I am a mother of 8 children and 35 grandchildren. I live in Alberta, Canada. In 2006, I earned a trip to the Dominican Republic. I fell in love with the country. After going back on vacation, we learned of the huge income disparity between travelers and locals. We started helping and the rest is history. I am the founder and Director of the Dominican Starfish Foundation. This was definitely an unexpected turn of events that has blessed my life and the life of thousands of others. Bottom line, I can help you launch, grow, and expand a home-based business. Trust and believe in myself. I had to recognize that I was the highest authority on myself. I knew what I needed, wanted, and valued. I recognized that healthy boundaries allowed me to take better care of myself—emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually. My needs and feelings are as important as other people’s needs and feelings. This was a difficult lesson for me to learn for two reasons. First, the spiritual lessons in my youth expected me to put other people first. Second, modeling from my parents supported the belief that we should care for our fellow man. I didn’t go so far as to believe that my life should be sacrificed; however, I thought that whenever possible I should try to put other people first. Learn to say no. Unfortunately, I have been a people-pleaser which, early on in my career, put me at a disadvantage. I had put my personal needs on the backburner. I learned that a certain amount of "selfishness" is necessary for healthy personal boundaries. I have a right to personal boundaries. I need to take responsibility for how I allow others to treat me. I recognize that boundaries are filters that permit what is acceptable in life and what is not acceptable. My boundaries protect and define me. I need to set clear and decisive limits that others can respect.

SELLS TO THE WORLD The ideal business sells to the world, rather than a single neighbourhood or a single city or state. In other words, it has an unlimited global market.

INELASTIC DEMAND The ideal business offers a product which has an ‘inelastic demand’. ‘Inelastic’ refers to a product that people need or desire — almost regardless of price.

UNIQUE PRODUCTS The ideal business produces a product which is difficult (or almost impossible) for a competitor to copy or reproduce. This means the product is an original (such as a publication) or it requires very special knowhow, or it produces a product which is protected by copyright or patent.

LOW LABOUR REQUIREMENTS The ideal business has low labour requirements; the fewer people needed, the better. Today’s example of this is the much talked about ‘virtual corporation’. The virtual corporation may consist of an office with three executives, where literally all manufacturing and services are farmed out to other companies.

LOW OVERHEADS The ideal business has a low overhead; it does not need an expensive location, it does not need large amounts of electricity, advertising, legal advice, high-prices employees, big inventory, etc

CASH BILLINGS — C.O.D.The ideal business is a business that has cash billings. In other words, it does not tie up your capital with lengthy or complex credit terms, etc.

REGULATION FREE The ideal business is relatively free from all kinds of government and industry regulations and structures.

PORTABLE The ideal business is portable or easily moveable. You can put it anywhere you want in the world: Australia, the USA, Great Britian, New Zealand, China, Indonesia, etc.

YOU LOVE IT Here’s a crucial but often overlooked one; the ideal business is one that keeps you fascinated, you love it, it requires your full intellectual (and often your emotional) energies. There’s nothing like being fascinated with what you’re doing.

CONTINUING NEED The ideal business sells a product which fits a continuing human (or animal) need. It’s not a fad product, it’s not a product which people can easily substitute or even do without.

FREE TIME Another important one: the ideal business leaves you with free time. In other words, it doesn’t require your labour and attention 12, 16, 18 hours a day.
Three (3) additional points might be added into this list as follows:

A PROVEN SYSTEM A system with a proven track record on which to structure the building of your business. The system might make use of tapes, books and meetings (seminars, away weekends, etc), etc, to assist its associates with building their businesses.

TAXATION BENEFITS The expenses of the business can be negatively geared against your primary income when determining your tax each year, provided the relevant Tax Office reqirements, etc, are met.

TIME LEVERAGING A lot of people each doing a little. J. Paul Getty has been quoted as saying: “I’d rather have 1% of the efforts of 100 men, than 100% of my own efforts.”
Worry is negative energy; doesn’t serve you any benefit. Instead of that leave your problems to the higher source, do whatever is in your capacity & leave everything to God. Prayer, mediation, and smile bring positive energy into your life; enjoy those.
Worry is such negative energy that doesn’t help you solve the problem. My mom always taught me, to hope for the best and be prepared for the worst. Most of the time things happen are in between, or even the best. In my whole life, I followed this principle and really never had to face the worst. But staying calm, doing my best, and leaving remaining on higher power helped me keep my attitude positive. Accepting the situation, and taking the responsibility; helped way more than unnecessary worrying.

You are a business owner now, a leader; you will be responsible for adding value to other people’s lives. To add value to other people’s lives, first, you have to add value to your life. You need to be free of all the negative thoughts, and feelings coming from your past. Learn from them and move on. If you don’t learn, the same challenges will keep on coming again. Your past is like a story, you cannot change it, so better let it go and create your bright future through your business idea.

Thinking about our past gives us depression when we focus on what mistakes we did. But we should look at our mistakes as a stepping stone as far as we learn from them. Those mistakes were small and they actually saved us from big blunders in our future. The time we are living in right now is the best time for us, we need to enjoy that and that is why it is called “Present”. Thinking and worrying about our future gives us anxiety. Worry is negative energy. A person with faith doesn’t worry, he just takes action based on the awareness at that particular time; he decides what can be the best at that particular moment.
I had a tough time prioritizing my life; then my mentor told me that just think that you are going to die in a month or so. In such a case, which tasks you will do? That totally opened my eyes. If I had only one month to live, I am not going to waste time on social media or in front of the TV. I will do what is the best for my family, what is the best for my soul.

Most people tend to ask questions like, “How do I do that?”, “How am I going to achieve that?”, “What actions do I need to take to make that happen?” or similar questions. Just wanted to say that why is more important than How. Just sharing my views.
Your ‘WHY’ is more important than the ‘HOW’. You will always find the HOW when you know WHY you must succeed and have a compelling reason. As Elan Musk says, a lot of free information is available on YouTube, though you will have to screen it to find the right one. You take action only because of your why. Your why is your dream. Your dream gives you vision. Bible says that “Man without vision shall perish.” Once your why is crystal clear, how will appear? When a student is ready, the teacher appears. When a student is completely trained, the teacher disappears. Your why is the driving force for your goals.
Our why was to spend more time with our family, and create time by creating ongoing income so that we can achieve our dreams of taking vacations together worldwide. We are doing that now and that became possible only with the mentorship team. Great news that this team is the will to mentor some more but there is a long screening process though. So, what are the rewards; many. It is a complete package. Getting rewarded in every possible area of our lives. Worked hard, smart on home-based business; now it is the rewards time to do whatever you want to do in your life. We achieved this only by helping many achieve their dreams. When you compare yourself with others, you mostly compare your the worst with other people’s the best. That is not a fair comparison. You don’t know another person 100%, you don’t know all of their weaknesses. This comparison drains you and doesn’t serve any purpose in your journey. If someone else compares you with another person, you can tell them that I am just working on myself. I have mentors, guides, and role models; I learn from them but that doesn’t mean I have to be exactly like them. This will bring sanity to your life.
You can just control yourself, learn from the past and move on. Alter your thoughts by taking proper mentorship and deleting negativity. A negative attitude doesn’t help anyone, then why hurt yourself? Be your own best friend. Every day, every moment you have a chance to start fresh. You have past wisdom, so even though it is a fresh start; you are still way ahead in the game due to the wisdom.
This image explains everything; I don’t need to reiterate the message in the image, but these are a few principles vital for your personal growth and professional business growth. Yes, we start in business for money, but when we focus on positively impacting our customers; money comes automatically. It is not finding a perfect partner but being the right partner for your partner. Luxury items will give you temporary happiness but good memories will give you lifelong experiences for which you are born.
Gaining recognition is just having a great reputation, always based on other people’s views; they can change anytime. But if you satisfy your soul and have integrity, that will count for your success, in this world and eternity. Get rid of your limiting beliefs and start your happiness journey. Once you make these changes, the previous things/goals like money, prestige, etc. which you were looking for; will come looking for you. Once you have inner peace, once start creating a positive impact; positive changes will happen in other areas of your life too.
I hope this blog helps you in succeeding in your journey and achieving your goals. We learned all this from the mentorship team. To start any new project, first of all, you need to have a desire, without any desire why would anyone think of doing additional things in their lives? When desire goes to the level of passion, then a sure person takes an action. Many people have desires, and dreams; but they don’t take action because of many reasons like self-doubts, low self-image, fear, and many other negative things we can list. Once you put a date on your dream to achieve, it becomes a goal. You must have read about “SMART” goals, which means: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Real & Time-bound.
Global Reach
The Internet is bringing the whole world closer, so why settle for local business; why not look for a small business that you can do from the comfort of your home and still have a global reach? Yes, it is possible. Look for a long-term company if you are looking to become a partner with any company.
Mentorship
This is the vital part; make sure that you qualify for the mentorship of people who are already successful in the area you want to succeed. It is not easy since every successful person may not be ready to mentor others. Also, they have many strict criteria on whom they select as a mentee. Also, it is good that someone is watching your blind spots. When someone spends years in the job world, it is not natural to have a business mindset. You have to invest in yourself, in your baby small business, you have to work consistently, persistently; get feedback from your mentors; apply the new changed strategies as suggested by your mentors and then you will see the fruits of your labor.
