In John 6, we read the powerful story of Jesus feeding more than 5,000 people with just five small barley loaves and two fish offered by a young boy.
It didn’t seem like much for such a great need. But when the boy gave what he had to Jesus, everything changed.
This story reminds us of something we often forget: God doesn’t need much to do a miracle. He just wants us to give Him what we have and trust Him with the rest.
Jesus could have created food out of nothing, but instead He chose to multiply what was given to Him.
In this episode of Hope for Today, we talk about what happens when we bring what we have, no matter how small it feels, to Jesus, and how a heart of gratitude prepares us to see God do immeasurably more than we could ever imagine.
Because in God’s hands, what seems like “not enough” can become more than enough…immeasurably more.

Thanksgiving Versus Complaining
Thanksgiving and complaining cannot rule the heart at the same time. This episode teaches that we may not always be able to thank God for a painful thing itself, but we can give thanks in it because He is present, faithful, and able to work all things for good.

In this special episode, Jill sits down with five incredible Hunter’s Hope moms to hear what life has looked like from their perspective as they care for a child with leukodystrophy or live with the loss of a child.
Together, they talk about how this journey has shaped their faith, impacted their marriages and families, and revealed the faithfulness of God through unimaginable circumstances.
Most importantly, these moms offer hope to the mother who may have just heard the diagnosis no parent ever wants to hear or is learning to live with the heartbreak of missing her child.
Their stories are honest, courageous, and full of hope. We pray this conversation reminds you that God is near to the brokenhearted, faithful in every season, and able to do immeasurably more than we could ever ask or imagine.

Don’t Give Up!
When life doesn’t unfold the way you expected, it can be tempting to give up, not just on your plans, but on believing that God is still working.
In today’s Hope for Today episode, Jill shares encouragement for the weary and discouraged heart: God wastes nothing. Even in disappointment, delay, and detours, He is weaving together His perfect plan and purpose for your life.
This episode reminds listeners to surrender their plans to God’s will, rest in His strength instead of their own, and trust that in His perfect timing, He will provide what He has promised and it will be more than you imagine.

Last week, we heard from six incredible Hunter’s Hope dads. This week, we’re honored to continue the conversation with six more fathers whose lives have been forever changed by caring for a terminally ill child or by the loss of that child.
They share honestly about how suffering has shaped them as men, impacted their marriages, challenged and strengthened their faith, and what they want other dads to know as they walk a similar road.
Whether you’re a parent, a spouse, a friend, or someone searching for hope in the middle of heartbreak, we pray this conversation reminds you that you are not alone. God is near to the brokenhearted, faithful in every season, and still able to do immeasurably more than we could ever ask or imagine.

In this Hope for Today episode, we reflect on the first recorded words of Jesus in the book of John:
“When the two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus. Turning around, Jesus saw them following and asked, ‘What do you want?’” (John 1:37–38)
This simple but profound question invites us to examine our deepest desires. Do we want comfort? Healing? Assurance? Love?
As we sit with this question, we discover that beneath all of our surface-level wants is a deeper longing, to be known, loved, and secure.
This episode is a gentle challenge and an honest invitation:
What do you want and is Jesus the answer your heart has been searching for?

Stop trying so hard.
Not stop caring.

But stop trying to do what only God can do.
Some of us are exhausted because we’re carrying things that were never ours to carry.

Trust Him with everything.
This episode encourages listeners to release control, surrender outcomes, and trust God with everything…in marriage, parenting, health, dreams, and every uncertain season.

After three episodes of sharing my perspective, Jim is joining me for a special conversation about our 30 years of marriage.
Together, we reflect on the lessons we’ve learned, the challenges we’ve faced, the ways God has sustained us, and what we believe truly held us together through every season.
This isn’t a conversation between two people who have all the answers. It’s simply an honest look at a marriage that has been tested, strengthened, and carried by the faithfulness of God.
Whether you’ve been married for decades, are just beginning your journey, or simply need encouragement today, we hope our story reminds you that God is able to do immeasurably more than we could ever ask or imagine.
Thank you for joining us for this special series. We pray it encourages your heart, strengthens your faith, and reminds you that with God, all things are possible and there is always hope.

There are moments in life when everything feels uncertain…when what’s happening around us or even within us doesn’t make sense.
We want to feel safe.
We want to know things will be okay.
We want something we can hold onto.
But what if true safety isn’t found in understanding the situation…
but in trusting the One who holds it all?
In today’s Hope for Today episode, we’re reminded that no matter what life looks like from our perspective, God is still in control. He sees the whole picture. He is a God of order, purpose, and perfect love.
Just like a baby feels safe in the arms of a loving parent, we are invited to rest in the safety of God’s mighty, sovereign hands where we are held, protected, and never alone.
This episode is for anyone who feels afraid, overwhelmed, or unsure of what’s ahead.

As we wrap up this three-part series, I’m sharing the final lessons that have helped sustain and hold our marriage together over the last 30 years.
Looking back, I can clearly see God’s hand in every season…the joyful moments, the painful ones, and the countless ordinary days in between. Through it all, He has been faithful and good.
No marriage is perfect, but God’s grace is always sufficient. And sometimes it’s His grace alone that carries us when our own strength falls short.
I hope and pray you’re blessed and encouraged through this episode!
My husband Jim will join the conversation next week.

How you see God and what you think about Him matters.
In this episode, we’re reminded that no matter how big, good, or faithful we think God is…He is even better than that.
So often we unknowingly limit Him, based on our experiences, our understanding, or what makes sense to us. But God’s love is deeper, His faithfulness is stronger, and His ways are higher than we can fully comprehend.
This episode is an invitation to lift your eyes, expand your view of God, and trust that He is not only able to do immeasurably more—He is immeasurably more.
If you’ve been questioning His goodness, wondering if He sees you, or struggling to trust Him in a hard season… this is for you.

Marriage has a way of teaching us things we could never learn any other way.
In Part 2 of this special series, I’m sharing more of the lessons God has taught me through 30 years of marriage. We’ll talk about the importance of forgiveness, prayer, and learning to place our deepest expectations in Christ rather than in another person.
Marriage was never meant to make us whole, only Jesus can do that. But God often uses marriage to shape us, refine us, draw us closer to Him and make us holy.
If you’ve ever struggled, felt discouraged, or simply want to strengthen your marriage, I pray this conversation encourages your heart today.

Seasons shift. Relationships end. Loss changes our lives forever. Even good growth can feel uncomfortable. And sometimes change leaves us wondering and questioning who we are supposed to be.
In this Hope for Today episode, we reflect on the unchanging nature of God in the middle of our ever-changing lives. Scripture reminds us:
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8)
While everything around us may shift, His love, faithfulness, goodness, and sovereignty remain the same. Always.
Jill shares personally about life after her son, Hunter, went to heaven, how that loss reshaped everything, yet revealed a God who never moved, never changed, and gently carried her into a new way of living.
If you’re navigating a season of change, whether heartbreaking or uncomfortable, this episode will remind you that your stability is not found in your circumstances, but in the unchanging character of God.

For the past 30 years, Jim and I have experienced both beautiful seasons and incredibly difficult ones. Like every marriage, we’ve faced challenges, disappointments, heartbreak, and moments that tested us in ways we never expected.
In this first episode of a special three-part series, I’m sharing 4 out of 12 of the most important lessons I’ve learned through three decades of marriage. These aren’t lessons learned from getting it right most of the time, but from walking through real life together and discovering God’s faithfulness every step of the way. Especially in the hardest seasons of all.
My prayer is that whether you’ve been married for years, are newly married, or hope to be married someday, you’ll find encouragement, hope, and practical wisdom for your own journey.
Next week, Part Two will include 4 more life lessons I have learned that helped hold my marriage together.
Stay tuned!

What do you do when you don’t get the answers you were hoping for?
In this episode of Hope for Today, we’re talking about the kind of pain that doesn’t come with resolution, the questions that linger, the hurt that feels unfinished, and the situations where closure never seems to come.
It’s natural to want clarity.
To want to understand why.
To want the story to wrap up in a way that makes sense.
But what if closure isn’t found in knowing the outcome?
What if it’s found in trusting God with what we may never fully understand?
In this episode, we talk about: letting go of the need for answers, trusting God in the unknown, the role of forgiveness in true healing, and how God brings peace even without resolution.
If you’ve been waiting for closure…
this episode is an invitation to something deeper.
Not answers.
But healing.
Not resolution.
But peace.
Because even when the story feels unfinished, God is still at work.

In this opening episode, we introduce The Secret of His Comfort, a modern-language edition of Hannah Whitall Smith’s classic work The God of All Comfort. We’ll explore the heart behind the book, Hannah’s life and legacy, and why her message of trust, surrender, and comfort in God still speaks so deeply today.
This episode also offers a gentle invitation into the theme of the series: that the Christian life was never meant to be lived in constant fear, striving, or unrest. True comfort begins as we come to know God as He truly is—our Father, Shepherd, Refuge, and the God of all comfort.

As we come to the end of our "For the Mom" series, we wanted to sit down for one more conversation.
Over the past several weeks, we've talked about everything from anxiety and heartbreak to purpose, prayer, and the everyday challenges of motherhood.
We've loved these conversations and have been so encouraged along the way.
In this bonus episode, we're sharing a Beau update, a few baby products we've loved, some Instagram quotes we've saved, and other things that have encouraged us recently.
It's a little bit of motherhood, a little bit of real life, and a chance to simply catch up before we close out the series.
Thank you for joining us! Our prayer is that these episodes have reminded you that God sees you, He is with you, and what you're doing matters more than you know.
We're so grateful you're here.

In a world that constantly shifts and changes, there is One who never does.
In this Hope for Today episode, we reflect on God’s consistency, seen in the rising sun, the changing seasons, and the steady and beautiful rhythm of creation. Scripture reminds us that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. His love does not fluctuate. His mercy does not run out. His grace is always sufficient.
If you’re walking through uncertainty, heartbreak, or a season that feels unsettling, this episode is a gentle reminder that the God who holds the universe together is holding you too.
He is faithful.

Motherhood is made up of so many small, unseen moments.
The routines. The repetition. The quiet ways you show up every single day. And sometimes… it can leave you wondering:
“Does this really matter?”
“Am I making a difference?”
In this episode, we’re talking about the everyday faithfulness of motherhood and how what feels small to you is never small to God.
If you’ve been feeling unseen, unnoticed, or like your efforts aren’t making an impact, this is a gentle reminder that nothing done in love is ever wasted.
God sees every moment. He is working beneath the surface. And there is a beautiful harvest even if you can’t see it yet.
What you’re doing matters more than you know.

How do you still have joy when life is so painful?
In this Hope for Today, we talk about real joy, not forced positivity or pretending everything is okay, but the kind of joy that can exist alongside grief. Joy that doesn’t depend on what’s going on in our lives on any given day.
This message of encouragement reminds us that joy is rooted in God’s presence, not our circumstances, and that even in seasons of pain, God is with us, working it all together for good.
If you’re starting this week weary, grieving, or unsure if you’ll ever experience joy again, this message is a gentle reminder that you are not alone and joy is still possible.

This episode is deeply personal.
Jill shares from her own story of losing her son, Hunter, at just 8 and a half years old—and the lasting impact of that kind of loss.
There are no easy words for heartbreak like this. There is an ache that remains… a space that is never filled… and the grief of what will never be.
If you are walking through loss—whether it’s the loss of a child, a loved one, a dream, or a season—this conversation is for you.
Together, we sit in the reality that grief is real and it’s heavy… but also hold onto the truth that it is not the end of the story.
God is near to the brokenhearted. He meets us in our pain. And because of Jesus, we have the hope of heaven—the promise that one day, what feels broken will be made whole again.
You are not alone in your grief. And you are not without hope.

We live in a culture that is always striving for more.
More success. More money. More material things. More.
Is it possible that the “more” we’re chasing isn’t what we actually need?
In today’s Hope for Today, we talk about the emptiness that comes from striving for things that can’t satisfy and the freedom found in realizing that Jesus is more than enough. He is the fulfillment our hearts are longing for and the Savior we were always meant to seek and know more than anything else.
This episode is an invitation to stop striving and find everything you need and more through Christ.

Motherhood is an amazing gift that comes with so much love…and sometimes so much anxiety and worry.
In this episode, we’re talking about the anxiety so many moms carry - the racing thoughts, the “what ifs,” the weight of wanting everything to be okay.
If your mind feels like it never really turns off…if you’re always thinking ahead, trying to protect, trying to prepare, this conversation is for you.
God sees you.
He understands how deeply you care and love your children. But He never asked you to carry the weight of their future or ponder all the possible outcomes that could happen.
Your children belong to Him. He is already in their future. And He invites you to bring every fear, every worry, every unknown to Him—and receive His peace in return.

Nothing we go through is ever wasted.
In today’s Hope for Today, we reflect on the truth that God works all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. Through the story of Joseph and the promises of Scripture, we’re reminded that even the painful and unfair parts of our story are not meaningless. God uses it all! Nothing is wasted!
If you’re in a place today where you’re wondering if anything good could ever come from what you’ve been through, let this message be a reminder: God sees it all, He holds it all, and He is using it all for your good and His glory…even now.

Motherhood has a way of making us question ourselves.
Am I doing enough?
Am I patient enough?
Am I getting this right?
In this episode, we’re talking about the quiet pressure so many moms carry, the feeling of not measuring up, of comparing, of wondering if we’re enough for the children God has given us.
But the truth is… your worth was never meant to be built on your performance as a mom.
God chose you for your children…on purpose. And He has not left you to figure it out on your own.
If you’ve been feeling like you’re falling short, this episode is a gentle reminder that God’s grace is sufficient, His power meets you in your weakness, and you already have what you need, because He is with you.

You can’t heal what you hide.
In today’s Hope for Today, we talk about the freedom that comes from knowing that God sees everything and loves us anyway. What stays hidden continues to hurt. Hiding only keeps us stuck, but when we bring what’s hidden into God’s light, healing and freedom can begin.
This episode is a gentle invitation to stop hiding and step into the light of God’s love and grace.

Pain and heartbreak have a way of shaping how we see everything.
When you’ve been through enough, you don’t just feel it, you start to expect it. You find yourself bracing for what might go wrong next, waiting for the next disappointment, the next loss.
But what if that’s not how you were meant to live?
In this episode, we continue our Let Go…series through the story in Gospel of John 4, where we see a powerful moment of surrender. After encountering Jesus, the woman at the well leaves her water jar behind, symbolizing the release of her past, her pain, and everything she had been carrying.
This episode is an invitation to do the same.
Not all at once.
Not perfectly.
But daily… one moment at a time.
If you’ve been carrying heartbreak, grief, or pain that feels too heavy… this conversation will gently remind you:
You don’t have to carry it alone.
And it’s possible to let it go.

How do you stay strong when you’ve been through so much heartbreak?
After loss, disappointment, and unanswered prayers, strength can feel elusive. In this Hope for Today episode, we reflect on where real strength comes from…not from having it all together, but from Jesus who holds everything together.
Through Scripture and reflection, this episode is a reminder that God is close to the brokenhearted, that His promises are true, and that this life is not the end of the story. Even in heartbreak, God is for us and He is faithful to carry us through.
If you’re walking through heartbreak today and wondering how you’re still standing, this message offers hope, comfort, and encouragement.

We all have a past.
Moments we wish we could redo.
Seasons we wish looked different.
Choices, pain, heartbreak… things we still carry, even when we don’t want to.
In this episode we’re talking about what it means to truly let go of your past, not by pretending it didn’t happen, but by releasing its power over your life.
Looking at the story of the woman at the well in John 4, we’re reminded that Jesus doesn’t define us by where we’ve been. He meets us right in the middle of our story and invites us into something new.
Your past may be part of your story… but it is not your identity.
There is freedom available.
There is healing ahead.
There is still purpose in your life.
If you’ve been feeling stuck, weighed down, or held back by what’s behind you, this episode is for you.
Let go of your past and mistakes… and step into the life God planned for you.

What’s the point of all the striving, sacrifice, and effort we pour into our lives?
In today’s Hope for Today episode, we pause to ask an honest question many of us carry quietly: What’s the point? If life were only about success, accumulation, or achievement, it would leave us exhausted and empty.
Scripture reminds us that we were created by Him and for Him. Jesus is the point and when our lives point to Him, everything else comes into perspective. Our priorities shift, our focus becomes clearer, and we’re reminded of what truly matters: loving God and loving others.
This episode offers encouragement for the weary heart, inviting you to return to the simple, life-giving truth that Jesus is the point.

In this episode of our Let Go Series, we’re talking about control, our need to manage outcomes, timelines, and how we think life should go.
Through the story of the woman at the well in John 4, we see that Jesus meets us right in the middle of what feels unexpected and out of our control and He’s already working with purpose.
She didn’t plan that moment, but God did.
This is an invitation to loosen our grip and trust the God who is truly in control. He sees what we can’t, knows what we don’t, and His purpose will always prevail.
Let go of control…and trust Him with the outcome.

Rest is not a reward for finishing everything, it’s a gift from God.
In this Hope for Today episode, we talk honestly about why rest can be so hard, why God commands it, and how learning to rest is actually an act of trust.
This encouragement is not about doing less out of guilt, but about receiving rest as something God designed for our good.
If you’ve been pushing through, feeling stretched thin, or struggling to slow down, this episode is a gentle reminder that you need rest and God is still working, even when you take the time to stop and rest.

In this episode of the Let Go Series, we’re talking about something many of us quietly struggle with...people-pleasing.
The need to be liked. The pressure to meet expectations. The fear of disappointing others. It can be exhausting…and it can slowly pull us away from who God created us to be.
But what if you were never meant to carry that weight?
Through the story of the woman at the well in John 4, we’re reminded that Jesus doesn’t ask us to perform for approval, He meets us with truth, grace, and love right where we are.
This episode is an invitation to:
let go of seeking validation from people…and start living from the security of who you already are in Christ.
Because when you know who you belong to, you don’t have to chase who you are.
If you’ve ever felt torn between pleasing others and resting in who God says you are, this conversation is for you.

There are moments when what we have feels painfully insufficient, when the need in front of us is bigger than our strength, our resources, or our ability to fix it.
In this episode, we reflect on the story of Jesus feeding the five thousand and the greater truth it points to: provision has never depended on what we bring, but on who we give what we have to.
From multiplying loaves and fish to giving His own life to make a way back to the Father, Jesus shows us again and again that when there seems to be no way, He is the way.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, uncertain, or stretched thin, this episode is a reminder that God sees your need and He will provide.

In this episode of our Let Go Series, we continue in The Gospel of John chapter 4 with the story of the woman at the well, a woman whose life had not unfolded the way she hoped.
She was carrying disappointment. Unmet expectations. A quiet kind of thirst that nothing seemed to satisfy.
And Jesus met her right there.
In this conversation, we talk about what happens when the expectations we place on people, circumstances, and even timelines begin to cause pain and disappointment and how gently, but truthfully, Jesus invites us to shift those expectations back to Him.
We talk about:
• Why misplaced expectations often lead to deeper disappointment
• How disappointment can quietly shape the way we see God
• What it looks like to release what was never ours to carry
• And how Jesus is the living water that truly satisfies
This episode is an invitation to stop asking temporary things to meet eternal needs…and to trust that even in disappointment, God is still working.

Waiting is hard.
It’s one of the most difficult parts of life, especially when there’s nothing you can do…but wait.
In today’s episode, we talk honestly about waiting: waiting for healing, waiting for answers, and waiting on God when control is out of our hands. Drawing from personal experience, including walking through a season of waiting during Beau’s heart condition journey as a newborn, this episode reminds us that waiting is never just about what we’re waiting for, it’s about Who we’re waiting on.
If you’re in a season of waiting that’s filled with uncertainty, fear, and frustration, this encouragement is a reminder that waiting is never wasted and you are not waiting alone.

Fear and worry have a way of quietly taking over, shaping our thoughts, our decisions, and even the way we show up in our lives.
In this first episode of the Let Go Series, we’re talking about what it really means to let go of fear and worry… and begin to trust God instead.
Because the goal isn’t to pretend we’re not afraid. It’s to stop letting fear lead.
Jesus meets us right in the middle of our fears, not to shame us, but to gently lead us into trust, peace, and freedom.
If fear has been holding you back, keeping you stuck, or stealing your peace…this conversation is for you.
Let’s take the first step together. Let go of fear and worry… and trust the God who meets you right where you are.
Fear has a way of convincing us to hide, to pull back, to protect ourselves. But Jesus meets us right where fear leads us and invites us to trust Him instead.
You don’t have to pretend you’re not afraid. You just don’t have to let fear lead.
Let go of fear and worry…and trust the God who meets you right where you are.

Another painful season can feel especially heavy when you’ve already walked through so much before.
In this episode, we’re speaking to the weary heart, the one asking how to keep trusting God when pain shows up again. We talk about what trust looks like when you’re tired, how gratitude and worship can anchor us in hard seasons, and the reminder that God never wastes what we walk through.
This is not a conversation about having all the answers.
It’s an invitation to keep walking by faith, even when you can’t see what’s ahead, to keep trusting that God is close, faithful, and holding you together one day at a time.
If you’re hurting, worn down, or struggling to trust again, this episode is for you.

This series was born out of one simple invitation from Jesus, to let go and release what we were never meant to carry and trust the One who meets us right where we are and wants to give us so much more than we can imagine.
Through the story of the woman at the well, we’ll walk together through what it looks like to let go of:
• fear and worry
• expectations
• control
• people-pleasing
• disappointment
• pain
• the past
• and the weight of other voices
Each episode has been a reminder that letting go isn’t weakness, it’s worship. And surrender isn’t losing, it’s trusting and gaining more than we can fathom.
Jesus didn’t meet the woman at the well with shame. He met her with truth, grace, His outrageous love and living water. And He meets us the same way.
If you’re tired of carrying what’s heavy…
If you’ve been gripping tightly because letting go feels scary…
If you’re longing for freedom, clarity, and peace…
This series is for you.
Let go and let God do what only He can do in your life.

In this episode we want to remind you that you were never meant to carry it all.
We’ve learned, more times than we can count, that trying to hold everything together, control every outcome, and analyze every “what if” only leads to exhaustion.
Eventually, there comes a moment when you realize you can’t do it anymore.
And that’s often where letting go begins.
Letting go isn’t giving up.
It’s choosing to trust the One who already knows and holds it all.
So we invite you to ask God what He’s inviting you to release, to let go of…and trust Him to take care of it.

Erin and Parker share how Beau has been doing, including updates from his recent medical tests, the adventure of starting solid foods, navigating food allergens, and some of the surprises that have come with becoming new parents.
They also reflect on what has surprised them the most about this season of parenthood—both the challenges and the unexpected joy.
As always, we are incredibly grateful for the prayers, encouragement, and love so many of you have shown our family along the way. Your support has meant more than we can ever fully express.

In this episode, we talk about what it looks like to trust God when understanding falls short.
Through personal experiences of loss, illness, long hospital seasons, and struggles with anxiety and depression, we explore the tension between wanting answers and learning to trust God when life doesn’t make sense.
Scripture reminds us that God doesn’t ask us to figure everything out, He asks us to trust Him with all our heart (Proverbs 3:5–6). And when we do, He offers a peace that surpasses understanding that guards our hearts and minds (Philippians 4:6–7).
This episode is an invitation to release the need for control, rest in God’s faithfulness, and trust that He is still at doing immeasurably more than we could ever ask or imagine.

Bad news is everywhere.
Turn on the TV, scroll your phone, or simply walk through your own life and it can feel like the weight of the world is pressing in. Sometimes the headlines are overwhelming, and sometimes the hardest news is the kind that happens quietly inside our own homes.
The truth is, we were never created to carry the constant flood of information, fear, and heartbreak that surrounds us every day.
But even in the middle of it all, there is still good news.
Not the kind that depends on circumstances changing or everything suddenly working out the way we hoped. The kind of good news that never changes.
Jesus.
In this episode, we talk honestly about how heavy the world can feel and why the message of Jesus is still the greatest news we will ever hear. When everything around us feels uncertain, God is still working, still present, and still making a way.
If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed by the state of the world, or by the struggles in your own life, this conversation is an encouragement for you.
Because no matter what is happening…there is always good news when Jesus is the center of the story.

We talk about bold faith, human weakness, and the grace of a Savior who immediately reaches out to rescue Peter when he begins to sink.
This conversation is also personal, as we share how easy it is to focus on unexpected or difficult news instead of the goodness God has already shown us and how that shift can lead to fear instead of gratitude.
Ultimately, this episode reminds us that it’s not the storm or the circumstances that deserve our focus…but Jesus, who is King over it all and able to do immeasurably MORE than we could ever ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20).

After loss, disappointment, and unanswered prayers, strength can feel elusive. In this episode, we reflect on where real strength comes from—not from having it all together, but from Jesus who holds us when we feel broken.
Through Scripture and gentle reflection, this episode is a reminder that God is close to the brokenhearted, that His promises are still true, and that this life is not the end of the story. Even in heartbreak, God is for us—and He is faithful to carry us through.
If you’re walking through heartbreak today and wondering how you’re still standing, this message offers hope, comfort, and truth for your heart.

There are seasons when life feels overwhelming, when trials come one after another and you’re left wondering how you got here again. In today’s episode, we look at the moment Jesus intentionally sent His disciples into a storm and why that detail matters more than we realize.
Jesus knew the storm was coming. He knew the resistance would be strong and fear would rise. And still, He sent them. Not to harm them, but to reveal Himself to them in a deeper way. In the middle of their exhaustion, Jesus came walking on the water, showing them that what felt overwhelming to them was completely under His authority.
If you’re tired of pushing through, questioning how much longer you can keep going, this episode is for you. It’s a reminder that every trial you face has been father-filtered through God’s loving care and that knowing Him more, even through the storm, is more than enough. The One who walks on water sees you, is with you, and has a perfect plan for your life, even in the midst of the storm.

Dating and singleness can feel especially complicated in today’s culture where connection is everywhere, yet loneliness seems to be more prevalent. Dating apps, expectations, and comparison often shape the way people see themselves and others.
In this episode, we talk honestly about dating and being single in the modern world while grounding the conversation in biblical truth. We explore what Scripture says about the heart, identity, waiting, and trusting God with both our relationships and our future.
We’re joined by special guest, Camryn Kelly, who brings thoughtful perspective, encouragement, and depth to the conversation, adding insight that resonates deeply with singles navigating this season.
This episode reminds us that God looks at the heart, not outward appearances. That our worth is not defined by relationship status. And that God’s plan for your life, whether married or single, is good, intentional, and worthy of your trust.
If you’re seeking peace, clarity, or reassurance about where you are right now, this conversation is for you.

In this episode, we reflect on the story of Job—a man who endured immense loss, suffering, and heartbreak, yet brought his pain honestly before God.
Job’s story reminds us that faith does not mean the absence of grief, doubt, or questions. Job was faithful, but he was also human. He cried out, wrestled with anguish, and longed for understanding.
In the end, God didn’t explain why Job went through what he did. Instead, God revealed more of Himself, and that revelation was more than enough.
This episode is a reminder that while we may not always receive the answers we’re looking for, we will always receive the God we need most. In the midst of pain, loss, and trials, God’s love, power, and presence will sustain us and carry us through.
A conversation about suffering, trust, and finding hope, not in explanations or answers, but in knowing God more.

Joy in the midst of heartbreak doesn’t look the way most people expect it to.
When you’ve been through loss, disappointment, or long seasons of unanswered prayers, joy can start to feel like something meant for other people, not for you.
It doesn’t mean the pain is gone. It doesn’t mean the grief didn’t matter. And it doesn’t mean life suddenly feels easy.
But joy isn’t the absence of grief. It’s the presence of God no matter what you’re walking through.
In today’s episode, we talk honestly about the joy we have experienced in the midst of pain and heartbreak. Not surface-level happiness, but the kind of joy that comes from Jesus and can exist alongside sorrow, questions, and waiting.
This isn’t about pretending everything is okay. It’s about discovering that God is still near, still faithful, and still good, even when life hurts.
If you’re hurting, grieving, or quietly wondering if joy is still possible after everything you’ve walked through… this one is for you.

In this episode, we reflect on the powerful truth found throughout Scripture that God is deeply attentive to every detail of His creation.
From caring for the sparrows and clothing the lilies, to setting boundaries for the ocean waves, calling each star by name, and numbering the hairs on our heads…Scripture reveals a God who overlooks nothing.
This episode is a reminder that if God is that intentional with creation, how much more does He care for us…His children?
If you’ve ever wondered whether God sees your needs, your worries, or the details of your life, this conversation invites you to rest in the truth that God is both powerful and personal. He is present, attentive, and faithful and He is able to care for us in ways that are immeasurably more than we could ever ask or imagine.

Helping a new mom can look like a lot of different things, and it doesn’t have to be complicated, but intentional.
Sometimes it looks like meals and laundry.
Sometimes it looks like listening without fixing.
Sometimes it looks like showing up long after the newborn phase has passed.
And sometimes, the most powerful help of all is prayer and encouragement…covering her in prayer, speaking life when she feels unsure, and reminding her she’s not alone.
In today’s episode, we’re sharing some meaningful ways you can help a new mom that have helped us grow as moms.
If you’re supporting a new mom, or if you are a new mom, this one is for you.

Choosing faith over fear isn’t easy.
Choosing peace over worry doesn’t happen automatically.
Fear and anxiety still come, but we get to choose how we respond.
This week, instead of focusing on all of the “what ifs,” we’re choosing prayer and praise.
Instead of focusing on what could go wrong, we’re choosing gratitude.
Instead of worrying we’re going to worship the God who holds all of creation in the palm of His mighty hands.
Instead of carrying it all alone, we’re placing it in God’s hands.
When we turn toward Him, with thanksgiving, He says His peace will guard our hearts and our minds in Christ.
If you’re walking into this week feeling fearful, anxious and overwhelmed, you’re not alone.
God sees you.
He goes before you.
And He is able to do immeasurably more than all you can imagine.

Motherhood is holy work—and it’s also hard.
In this episode, we want to speak directly to moms. The ones who are tired, overwhelmed, and carrying the weight of wanting to do it all “right.” There is so much pressure in motherhood…pressure to meet expectations, keep up, and never fall short.
Today, we want to offer encouragement, truth, and grace. We share five gentle reminders meant to bring peace into the everyday moments of motherhood…from praying over your child, to letting go of comparison, to remembering that some things can wait. We also talk about the difference between striving to be a “good” mom and focusing on being a godly mom…one who leans on God in everything.
If you’ve ever wondered if you’re doing enough, this episode is for you. You are not alone. And you are doing better than you think.

In life, there are seasons when we realize just how weak we really are.
When we don’t have the strength.
The words.
Or even the ability to pray.
When we don’t think we can endure or push through one more day.
And yet, those are often the very seasons and moments when we discover how strong and present and good God truly is.
He doesn’t wait for us to feel strong before He shows up.
His strength meets us right in the middle of our weakness.
His grace carries us when we have nothing left to give.
If you’re starting this week feeling tired, overwhelmed, or unsure how you’ll make it through another day much less another week, this reminder is for you: You don’t have to be strong. Let God’s strength be enough.
God goes before you.
He is with you.
And His strength is made perfect in your weakness.
There is nothing He can’t do!

In this next episode of The Beau Story Series, we open up about the fear, worry, and anxiety that filled so many moments during Beau’s first 38 days in the hospital. There was so much to be afraid of...so many unknowns, questions, and moments that felt overwhelming. But instead of letting anxiety take over, we learned to lean hard into the truth of God’s Word, cling to His promises, and let worship steady our hearts when nothing else could.
We share honestly about the battles we faced in our minds and the ways God met us in the fear. From middle-of-the-night prayers to the Scriptures we held onto when we couldn’t hold ourselves up, this episode is a reminder that even in the darkest places, God gives peace that doesn’t make sense and strength we don’t have on our own.
If you’re walking through your own season of fear or uncertainty, our hope is that this conversation points you back to the One who never leaves, never changes, and is always near.

A Prayer for Peace, Confidence, and Trust in the Unknown
Are you stepping into a new season and wondering, “Am I really ready for this?”
Maybe you’re about to become a parent, move to a new city, start a new job, or walk through a transition you didn’t choose — like loss, change, or an unexpected shift in your plans.
If your heart feels anxious…
If your thoughts are racing…
If you’re doing your best to trust God but still longing for clarity — this prayer is for you.
In this gentle and honest conversation with God, we’ll bring our fear, uncertainty, and the pressure to have it all figured out — and lay it at the feet of the One who already knows what’s ahead.
We’ll be reminded that:
God is in the details — even when we can’t see them
He goes before us and walks with us
He isn’t asking us to be perfect — only present
Even when we feel unsure, He is always sure
This episode is a space to breathe, be still, and remember:You don’t walk into this new season alone.God is with you — in the timing, in the transition, and in every step ahead.

A Prayer for Processing What Hurts and Learning to Let Go
Have you been holding onto pain, resentment, or unforgiveness?
Maybe someone hurt you and never made it right — or maybe you’ve been angry with yourself, others, or even God.
In this honest prayer, we bring it all to Him:
• The pain we’ve buried
• The people we haven’t forgiven
• The emotions we’ve tried to ignore
You’ll be reminded that God is compassionate (Psalm 103:8), invites us to process our emotions with Him, and calls us to forgive — not to excuse the hurt, but to be free.
This is for the one ready to release the weight and make room for healing, peace, and love.
You don’t have to carry it alone. Let’s talk to God — and let go together.

A Prayer for When You Feel Lost or Unsure of What’s Next...
Have you ever found yourself wondering, “What am I even doing with my life?” or “God, where are You leading me?”
If you're feeling stuck in the in-between — unsure of your next step or questioning your purpose — this episode of Summer Conversations with God is for you.
Through guided prayer and scripture, we’ll ask God for clarity, peace, and direction — and be reminded that:
• He directs our steps (Proverbs 3:5–6)

• He is preparing us, even in the waiting (Isaiah 43:19)
• Our worth is rooted in His love, not our performance
This is a moment to pause, and remember: you are not behind, not forgotten, and not without purpose.
Let’s talk to the One who sees the whole picture — together.

A Prayer for the Discouraged and Disconnected Heart... Have you ever felt like life is just happening around you — while inside, you're tired, disconnected, or discouraged?
Maybe you don’t have a plan right now. Maybe joy feels out of reach. Maybe you're wondering if God even sees you.
If you’ve been feeling alone — even in a room full of people — this episode of Summer Conversations with God is for you.
In today’s prayer, we’re creating space for the weary heart — the one who needs to be reminded: you are not forgotten, not overlooked, and not alone.
We’ll pause and talk to the God who is near to the brokenhearted and faithful in every season.
You'll be reminded:
God still has a plan (Jeremiah 29:11)
His presence is with you (Deuteronomy 31:6)
You are fully seen, known, and loved (Isaiah 49:16, Psalm 139)

If you’ve been feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or afraid — this prayer is for you.
In this episode of Summer Conversations with God, we’re bringing our fears to the One who sees, cares, and offers something better: peace.
Not the kind that comes from perfect circumstances — but a peace that calms our hearts, quiets our minds, and carries us through the unknown (Philippians 4:7).
Together, we’ll pray and be reminded of truth:
God is with you.
His perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18).
He is your provider (Isaiah 43:19).
Your protector (Psalm 121).
And He is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20).
You don’t have to carry your fear alone.
Let’s talk to God about it — together.

Together, we’ll lay down the weight of stress, fatigue, and emotional overload — and ask God for what only He can give: His peace, His strength, His presence.
You don’t have to carry it all alone. God invites you to come as you are — not strong, just present — and trust that He’s enough.
Through Scripture, and prayer, you’ll be reminded:
God is not overwhelmed by what overwhelms you.
He is with you.
He is for you.
And He is able to do immeasurably more — even here.
Let’s pray.
Let’s rest in Him — together.

We’re kicking off our Summer Series: Conversations with God in the best place possible — with God Himself. Who He is. How He sees us. And why that changes everything.
If you’ve been feeling forgotten, unloved, or unsure of your worth, this prayer is for you.
We’ll be reminded through Scripture that God is faithful, kind, and near. His love defines us — not our past, performance, or what others think.
You are chosen. Redeemed. Forgiven. Loved. Held by a God who is always more — more gracious, more powerful, and more present than you even know.
Let this prayer be your reset — a quiet moment to remember that you are deeply and forever loved by the One who calls you His own.

We weren’t created to have all the answers, carry all the weight, or see the full picture. We’re human—and that’s not a flaw, it’s a fact.
In this final episode of our What I Learned from My Counselor series, we’re talking about embracing our God-given limitations and letting go of the pressure to do it all, fix it all, or understand it all. Because when we acknowledge our humanness, we make space for God to be who He’s always been—faithful, sovereign, and full of grace.
If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed by all that life is asking of you, or frustrated that you can’t seem to keep it all together, this conversation is for you. You’ll be reminded that God doesn’t expect perfection—He invites surrender.
Let this be your permission to breathe, rest, and trust the One who’s not limited like we are. You’re human… and that’s exactly who God came to help.

We all do it... We hide behind smiles, busyness, perfectionism, or silence—afraid of what might happen if we’re really seen. But the truth is, hiding always hurts. What we think protects us often keeps us stuck, disconnected, and weighed down.
In this episode, we’re talking about the emotional and spiritual cost of hiding our pain, our struggles, and even our true selves. You’ll hear honest reflections, biblical encouragement, and reminders that healing begins with honesty. God doesn’t ask us to have it all together—He asks us to come to Him as we are.
If you’ve been carrying something in secret, or afraid to be vulnerable, this conversation is for you. Because the freedom we're all desperate for is found when we come out of hiding.

We live in a world that craves instant results—but growth takes time. Healing takes time. Breakthrough takes time.
In this episode, we’re talking about the process of becoming. Just like a seed doesn’t produce fruit overnight, the work God is doing in your life might not be visible yet—but that doesn’t mean it’s not happening. He’s always working. Even when you can’t see it or feel it. He’s always working in and through it all for your good and His glory.
If you’re feeling discouraged in the waiting, or wondering if you’ll ever become more than you are right now—this conversation is for you.
Stay rooted. Stay faithful.
God is growing something beautiful in you, even if you can’t see it yet.

And who better to invite on the podcast for this episode than Camryn Kelly. If you've listened to any episodes that Cam's been on, you know she's funny! We love spending time with her and had so much fun recording this conversation.
We hope you laugh a lot and enjoy this episode! After all, "A joyful heart is good medicine!" (Proverbs 17:22)
We love you and we'll see you back in 2025!

Do you have trust issues?
Do you struggle to trust God?
If your answer is yes... you're not alone! There are seasons when it's hard to trust God, especially when life is hard and suffering is a part of your story.
In this week's episode we talk about the reasons to trust God and ways to trust Him when you don't!
God is always good, even when your circumstances aren’t.
He loves you and His plans for your life cannot be thwarted.
He is trustworthy.
He is faithful.
Your circumstances don't change who He is or the good plans He has for you.
We hope you're encouraged and at the end of this episode we pray that you will trust God more!

At some point in our lives we all experience doubt.
We doubt God. We doubt His goodness. We doubt why He allows certain things to happen in our lives. We doubt if He really is who He says He is.
But doubt isn't necessarily a bad thing. Doubt may actually be the very thing that strengthens your faith.
In today's episode, we talk about practical things you can do when you're struggling with doubt. We also share our own experiences and how our seasons of doubt have resulted in greater faith and trust in God.
We hope at the end of this episode you will be encouraged and strengthened in your faith and that maybe you’ll doubt less than you did before.

Happy Thanksgiving 2024!
We all have so much to be thankful for.
Every breath and every moment are a gift from God!
In this week's episode we focus on gratitude.
We talk about how to live with a heart of gratitude and give thanks to God in all circumstances. And how when you choose to live that way, God will change you even if your circumstances don't change.
We are so thankful for you!
And we hope you have a blessed Thanksgiving!

What's the point of prayer?
If God already knows, if He already has a plan, if He is all powerful and in control, then why do we pray?
Does praying really make a difference in our lives?
In today's episode we talk about the purpose of prayer. We share our own experience with asking the above questions and the great value we have found in the gift of prayer.
We hope you're blessed and encouraged through this episode.
We also hope that you'll be inspired to pray like you never have before.

Q&A is back with Conversations with Erin & Jill!
We love hearing what's on your heart. Your questions matter to us.
Many of the questions we've received are about anxiety.
There is so much going on in the world, in our communities, and in our homes. Some things we're able to control, but most of what we go through is beyond our control. Anxiety is something so many people struggle with, including us.
In today's episode we share our experience and what has helped us personally cope with anxiety. We hope you are encouraged and find hope!

Have you ever been betrayed by the one person you thought you could trust most?
Did your spouse break the marriage commitment you thought would last a lifetime?
Are you filled with anger, hatred and resentment because the person you loved most selfishly broke your heart?
Our good friend, Kristin, has walked through all of the above and she has chosen to openly share her experience with us on this week's episode.
We talk about how to forgive when you've been betrayed?
How to trust again after your spouse has been unfaithful?
And how God can redeem a devastated, broken relationship?
In today's episode, Jill's close friend, Kristin, shares her amazing testimony of God's redemption and the power of forgiveness! Kristin's willingness to share what she has walked through is inspiring and very encouraging.
“1 Corinthians 4-5 to me is how our story came about. It's really about how God brings to light what is in the darkness. I think a lot of times you feel like you need to control and be a private investigator and find things out when in fact God will bring it to light at the right time for His purpose.” - Kristin

Do you feel like there's a lot of bad news right now?
The state of our country and the world we live in.
The recent hurricanes that have caused so much devastation.
The wars in other countries.
Or maybe your bad news looks different...
A diagnosis.
The loss of a loved one.
The loss of a job.
The future you imagined seems out of reach.
A traumatic accident.
Or maybe your bad news is that there just seems to be no good news.
What if no matter what we faced in this life we could trust and believe that there is still good news...That there's always good news.
In today's episode we talk about how in the midst of all the bad news, there is still good news because of a good God!

WELCOME BACK TO THE NFL FOOTBALL SEASON!!!
If you know us, we share a lot about faith on this podcast, but we love football…especially the Buffalo Bills! To kick off the 2024 Buffalo Bills Season we wanted to bring in someone who was not only an amazing player on the field, but an even more incredible man off the field… STEVE TASKER!
We had so much fun talking to Steve and my dad, Jim, about their playing days, what it was like being teammates, and how the game of football made them family. Steve also shares his story of faith and how his relationship with Jesus changed his life both on and off the field.
We know you’ll be encouraged!
And maybe, if you’re not already, it will make you a Bills fan!
Let’s Go Buffalo!!!

This is by far one of the hardest episodes we’ve ever recorded.
A little over a month ago, my amazing father-in-law, Greg Bean, suddenly took his last breath here on earth and his first in heaven.
I asked my husband, Parker, if he would be willing to share how he is processing the devastating loss of his dad.
Although this is a very difficult episode, it is filled with so much HOPE…
Hope that this is not the end of the story.
Hope in eternal life.
And hope today, because of the One who walks with us one breath at a time.
If you or someone you love is walking through grief, we hope and believe you will be encouraged and comforted through this episode.
Thank you for sharing your heart, Parker. I love you!

Cam is back by popular demand! We love having her on the podcast!
In today's special conversation with Cam we went back to the archives and pulled out our “Hot Chocolate with God” book series. If you're not familiar with HCWG, the three of us wrote a series of five books when Cam and I were very young. These books and devotionals are filled with fun questions for girls, encouragement, scripture, and a lot more! We had so much fun creating these back in the day and we had even more fun talking about them on today's episode!
We decided to dive into some of the questions in the books that are still applicable to our lives all these years later. We talk about identity, social media, and so much more! And of course, because Cam is on the podcast, we laugh...a lot!
We hope you're encouraged! Send us some of your questions and we'll have Cam back on for another episode!

My story has been hard, but God is good. He has brought me and my family through so much. My story isn’t over and neither is yours.
I hope you are encouraged through My Story of Perseverance. I pray that God blesses you in the midst of your own story!
May we all make a difference today for someone who is fighting for their tomorrow!” - Jim Kelly

"I travel the country sharing my story of perseverance...But never quite like this.
I talk about my life growing up in the small town of East Brady, Pennsylvania, my college years playing football at the University of Miami, being drafted by the Buffalo Bills, and yes...the 4 Super Bowl losses.
I also talk about my wife, Jill, and my three children. I share about my son, Hunter, born on my birthday, February 14th, and his life and death after he was diagnosed with a fatal genetic disease called Krabbe Leukodystrophy.
I talk about battling cancer 4 times.
But more than anything...I share what the good Lord has done in my life. How He has helped me persevere in the midst of all of the tests and trials I have been through.
Even after all I've been through, I'm still here to make a difference. And as I encourage everyone to do whenever I share my story... Make a difference today for someone who is fighting for their tomorrow!"

"I used to be afraid to tell my story.
I thought I couldn’t share what I’ve walked through until I was on the other side.
Until the pain ended. Until the depression lifted. Until I no longer had panic attacks. Until I stopped doubting God. Until I was completely healed.
But… I’ve found strength in sharing my story in the midst of it…in the midst of the mess, the pain, the depression and anxiety, the fear, the grief, the brokenness.
In today's episode, I share my story of faith. How God made a way where there seemed to be no way. How He rescued me and saved me. How He healed me and continues to heal me.
The more I share my story, the less pain and shame I carry.
Telling our stories shatters shame! Your story is worth being heard!"

What do you do when everything you put your hope in fails...
"I spent years of my life putting my hope in the things of this world, until nothing this world had to offer could save my son, Hunter. But it was in that moment of desperation, when I lost all hope, that God intervened and changed everything.
He made a way where there seemed to be no way.
He revealed His purpose in the midst of my pain...
Hope in the midst of heartbreak...
Abundant life in the midst of death...
In today's episode, I share my story of an immeasurably more God who radically changed my life and has given me the greatest hope - Himself!
I hope you will listen and find hope in the God who is in the midst of your story!"

There was SO much to talk about last week that we needed a PART 2!
So this week we are continuing the conversation - How do you keep going when you want to give up?
One of the main takeaways of part 1 was that in order to Keep Going you have to rest in and trust in the PRESENCE of God, the POWER of God, the PROVISION of God, and the PROMISES of God. (If you have not already listened to this episode, we encourage you to go back and hear the truths we share.)
In Part 2 we're carrying on this conversation!
When you rest in and trust in the presence, power, provision, and promises of God it leads to... PEACE, PRAISE, and PERSEVERANCE!
We hope and pray that through listening you will be encouraged to...
Keep PERSEVERING.
Keep BELIEVING.
Keep PRAYING & PRAISING.
Keep TRUSTING GOD.
Keep LIVING.
KEEP GOING!

We covered a lot of ground during Mental Health Awareness Month. From climbing out of the pit and how to help someone struggling with anxiety and depression, to overcoming the fear of falling back into the darkness. We talked about so much, and although we hope you take time to listen to all of the episodes, we realize that you might not have the time, so we decided to summarize the highlights and top takeaways for you.
We have shared so many valuable truths over the last month and God has been doing such an incredible work in our hearts!
Also, just because Mental Health Awareness Month is over, doesn't mean the conversation has to end. We will continue to talk about mental health and we hope you continue to be blessed and encouraged.
We're here for you! We're in this together!

We've come to the end of Mental Health Awareness Month 2024!
And what a month it has been!
We've talked about so many amazing topics. Topics that are hard to talk about but vital to healing and restoration.
Topics that we hope to continue talking about in the future.
We hope you have been encouraged and inspired to make your metal health a priority.
In this final MHAM episode, we are sharing truths found in our new "Keep Going" booklet. A booklet that was birthed from our desire to share what we have learned through our mental health journeys. We are still a work in progress, but we trust and believe that what we share will bless you immeasurably more than we could ever hope or imagine.

When you've come out of a dark season of depression and anxiety you can't bear the thought of falling back into the darkness again. It's terrifying to even think about.
Maybe you've experienced breakthrough but you're worried you'll be broken again.
Maybe light has finally burst through but you're afraid darkness is around the corner.
So how do we overcome this fear?
How do we replace the lies with the truth?
We've both experienced the fear of falling back into depression and anxiety. In fact, there are moments when we still battle this fear. But we're learning how to overcome it, and we want to share what we've learned with you!
Words to remember:
"God is greater than all of our fears, and he is and always will be in control. God himself is the only one that can calm our fears. He is the only one that can truly calm the stirring in your heart over the future, quiet your mind, and renew your mind." - Jill
"Be active in guarding your heart and your mind. Be active in guarding your mental health and caring for your mind, your body, and your soul. When we are active in doing that, it helps to prevent the fallback." - Erin

When you're struggling in the midst of a season of depression and anxiety, it feels like the pit of darkness will consume you.
It can seem like there's no way out.
It feels like light will never return.
But... there's hope!
There's always hope!
You will not stay in the lows of depression forever.
You will come through the dark valley you're in.
But while you're in the valley, God is with you and He will comfort you!
Words to Remember:
"It's not always about climbing out but letting God climb down into the low with you." -Erin
"He never changes. He's the same yesterday, today and forever. He's eternal, all powerful, all knowing. He knows everything about you and loves you anyway, no matter what." - Jill
Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. - Psalm 23:4

Whether you're struggling with depression and anxiety or you're currently walking alongside someone who is, this episode is for you.
We know how hard it is to struggle with mental health and also how difficult it is to walk alongside someone you love who is struggling.
This week we're talking about how to help someone who is struggling with depression and anxiety AND how to help yourself as you help the ones you love. Both are extremely important.
We hope you are encouraged and that this episode helps you and the ones you love.
Words to remember:
"It's life changing to have someone love you when you can't love yourself." - Erin
"Only God knew exactly what we were walking through. So I needed His help and His guidance." - Jill

May is Mental Health Awareness Month!!
We will be spending this entire month talking about all things mental health.
The truth is, we couldn't authentically talk about this topic unless we had walked through our own seasons of pain and struggle in our mental health. And because of that, we are passionate about raising awareness and bringing hope to those who are hurting too.
In today's episode, we are kicking off our mental health conversations by talking about where we are right now in our mental health journeys. We share truths and tools that have helped us walk through depression, anxiety, panic attacks, grief, and more.
We hope and pray that through listening you will be encouraged in the midst of your own mental health journey. And if you don't personally struggle with mental health, we believe this episode will help guide you in how to come alongside someone you love who may be struggling.
We love you.
We're here for you.
Your story isn't over.
God has immeasurably more planned for your life.
Words to remember:
"It's a miracle that we're here living and breathing... That we can still smile and laugh and talk about mental health and share our stories. We are evidence that God heals." - Erin
"Don't wait to get the help you need. Start today. Start seeking help today." - Jill

Are you struggling to forgive someone?
Are you struggling to forgive yourself?
Forgiveness is hard. But living with unforgiveness is harder. A lot harder.
One of our listeners shared that they were struggling to forgive someone who hurt them. We know the struggle to forgive. Especially when the pain is still present. Or the person who hurt you isn't sorry.
But forgiveness really isn't about the other person.
Forgiveness is for you.
Forgiveness will set you free!
Forgiveness is a gift!

"I used to be a different person and had a bad reputation. But I've changed and I wish people knew."
One of our listeners shared this with us and it's such an important topic.
The reality is, no matter what your past looks like, we all have a story that God can, and will redeem. He is able to do the impossible. He is able to do immeasurably more than we can ever imagine.
Your past is not too painful for God to heal.
Your mistakes do not define you.
Your failures are not final.
You are never too far gone.
At the end of the day, God knows you've changed... and that's enough!
We hope you're encouraged!
Words to remember:
"Some people will choose to ignore the new you because they benefited from the former you. And… maybe they don’t want to acknowledge the change that’s happened in you because it’ll cause them to have to look at themselves… what they need to change in themselves." - Erin
"We were all different people before Jesus became Lord over our lives. He changes EVERYTHING!" - Jill
Quotes:
“If you feel like you are constantly having to try to prove your worth—over the past or in the present—consider how much time you are spending living in the opinions of others. While we cannot control how they view us, we can control how much we think about how they view us. And we can also control how we think about ourselves. As with everything, thoughts are only allowed to continue if we give them that access in our minds.” – Lisa Whittle (God Knows)
“The best way to show someone you are not the same person you were in the past is to live your life differently and let them notice the difference. Changed people can’t hide a good transformation.” – Lisa Whittle (God Knows)

What defines your purpose?
Who defines your purpose?
In last week's episode, we talked about how to trust that your life has purpose. We were so encouraged and there was so much more that we wanted to share, which is why we needed a PART 2!
Words to Remember:
"We are not born to find our purpose. We were born with a purpose." - Jill
"God would not have created you unless He had a purpose for your life." - Erin

We all ask the question. We all want the answer.
What's my purpose?
Why was I created?
It's a question we all ask.
It's a question that has an answer.
We have so much to share about this topic that we decided to do two episodes.
Listen next week for Part 2!
We hope and pray you are encouraged!
Your life has purpose!
Words to Remember:
"You automatically have infinite purpose because God created you. God would not have created you if you didn't have a purpose on this earth." - Erin
"The purpose of my life is not about me. It's true. It's not about me. And when I realize that, and I realize that it's all about Him and the purpose that He has to glorify Him, and once I live in that, I will fulfill my life and my purpose." - Jill

When asked what was on your heart, one of our listeners said, "I'm struggling with being single when all of my friends and siblings are married."
Can you relate? Have you been looking for love? Are you longing to be in a relationship? Is it hard to be single?
Cam is home from school for spring break so we asked her to join us to weigh in on this topic. Before we talked about being single, we caught up with Cam on how Grad School is going, our thoughts on the Bills this offseason, and the final answer to whether or not Cam is getting an Otter.
We hope you're encouraged!
Words to remember:
"He can't love you if he doesn't love God." - Cam
"We are made for community. We are made to be in a relationship. But, first and foremost, we need to be in a relationship with God because everything else flows out of our relationship with God. Every single other relationship that we have flows out of our relationship with God ." - Jill
"If you enter into relationships not having a firm foundation in your relationship with Christ, you're going to keep searching and searching and searching in hopes of finding love." - Erin

Are you wondering when the next bad, painful thing is going to happen?
Are you waiting for the next shoe to drop?
When you've experienced deep heartbreak, loss, trauma, or hardship it can be easy to wonder when the next bad thing is going to happen.
We've been there. We understand the fear. We know how hopeless it can feel to be in that place.
Today we're talking about our own experience and what God has shown us in the midst of the bad, painful things that have happened in our lives.

At some point in our lives, we all go through heartbreak and loss.
It's the most difficult, painful experience to navigate.
How do you deal with it?
Is it possible to have joy in the midst of heartbreak?
Is it possible to still have hope after loss?
In this week's episode, we share our experience with heartbreak and loss, and what we've learned as a result. We also talk about what God has shown us through our greatest loss and the healing He has brought through our deepest heartbreak.
Words to remember:
"Although loss is so hard and so heartbreaking, there is also redemption in loss. There is saving power in loss." - Erin
"Cry out to Him, go to Him, wrestle with God. Talk to Him. Express your anger and your sorrow, your fear, your loss. He understands, and He knows exactly how to heal your broken heart." - Jill

Have you ever prayed over and over again about something and felt like God was distant, maybe even non-existent?
Have you been in a relationship with God for a long time and lately it seems like He is no where to be found?
Are you overwhelmed by what's going on in your life and no matter how much you've prayed God seems silent? It's as if He doesn't see or care about what you're going through?
You're not alone.
In fact, what you're going through and how you're feeling about God is very common.
We talk about it in today's episode and hope that what we share encourages you.
Words of truth:
"When God speaks, it will always be in line with His word and the truth of who He is, His character. You will know when God is speaking, because His voice is so different than any other voice you will hear. And when you are in His word, if you know who God is, you will know what's His voice and what's not." - Erin
"God wants us to hear his voice. He's not hiding from us." - Jill

In the fast paced, highly advanced, materialistic, chaotic culture we live in, it's easy to get distracted. On any given day we're all inundated with information pulling us in a thousand different directions. Pulling us away from what matters most - our relationships and more specifically our relationship with God.
In today's episode, we talk about how to stay connected to God in a culture that tries to push Him out of everything. We share what has helped us prioritize our relationship with Christ over everything else. Ultimately, culture can try to take God out of everything, but it can never take God out of us.
Quotes:
"We can't know what to do in a culture that's stripping God out of it unless we know God, unless we know His will, unless we know His character, unless we know that He's good and faithful and kind and loving." - Jill
"Our culture can try to take God out of everything. But culture cannot take God out of us. We belong to Him." - Erin
"We do not find our true self by seeking it. Rather, we find it by seeking God. For I have said, in finding God, we find our truest and deepest self." - David G. Benner

Expectations...
We all have them... Of others. Of ourselves. Of God.
It's hard to have expectations and it can be even harder to try and meet the expectations of others.
But the hardest part... trusting God with the expectations of the people you love.
But there's a way to navigate all of this in a way that brings freedom.
We're talking about it today on today's Conversations with Erin & Jill!

The most asked question to close out 2023!
What's the point?
Most of us have asked this question at least once. What's the point? Of everything...
It's easy to lose sight of the point when you're focused on the pain.
But what if the point of everything, including the pain, was to point to a Person?
What if the point was the Person of Jesus?
Would it change how we live?
In today's Conversation with Erin and Jill, they dive in deep to answer this question.

Sometimes it's hard to have faith.
When things don't go the way you hoped and prayed they would...
When life doesn't make sense...
When everything feels like it's falling apart and out of control...
When you're hurting and heartbroken and pain is more prevalent than joy...
In this week's episode, Erin and Jill talk about how they've clung to their faith in God even after all that they've been through. They talk about their doubts, their questioning, and how their faith has carried them in the midst of it.
"Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." Hebrews 11:1

"I don’t know where to begin or how much of my mental health journey I’m ready to share right now. And if I’m really honest, at first, I didn’t even want to do this episode. I was afraid to be vulnerable and talk about the painful, dark valley that I’ve walked through. The valley that I still find myself in sometimes. But I’m here. I’m here to tell my story because I’M STILL HERE. I’m living and breathing and that is a reason to share." - Erin

God didn't just write your story... He is IN your story!
He is in every moment... past, present, and future.
He's been there all along and He's not going anywhere.
In today's message, Erin and Jill talk about how our stories are wrapped up in God's Greater Story!
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. (2 Corinthians 12:9-10)
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:37-39)

Before time began God was writing your story. He knew there would be pain, but His purpose for your life is greater. He knew you would ask why, so He gave us His Son – the ultimate answer.
Kelly’s testimony is evidence of the unwavering truth that God is in every detail of our story. The circumstances you can’t comprehend. The joy and the pain. The tears and the laughter. The brokenness and the breakthrough. It’s a story of surrender. I hope that you are moved by Kelly’s story and encouraged that God is in your story too.

When hope seems lost.

What if we entrusted our story to the One who wrote it?
What if we believed that He was working every detail together for good?
What if we surrendered tomorrow to the God who already knows what tomorrow holds?
In today’s message, Tonya shares her story of faith, hope, gratitude, and trusting in the God who provides in seasons of pain. Even when her circumstances didn’t go the way she hoped, she kept her eyes on the eternal hope found in Christ.

God brings people in and out of our lives for seasons. Some remain. Some walk away. And some walk in when you least expect it. God doesn't intend for us to walk through life alone. His plan is not for you to bear your pain on your own.
People may walk away but God never will. Don't cling to those who walk away. Cling to Christ.

Who are your people?
Maybe you feel like all your people disappeared the moment darkness entered your story. People who promised to be there and love you but left when things got hard.
If this is you, I believe you will connect with Beth and her amazing story. When her daughter, Eden, was diagnosed with a fatal disease and years later went to heaven, Beth lost her closest friends. The people in her life she thought would stand by her side in the midst of the suffering. Although it broke her heart to watch people walk out of her life, she watched God bring life and hope into her loneliness.
When people left, He brought new people into her life. People she didn’t even know she needed. But God did… He knew the people Beth needed in her life during her season of suffering. And he knows the people you need in your life too.

Jesus is Everything...
He is Sovereign.
He is Gentle.
He is Love.
He is Beyond Our Comprehension.
He is Everything.
Come to Him as you are.
He loves you... All of you.
And He will never change His mind about you.
The book Erin referenced is Gentle and Lowly by Dane Ortlund.
She quoted from John Bunyan's book, Come and Welcome to Jesus Christ. Here is the quote...
"No, wait" - we say, cautiously approaching Jesus - "You don't understand. I've really messed up, in all kinds of ways."
I know, He responds.
"You know most of it, sure. Certainly more than what others see. But there's perversity down inside me that is hidden from everyone."
I know it all."Well - the thing is, it isn't just my past. It's my present too."I understand."But I don't know if I can break free of this any time soon."
That's the only kind of person I'm here to help."The burden is heavy - and heavier all the time."
Than let Me carry it."It's too much to bear."
Not for Me."You don't get it. My offenses aren't directed toward others. They're against You."
Then I am the one most suited to forgive them."But the more of the ugliness in me you discover, the sooner you'll get fed up with me."
Whoever comes to me I will never cast out.~ John Bunyan

The decision made by this committee is a matter of life and death.
If Hunter was screened at birth for Krabbe disease he might still be here today.
But he was not screened at birth and therefore he was never able to get life saving treatment.

“He doesn’t let this world define who he is, and he doesn’t let the doctors define who he is. He’s a fighter. I thank God for him every day.”
Have you ever asked God why? Have you been angry and wondered if He even hears your desperate prayers? Have you wondered how far your faith can carry you? In today’s episode you will hear Becky’s story. It’s a testimony of hope in the midst of heartbreak… the power of prayer in the face of pain… bravery in the brokenness… and the strength of God in our weakness.

“The same God that was with us in our greatest heartbreak, is the same God who is with me in this moment today.”
Your greatest pain can walk hand in hand with your greatest joy.
Jill Kelly’s story is a testament of this truth. She shares how the suffering of her one and only son led her to the God who sacrificed His one and only Son. And it was through that sacrifice that Jill can say with full confidence that joy and pain can collide. That there can be beauty in the breaking… healing in the heartbreak… life in the midst of loss… and unexpected grace found when you grieve.

Light your Heart with Hope is the meaning of the Hunter’s Hope logo, a flame in a heart.
Several years ago, after our logo was designed and we had been using it for many years as a symbol of hope for here on earth for affected children and their families,
we realized that it held an even deeper message of the greatest Hope, the Hope of Christ, and of complete healing in Heaven.
We discovered the verse, 2 Corinthians 4:6.
For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ made His light shine in our hearts
to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.
This message, whether we understood it or not at the beginning of the foundation, has always been at the core of who we are. We just didn’t realize it like we do now.
When darkness tries to take over, God steps in, if we let Him, with His Light and His Glory, in Christ.
This is the theme of the podcast.
We are pleased today to introduce you to Scarlett Measles. Scarlett grew up in Tennessee. She was an active happy healthy child. But at the age of 16, she was diagnosed with Adult Onset Krabbe Leukodystrophy. She was told that her body would slowly deteriorate over the next five to ten years and that she would eventually end up in a vegetative state until she died. She went from trying to relieve her pain and suffering and depression with alcohol to faith and a relationship with Jesus Christ Now He is her comfort and the joy of her life. Scarlett is now 43 years old and is here to tell us her story and share God’s amazing grace in her life. Welcome Scarlett.
