this choir was singing sacred music in Latin!
It reminded me a lot of my choir in Cumaná; I got very nostalgic.
At that moment I didn't approach them or anything, but at the next mass, I couldn't resist!
I went over to say hello and ask about joining, and the director very kindly invited me to attend their next Sunday rehearsal, which I did, and little by little I became part of the choir.
A week ago, Ecalisja went on a trip to Barquisimeto, Lara. They did very well, thank God, but since I couldn't travel, I wondered what would happen that Sunday, since many of our members and the director wouldn't be there.
When I expressed this concern, the director entrusted me with the few members who couldn't travel and assigned me a repertoire to lead during mass... as the director.
I was very nervous!
That day it was just me and two other members. We did something simple, but people liked it! I was a little worried because we had some mishaps, but God gave me another opportunity to do better!
This past Sunday, the director's birthday was, and he wasn't sure he could attend since his family was planning a small celebration, so a few days before he called me and asked if I could lead the choir again. I told him yes, nervous but willing to serve God and the group!
So on Sunday I went to church early, and my choir members arrived little by little. Together we chose from the repertoire options the director had sent us, we practiced how to cue each vocal section, and at what points during mass we would sing, and at the appointed time, we entered the church. We sang the entrance hymn, and after the Kyrie and Gloria, my nerves calmed down and I really enjoyed the music, the service, and the overall atmosphere. All my fellow singers were so kind to me; they helped me do everything right and supported me so much! That was very important to me.

Hoy les traigo un cover naturalito.
Ultimamente me he estado esforzando en traer covers con audio y video de calidad.
Para lograr eso, normalmente grabo el audio primero, enfocandome en cada nota que canto, en la afinación, letra, etc. Y luego grabo el video enfocandome en dar una interpretación viva, llena de emoción y movimiento.
En esta ocasión, el momento nació espontaneamente ¿por qué? Siento que la canción lo ameritaba.

Esta canción la escucho desde niña, cuando dependía de las playlist de mi mamá, que gracias a Dios tiene buen gusto. Recuerdo estar en el comedor e imaginar que la cantaba en un concierto, junto a coristas y todo jejeje. Es un recuerdo muy lindo.

Today I'm sharing a more casual cover with you.
Lately, I've been striving to create covers with high-quality audio and video.
To achieve this, I usually record the audio first, focusing on every note I sing, the pitch, the lyrics, etc. Then I record the video, focusing on delivering a lively, emotional, and expressive performance.
This time, the idea came spontaneously. Why? I felt the song deserved it. "I'm Yours" is a super relaxed and spontaneous song, so I wanted to do it justice with a cover that mirrored the song itself: relaxed and spontaneous.
I've been listening to this song since I was a little girl, when I relied on my mom's playlists (thank goodness she has good taste!). I remember being in the dining room and imagining myself singing it at a concert, with backup singers and everything, haha. It's a very sweet memory.

Hace unos meses mi tía Eleida (Lelly), empezó un emprendimiento de sublimación de sueteres tazas, franelas etc.
Y eso no es todo!
Mi tía es una mujer muy talentosa y artística, y por un tiempo una de sus maneras de expresar su arte fue mediante la pintura.
Pintó muchos cuadros, cuya característica era ese toque oriental especial. Peces, loros, frutas, todas llenas de vida y colores.
Ahora para llevar ese arte a otro nivel, decidió sublimarlos en todo tipo de cosas: camisetas, tazas, bolsos, de todo!
Mi mamá le compró una camiseta y un bolso playero de catalana, su pescado favorito, y a parte, mi tía me envió un sueter que fue el primer que hizo como prueba!
Para ser el primero, quedó bellísimo! A mi me encantó.
Y decidí exhibir este arte mediante un lindo video musical que expresara nuestro oriente tan bien como el arte de mi tía. Y qué mejor canción para eso que "Oriente es otro Color"?
Así que me puse manos a la obra a aprenderme la letra y el ritmo, y mi tía, la súper talentosa, me hizo el favor de grabar el cuatro acompañandome!

A few months ago, my aunt Eleida (Lelly) started a sublimation business for sweaters, mugs, T-shirts, etc.
And that's not all!
My aunt is a very talented and artistic woman, and for a time, one of her ways of expressing her art was through painting.
She painted many paintings, each characterized by that special oriental touch. Fish, parrots, fruits, all full of life and color.
Now, to take that art to the next level, she decided to sublimate them on all kinds of things: t-shirts, mugs, bags, everything!
My mom bought her a Catalana t-shirt and beach bag, her favorite fish, and my aunt also sent me a sweater, which was the first one she made as a test!
For the first, it turned out beautiful! I loved it.
And I decided to showcase this art through a beautiful music video that would express our Orient as well as my aunt's art. And what better song for that than "The East is Another Color"?
So I set to work learning the lyrics and the rhythm, and my aunt, the super talented one, did me the favor of recording the cuatro accompanying me!

Hoy tuve un día lindo y diferente!
Hace unas semanas le llegó una invitación al coro de la iglesia en que canto, Ecalisja, para participar en un concierto de música religiosa llamado Ama & Canta.
Dicho concierto fue organizado por el santuario San Judas Tadeo, que queda en Puerta Caracas, así que se llevó a cabo en un pequeño teatro que pertenece al santuario.
Tuve mis dudas de si ir o no, ya que no sabía donde era Puerta Caracas, pero después de que el maestro nos dió las instrucciones sobre como llegar, y nos dimos cuenta de que era cerca, decidí ir, y mis lindos padres me acompañaron.
El maesteo nos había hablado de un bus que pasaba cerca de donde vivimos, y nis dejaba justo frente al santuario, pero pasó un buen rato, y como no pasaba nada, nos fuimos caminando.
La verdad no era tan lejos, pero era todo empinado! Entonces nos cansamos bastante!
Ya cuando me estaba cansando e ibamos a descansar, pasó un bus por nuestro lado y se bajó uno de mis compañeros. Resulta que ya estabamos a una casita de llegar jajaja. Así que bueno, pude con la subida!
Mis padres entraron de una vez al teatro y después de unos minutos, cuando todos los coristas de Ecalisja llegaron, vocalizamos y revisamos una de las piezas que interpretaríamos.
Luego, nos llevaron a un cuartito debajo del escenario para prepararnos para salir, y al salir dimos lo mejor de nosotros.
Cantamos ynas piezas que ya habíamos cantado en nuestras misas normales: el Aleluia de William Boyce, Bendita sea tu pureza, el Agnus Dei de Gounod y el Sactus de Dante Andreo.
Yo la pasé muy bien! Me divertí mucho. Le dieron un reconocimiento al maestro y cuando bajamos del escenario, nos recibieron en un salón con un buen refrigerio, y unos llaveron de recuerdito.
Fue una linda experiencia, ahora aquí les dejo un fragmento de nuestra presentación. Espero que lo disfruten. 🤗

Today I had a lovely and unique day!
A few weeks ago, the choir at the church where I sing, Ecalisja, received an invitation to participate in a religious music concert called Ama & Canta (Love & Sing).
The concert was organized by the San Judas Tadeo shrine, located in Puerta Caracas, so it was held in a small theater belonging to the shrine.
I was hesitant about whether to go or not, since I didn't know where Puerta Caracas was, but after the choir gave us directions and we realized it was close, I decided to go, and my lovely parents accompanied me.
The choirmaster had told us about a bus that passed near where we lived and dropped us off right in front of the shrine, but it took a while, and since nothing was happening, we walked.
Actually, it wasn't that far, but it was all steep! So we got pretty tired!
Just as I was getting tired and were about to take a break, a bus passed by us and one of my classmates got off. It turns out we were just a house away, haha. So, well, I managed the climb!
My parents went straight into the theater, and after a few minutes, when all the Ecalisja choristers arrived, we sang and reviewed one of the pieces we would perform.
Then, they took us to a small room under the stage to get ready to go out, and when we left, we gave it our all.
We sang pieces we had already sung at our regular Masses: William Boyce's Alleluia, Blessed Be Thy Purity, Gounod's Agnus Dei, and Dante Andreo's Sactus.
I had a great time! I had a lot of fun. They gave the maestro a tribute, and when we got off the stage, we were welcomed into a room with some nice refreshments and some souvenir keychains.

Hoy les traigo un coversito flash que hice de una canción muy bonita : I say a little prayer, un himno a la fe y al amor.
Es impresionante cómo siempre hay algo que no conocemos, y más aún cuando ese algo es tan genial!
Se pueden creer que yo no conocía esta canción? La conocí gracias a mi amiga Victoria, quien me recomendó hacerle un cover.
Y bueno, desde que me dejó su comentario empecé a escucharla y a pensar qué podía hacer con ella.
Recordé el cover que hice de "Walk on the Water" de The Chosen, en donde hice varios videos haciendo diferentes voces, y pensé que sería genial hacer lo mismo con esta canción!
Ya tenía pendiente hacer este cover desde hace unas semanas, pero ayer porfin me animé a grabarlo, ya que me puse yn maquillaje que me gustí mucho, y me entusiasme!
Dije: ok, ya tengo el look listo, vamos a ponernos a grabar.
Así que grabé las voces, arreglé el audio, y luego grabé los videos.
Me divertí mucho! Lo hice con amor y entusiasmo, así que el trabajo no fue para nada pesado, y el tiempo pasó rápido (con decirles que terminamos a las 10pm)

Today I'm bringing you a flash cover I did of a beautiful song: I Say a Little Prayer, a hymn to faith and love.
It's amazing how there's always something we don't know, and even more so when that something is so amazing! Can you believe I didn't know this song? I discovered it thanks to my friend Victoria, who recommended I do a cover. And well, ever since she left me her comment, I started listening to it and thinking about what I could do with it.
I remembered the cover I did of "Walk on the Water" by The Chosen, where I made several videos doing different voices, and I thought it would be great to do the same with this song.
I've been meaning to do this cover for a few weeks, but yesterday I finally got the courage to record it, since I put on makeup that I really liked, and I was excited! I said, "Okay, I have the look ready, let's start recording." So I recorded the vocals, arranged the audio, and then shot the videos.
I had a lot of fun! I did it with love and enthusiasm, so the work wasn't hard at all, and the time passed quickly (let's just say we finished at 10 p.m.)

Hoy tuvimos una mañana llena de energía!
Hoy pasamos una mañana deportiva junto a Laboratorios Vargas en conmemoración de su 70 aniversario
Nos enteramos por instagram, y ya que la sociedad de medicina interna, en la cual mi tía Mariflor es la presidenta, estaba involucrada, nos comunicamos con ella y cuadramos para ir y vernos un ratico.
Llegamos un poco tarde para la clase de zumba, ya que de donde vivimos al parque del este el viaje en bus es bastante largo, pero alcanzamos a hacer parte de la clase de salto, y la bailoterapia.
Por qué parte? Pues estaban alquilando unos zapatos extraños especiales para ese tipo de clase, y junto a las señoras mayores, mi alma de señora mayor se activó, y no me atreví. Así que hicimos la mitad saltando con los pies en el suelo jejeje.
Después de eso, mientras venía la bailoterapia, mis padres y yo decidimos pasear un ratito, y ver algunos de los animales que estaban por allí.
Vimos patos, gansos, tortugas, zamuros:/... y unas corocoras hermosas!
También vimos unas guacamayas de lejitos.
Pero mientras pasábamos por el estanque, nos encontramos con un sonido familiar...
Escuchamos la melodía de somewhere over the rainbow tocada por un piano. Al principio me conmovió, pero no me entusiasmé tanto porque pensé aue era una pista... hasta que la gente empezó a aplaudir!
Inmediatamente me invadió un deseo de entrar y pedirle al chico que la volviera a tocar para cantar con él, y después de titubear un rato, así lo hice!
En lo que terminó de tocar la pieza que llevaba a medias me acerqué y le pregunté si podía cantar con él, y él accedió tan emocionado como yo.
Cantamos somewhere over the rainbow, y a la gente le gustó mucho! Me pidieron mi instagram, y alguien que supongo era la dueña del negocio me ofreció algo de tomar.
Pero luego empezó a tocar "Part of your world" de la sirenita, y tuve, TUVE que volver a tomar el micrófono y cantar. Fue maravilloso 💜
Lastimosamente intentamos con otra canción pero no fluyó tan bien como las demás y tuvimos que parar. Pero igual, las dos primeras fueron mágicas!

Al terminar allí, nos fuimos corriendo a la concha acústica, porque ya la bailoterapia había comenzado! Pero para nuestra suerte cuando llegamos, no estaba ni cerca de terminar jejeje.
Allí pasamos mínimo una hora bailando de todo! Salsa, merengue, reggueton del viejo, tambor, DE TODO!
Fue muy divertido! Agarré mucho sol y sudé bastante! Tenía tiempo sin hacer este tipo de actividad física, y me alegró mucho hacerlo hoy!
Además, aprendí cómo se baila el tambor, algo muy importante! Jajajaja.
Estoy muy agradecida con Dios por permitir este día tan lindo, con mi mamá por ser quien tuvo la iniciativa de ir en primer lugar y contigo por leer! 💜
Pd. Hoy termimé la quinta temporada de The Chosen, y lloré mucho. Espero con ansias la sexta.

Today we had an energetic morning!
Today we spent a morning of sports with Laboratorios Vargas in commemoration of their 70th anniversary.
We found out about it on Instagram, and since the Internal Medicine Society, of which my aunt Mariflor is the president, was involved, we contacted her and arranged to go and meet up for a bit.
We arrived a little late for the Zumba class, since the bus ride from where we live to Parque del Este is quite long, but we managed to make it to part of the jumping class and the dance therapy.
Why part? Well, they were renting some strange shoes specifically for that type of class, and with the older ladies, my old-lady soul kicked in, and I didn't dare. So we did half of it jumping with our feet on the ground, hahaha.
After that, while the dance therapy was going on, my parents and I decided to walk around for a while and see some of the animals that were there.
We saw ducks, geese, turtles, vultures... and some beautiful macaws!
We also saw some macaws from a distance.
But as we were passing by the pond, we came across a familiar sound...
We heard the melody of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" played on a piano. At first, I was moved, but I wasn't that excited because I thought it was a clue... until people started clapping!
I immediately felt the urge to go in and ask the guy to play it again so I could sing along, and after some hesitation, I did!
As soon as he finished playing the piece he was halfway through, I approached him and asked if I could sing with him, and he agreed, just as excited as I was.
We sang "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," and the crowd really liked it! They asked for my Instagram account, and someone I assume was the owner of the business offered me something to drink.
But then "Part of Your World" by The Little Mermaid started playing, and I had to, I HAD to go back to the microphone and sing. It was wonderful 💜
Unfortunately, we tried another song, but it didn't flow as well as the others, and we had to stop. But still, the first two were magical!
I hope they contact me to come back!
When we finished there, we ran to the bandshell, because the dance therapy had already started! But luckily for us, when we got there, it wasn't even close to ending, haha.
We spent at least an hour there dancing to everything! Salsa, merengue, old reggaeton, tambor, EVERYTHING!
It was so much fun! I got a lot of sun and sweated a lot! It had been a while since I'd done this type of physical activity, and I was so happy to do it today!
Plus, I learned how to dance the tambor, which is very important! Hahaha.
I'm so grateful to God for allowing this beautiful day, to my mom for being the one who had the initiative to go in the first place, and to you for reading! 💜
P.S. Today I finished the fifth season of The Chosen, and I cried a lot. I'm looking forward to the sixth.

Después de unos meses de preparación, porfin hicimos el recital que más estaba esperando: el de óperas!
En este recital cada quien tenía que escoger 2 arias y al menos un ensamble de alguna ópera para presentarlo en el recital de fin de año escolar, que fue ayer Miércoles 9 de Julio.
Yo escogí una aria de Susanna de las Bodas de Fígaro: "Deh, vieni, non tardar", y de una ópera que me recomendó mi maestro, Rodelinda de Handel, escogí el aria "Ho perduto il caro sposo" y un dueto para soprano y contratenor "Io t'abraccio", para el cual invité a mi compañero Ángel López.
Me gustó mucho trabajar con él porque ambos teníamos ideas parecidas y siempre encontrabamos la manera de ponernos de acuerdo cuando no era así. A demás de que compartimos esas ganas de inventar jajaja, algo que obviamente hicimos jejeje.
Tuve que faltar a los primeros ensayos porque estaba recibiendo tratamiento esos días, así que me sentía un poco insegura con mi trabajo, pero gracias a Dios el maestro repertorista pudo conseguir que ensayaramos un día extra en el que nos enfocamos en varias cosas importantes.
La busqueda del vestuario fue un poco estresante, pero divertida al mismo tiempo.
Mi idea principal era usar negro, ya que el personaje Rodelinda está de luto, y luego solo ponerme un velo para el papel de Susanna, quien estaría por casarse.
Peeero hablando con el maestro coincidimos en que usar negro para la parte de Susanna no era lo ideal, así que buscando ideas en pinterest me encontré con una blusa muy parecida a una que tenía en Cumaná, así que rápidamente le pedí a una amiga el favor de que me la enviara por mrw, y la retiramos dos días antes del concierto.
La falda ya la tenía, solo que muy pequeña.
De un tiempo para acá he ganado más peso del que solía tener, por lo cual mucha de mi ropa ya no me queda, entonces tuvimos que mandar a poner la falda más grande jejeje. La retiramos el martes.
Y bueno, ya el sueter negro y el velo no fueron tan difíciles de conseguir!
La mañana del concierto me levanté muy temprano a maquillarme y a peinarme, para luego ir al banco de sangre a recibir mi pequeña inyección de metotrexate, y de allí tomar un bus que nos dejaría a unas cuadras del conservatorio.
Desafortunadamente había algo de tráfico... pero llegué justo a tiempo!
Vocalicé, me cambié, y lista para el show!
Disfruté mucho el concierto, me divertí como no tienen una idea!
Que feliz me siento de poder hacer esto que tanto amo!

After a few months of preparation, we finally had the recital I'd been looking forward to the most: the opera recital!
For this recital, everyone had to choose two arias and at least one ensemble from an opera to present at the end-of-year recital, which was yesterday, Wednesday, July 9th.
I chose an aria from Susanna's The Marriage of Figaro: "Deh, vieni, non tarda," and from an opera my teacher recommended, Handel's Rodelinda, I chose the aria "Ho perduto il caro sposo" and a duet for soprano and countertenor, "Io t'abraccio," for which I invited my classmate Ángel López.
I really enjoyed working with him because we both had similar ideas and always found a way to agree even when we didn't. Plus, we share that desire to invent, haha, something we obviously did, hehe.
I had to miss the first rehearsals because I was receiving treatment those days, so I felt a little insecure about my job, but thankfully, the repertoire director was able to arrange an extra day for us to rehearse, so we could focus on several important things.
The wardrobe search was a little stressful, but fun at the same time.
My main idea was to wear black, since the character Rodelinda is in mourning, and then just wear a veil for the role of Susanna, who was about to get married.
But, talking with the director, we agreed that wearing black for Susanna's part wasn't ideal. So, searching for ideas on Pinterest, I found a blouse very similar to one I had in Cumaná. I quickly asked a friend to send it to me via MRW, and we picked it up two days before the concert.
I already had the skirt, but it was too small.
I've gained more weight than I used to, so a lot of my clothes don't fit anymore, so we had to have the skirt made bigger, haha. We picked it up on Tuesday.
And well, the black sweater and veil weren't that hard to get!
The morning of the concert, I got up really early to do my makeup and hair, then went to the blood bank to get my little methotrexate injection, and from there, took a bus that would drop us off a few blocks from the conservatory.
Unfortunately, there was some traffic... but I got there just in time!
I sang, changed, and was ready for the show!
I really enjoyed the concert; I had fun like you can't imagine!
I'm so happy to be able to do what I love so much!

After all my friends found out I had been diagnosed with leukemia, they did everything they could to help raise funds for all the medications and medical supplies we needed. They truly played a huge role in this battle against cancer, and I will be eternally grateful to them for that. 🥹
Life's circumstances often put us in learning situations, and on this occasion, I learned that no matter how many bad people we encounter along the way, the good ones always arrive, and they're here to stay! ✨

Este sábado mi mamá, mi primo y yo tuvimos el placer de asistir al tributo a Michael Jackson en el estadio monumental Simón Bolívar!!
Una amiga tuvo el lindo detalle de regalarnos las entradas, y desde que las recibimos estabamos tan emocionadas! Como si fueramos a ver al Michael Jackson real jajaja.
Yo pasé toda la semana pensando en qué ponerme, jejeje.
Al final me puse yn pantalón negro, con un sueter blanco, un blazer negro y unos botimes negros 😍
Y con el pelo rizado y redondo me sentí muy "Don't stop til you get enough".
Al llegar al estadio, tuvimos un pequeño problema con el QR de las entradas, pero gracias a Dios lo resolvimos y pudimos entrar!
Después de participar en algunas de las iniciativas que tenían los sponsor, mi mamá y mi primo se compraron unos perros para cenar, y luego nos fuimos a nuestros asientos.
No estabamos tan lejos como pensé, de hecho, me pareció que nuestros puestos estaban perfectos!!!
Luego de esperar un poco, por fin comenzó el concierto!! Y que emoción sentí 😍😍
Todo fue maravilloso!!
Quede muy impresionada con cada canción, cada vestuario, cada baile, todo!!
Los cantantes tenían una técnica vocal maravillosa y muy disfrutable!
Habían bailarines y un imitador de Michael que hizo un trabajo espléndido!
También había una orquesta y un coro que hicieron que los arreglos de las canciones de Michael cobraran vida! Todo se escuchaba muy parecido a los temas originales. Simplemente impresionante!
Los tres disfrutamos mucho de esa experiencia. Estabamos cantando, bailando en nuestros puestos, gritando, fue muy genial!!
Agradecida con Dios, contigo por leer, y con Michael, por regalarnos esta música tan maravillosa.

This Saturday my mom, my cousin, and I had the pleasure of attending the Michael Jackson tribute at the Simón Bolívar Monumental Stadium!!
A friend was kind enough to give us tickets, and from the moment we received them, we were so excited! As if we were going to see the real Michael Jackson, haha.
I spent the whole week thinking about what to wear, hehe.
In the end, I wore black pants, a white sweater, a black blazer, and some black ankle boots 😍
And with my curly, round hair, I felt very "Don't stop til you get enough."
When we arrived at the stadium, we had a little trouble with the QR code for the tickets, but thankfully we resolved it and were able to get in!
After participating in some of the sponsors' initiatives, my mom and my cousin bought some hot dogs for dinner, and then we went to our seats.
We weren't as far away as I thought; in fact, it seemed like our spots were perfect!
After waiting a bit, the concert finally began! And I was so excited 😍😍
Everything was wonderful!
I was so impressed with every song, every costume, every dance, everything!
The singers had wonderful vocal technique and it was so enjoyable!
There were dancers and a Michael impersonator who did a splendid job!
There was also an orchestra and a choir that made Michael's arrangements of songs come to life! Everything sounded so similar to the originals. Simply breathtaking!
The three of us really enjoyed the experience. We were singing, dancing in our spots, shouting—it was so cool!
Thankful to God, to you for reading, and to Michael, for giving us such wonderful music.

Some weeks ago, a friend of my mom was going to sing live for the first time in a bar near my house, and when she heard about it, she couldn't miss it.
We spent a great time there. The woman sings beautifully! She's got a great technique, and a voice that goes with almost every genre of music. She felt very comfortable singing.
When she finished, she called me to sing something. I didn't want to steal from her spotlight, but they all insisted, so I did it with love.
I sang many songs. In fact, the song of the video was asked by them haha.
It felt really good, and they liked the way I sang.
I had not sung for some time as a solist, so doing it felt like going back to being me. I missed it ☺️

I hadn't heard anything about Quill before, it was thanks to my dad, @hlezama, that I know him now. And even though I don't understand much about that Splinterlands thing, I though this would be a very interesting and funny thing to do. So, here's me trying to sing Quill 's poem with the melody of "Winter Wonderland".

Yesterday I went to the birthday party of the beautiful @andrea.carolina, and it was a very sensitive and lovely experience!
Her cousin, @sofiaquino98, hired me to sing a few songs from the singer Joaquina at Andrea's birthday party. I never heard of Joaquina before, and since she's a new artist It was pretty hard to find the chords and the lyrics of her songs, but thankfully I found them, and my ear helped a bit.
Joaquina is a very talented girl, just like the birthday girl, who sang with me the songs her cousin dedicated her from the distance with so much love!
The first song I sang was "Primer Amor" (first love). A cute ballad that speaks of how a girl feels after losing her first love. Here's the video, I hope you like it!

Hello, Dear Hivers | Hola, Queridos Hivers This afternoon I had a very special visit! A friend of mine, called Rixon (you've probably seen him already in other of my posts) came to my house and we had a very productive afternoon.
It began with a simple chat, he brought me a chocolate, and then he asked me to teach him some stuff about violin, so I did it. Then I brought the cuatro to sing a little bit, but I had the craziest idea:
I was playing a song in the violin and I thought: "how would it sound with the cuatro" then I told him to play some chords to see if they matched, and they did! So after so much practice, and scolds from me hehe, we called my mom to film us, and, in my opinion, it was a total success!!

So...
This was the last song of the night, but I felt like posting it today, hehe
A friend of my mom asked for it, maybe because she liked my cover of it and wanted to hear it live. I pleased her, and felt lucky to be allowed to sing one last song.
The karaoke got stuck in a part, but thankfully it fixed fastly. The best of singing this song was that my friends made second voices in the "Hello from the other siiiide"s and in other parts, which made it a very very special cover and gave the song a special touch!
Even though I messed it up in a little part, I really liked how we sound. I will never forget that day... Or so I hope hahaha.

Hello, Dear Hivers | Hola, Queridos Hivers After watching Hamilton I started feeling a huge admiration for Lin-Manuel Miranda, so I decided to dig a little deeper into his work, and after many searching I found In The Heights. I heard the complete original soundtrack of the Broadway musical and I fell in love with it. Why? Well, besides it's fantastic composition, I am Latina, and hearing the salsa/merengue touches in the pieces, the words in Spanish between the lyrics, and every little latin detail made me feel... There are no words. It's like all the good feelings mixed into one, it was just fantastic, that much that I even watched a pirateada version of the Broadway musical. Then, when I finished the last song YouTube recommended me a trailer of some movie called 'In The Heights' too (I'll give you my opinion about it in another post), and... I nearly died. IT WAS SO GREAT!
For this opportunity I choose to sing "It Won't Be Long Now" because I feel a little identify with that quote. I'm almost graduated and soon, just like Vanessa (the character who sings this song) I feel like it won't be long now for me to fulfill my dreams!
