After unavoidable postponements owing to COVID-19 regulations, the brand-new production and major world tour of Queen and Ben Elton’s multi award-winning rock musical We Will Rock You featuring an all-South African cast, crew and band began in Manila, The Philippines in October 2022. Have you ever heard of a "Theatre Maker"? This is an incredible role and one that is filled with entrepreneurial highs and lows. We find out more about the world of Theatre Making with Daniel Geddes.
Lindi Tshabangu, host of Entrepreneur Show - Word of Mouth, connects with Daniel who cut his musical teeth, as it were, in the world of theatre, dance, and musicals. Today he continues to work as a composer for dance and theatre works, and as a musical director and musician in the South African theatre scene. He has also entered into the world of arranging, contributing to VR Theatrical's stage masterpiece Here's to You: The Simon and Garfunkel Songbook, where his arrangements, along with other contributors, can be heard on all streaming platforms. Much of his compositional work has been for dance productions, including Gaslands (2019), Burn (2016), and Ira (2014). His work has also added an emotional bed to theatre productions such as Black (2017), Pilcrow (2015), and The Knife of Never Letting Go (2014). In Pencil is his first standalone music work.
Daniel has worked as assistant and musical director for a number of theatre shows, including Forever Plaid (2019), Here’s to You (2019/20), Duck for President (2019), and Charlotte’s Web (2018), and played keys for several shows, including Janice Honeyman’s Jack and the Beanstalk (2019), and Disney in the Park (2020). Daniel also works as an actor, and has appeared in several theatre productions, most notably Janice Honeyman’s Snow White Pantomime (2018), the South African premiere of Avenue Q (2018), and The French Institute's Devil's Wood (2016). For film and television he has appeared in the series Madiba (2017), and local Afrikaans film Vergeet My Nie (2020).
As a theatre-maker, he has written and directed several plays for the National Children's Theatre, and for his co-owned theatre production company Liquid Fusion. The company's most notable work, the dance production Burn (2016 - 2018) has garnered awards, and appeared on stages across Europe. The production features a score composed by Daniel.

Harold van Buuren is a South African dancer, choreographer and dance instructor best known as a competitor on two seasons of the dance reality television competition Strictly Come Dancing. How do dancers and choreographers navigate the world of business and creativity?
Lindi Tshabangu connected with Harold van Buuren and he shared some of his insights into the combination of business and creativity. He also shared some of his journey, accomplishments, failures and insights into the world of dance and choreography and share all the details into biggest dance festival in SA - Rumba in the Jungle. "Dancers are the athletes of God" - Albert Einstein Behind the dance: A bit of background on Harold: In Strictly Come Dance, the first season he partnered Michelle Garforth. The couple came second to Zuraida Jardine and her partner Michael Wentink. In Season 2 he partnered actress Grethe Fox - they were the third couple eliminated. He is fully trained as a classical dancer and a Modern Jazz dancer, and represented Switzerland at the 'Festivale Internationale de Danse de Bastia' in Corsica. The Cream of Europe's classical companies were present and Switzerland walked away victorious. He was employed as Lead Dancer at the world famous theatre, 'Le Paradis Latin', in Paris, France. Harold has been Lead Dancer, Artistic Director and Choreographer of this prestigious theatre for 11 years. In so doing, he has successfully choreographed numerous shows for the venue. He has also done numerous shows with international stars such as Ricky Martin, Boyz II Men, Joe Cocker, Gloria Gaynor, Harry Connick Jr., East 17, Kylie Minogue and many more.
